hi i have a samsung tab s 10.5 live demo unit.
i have rooted the device and flashed cynogenmod from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...rom-cyanogenmod-cm-12-0-sm-t800-16gb-t3005540
when i ran samsung stock rom 5.0.2 the storage section was showing total space as 16gb and system memory was taking around 8gb
my friend has the same tablet t800 and in his tablet running same os(samsung tw 5.0.2) system memory was taking up 4.x gb
on installing cm12.1 from above link, the os is showing the total space as 8.10gb as shown in 2nd image
as far as i have read online i have to repartition the internal storage.
am i right?
what should i do?
3rd image is from another tab s t800, 4th image is after running df command in terminal emulator
It seems system partition and cache size is more, what can I do

Will flashing 4.4 do any help,?
It looks like you have lost 7.9gb to system files when it should take around 4.42gb for an 16gb T800
16000mb total memory - 7900mb system = 8100mb free - 1390mb you have used = 6710mb left free
7900mb for system should be 4420mb so why is your system using 3480mb more???
I am running v4.4.2 so i cannot post the same memory pics as you, somebody with an 16gb T800 running v5.0.2 needs to compared against their`s against your memory pics.
John.

Forget looking at the storage usage in settings, it tells you nothing.
Download diskinfo it will tell you exactly which partitions are using how much space.
There are a number of partitions pre allocated with space which all reside on the emmc. About 10.5gb is usually usable from a fresh system which rapidly declines after a bit of usage.
From what I can see the space remaining looks normal.
I wouldn't go messing with partitions unless your looking for a nice brick.

Hi there i have updated the 1st post, can you tell me what to do
Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
You need to run the DF command with the SU command first. This will show the partitions that say permission denied.
Repost the screenshot.

Certainly looks like the CM install has repartitioned your device. I would first go back to a stock Rom and see what effect that has. If it's the same then you are going to have to flash the pit file for your device with Odin.

hi there i have tried to flash the stock 5.0.2 and i have attacked the storage screenshot in the 1st post,
i got the pit file from this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/help/t800-pit-file-t2818817
i have these following questions , please answer them
1 can i flash just the pit file
2 or i have to flash the pit file along with stock rom
3 i am not 100% sure its the actual pit file, coz someone shared it, so in case if it is not the correct pit file, will that mean i have bricked my device or is there a way to fix it?
4 if i screw up with the pit file, can i still flash twrp recovery and flash custom rom?
Download the pit file from the link below and follow the instructions.

What do you mean exactly by "can't see"?
If you can't see it in the file explorer though if that what you mean.
Link2sd mounts the 2nd SD partition on /data/sdext2 I think and won't be needed to be accessed by a user because link2sd will manage the apps and caching automatically.
I hope this helped you

You can't see it but it's mounted. Link2SD deals with everything bro.
Download disk usage and you will be able to see the second partition

This guy did this and he have 834 mb free space. But i have 40 mb free space.
But i already did partitioning.
Your friend is using data2SD and you are using Link2SD. Data2SD merges together your internal storage and your ext4 partition and makes your phone see those like one and that's all, no control after that. When you using Link2SD it won't show total empty space there where you want it but partition is there, link2sd will take care of everything (if you did setup ok) and you have total control over your apps so link2sd makes better choice for most of ppl here...
No worries, if you did all like it should be those 40mb of free space shouldn't change in long time even after install tons of apps

Hmmm seems like your Link2sd options are wrong... Open link2sd, go to settings and be shure that auto link and relink lib files at boot are checked. Under Auto link settings all three options should be checked. Under Install location, automatic or external should do the job.
Now you should go back to app list, hit Multi-select option and choose all app's that you wanna (or better, you can) move to external space... When you selected apps hit Actions button and choose Create link... That should do the job

Considering that /mnt/shell/emulated is a fuse mount of /data/media (and later symlink'd to /storage/emulated), it should have been re-created upon reboot. Of course deleting it would have probably deleted all of the data within /data/media, meaning you should have lost all of your "SDCard" data. So long as the original /data/media structure still existed, the rest will always be recreated on boot within init.tuna.rc.

Ur data is almost full. To download an app on google apps you must have atleast 200mb free on your storage. Alternatively u can use link2sd to link apps that u installed to second partition to free up some space
I got it working but I had to change the script on a galaxy note 2 LTE gt-n7105 with cyanogenmod 10.2
it wasn't working, and I noticed that the file /dev/block/vold/179:33 wasn't on my phone but I have 179:16 and 179:17
so my script is now like this:
#!system/bin/sh
sleep 3
mount -o remount,rw /
# mount -t vfat -o umask=0000,utf8 /dev/block/vold/179:33 /mnt/shell/emulated
mount -t vfat -o umask=0000,utf8 /dev/block/vold/179:17 /mnt/shell/emulated
mount -o bind /data/media/0 /storage/sdcard1
chown system /data/media/0
chgrp sdcard_rw /data/media/0
chmod 0075 /data/media/0
mount -o remount, ro /
is thr any way to even access internal 2gb memory..i asked bcoz my sdcard is only 8 gb i want to use internal memory after swapping
will it work on lollipop??

exactly !
System OTA zip is 2.5 GB. So are there over 10 Copies of old Systems ?!
(And LOS Androids are around 400-800 MB).
So it's just crazy.
Not that I'm running out of storage soon, but that's just about the principle.
I wont accept that some Android OS reserves 28GB for itself.
I can have dual boot Windows and Linux on my computer on that storage space ...
I found another first thread, where I posted/ranted about that, too

Looking at my storage, the system partition is 26GB but the actual used space is a small amount of that ~8GB or so. It's mostly empty. Odd.
My guess is it is so big to allow the update to be unzipped and flashed even if you have the phone full otherwise. Remember iPhones used to not update due to not enough space to unzip the update file.

If this is the reason I'd be amazed - they'd be fixing a problem that isn't widespread.
The Op7t has no real system partition. It's so "big" in theory because it's thats maximum space that can be allocated within the super lun0 partition (super partition contains system, vendor, odm and product partitions).
See details over here : https://source.android.com/devices/tech/ota/dynamic_partitions/implement

That makes sense. However is this super partition fixed size or itself is dynamic? If it is fixed then oneplus is definitely over-allocated it, thus wasting space.
How to use sdcard as internal storage on my redmi note 8, currently i'm using PixelOS rom. when I go to the setup settings for the sdcard there are two options, using the sdcard as portable storage and as extra phone storage. but when I choose as extra phone storage the formatting process stops at 40% and an error appears "attempt to invoke virtual method 'int java.util.arraylist.size()' on a null object reference". is there a way to solve this error or use sdcard as internal in this aosp?

Thank you everyone for helping me
Partition your SD Card for installing apps and storing other files at same time.
Make sure you have a root shell. If not, root your device with Magisk first.
Start a terminal, and run su to switch to root shell ($-->#) .
Partition your sdcard. Follow the instructions below.
1. Check your sdcard number.
Code:
sm list-disks adoptable
You will get the output like this:
Remember the disk number for further use.
2. Run the partition command to seperate your sd card space. Some space are used to store apps and their data. And the rest space keeps as external sdcard space.
Use this command to seperate your sd card:
Code:
sm partition "disk_number" mixed "reserved_percent"
Replace "disk_number" with your real disk number. Also you can control how much space goes for storing apps and their data and how much you want to reserved. For example you want 70% of SD Card for storing apps and 30% for original external storage, then "reserved_percent" is 30.
Code:
Example 2: Want 60% of sdcard goes to store apps, 40% as external storage.
sm partition "disk number" mixed 40
Press ENTER to execute your command. All data on your sdcard will be destroyed. Back up all data on sdcard first if needed.
Right now the sdcard has the ability to store apps. Move your apps to sdcard as you like.
Voila!
EDIT: I made a detailed guide here. Check it for more details. Press "like" button if helped you.

Just face the same problem as you. Tried some custom roms looks like only Android 11 have this issue. Wondering if you rollback to Android 10 to avoid this?

I'm still using android 11. To fix this, I use link2sd plus with magisk, until now this method works well
