Hi, i have an AT&T Note 4 on the latest firmware using stock launcher with google now cards turned off. I could start Google Now by saying "Ok Google", but when i say "call my wife", the google app would show my wife's contact card then proceed to start the call. However, it seems like it can't pull up the dialer app to place the call... Anyone know any fixes? I already tried to uninstall and reinstall the google app but nothing.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Perhaps a stupid question, but did you restart the phone? Mine USED to do that, but stopped. Have you disabled S Voice? Have you retrained and setup "OK Google?"

I don't have S Voice disabled, BTW. Just asking.

Thanks for your response. I do have s voice enabled. The issue is not getting Google now to recognize my voice. It detected my voice and proceed to initiate the call. However after it proceed to initiate the call by pulling the stock dialer, the stock dialer would pull up for a second then turned off. Thus no call was successfully placed.

And it does this every time? I had a period a couple months ago where it did this occasionally, but after a Google update, it stopped. So, let me ask: you've only got the stock dialer installed, right? Also, HOW are you activating Google Now? By saying "OK Google" or some other shortcut or widget (I don't use stock Touchwiz so I don't know offhand if you can set double tapping home key for Google)?

I only use the stock dialer. I activate it by saying "OK Google" then I would say "call my wife". Google would register the command then attempt to launch the stock dialer to make the call. However as soon as the stock dialer started up, it closes and nothing else happened.

I have an issue well I don't like this feature, its where when someone calls you to says who it is I believe and asks you to press 1 to talk or 2 to put it to VoiceMail. I don't like that and is very annoying and I unistalled Voice yet still asks me every phone call.

You have to log in on a PC and change the call screening option. Plus uninstalling the app does not stop Google Voice. You have to cancel it on a PC as well.

I can, but the icon is still there
Call in to your voice mail on the dialer and delete the voice message. Press 7 while listening to the voice message. Once done then set up your preferred voice mail app. I use Google voice

I had this issue on the Galaxy S3 when I first got it with a phantom voicemail icon that never went away despite not having any voicemails. I solved it by getting someone to leave me another voicemail and then deleting it. Might work for you as well.
After disabling it as suggested before, reboot your phone.

Same thing happened on the s3. Call yourself from a different phone and leave a message then delete it from your phone.

Can't leave myself voicemail because I don't have voicemail activated.
Did try the reboot after disabling voicemail, still there.

You need to activate it and do the above, that's the only way.

Well if it's the visual voicemail notification that you're trying to make go away, then long press it in notification, and go to app info, and uncheck notifications. If it's the regular voicemail icon, I would say do the same, but looks like on stock that's tied to the phone.apk and stock doesn't seem to let you disable the notification. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you can uncheck notifications on CM. Otherwise, yeah just setup voicemail leave a message, and then delete it.
I've tried the above method with no results? Anyone have any other ideas thanks ahead .
[edit] I've put this in the wrong spot I have an e4gt I would think the fix would be the same but I can't figure out how to delete my post sorry folks
clear phone data
on galaxy s7 edge with android 6.0 if you hold the notification until you get to "App Notification" then click on the "i" icon, once in the application info select storage. finally clear data
Root the phone and remove the app from your system......
My S3 is running CM11 nightly 1/12/14 and I can not send/receive. I have went into keyboard settings and added emoji to my add-on dictionaries and still nothing. Any help would be awesome.

by off chance you have google voice installed and integrated into your sprint account? if you do, there is your problem. google voice does not encode them.
How would I go about taking voice off??

if you do have google voice activated and integrated with your sprint account, you need to log into the google voice on your pc and deactivate the integration with your sprint account. uninstall google voice from your phone, reboot and try your emoji. they should work now.
if you use google voice just for visual voicemail, you can still do that but don't integrate it with you sprint account by download the app again, open google voice and you'll be at the welcome screen, hit skip button, sign into your account is the next screen, hit sign in button, set up google voice is the next screen, hit next, make calls is the next screen, hit do not use google voice to make any calls and hit next button, set up voicemail is the next screen, hit next button, the next screen should say you need to dial a number to activate voicemail, tap on that number and call it, it will make some noise and end the call, back out till you are back at the google app, hit next, a popup will say you need to call that number again but you dont have to so just okay. now you should have google voice setup and use it for voicemail and your emojis should work with no problems.
I'm trying to get Google Voice working as my voicemail, but am having issues.
Has anyone else tried this?
When I tried to change my voicemail provider from "My Carrier" to "Google Voice" I get an error saying that it can't change the forwarding number.
I then tried to change the forwarding number in Call/Settings and I get a "Network or Sim Error"
Anyone have any insight?
Never mind, I tried it a couple more times and the damned thing switched.

Have Google voice forward the texts/voicemails to hangouts then uninstall the Google voice app all together.

I appreciate that you're trying to be helpful, but how does that fix the issue of not being able to switch from the carrier voicemail?
The issue is not with the app, it WAS with the phone, which was slved.
If a mod would like to delete this thread, please do. Nothing useful will come of this.

Hey all. Wondering if anyone knows if possible how to change the default Voice Input app to something different. When you hold down the home button the voice input app comes up asking for input. However I would like to use a third party app like utter or voice input by Google to handle voice command instead of the system voice input app. Any ideas?
Sent from my SD4930UR using XDA Free mobile app
Oh and just fyi I tried resetting defaults in the app manager of the system voice input app but I don't get a prompt to change the default to another app when opening and using it. When I install the app utter it states there is no app that can handle text to speech. The Google Voice input works fine but I cannot make it default so in have to launch the app rather then pressing a button on a hands free device.
