Hi so I recently unlocked my T-Mobile edge with the app "Device Unlock" from T-Mobile. I now use AT&T and I want to root/add roms to my phone. If I do all those, will the unlock go away?
Nope. You'll maintain root unless you mess with the efs partition

I assume your referring to the sim unlock and not root. Once you permanently unlock the sim lock with the unlock app it will stay unlocked no matter what rom you install.

Hi guys,
I've unlocked the carrier of my Galaxy Nexus, now i don't know if my phone will be again carrier locked if i unlock bootloader root and install custom roms... Or pass from yajkuxw to yajku ( to get official updates from google)??
Thanks in advanced!!!
Shouldn't be - simm lock / unlock is independent of the phone OS.
If it does re lock it just use the same code and you'll be fine.

I just called my T-mobile carrier and said I wanted to be able to use the phone when I was overseas and needed it unlocked and they sent me the code and instructions via email, free no problem.
hi
just got an Xperia S noticed that its sim free but the bootloader unlock statue is not allowed on the service menu, any thoughts guys?
Bootloader and SIM unlock are two entirely different things. SIM unlock just allows the use of different carriers while bootloader unlock allows for changing system files otherwise locked from being accessed or changed and stops the use of fast boot.

I bought it used, I thought as long as it is sim free, it was bought contract free so it should be factory bootloader unlocked. How to enter fastboot mode anyway ?
If bootloader unlocked allowed = no it means you cant unlock it

If it was baught from a mobile carrier , most likely , it had been simlocked and the user either sim-unlocked by himself or from carrier... then it could be bootloader not unlockable... check by entering *#*#7378423#*#*.
im having the same issue... i will call the carrier to see if i can send to hell the warranty a little bit..
I have a rooted ZL. The bootloader is showing as unlockable: No
Why, when sony even provides instructions on unlocking bootloaders, are some phones not unlockable?
Educate me!
same here..
Any way out to install CM11 or omni rom??

It's not Sony, it's blocked by carrier network. It cannot be unlocked through any software, as its linked to chipset

So the carrier locks at two levels? I unlocked the carrier with a code but you are saying that the bootloader is locked by them as well?
Phone was locked to bell Canada. I unlocked it and run on Rogers now.

You can unlock network but not boot loader. Because it's hard coded. Reason behind this is that is something happens to the phone it would be difficult to replace it. There are people who would unlock boo loader at some price. I'm not sure.

I'm getting my T-MO G3 returned soon and would like to unlock the bootloader asap but I'm not exactly sure how. Is it just FASTBOOT OEM UNLOCK or is there something else?

Whenever I've unlocked a bootloader, it wipes the device. I'd rather do that before I set it up with my apps and accounts.

Correct me if I am wrong but every phone comes with a locked bootloader even the nexus line you need to unlock. We really need to stop calling encrypted bootloaders locked. So this phone isn't encrypted but surely it is locked.
Our G3 is the only one that's unlocked.
rumor has it tmobile g3 isn't locked

I'm confused I have an note 3 verizon. I am trading in my note 3 becaues of lock down bootloaders. will the G3 be easier to unlock? I have been reading that T moblie is the only one that comes unlocked.... Hmmm need some help befoere I jump Thanks
Guys. There is a difference between unlocked and unlockable. This being unlocked means there's nothing really to do. That's why it's so unusual.

I believe It's unlocked. Rooted with twrp
Unlocked, just rooted and installed twrp, nothing else to do about it.
