Good morning,
I bought a Galaxy Tab S 10.5 SM-T805 in Seoul beacuse there if found the 32GB version. The tables is branded U+ LTE8 (Korean phone company).
Now I'm back in Italy and I want to do the official update to Lollypop, but when I select to search the update the tab say that it is installed the last version. I have installed Kitkat 4.4.4.
There is a why to update to Lollypop without rooting?
If it is don't want to use Odin because I'm sacry to birck it and lose the warranty.
My colleague that has the same tab tried to root it with Odin but he has brick it.
If I go to a Samsung Service they can install me the Italian firmware with Lollypop?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
You don't need root to install lollipop.
Also you won't brick your tablet with Odin if you follow the instructions correctly.
Odin is pretty safe.

Hi folks!
Looking for a little help here with my brand new Tab Pro 8.4. Bought it from Expansys and it arrived this morning - powered it up and booted into Polish.. 'Ok, that's wierd' I thought, but reconfigured it for UK and carried on happily setting it up - only to find that some of the apps included were in Polish. So, I check the box (front's in English, along with the security seals, back is in Polish) and sure enough it's a Polish model Tab Pro. 'No worries, I'll download and flash an official UK firmware' I thought. Which I did - only to find on restarting it that once again I'm back into Polish. On checking, I found that the device's CSC is automatically set to Poland, not UK. Even a firmware flash doesn't seem to reset this (dammit) so I was wondering if there was any way I COULD set it to either flash as UK (using Odin) or preconfig the device so Multi-CSC would see it as a UK device? I understand there is a Play Store app that can do this for me, but I'm unsure if Rooting the device (which the app needs) will break Knox or not...
Thanks for your advice and help!
Charles.
UPDATE: Sorted it - had to use Odin to flash to the BND3 firmware first in order to get TowelRoot to work (it wouldn't for some reason with the ANAG firmware...) and then it was a simple matter of using a CSC changer from the Play Store to set the device from XEO to BTU. By using TowelRoot I haven't tripped Knox
Hi
I recently bought a Tab S 8.4, the 16GB variant with WiFi only (T700). I have come to realise that this is an imported model from Hong Kong. It has a "Samsung Chinese IME" input method that I cannot deselect, which I believe may be interfering with External Keyboard Helper Pro when I try to use a UK layout Bluetooth keyboard.
My questions are these, can I flash it with the latest available UK firmware? If I were to do so, would it eliminate that annoying "Samsung Chinese IME" input method? Finally, would having the UK firmware, cause any future OTA downloads to be UK ones too, or would I have to manually update it myself?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
You could download and flash the latest UK firmware here. It should eliminate the Chinese IME (or you could just root and freeze/uninstall it)

Not sure, but given that the UK hasn't had a OTA firmware update for nearly five months now (last release was on 30th June) I don't think it will be a major problem. You can just reflash any new versions using ODIN.
Flashed!!!
I have done the deed. I've flashed my Tab-S 8.4 with the latest UK firmware using Odin.
Because the tablet was new and I didn't really have anything on it that I couldn't reconfigure from scratch, I didn't bother with a Nandroid backup or anything. NOTE to anyone reading this: Skipping backing up is NOT something you should do. I had a good reason to do so. That said, I'd also downloaded a copy of the Hong Kong firmware I already had on the tablet, so that I had it on hand, just in case.
I expected to have to reconfigure the tablet from scratch, but this has proven to not be the case. It's remembered all my apps and settings and accounts and things. So all in all it's gone very smoothly.
The "Samsung Chinese IME" input method is now history. Now I have to go check out whether that has cured my problem with EKH Pro.
I also installed Kies3 to see what it would make of my firmware configuration, and to see if it would try suggesting that I should go back to the Hong Kong one. It didn't. It said my current UK firmware was the latest available. Of course, this isn't a concrete indication that I will get OTA updates of UK firmware in the future by any stretch of the imagination. That will only be proved once the next update comes down from Samsung. Needless to say I won't be letting it update itself until I've made sure it's a UK firmware.
Thanks for your help.
Reflashing my firmware to get rid of the "Samsung Chinese IME" input method has not helped me get EKH Pro working. I am, however, still happy that I'm on the right firmware for my country.
I now have another line of enquiry about EKH Pro, and I think this time it is correct one for the problem I'm having. But I won't go into it here.
Firmware on ATT SM-T707A
Hey guys, just picked up an ATT Tab S 8.4. Loved my bronze 8.4" and thought having LTE would be cool. I was wondering if it's possible to flash an official stock firmware for the T705 to remove the ATT bloat and enable the dialer. I recall doing this on the original Galaxy Tabs with UK firmware but cannot find much info on the S. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
Since the new Lollipop update is already out for SM-T705 devices in some countries, can I install the firmware that is from Hong Kong and not from my country since it is not out yet for Singapore? If yes, will there be any downside for installing the firmware from HK?
Go ahead. It working. From Thailand.
Odin3 10.6, and cf auto root twrp t800 work perfect.
And install kitkat sd card patch from play store.
Hi,
I purchased a T705M (Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE - Colombia) yesterday and I want upgrade it to 5.02.
As for the information appearing at SamMobile, 5.02 is available (OTA and also via Kies) for Colombia (COO) since 5015/05/12 but my tablet do not take the update.
I tried several times using Settings/General/About device/Software update/Udate now but recieving the (undesired) answer: "The latest updates have already been installed".
I tried using Kies but it says also that latest update is installed.
Does anybody know a way to get rid of this obstacle (and being capable to update) ?
On the other hand, I already downloaded 5.02 ROM (COO) and also 4.4.2 ROM (COO) using the excellent tool appearing at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647).
The point is: if I use Odin to install 5.02 ROM (Samsung official ROM), will I void warranty ? after installing 5.02 is it possible to downgrade to official 4.4.2 (just in case) without voiding warranty ?
Thanks for any answers.
Just use Odin. It wont void your warranty, no need to downgrade afterwards.

Thanks for your answer.
Some persons have reported problems with 5.02 in Tab S (low battery life, restarts, problem with camera flash....). This is why I want to leave open the door to return to Kit Kat.
Hi All,
I recently got a note 8.0 tab and updated the firmware thru about device. Now, I'd like to try to root it, but it seems I need to revert back to original kitkat version. I know how to do that, I just dont know how to find the original version.
