Please help! Lost IMEI with no backup

I have been running Task's AOKP (4.3.1 with LK3 bootloader) for a while now with no issues. Last night I decided to do a fresh install of it and started to run into problems now. I can no longer connect to LTE and only have edge service. After some researching I notice that my IMEI now says 0 and that can lead to not connecting to networks. Everything I have read says one way to get your IMEI back is to flash back to stock but since I have been running 4.3 there is no way to go back without bricking from what I have read? Is there any way to recover your IMEI or am I out of luck? I have tried reflashing/clearing caches and that made no difference..
I would be grateful for any help of If someone can point me in the right direction..

You can go back to stock. The issue has to do with bootloaders. If you try to go back to a previous bootloader once loading MJB you will brick your phone. You can, however, go back to a previous or stock Rom.

I had a similar problem after recovering from a hard brick. Try to Reflash your modem. That's what got me service again after my bricking incident. My imei number showed as 0 and my baseband showed as unknown(go to settings, about device, look for baseband what does it show, then cruise back up to status and you got the imei there zero of course).

Don't know if it will help but mine did the same after flashing a ROM. Nandroiding back fixed mine.

IMEI problems
i had the same problem. what i did is i went back to stock using Odin and used the full NV back up tool use this to put your IMEI back in make sure to put it in correctly save it. Then when you use the NV tool restore it back to the phone it worked for my phone no problems

Another thread about to be locked or deleted. IMEI discussions are not permitted on this site due to abuse.
You can find the information you need from other sites via Google. Reflashing your modem, letting the phone catch a signal and a little time /patience does resolve the problem for many. Once you get back to normal, make sure that you back up your entire EFS /NV in case you run into any future problems.
As others pointed out, do not try to downgrade a 4.3 bootloader. 4.3 was a major update and blew a qfuse in our phones. Meaning that trying to revert it will likely brick your phone. If your IMEI is actually corrupt don't panic. You just need to spend an hour or two of quality time with Google. The information you need isn't that hard to find, it's just buried in an avalanche of help me posts.

Hey guys I bought my sg3 about 3 months ago from a friend who had cynogen mod on the phone and it worked fine but I had cynogen mod on auto update and now my imei shows as 0 via *#06# and I cant call or text etc. Unfortunately I do not have a backup from when the imei worked because I didnt expect it to do this. So far Ive removed cynogen mod and reset it to stock firmware but im having the same issue any suggestions?
Its the SGH1747 version

Your baseband is probably corrupted. You may try reflashing a stock modem/baseband via recovery. I had a similar problem once, although I was on stock ROM, and re-flashing the modem zip worked.
I, however, tread very carefully here as I am aware the forum is wary about discussions relating to IMEI.

You can look up peoplearmy's method (google it). You will not find help on how to fix IMEI on XDA. I had my IMEI wiped out a while back after flashing a bad rom. I had to get it put back, and then had to get LTE back.

Can you go to Settings => About Device and see what you have under Baseband version? Whilst you are there, also check what Android version it says and the build number.

Everything looks OK as your baseband version would likely read 'unknown' if it's bad. You may, however, still try re-flashing the modem via the method posted in the attached thread ... Please proceed at your own peril as I offer no guarantee that this will work or will not result in damaged phones,

Please note you will need custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP). You will find instructions for installing custom recovery at the bottom of the thread. If this doesn't work, then you may try doing a hard wipe from recovery and reinstalling everything including system ROM, modem and kernel.
Hope it works out for you.

Simple fix is to reinject imei which located behind the battery.. But sometimes for some reason if you do this, you'll stuck with edge network, can be fix though but you gotta go back to stock in order to do so

I'm in the same boat as you once were. I lost my imei and had to inject it back, now I have no LTE service anywhere.. It says LTE but no internet connection. Any help? Sorry if I threadjacked here but I've been dealing with this for a year now and I really need a solution...

you will have to google peoplearmy imei lte and find the tutorial on how to restore imei and get LTE back.
You will not be able to find the thread on XDA because XDA deleted it sometime ago. I was like you and lost my imei. Once I re-injected it using a tutorial on XDA, I was stuck on edge. Then I finally found peoplearmy's tutorial, downloaded the programs and followed the steps to get LTE back. I got it back and haven't lost it since.

I can't find the link, can you PM me it?

I had that happen to me with a 0 on my phone and was able to get it back I had no backup either what I did is go on the NV Data restore or NV writer thread and downloaded the NV writer and put myself back on stock ...I went thru a few pages in the post and someone had a file where you could put your IMEI into that file maybe it was set up thru notepad but you could fill in the zeros with your IMEI and name it I think a txt.file after then open the NV writer and instead of backing it up cause you can't just restore that file where you fill in you're IMEI and it went right back into my phone. There also a video on that page how to do it. You just need basically that file to put your IMEI back in. I might still have it if not keep going thru the post took find it. There a picture of what it looks like to restore if you list it but every time I tried to open that link to restore it wouldn't let me. Hope it wasn't to confusing but it's basically a white box with a bunch of zeros and replace the zeros with your IMEI and save it as atxt. File I believe and just restore it as shown in the video for backing it up but just restore instead it does work cause I didn't have an IMEI on my phone it just had a zero

Hello XDA community. I have never posted because you all do a fantastic job with your forum and I have been able to figure everything out based on the information here. However, this has come to an end...I have been scouring this site since Sunday hoping for a resolution and just cannot get anywhere. So, I am leaning on you guys to see if you can set me straight. I have lost data connection and IMEI was 0.
Firstly, I do not have a copy of my EFS. Idiotic I know.
I flashed Stock ROM and injected IMEI with NV reader writer and IMEI came back.
Reflashed CM 10.2.1
Flashed 1747UCUEMJB Modem
Flashed 1747UCUEMJB Bootloader
Still no data connection...
Tried to reflash to stock to use DIAG mode to allow me to use Peoplearmys FIX on stock rom. I can't downgrade boot loaders, so Stock ROM is out of the question from what I understand.
I have tried several time using terminal emulator and Smanager to run the scripts Peoplearmy has provided to enable DIAG mode in AOSP, but I keep getting error messages "No such file or directory"
Can anybody help or point me in the right direction? I need to figure out how to get my phone into DIAG mode and I think I can proceed, unless anybody has a better suggestion. If you require anymore information about my situation, please let me know.

So I followed that to get me back to Stock Rom and it worked perfectly. Then, followed peoplearmys advice to inject IMEI, data fixed.
Now just trying to reroot and having some issues, but my brain is fried. So, it may be another day...

I have been unlocking for a while but have ran into issues lately with z3x and 4.3 on i747. Basically everyime i use 23x box something goes wrong last night it started with an extra number being inserted in the imei. Not knowing that ns pro will wreck your modem i tried it and now the imei is null and baseband is unknown. Any help would greatly be appreciated. There was alot i did not know about unlocking because i got into this with ns pro back when there was 0 problmes with anyhting below 4.3, but now 4.3 is killing me.
Here is what i have done
i have tried to rewrite imei mulitple times
i have tried qpst with a good know qcn fiel but it just error out. everytime
the problem
*#7284# shows up but wont allow me to switch between modem andpda
phone will not read in either z3x or ns pro
it would seem like tis not reading in qpst either as it wont allo me to restore any of the good know files
i just really want to be done with this and move on.
Another question i have is int he furute if i do a full nv backup with nv reader writer will this help at all. Like is said i am only having this problem ont he 747 and i have searched xda, ns pro, and z3x forums for an answer and i cant seem to find one. My next step is just to replace the baseband chip and be done, but that alot of work and i hate reballing any bga.

NULL IMEI doesn't mean you've actually lost your IMEI
try take sim out, restart phone and then reinsert sim, and if that doesn't work, restart again with your sim inside
and also when you reinject imei(say whatever i said above doesn't work for you), make sure under developer option, usb debugging is on!

Looks like your modem is compromised. You can download the modem via the following link and try reflashing recovery.

No, it's a zip file which has to be flashed via (custom) recovery. If you do not have custom recovery, you can flash that to your phone via Odin. There are several options for custom recovery but most common options are CWM, TWRP and Philz Touch which is an enhancement of CWM.
First download the modem file to your computer. Copy it to your phone's internal SD card if you can or to an external (micro) SD card.
Once you have the zip ready, boot your phone into recovery mode via the 3-button combo (Volume Up, Home and Power).
When you are in recovery mode, select install and navigate to the modem zip. Start flashing. Wait for flashing to be complete and reboot to system. I'd have sent you some download links for custom recovery but I'm writing this in a fly. You could, however, do a search through this forum.

i downloaded the file
flashed the modem.bin file via twrp. I just put it on the phone i did not use the sd card
then i rewrote the imei with ns pro verision 6.7.1 (this phone was on 4.3)
i know have my imei back, and i know also i have the phone in 100 percent working condition with a full imei.
TAKE MY ADVICE AND BACK UP THE NV ITEMS before doing a s3 747 or 999 on z3 box just in case. I have spent close to 3 days trying to fix these phones.

alos if you are going to install the file to your phone remeber to put it back into mtp+adb so you can move it your phone with out an sd card

How were you able to rewrite using ns pro 6.7.1? everytime i try, it tells me operation failed. thanks

yes you are correct i am using 6.7.0 to rewrite the imeo not 6.7.1

i've tried you mean unbranded that i haven't because cant find the files

its get signal on stock and picks up my sim card and reads it but cant connect to a network/ stuck in emergency calls only and wont register to a network and my imei is genergic and its unlocked

i don't have backup how would i rebuild the efs folder through adb or something again I DON'T HAVE BACKUP and all i have been doing is looking

in the same post he have mentioned how to recover lost imei/efs please read
How to recover lost IMEI that happens with downgrading ROM
If you have lost IMEI just by downgrading (as said by above by flashing older ROM), still you can recover IMEI without having EFS backup.
-Again upgrade ROM will restore IMEI OR
-Flash latest Modem. You can find it here.. You can download MG1 modem and flash using PC Odin with 'Phone' tab instead of PDA.
Remember above said works only if IMEI is corrupted by downgrading ROM only, if it was corrupted by other things, this won't be helpful.
Also Read This, if you have issue restoring EFS OR device stuck to factory mod.
Hope this will find helpful to all newbies regarding question about EFS and IMEI problem. I have posted this to general section so newbie can post to it if they have any queries.

hi sorry for the delayed replay, for stock if you have DNY try to find same and according to my knowledge try to downgrade your phone.

I have cricket wireless and it pick up but stuck in emergency calls only + No service. i did odin that mg1 file and no luck ive been looking please redirect me
now i have bars but still in emergency calls only and help me
