Laggy scrolling in browser - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else have problems when scrolling web pages? My phone laggs pretty much in browser. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Problem can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jttoOoC8k_Q#t=00m07s
Loaded page is http://m.monitor.hr, browser is android default browser (but same problem exists in Chrome).

it is probably a lot of advertisment content inside
in my G4 is same as you - laggy

Yeh, I've had lots of problems using chrome on some web pages. Seems to be advertising.
I'm now using Opera, which runs smoother for me.

@johnny8910
if you rooted already you can use adaway app
which is adblock - very pleasant function to me
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934553157

It's totally smooth here using UCBrowser (rooted + adblocked of course) :good:

It's driving me crazy, especially because I'm using desktop browse agent. I desperately need root+adblock, tried the adblock plus without root solution didn't work well.

Tried that page on mine. it's as smooth as silk with no lag at all.

Stock - I use Nova launcher, but tried stock launcher too, just to be sure. It's all smooth.

Thanks
I have it installed and updated, but still get some issues.

Thanks for you replies guys.
It is true that page on video is loaded with adds, but by my old Samsung Galaxy S4 scrolls it without problems same as my 7" Alcatel tablet bought for less than 40€.
From your replies it seems that some of us have this issue and some not. I'm considering to ask for a replacement unit because I tried other unit in T-Mobile center and that one didn't have problems with laggy scrolling.
Will try to do a factory reset and test it again (shame because of lost time for settting it up).

Hard reset did not solve the problem I think I will try to get replacement tomorrow.

Will wait few days for update. Tried to update it yesterday but already on latest version.

Sorry to necro this thread, but this link might help.
I can't post links, so just Google "10 speed hacks to make chrome faster"
Basically,
You can use chrome flags to give chrome access to more memory and other thing thing that help chrome scroll smoother. Just got the lg g4 and giving chrome 512 memory seemed to help.

Firefox is laggy in scrolling, also when rooted and adaway installed. Opera or Chromium is very smooth on my G4...

No one notices this slowdown? I might even go back to 2.1 because of this..
Have you guys tried disabling Flash in the settings? My guess is that's what's slowing it down for you.

I disabled all plugins. No difference.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I've noticed this ive just browsed these forums using the browser and there is definitly it some slow down
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Notice browser was slower than before as well.
edit: also notice that it break flash on FB games like mafia wars, none of the links works anymore, except for banners. Same thing happens to DolphinHD browser.
I have this issue to its really noticeable. I use my phone a lot for browsing ..anyone know how to fix this ? I might swap to a galaxy s if there is no fix.
Thats strange as mine is a hell of a lot quicker on the browser. scrolling pages and rendering specifically much much faster here. Only different thing I did was a hard reset when the update finished as I wanted to start fresh. I wouldnt suggest doing that if you have any copy protected apps though as they still arent showing in the market :-(
mines really slow too

I had a feeling that may be the answer. Is anyone willing to try a hard reset your see if it sorted it out that always sorted out any problems like this when applying a custom rom.
Chris, what program did you use to back up all your settings?
I think the scrolling is a hair slower (or maybe the same, can't really judge), but it loads pages lightning fast! I can live with that
I have been struggling with the same problem, sir, and it's driving me nuts!
I'm gonna try a hard reset now (using the ROM linked beneath though, but I don't think that matters because the browser is laggy as hell)
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741755
EDIT:
The hard reset didn't seem to help.
I'm installing a generic RUU (because my phone is rooted) and trying to download the official Froyo update and do a hard reset, just in case.
I'll be back.

I did a hard reset too and it made no difference. If you could please report back if you find a solution, it would be much appreciated
Same problem here!
Rendering of pages is way faster than in 2.1.
Scrolling is much slower/laggy.
Disabling flash doesn't help...
Disabling javascript doesn't help...
Clearing cache or Hard-resetting doesn't help...
Dan
Edit: I have the feeling that also scrolling the list of options in menu->more is sluggish.
(of course in landscape mode, otherwise there's nothing to scroll)
Same here on my Desire running 2.2, scrolling is definitely slower than it was in 2.1!
I can confirm also problems with browser. I was googling all over for people with same simptoms (laggy scrolling), and it seems that a lot of people have this problem. There is still no solution, please post if you find something. It's really annoying.
Funny, I'm using DeFrost 2.5a and the browser is so much faster all round. Flash 10.1 is really smooth.
I noticed same problem too... write emails to HTC, i hope that they will fix this.
I rooted my phone about a month ago and then came back to original 2.1 version.
Does anybody that was moving directly from 2.1 to Froyo have similiar problem??

Browsers in ICS 4 just going whachy.

Finally managed to get this beast rooted and everything is great, loving the new UI and all, but for heaven's sake, please tell me that I don't have the best browsers with Dolphin HD, stock, and Opera. All have serious drawbacks - primarily confirmation dialogue boxes (can't anyone fix this?) they never work. Sometimes they do after a pinch resize.
Other problems - Desktop user agents are just... awful. Firefox was the biggest resource hog out of them all so I yanked it.
Any thoughts, suggestions, help would be appreciated.
Additional info:
LG Nitro P930 (rooted)
Gingerbread - ICS (leaked version) - LG online upgrade (post root)
Browsers tried: stock (obviously), Dolphin HD, Opera, and Firefox
Problem sites: mostly Yahoo (especially mail), FB, any other non-mobile site that uses popup dialogue boxes

Chrome Lag?

Hey everyone.
I was just curious as to how Chrome can be so laggy, stuttery and unresponsive on our device, while the AOSP browser is so buttery smooth. Anyone have some insight?

I don't know how Google can ship it as a stock app in such a state..
I have stopped using Chrome. It lags like hell for me too. Stock browser it is for me!
The day Chrome started making my launcher refresh on 4.1.2 on every exit...with one freaking tab was the day I stopped using it. My rom didn't even come with the stock browser, so I had to get an apk for it and install it. Works SO much better. I'm finding the new version of Chrome is starting to feel heavy on my Laptop. It's a few years old now but still, a laptop with this spec should not be lagging with a web browser. I think Chrome is going down the tubes.
In the Chrome settings under Developer Tools, uncheck "Tilt Scrolling". Just doing that improved the performance of Chrome on my toroplus a great deal.

[Q] Is anyone else experiencing Dolphin Browser locking up on Note 3?

Hey guys and gals,
I love Dolphin Browser and have been using it since I entered the world of Android with an S3 and then a Note 2. I switched to a Note 3 a few weeks ago and I've been having really strange issues with Dolphin. It's getting to the point where it's unusable. I've wiped cached, uninstalled, reinstalled, updated to latest Flash apk, so I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of. I'm hoping someone can help or at least tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this.
When I open Dolphin, I can click through one or two links. I don't know exactly what causes this, but soon after, I press a link and the browser freezes. I can open new tabs and zoom in an out of the tabs that are currently open, but the status bar does nothing, I cannot interact with any links/images/anything on the loaded pages, and nothing else loads. I have to close the app and wait at least 15 min, or wipe the cache and open the app again. Same thing happens every time.
It's extremely weird and very annoying. I love the app but will have to switch if I cannot fix this issue.
Has anyone else been experiencing this? Do you know how to fix it?

Great, hope to see it fixed soon. Since I can guess you're a Dolphin user, what secondary browser do you recommend/think is the best? I love how Dolphin renders webpages and haven't found another that does quite as well (IMO).

I switch between Chrome and Stock depending on what i'm doing. Both have benefits
I use naked browser pro, aosp browser and chrome. Those are my favorites in that order.
sent from my sm-9005.
I have no problems with Dolphin at all and that's all I use. ...I need more info to help. .. What rom? Did you restore data? Etc
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I use Dolphin and I'm not seeing exactly what you are but it the browser is getting progressively annoying. What I'm seeing are pages taking forever to load. I click a link, the screen goes white...wait...wait....wait....get tired of waiting so I push 'stop' and then the page displays immediately. It's like it wants to pre-load the entire page before it shows anything at all, then it all comes up at once. Dolphin on my N4 recently developed this same behavior. If they don't get their stuff together I'll be ditching it.
My favorite browser by far and wide is Firefox. I used to use Dolphin before FF Mobile was stable enough for full time use but these days FF wipes the floor with Dolphin in terms of features. Firefox has an extensive addon collection for adblock, useragent switching, full screen, etc. plus it supports Flash Player and html5 videos perfectly. If you're not happy with stock and Chrome definitely try Firefox!

Have you tried to send a bug report to Dolphin Team?
You can send a detailed report in Dolphin Settings > Help > Send Feedback > Not responding.
I often do this to make Dolphin realize my issue and fix it.
You should try it !

Help with Internet browsing Tab S 10.5

I am looking for help with my SM-T800 and Web browsing in particular.
The problem is that it is slow and stutters when moving up and down a page. I find it outstanding that a tablet as new as this can be this bad. I have tried the stock, chrome, dolphin and UC browsers and out of all of them UC is the better one but still in my view really bad.
I'm on 4.4.2 with no OTA when I check for an update(I'm in the UK) so I guess the only option is to update through Odin but I want to see if this can be sorted out first.
I have disabled most of the stuff that I don't use and can without rooting it. I have tried a compleat wipe but still no better. I also have a Note 4 so I know about TW slowing things down but this is ridiculous.
Any help would be great and by the way I'm more used to using an ipad air 2
I have the same T800 and am in the UK, running stock 4.4.2 same as you, I use the built in chrome and it seems smooth as silk, what pages are you browing are they full of flash or photo.
Chrome has an data saver, it compresses the data to make it smaller so you use less, it keep it on, but you can turn it off, in the settings.
edit: just tried browing ebay for all the photo`s no problems at all scrolling up and down a massive page.

Well this is one of the sites that it bad along with android central. Chrome was probably the worst of the browsers. I have even tried AdBlock Plus.
Ok, I tried Android Central, it is stuttery while the page is loading, but once that is done it scrolls fine, do you have a slow connection and you are scrolling while the page is loading, i dont have any addblock on at all.
EDIT: I tried it in desktop mode and Android Central is very choppy and the pages take forever to load, I am going to give Dolphin browser a go.

I have around 150mbps so Internet speed is not a problem. Even if I wait for the page to load it stutters and jumps, very inconsistent scrolling. Even my old Surface 2 which is Windows RT blows it into the weeds for both speed and smoothness.
Ok, I never liked browsing the net on a tablet, i prefer using a notebook with a mouse, so maybe i am putting up with a lot of problems, pages do take longer to load on a tablet.
Have a look at a few Sam Tab S review video`s on youtube and see if they notice a problem. while using the browser.

I will have another look but for me the tab s is unusable.
Android Central is more of a problem than the S 10.5 browsers. That site loads slow with IE on my PC. TOO MANY ADS and it really is hosed up on a tablet as the text isn't formatted very well for a tablet. I can't even login because the menu uption for the store overlays the menu item for login!
Someone there needs to clean it up. You would figure they would want to attract the smart phone and tablet users. It's not going to happen with a mess like they have there.

Yeah I noticed even on my ipad air 2 that android central loads the page really slow as I'm scrolling up and down the page. To log into there I had to tap on the reply to a thread so that it would redirect me to the login.
I found this 2015 android browser review, now i just need to know what it means.

You should try to update to Lollipop via odin since this bug has been mostly fixed. Even XDA was a nightmare for me on KK but now it is smoother
Dag, if you want to put a browser to the test load that review page tinderbox put up a link to! I waited almost 4 minutes for it to load in IE 11!
It is the ads and stupid massive signatures that cause the scrolling issue. Ad blockers help here.
This site is terrible for it. I've used all the browsers and stock deals with it the best.
Turning off java script helps also, but then you can't log in. :sly:
Use the free xda app and things are much better. Use the premium and there's no ads and no lag at all.
If you are are experiencing issues with Google's Chrome browser try this.
Chrome Samsung support library
I will echo quite a few of the reviews and info I found online about it. I don't know what it is or what it does but it makes chrome perform much much smoother. Pages load faster, videos play quicker, more types of videos play, and overall the smoothness of browsing with chrome improves. Try it out, since it is an official google app it should not harm your tablet and it helped me.

It stopped my AdBlock after I downloaded it.
Good to know, I only use the plugin version of ad block in firefox and I only blacklist sites that do auto redirecting ads so I didn't know it could pr would do that.
Well as an update to this thread I went into a Samsung centre today and asked but I also tried one they had there and wow it was the same. They looked at mine and said that it was normal.
How this thing can be normal is beyond me, it only came out last year and it is like using something from 4 or 5 years ago. I couldn't use this thing as a tablet, okay I can get past how uncomfortable it is to hold because of the small bezels but the lag is sh!t. Surly to god I shouldn't have to move my finger 1-1.5 inches before the page starts to move.
Also things like the YouTube app, it keeps stopping the video with a "network error" message.
My other tablets are an ipad air 2, Surface 3 and a Surface 3 pro and my wife has a Surface 2 and they areally all smoother than this.

I'm the same I think. I just wanted an android tablet because I have a Note 4 and I will probably be getting the Note 5 when it comes out. My iPhone 6 is okay for private use but limited for work.
I'm not sure if I should get another android tablet or not but one thing for sure is that I won't be keeping this stuttering lagging thing.
It does look like a network problem with YouTube but I don't have any issues with it on any of my other devices. I never get lower than 130mbps and I have kept an eye on my WiFi signal and it never drops but not sure if it would show if it was a quick drop.

Wifi - might be RFI from some other wireless device in the area.... I have a set of wireless rear surround speakers. They gave my wifi a fit! They didn't keep me off the network but they put so much RF in the way that I could only see about 8mbps from speedtest.net. Once I figured out they were the problem, by simply disconnecting EVERYTHING that is wireless and turning them back on one at a time, I just changed the wifi channel on the router and the speaker transmitter so they were as far apart as I could get them in the spectrum. Now, I have 30mbps from speedtest!
