SanDisk 129gig sd card won't work with my 705. Read only file system error.
Card - SanDisk UHS1 Class 10
Steps taken
Formatted on PC expat, Fat32
Checked errors on PC
Formatted using SD Formatter
Formatted on device
Formatted using twrp
Checked permissions
Changing permissions to 777 does not execute on tab.
Card works fine on PC, mac & my s5.
Tab detects my card but cannot write. My 64gig card works fine.
Would appreciate a solution,
Thanks.

You need root access to write to the sd card or use the stock file manager.
If your 64gb card has write access then I guess you already have root. So must be the card. My Samsung evo 128gb works fine.
I have an Samsung 128gb working on my T800 10.5" with no problems.
Do a full format with the app below on your notebook then format it in your T705

John.
I had a SanDisk Ultra 128GB card that was behaving similarly. I too used the sdcard.org formatter, thinking that would be the fix.
It wasn't.
I found a tool called "h2testw" online, and tested the card. It failed in a big way.
Arranged an RMA with SanDisk and they replaced it within a couple of weeks. New card not only passed the h2testw tests, but now works perfectly as well.
Between cameras, cell-phones, portable-audio devices, etc., I must have 30+ SanDisk (the only brand I buy) cards, and not one had ever given me a problem until that one.
So, while rare, it happens. It would be worth the time to test it for read/write errors to at least eliminate that as a possibility.

So many fake Sandisk memory cards, I have only buy Samsung flash memory cards for years and have had no problems, and i check them all for errors before i use them.
sujitht : I dont think you can download a format-er, just use the one built into the tablet, in the storage section of settings.
edit: A good Windows based flash memory tester.

Hi,
Are you running lollipop?
Since Xposed is now working the module "HandleExternalStorage" did do the trick for me.

I have scandisk class 10 SD card 64 GB.
its formatted using the note 8 device (exFAT).
Whenever I try to download a file or copy a file in note 8 to the SD. It fails and reboots my device. knowing that reading from the SD is perfect. I can play music and movies from SD with no issues.
the only way I can transfer files to the SD if I connect the SD to the PC directly.
I am not sure if this is an issue with Note 8 or SD. please help!
Mine does the same thing. Ive tried formatting in exfat and fat32, didnt help. It writes fine to an old 16gb class 4 card ive got but not the 64gb. Sucks but at least it reads fine

I am not using any custom Roms. And i formatted my sandisk ultra 64gb more than three times but the same issue keeps happening. I also tried to find other apps to transfer movies and music files from Iinternal memory to sd but that didn't help. I can't even download directly to my sd. It reboots my note 8 if I try to download or transfer files to my sd.
Any suggestions?

I'm afraid nothing beyond painfully obvious ones - trying with another similar card, trying the card on any other device supporting exfat (if ok, this would provide definitive proof that card is ok), trying on freshly installed latest ROM, trying with the same card formatted in fat32.

It seems like this is the last resort. I will reformat my note 8 and try again. I also forgot to mention, that few weeks ago I was able to transfer one 800 mb file but this stopped happening. So it seems like there is not enough memory to transfer although I tried clearing the memory.
I will let you know if this reformatting the note 8 will fix the problem.

I am stumped! I got a Sandisk 64gb sd card for this. Naturally, it came formatted as exfat. From stock through 3 different CM based ROMs, I can't get this S4 to read the SD card. I even downloaded a partition manager to format it to Fat32. I also wiped it and let the phone format it. Even after that it would read it. I know CM now supports exFat format. I even flashed separately the script from the original thread. In any case my laptop has no problem with the sd card. Any help appreciated.
I have a Patriot 32 gb class 10 that was working fine until s couple of days ago. Then the phone said sd card unexpectedly removed. Pulled battery and card nothing. Did a format still nothing put that card in my Asus transformer tablet. read just fine took the card thatvi had in my tablet without formatting it put it in my s4 and it read it. this is my 4th galaxy device they should have figured this out by now. Any suggestions.

The sudden unmounting and/or sd card not being recognized by the S4 and other devices as mentioned is a known issue that is usually SD card related. Sometimes it's just a matter of reformatting your card to Fat32 if your ROM cannot read exFAT cards.
But if that's not your issue or you already reformatted your card to the appropriate format, the SD card has failed and warranty/replacement is suggested.
Can happen to SanDisk cards in addition to other manufacturers.
You may hear this issue being associated to SanDisk cards if only because they are probably the most counterfeited card out in the market. But the issue can occur to non counterfeit cards also.
To reduce your chances of having theses issues happen, always get your cards from reputable sources, in blister original packaging, etc. And if the price looks too good to be true, it most likely is. Even if you take the above precautions, you can still have issues.
Always back up your data for that 'Just in case moment' in case stuff happens.
Purchasing a card whose Manufacturer and/or Seller has an excellent return/exchange policy is a plus.
Having a spare SD card available can help you troubleshoot what your issue may be regarding a defective card, formatting issue, device issue, etc.
You may want to take a look at this thread, as it may help you out:

I started to reply to you but my laptop crashed. Seems this s4 just doesn't like that 64gb sandisk. I had an 8gb card laying around and that worked like a charm. The sandisk was foramted exfat out of the box. I formated fat32 and didn't work. I wiped it and left it without format. Put in the phone to let it format the card. It did--fat32 and then still wouldn't read it or even mount it.
I sure don't have anything to lose by trying a different program to format that card. It could come in handy even if I don't use it in the phone. A camera comes to mind.
Oh yeah, it was easeUS that I used to format the card in the first place. Try something else.

Hmmm...
There have been issues with the 64gb SanDisk cards being read by the S4 as well as other devices as described in my previous post, the Ultra cards from what I've read (red & grey) I have the save card, class 10, running without issue on my previous S3 and current S4.
You may want to try the format link above.
You can always purchase another 64GB card on Amazon with a Seller with many, excellent reviews, and go from there, and return what you have to return

Let me know how it goes
This happen to me but with my galaxy s3...turned out sd card was corrupted. Good news was Patriot replaced it with a new one....
If the SD card didn't work in other devices I would seek to exchange it. There are other things I can use it in. I just ordered a 32 GB G skill on new egg. That should do it. The other thing I tried on this sandisk is partition it to 2 smaller ones less than 30 GB each formatted to fat32. Finally it recognized one of those partitions. When I get the other card I'll swap them.

I had the same problem as you OP. I've also downloaded programs to change the format type and stuff, but nothing worked, but I fixed it in a weird way.
My 64gb card didn't work on my samsung. I used many programs to format the card to get it to work, but nothing. What fixed it was....
I took that card and placed it inside my old smartphone (LG G2X). Once placed inside, a pop-up promoted me saying my card was damaged and it will try to fix it. I've tried this on my samsung and it didn't fix it, but once I tried it on this old smartphone, the card for fixed and started to work on my samsung.
I don't know if this could help you, but that's how I fixed my problem.

I don't know what your problem is, then. My 64GB Sandisk card works perfectly in my Galaxy 4.
I don't know what me problem is either. When I have the time I going to return to stock and start over. TWRP won't backup onto the SD card either. Wondering if its behaving this way because I rooted the phone before putting SD card in. Though I have done complete wipe (including internal memory) prior to installing current ROM.

I have a SanDisk 64gb micro SD card in my S4, and had it ever since I got the phone about 1.5 years ago. now I am getting the issues you all are getting. I have NOT updated to a new firmware version. and I just backed up and reformatted the card. Very frustrating when all your apps disappear. come to find out they are all being stored on the SD card witch is now not responding... I will try a differect card. I wish they would just leave the phone a lot and stop doing so many updates.. they update one thing it screws up another. Ever since the first update my "Drive" app don't work, and they have no clue why.. not even Samsung knows...

Just curious as to how you got an S4, 1.5 years ago? :cyclops:
Odd SD Card Response
I have recently upgraded from a ATT Samsung Express (Tracfone) moving my 32GB SD Card into the brand new Galaxy S4 I Knoxed up right out of the box just as a matter of principle. I saferooted the phone and installed TWRP which for some reason refuses to load after a few succesful tries and a backup of my system and restore thern reload of TWRP. My concern in this question (unless some knight in shining armour can make sense of my TWRP issue) is that I am not able to write to the samsung branded SD card I removed from the old phone. I cannot create a ROM directory on it when the phone is connected to the PC, nor can I copy files to it. I had hoped to preserve the photos on the card and suppose I can break down and buy an adapter so it will connect to my PC but the point is it "should" work,, no? I cannot create a directory when the phone is connected to the PC nor can I in ES file Explorer. I've also tried to create a directory in root witth ES and am getting the same error. I just want to get the silly balloons off m screen and get google play to run. I am succesfully rooted. I've tried to reload TWRP with Odin only to get the small print int he uper right hand of the screen then no further. I am able to restore my backups thank God.
This is making me batty on a three step process. The card is my main concern right now as I can't load the ROM to it once I get TWRP figured out. Thanks in advance for all the great help I always get. The better I get the more I'll contribute....I promise.

I may be wrong but aren't some kernels limited to using fat/fat32 etc?
Or of course your 64er could be going faulty?

What you could try (even though I don't know how Android can handle this) is to create two partitions with each 32gb on your 64gb sdcard and see whether this works or not. Other than that I don't have too many ideas left :/

you can either do it with windows (Start > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Create and Format Hard Disk Partitions > Disk Management) or with a tool like paragon partition manager (isn't free so you'd have to search for a freeware alternative) and there you shrink your 64gb fat 32 partition to a 32gb fat32 partition and create a new partition on the remaining 32gb of unallocated space also with fat32.
your pc will recognize your sdcard as if there were two. Now that i think of it, I really am not sure whether android will recognize your 64gb or better both 32gb partitions on your phone or if Android will say that you sdcard is corrupted.
If you do that and android suggests to format your sdcard DON'T DO IT ON ANDROID. I got myself some fried sdcards there. So if it doesn't work out you can delete one of the 32gb partitions and enlarge the other again to 64gb but do that from your pc.
You'll need a card reader or usb adapter or something. It won't work with the sdcard inserted in your phone as Android now uses mtp rather than ums and you can't perform those tasks from windows with mtp.

Hmm ill give it a try later. Right now im guessing that my recovery does not support the sdcard. Im currently on CWM TOUCH 6.0.3.1. And looking for a rom with good battery life.
Guys I truly don't mean to be a stick in the mud about this, but you can search XDA and Google about this issue. A lot of people are having this exact same issue. That's why I said a 64 may or may not work with other brands, but the Samsung cards seem to always work like their suppose to (given they aren't defective). There are a few other threads about this on the forums as well. If you do by chance get it working please do share, and perhaps PM a mod and see if you can post a guide on it.
Note 2 has problems with some 64Gb card due to (here: my speculation) bad power supply and stabilization.
Kingston 64/10 makes my Note 2 unhappy.
Sandisk 64/U1 more or less stable with FAT32 but makes instability issues with exFAT.
Sandisk 32/10 and Kingston 32/10 are fully OK with FAT32.

I have the Tab pro 12.2 KK4.4.2 and purchased a patriot Micro SDXC 64 GB. My question is similar to other posts and I will try the posted solutions when someone can confirm the validity of the SDcard. Samsung specs for the Tab(SM-T900) state support for micro SDHC up to 64 GB. All of the reading I have done shows that the largest SDHC cards is 32GB and anything larger is a SDXC. So is my64GB SDXC card actually supported in my device? I have not been able to write MP3 files from my PC to the card or any other files with any success. Put I am able to do it fine on a smaller 16GB SDHC card. Can this version SM-T900ZKAXAC be rooted?
Thanks

It seems as though the tablet only supports Fat32 file system, while SDXC cards are only can only be formatted using exFat or NTFS. That being said I tried formatting my card with NTFS in hopes it might allow Fat32 after but it wouldn't format using NTFS.
Is no one else having this issue, as I have not seen 1 other post regarding this particular problem?

Mossey, do you happen to have a Windows computer?
plug the sd into a different phone if you can and connect as external. Click Start->My computer->right click and format to Fat32. I do this all the time

I thought for second you had the solution. I have another tablet and tried reformatting using it. I had the stick showing fat32 file system but it was 32gb vs 64gb. But the tablet recognized it initially, so l reformatted using the tab, but now the tablet looses the sd after it writes a few files to sd. Then if I try to view files on the tab, I get a message that the ext sd card may not be readable.

Hm interesting, it seems like it might be a permissions issue.
Can you try doing this on a device that runs something before 4.4.2? Kitkat is known to cause lots of problems with SDcards
hope you find the solution.

Again- Thanks. I thought it odd as well and it didn't add up. Although the SD card was working OK in my new Sony camera I decided to return it to C.C. for an exchange, voila problem solved. This still tells me that Samsung Technical support is useless. Everyone spent a lot of time trying to solve this issue. I still am finding odd things happening with Kies but I have found some work a rounds.
I tried my 64gb sandisk sdcard on my tablet. I can enter the main directory but when enter any folder there wasn't anything in folder.
Only show folder Does not show the contents of the folder.
How can I fix that?
For some reason the 64gb memory cards don't work too well on the tablets. I have a SanDisk ultra class 10 64gb and it always unmounts. I had to out a 32gb and (knock on wood) nothing has gone wrong.
I used a 64gb sanDisk card for a year with no problems. I have a 128 gb card in now and it works fine also. Are you rooted and running a custom Rom? Also have you tried to put card into a computer to see if it works there? You know when kit Kat came out they implemented restrictions on using a SD card and it doesn't work right . There are apps that fix the problem like root folder mount but you have to be rooted.

I used the 64gb Sandisk ultra in my Note 10.1 2014 before upgrading to the 128gb sd card(Sandisk too)... I can say I haven't had any problems with either except I keep running out of space on both...

it could be bad. Did you buy from Internet or store? I did have 64 gb one and it went bad. When you buy cheap from Internet they tend to be bootleg ones in official packing in. I couldn't write to it anymore and couldn't delete anything from it. I ended up going to best buy and bought a new one then returned the broke one. Its kinda weird that it works in one tablet but not the other. Just outta curiosity did you try to install root folder mount? If not try to install that and let it do its thing then see if it still doesn't work.
