thanks for this i managed to bring back the original ROM.
also just want to give background info. on this..
after I bring back Sense ROM in this unit, i will be surrendering it to HTC center because the LCD was broken and need of replacement.
last month i brought it there and they were charging me a couple of hundred dollars on top of the LCD replacement, due to the reason im using a different kind of ROM and such..
How can i guarantee that the ROM im using is a legit one and so i wont be questioned by them anymore and just replace the screen?
I checked the software info on my phone now, and it displays:
Android Version: 4.0.4
HTC sense version: 4.1
Software Number: 2.17.707.3
HTC SDK API level: 4.23
HTC extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20
i hope this can be any of help to you
If you run the ruu succesfully its full stock. You can't run another ruu then the one that is released for your phone with your software number ! Don't worry about that.
The only thing that they will see is the relocked bootloader, they always know its been unlocked before. That's all.
They can make a problem of that, because in certain cases unlocking means no more warranty

Ok guys.
Firstly I have searched and read till my eyes bleed, but cant find the solution to my update problem. Here goes.
Had my HOX replaced by insurance company coz i dropped my phone ,ooops, when i got replacement phone it was still on Android 4.0, so tried to update using About, check for update etc etc. Phone kept returning No Update available. So did the stop google framework stuff, that gave no results either. So i Unlocked bootloder at HTC DEVS rooted phone flashed new ruu, killed phone Double OOOPS!. Phone then would not boot or charge. so called HTC not terribly helpful, took phone to local repair shop, MMMM "sorry mate cant fix it" so decided to have another go. I have now got phone to come alive, i flashed android 4.03, with sense 4, and all is well, exept i still cant get the current update GRRR!, so my question is How can a get my phone to update to Sense 5 and JB 4.2.2. The phone appers to have been a Orange phone, but it has been supplied to me as an O2 phone, according to HTC at least. I have posted the Specs below as written in the Fastboot section

As well ment additional info :
When somebody is lower than 2.17 software a JB ruu like the 3.14 doesn't work. Indeed several options like :
Install the 2.17.401 ruu and then the 3.14 or ota up via official updates, or advised the 1.29 ruu and ota up.
Cheers
Edit :
That ota from 1.29 to 2.17 is probably canceled (because it's very old)
Install the 2.17 ruu and then the 3.14.401.31 ruu. That will solve it.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
In this case download RUU2.17.401.2 and install, after this try OTA update.
Hi Guys
Well al i can say is a HUGE thanks, i did as you suggested in the last post and bingo all the updates came flooding through one after the other. PERFECT!!. Just a small thing though, the 2.17 RUU you linked to didnt work, the file seems too small, i did find another one, which did work though. again THANKS THANKS AND THANKS again!!!

Hi guys, I´ve bought a DHD, it is my third DHD and the first with troubles. I always did the job using the instructions on htcdev website, but this time it stucks.
The problem? My DHD is a vodafone branded, software number 3.13.161.5 at the htcdev site they dont offer this RUU, only the 3.13.161.3 and of course it won´t work.
In the fastboot menu I got following infos...
ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 2.00.0027
RADIO 26.14.52.27
eMMC-boot
does anyone got this appropriate RUU to download so I can do the job, or can it be done on some other way, but please as easy as possible
Thanks

In htcdev site it says:
"NOTE: If you do not find your ROM version in the table below, and your ROM version is newer, then your device does not require the RUU. Please bypass these steps and continue to the next page."
Because you have newer hboot, just go to next page.
If you whant to get full unlocked bootloader S-off you can use AAHK2 by Phiber2000.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367322
But it's a little complicated.
Thank you for your reply, but I tried this already, and it wont work. Maybe because my HBOOT is 0027??? I´d rather not to perform a S-off cause I never did it before...
I open the CMD and type fastboot oem_get_identifier_token and the result is : ... INFO(ERR) Command error!!!
I cannot get the token!

Download that UK hboot from HTC dev, start ruu, find in temp rom.zip (or boot.zip, something like that), rename it to PD98IMG.zip, put it on a goldcard, go in hboot and flash it.
Or you can download the whole rom here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Ace
And the steps are the same.
When you downgrade it with whole ROM just run ruu form htcdev. You don't have to do it with goldcard.
Here is what I did... I download the UK 3.13.161.3 from htcdev found it in temp folder rename it and put it on my sdcard, because I couldn´t find a tutorial how to make a goldcard. Then I went to bootloader and the phone asked me do I want to flash it i choosed yes and the phone restarted. Than I run the RUU but I got the ERROR (191) ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED
EDIT:
I noticed that my bootloader says nov LOCKED so I try again reading the token and I got it, but after pasting the token htcdev gave me following message:
Unlocking Bootloader Failed!
Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:

We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. You can install HTC Europe + it's world wide (but it's litle older):
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.exe
Or latest for europe (turkey version):
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_227499_signed.exe
In some thread I was read that even people from US install it.
Yes, whenever you downgradeing rom or hboot or whant to install rom whitch is not for your CID on locked hboot you have to use goldcard.
You get error 191 because you are trying to downgrade on locked hboot.
To make a goldcard:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
(4. Go to this page, enter the reverse CID)
Because this page not working here is new one:
http://huygens.hoxnet.com/goldcard.html
Thank you very much, I did it. I just put the ROM.zip found in the temp folder on my sd card, renamed. Then went to bootloader it asked me to whether to flash or not. and than I could get my token...
Hey everyone, this is my first post on xda and I'm hoping I could get some help regarding my HTC M8. A while back I attempted to convert my M8 to GPE, but alas the process was unsuccessful (at least for the most part). I don't quite remember the cause because it was several months ago, but I'm pretty sure I made a mistake and took an OTA incorrectly. After the failed attempt, my phone ended up soft-bricked and displayed nothing but a black screen. Luckily, I was somehow able to get to CWM recovery and flash Skydragon GPE 4.4.4, which at least got the phone working for the most part. Unfortunately after the whole fiasco, the M8's bootloader background became black and displayed a broken "Android" lying on it's back. To make matters worse, the bootloader was S-ON and displayed the Hboot as 3.18.0.0000 (which to my understanding is the GPE Hboot and puts me in a catch 22). The Radio and OpenDSP displayed "INVALID_VER_INFO" and the OS displayed "1.57.531.7 (2.12.1700.1)". I recently flashed TWRP and the OS became blank.
I would really appreciate some help restoring my bootloader screen to normal and/or accomplishing one of two things:
Upgrade my phone from 4.4.4 to 5.x.x (The only rom which has worked was Sky Dragon 5.0.1, but Wi-Fi doesn't work which I've read is because of my current firmware.)
Restore my M8 back to stock sense with root.
I've tried flashing GPE and Sense Firmwares/Hboots, but all failed and gave me something like "error 99" (likey because it's S-ON).
I've tried gaining S-Off through Sunshine, but Sunshine says it needs a rom or kernel closer to stock in order to work.
I've tried flashing stock roms to get Sunshine to work, but they all fail and either get stuck at HTC load screen or give "error 7" (also assuming because Hboot is GPE and not Sense).
I've tried several different versions of alternative roms that could work with Sunshine such as ARHD as well as Maximus HD, but all fail and give "error 7".
I've tried to restore to stock with several T-Mobile RUU's, but they all fail and gave me "error 159" (probably because of conflicting Hboot 3.18).
So, is there anything else I can do? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Did you make the phone s-on, or did it somehow get that way itself?
The Sense ROMs will all fail to install, since you've converted to GPE partitioning, the system partition is now too small to accept any Sense ROMs.

You will only be able to flash firmware that is signed, and for T-Mobile. So if you are trying to flash any firmware that doesn't meet that description, its a waste of time, as they will fail.
Also, your bootloader needs to be LOCKED or RELOCKED to flash a signed firmware or RUU.

Possibly due to the 3.18 hboot. But make sure the RUUs correspond to hboot 3.19, which would be either 3.xx or 4.xx RUUs (Android 4.4.4 or 5.0). Older RUUs will have hboot numbers 3.16 and 3.17, which are guaranteed to fail (no downgrading of hboot allowed with s-on). So again, its a waste of time to try.
I would try to find and flash the T-Mobile 4.20.531 firmware, then try the 4.20.561 RUU.
I'm trying to return the phone to stock so that I can take an OTA update that I have put off because the phone was running Android Revolution. After returning to stock I may keep it stock for at least some time. At this point, what I know is that I need to flash a stock recovery, a stock ROM and relock the bootloader. But that's about the extent of it. I'm having extreme difficulties locating any stock files for my phone. I think some of my difficulties lie in the fact that my phone is S-ON.
The phone itself is Canadian carrier Rogers branded Running Android Revolution HD 7.0 (Android 4.4.2 Sense 6.0)

If you need any other information, please let me know. I do not care about data loss or anything like that. I had backed up all important media prior to fiddling with the phone. Any help at all to get me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I know there are other threads regarding this same thing, but some of them are over my head and/or contain dead links to stock files. I really need to know what stock file versions I need and how to apply them. Please bear in mind that I am S-ON and I don't really want to pay for sunshine, but will as an absolute last resort.
Thanks for taking the time to read!
There are many ways that you can do to revert back to stock. Most important is look at the correct thread.
I give you one of the options that you can do .... you can restore 1.12.631.17 backup and its stock recovery then do OTA. There is no need to relock bootloader.
What you need :
TWRP 2.8.1.0 - https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
(Don't use anything lower than that)
TWRP 1.12.631.17 backup - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722645382
1.12.631.17 stock recovery - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722642932
(Thanks to Team SkyDragon for the files)
What you need to do :
Install TWRP 2.8.1.0
Restore 1.12.631.17 backup
Install 1.12.631.17 stock recovery
Check for OTA and install OTA
repeat OTA checking and install as there are many OTAs that you already missed.

Thanks for the quick reply and useful information. I'm trying now to replace the content in the TWRP folder with the content from the TWRP backup I downloaded. But I'm encountering an issue. It won't let me copy the largest file to my phone.
Cannot copy system.ext4.win000
Its file size is larger than the device limit
The file size is 1,457,583 KB.
I had made a mistake earlier while trying to restore the backup. I think I had placed it in an incorrect file location. Now I have no OS. I can only boot to fastboot and recovery. How do I proceed from here?
Do you install TWRP 2.8.1.0 as I told you ? Seems like you skipped this.
Install TWRP 2.8.1.0, boot to recovery, go to mount and enable MTP (if not enabled yet) then copy the backup
The first thing I did was flash the appropriate version of TWRP. I'm on V 2.8.1.0.
MTP is already enabled. I left it on the Mount screen and attempted to transfer the single file over again. Same issue.
Is the free space enough ? Don't you have a microSD ? If you do, try to do it on PC (connect the microSD with a card reader to PC)
Also you can try 2.8.3.0 ...
I gotta go now .. good luck.

And if you refer to the backup as a "single" file .... that's wrong, you need to unzip the backup.zip to the respective folder !
You can not restore a backup as a single full zip file !
You are the man. I had 25GB of free space on the internal memory. I don't know why I encountered that particular snag. But I simply put it on an external SD card and did the restore from there. I am currently accepting and installing OTA updates. Thanks again so much. BTW, in case anyone is interested, I flashed pretty much every version of TWRP available when trying to do the restore. Most of the newer ones don't load at all. 2.8.1.0 seems to be the most stable.
EDIT: This also removed the tampered/red warnings on the HTC boot page. Don't know if that was to be expected but I was pleasantly surprised.

You can't load the newer TWRP versions because you have an old bootloader version 3.16.0000
After you completed all the OTAs .. in case you want to install TWRP again .. make sure to use the latest TWRP 2.8.7.0, not 2.8.1.0 anymore.
So I went to install the new TWRP but it looks like my phone is re-rooted. Do I go through the normal unroot procedure should I decide to put another custom ROM on it? I notice on this TWRP stock backup that SuperSU is installed. Haven't attempted opening it, though. I noticed in TWRP that it says this device is not rooted and asks if I'd like to unroot now. Can I use this option?
I see .. the stock backup is rooted. I don't think you can unroot it completely due to stock write protection enabled.
You should inform earlier then you can use 3.34.631.4 backup from my thread once you need to OTA to 4.20.631.2.
But it's ok .. you have stock binaries .. should not be a problem for future OTA even though the SuperSU app is there.
If you decide to install custom (which I know you do), no need to do anything .. just install the custom ROM.
Next time you need a pure non-rooted ROM, make a request in my thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
I believe your current ROM after the last OTA is 4.20.631.3. You'll need it later to update to next OTA.

Your device is a M8 eye, not M8.
I believe there is a backup for your device, I'll get back to you in 2 hours time when I'm home.
Thanx shall be waiting mate
Can you make a new thread for your case ? Your device is M8 eye and different region.
Don't want other people get confused when reading this thread for info.
Do the same as what you did here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gen...-off-stuck-t3235440/post63534687#post63534687
but in correct section M8 Q&A, not in other thread like what you did in this thread and here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc...-questions-t2897783/post63757540#post63757540
Just make a new thread .. I'll do my best to help you .. don't think the problem is complicated, just need right direction

It seems that you made a new thread but in wrong section again. I requested moderator to move that to correct section. Will respond once the thread is moved
