I was just browsing through my phones settings and noticed that my network mode is set to "Global" is this correct? I would think in US on Verizon it should be LTE/CDMA or LTE/GSM/UMTS? Thanks!

Global is pretty standard (worldy)
Verizon works best of CDMA/LTE (in my opinion as that's what they use for service)
and basically the LTE, GSM or UMTS mode is the one which pretty much opens up the phone to any carrier.

Hmm so I'm just assuming here but would you agree that having it on LTE/CDMA would save battery over global? My thinking is that with LTE/CDMA it's doing less scanning and less radios are active hence better battery over global which would have all radios active and scanning?

I don't think it would be much of a drain, I just changed it because no need for me to need to connect to another country ever

Well it wouldnt be LTE/GSM/UMTS.. , Verizon is a CDMA carrier. GSM/UMTS is GSM.

I have the SGH-I317 and when I go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu to change my raido to WCDMA only or WCDMA/LTE only it doesn't seem to save my changes even if I press the home button and leave the menu running in task manager.
When I'm at work my phone will switch between Edge and 3G all the time and it's draining my battery. Any ideas on how to fix this?
ATT has given us a real treat with the current generation of smartphones...
Both the SGH-I717, and the SGH-I317 on the ATT network are RAT restricted...
This prevents us from changing radio bands like we were able to do only a year ago on our other "not so smart"....smartphones..
Other carriers still allow this feature, but ATT does not...
Thank you AT$T......not.......g

Hey I was messing with this on my T-Mobile Note II and i changed my RAT mode to WCDMA and now I'm unable to get LTE.
I've done EVERYTHING. I've even ODIN restored it. It WILL NOT connect to LTE anymore. Nothing I do to it makes it want to connect to LTE.
What do I do? Why won't it connect to LTE anymore even after flashing the factory image?
Hy!
I just bought a new phone and wanted to find out if there are any differences compared to the EUR version?
The model number is the same - it looks like everything is the same except at the software updates: its v10I-SEA-XX not v10g-EUR-XX.
The only difference I found is that the updates are arriving earlier.
Can somebody confirm the differences please?
Thanks!

Hi Jah
There is a work round to this you can access the hidden menu
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and on preferred network type, choose lte/gsm/wcdma
This way you can get 4G without having to mod or root the phone.
I am pretty happy with stock at the moment. I think you need to reset it each time you reboot but to be honest not having to do that very often either.
I hope that this helps

Yes also with magic menu 3845#*855# but once you restart you need to use the magic menu again as it lost LTE connection. Also this version is not covered by European LG warranty.
I am not getting 4G LTE. It is staying on H (hspa). I have the one plus one and get LTE.
The info online says this phone should have all of the bands required.
Any ideas.

Check Settings - Mobile Network settings - Preferred Network Type and set it to LTE if you have this option and is not already set.
But I doubt that this is your problem. You bought the Taiwanese phone, didn't you? While OnePlus supports all ATT LTE bands (17, 4, 2), the Taiwanese Zenfone 2 doesn't support band 17 (nor ww model), which is otherwise typical for less inhabited aeries in the USA, but it seems that is widely used by ATT. Try the phone in the downtown or another city and you'll probably catch the LTE on other frequencies.
Yes I purchased it from Taiwan but all of the sites show so many bands for this phone. Asus does a terrible job with their model numbers. There are so many different versions with the same model number. There is a 4 g setting not lte and that is selected. I did pick up 4g while driving through part of the city.
Is there going to be a US model?
Thank you
Yes. There is a US model and its supposed to be released in the next month or so. The link below, click on specs, shows the LTE bands for each region. Clearly shows the Taiwanese model not having the 17 band.

That stinks. I took that page as it will work in all of these markets. Oh well
Thanks

I looked at it and TW, WW and US all have 1700 bands if that's what you are referring to. If not can you shed some light?

The topic is about bands not frequencies. There is nothing such as 1700 LTE band. Actually both USA and TW phones work on approximate LTE 700 MHz but bands are different because uplink and downlink are different. So TW model works on band 28 and US one on 17.

I see now. Tnx for the quick response. Hopefully I'm not outta luck when the phone arrives tomorrow from TW. Do you think that flashing later on a radio or baseband will solve this issue?
It's not that simple. Luckily Intel chip supports all LTE bands. But they must be activated in kernel too. Maybe someone will find the method to activate the missed ones. Otherwise you are not so bad. With TW phone you are short of only one LTE band of four major in the USA, Europeans missed 2 of 3.

Frequency wise is matches everything AT&T needs, i just picked up my 4g/64gb TW model, i'll be playing with apn's to see if i can get lte to pop. Only getting H+ so far.
Correction, shipped with WW firmware, no 700mhz for us.
More - As posted above, this Taiwanese version is missing the LTE band 17. And there are some areas that this may be the only band available, so you will not have LTE in those situations.
Thanks so much.... I was having a heck of time here with my Zenfone 2 in Tucson AZ on T-mobile.... I was stuck on 2G... but updating the APN to fast.t-mobile.com and 2 reboots seems to have done the trick. So glad I don't have to EBAY this! THANKS AGAIN.... Loving this thing so far!
Well ****! This is where I am stuck win H+ on ATT.
No way around this huh unless someone does a new rom? Or is it hardwired?

Dear friend
If you reside in a particular location and the nearby tower is having many bands of same operator. Our mobile phone latches to a particular band or a combination of band called carrier Aggregation or LTEA depending on the configuration of cell site. You can try any combination which gives best speeds at your place and also coverage.

May be while travelling should choose lesser bands for coverage.

Which company sim?
Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on why I'm not seeing 5g with a global edition 13 Ultra on Verizon in the US? I know it's missing some of the bands and I'm fine with that experience, but checking cellmapper.net suggests the areas I've been should still have some 5g availability on compatible bands. I've checked that it's set to 5g preferred, SIM was in a iPhone 13 Pro and Zenfone 9 previously, both of which were getting 5g in these areas, and I've checked that it's set correctly for preferred network type under *#*#4636*# from the dialer.
APN settings are mostly greyed out from editing, I can pretty much only add a name to one for what's allowed. VZWINTERNET entry looks fine though, and everything else such as mms/sms/calls/LTE data area all fine.
Phone is unrooted and I'm trying to avoid tinkering too much, but can unlock BL if it's absolutely necessary. I've got a US Mobile (Verizon MVNO) sim that also is only showing LTE for data if I pop that in.
Not the end of the world as I often switch over to LTE instead as it's often more reliable for me, but curious if it's still something I can get working.

Yeah that's what I was expecting for supported bands. Calling the carrier went about as well as I expected, "your Xiaomi device isn't compatible with the Verizon network, especially since it's missing Band 13. Do you have another device you can activate instead?". Looking around on Google, seems like carriers might be able to lock APN settings on a SIM, so that might be what's happening there, but not sure. Thanks for taking a look at it with me.
But B13 concerns 4g, anyway bands N77/78 have a low range and are mainly used in town.
