How hot is too hot? - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just been editing a few photos and I noticed my G4 getting very hot! I downloaded an app to get the internal temperatures but I have no idea if these tempuratures are normal or if I should be concerned. Here's a screen shot attached.
Thanks!

[Q] Galaxy Nexus really HOTTTTTT!!!!!

I don't know why is my Galaxy Nexux (Sprint) has been getting so hot. I unlock the boot loader and then root with SDK . I installed Cyanogemod 9 and I like to play two game in my GN Bat Walk, Briscola and there where my GN go's up getting as up to 129c. I tryed some other roms and kernels but no change. I'm right now with Paranoidandroid. Any Help will be appreciated.
You ever try using an app like setcpu to check your MHz settings?

129C? As in ~250F?
I think you're a bit off there, but make sure your not downloading anything over mobile data.
Playing HD video makes your GPU or CPU (based on rendering methods) hotter. Sometimes very hot to the touch.
If there's a evident dip in battery life, then it could be an issue with the CPU running when off.

i regularly reach the automatic shutdown/safety temp of 110C, by choice. at that temp the cpu shuts itself down. 65C is well withing the normal range, and well below the throttle temp. feel isnt a good judge of temperature. feel is relative. try this experiment and you will understand. take 3 glasses of water, one hot, one ice cold, and one room temperature. put your right hand in the hot water and your left hand in the ice water, for several minutes. now put both hands in the room temperature water. your hand thats was in the hot water will feel like its in cold water when put in the room temperature water at the same time. your hand that was in the ice water will feel that the room temperature water is cold. if the air around you is cooler, the phone will feel hot, if the air around you is warmer, the phone will feel cold.

[Q] Heating Problem

The top portion of my phone gets headed up. I am facing this problem from last one week.
Initially my phone used to stay cool even if I played games for hours. But now the top portion gets heated in just 5-10 mins if I play games.
Is this normal??
How hot it is?
since you said it did not heat up before this it's probably an issue you have to solve.
since the day I started using Samsung phones I never experienced during games.Only when charging
Contact Samsung and see what's their view on this.

The processor is probably located at the upper part of the phone.
After some time playing games my top part is getting a bit warm. My temperature is not that bad, nothing to worry about.
Stuffing a quad core (!) processor into a several mm thin phone will cause heat. Nothing to see here, just doing it's job.
Not experienced heating issue at all, the might be faulty.
I have had 2 not had this proble might be worth getting replacement.

If it gets hot without doing anything, only then it can be faulty or else while using it hard is understand able. My s2 used to get hot from top, s3 from bottom and now note 2 from top while playing hd games. Not a concern for me as it gets back to normal very soon

I suppose it depends on the severity of heat and what apps or functions are running. If it's gaming for long periods then perhaps phone may get heated but like I said I haven't experienced this myself.
The only time I've noticed my phone get hot is when it's been in my trouser pocket...but then that's a pretty hot region anyway.
I switched off quick glance about an hour ago. The dim red light of the sensor has turned off now. Played a game for about half an hour with no heating problem.
I think it was the quick glance which was causing the problem. I also removed open s voice via home key.
Can someone please confirm whether quick glance can cause this problem.
36º it's a very usual temperature, it's not dangerous. If you want, you can downclock your CPU for a lower temperature.
are you using the original charger? or original battery?
Yes I am using original battery and charger. Now the temperature stays around 32 C while playing games.

I was playing zombiewood and my note 2 was peaking at 37c.
I think it was starting to affect the game a bit as the left joystick over the hot part would sometimes get unresponsive. Might be coincidence tho.

What's the average temperature of note 2 ?
Mine stays around 32.

The battery is idle at 25 and my peak is 32.

Phone gets hot

Hi there!
I purchased an LG G3 a day back. The phone gets hot even while performing minimal tasks such as using whatsapp for a while, or browsing. And the battery levels drops very quick. Any solution?

The power button and it's surrounding area gets very hot. Also, the top quarter of the screen gets hot. The rest of the phone stays cool

That's where the processor is located that's why it gets warm in that area. Is your phone rooted at all? It could be all of the bloat running in the background making it get warm. I don't have any heat issues on my G3 but then again I disabled or uninstalled everything I don't use. It will get warm but it shouldn't under a light load.
Edit:
Is your brightness turned all of the way up? That will definitely make the phone get hot.
There is something eating up your cpu. Or 100% brightness as Pilz said.
It's normal
A lot of people have been saying there's us hot mine us to runs 90 to 115. Fahrenheit. Lg knows about this idk if there fixing it or what. I run coolify and when it runs it tells me the temp and the temp are normal. So it's normal I assume
If your phone is running very hot then I suggest you do fresh firmware reinstall using PC Suite. Do a LG Backup and it will pretty much restore it to your previous state.

Overheating problem on G3 D855

Hello everyone,
I have a LG G3 D855 and been using it for about a month now. The phone is getting heated very quickly. The phone will decrease it's brightness automatically. But even then it's getting burning hot very fast on normal use and on very low brightness.
Is this my phone's defect?
Any method to solve or prevent this?

Just now, for the first time, tried to record some video at the highest setting. I say try because mid way through my camera app shut off and the phone went to my main screen. I then got a warning about overheating. This is not good. I seen this post and thought I would chime in with hopes there is a solution. I was really bummed as I would have loved to have the video I was shooting in the highest quality. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me, and the original poster, know. The only difference between myself and this OP is that I have the D851.
i uograded to lollipop now the overheating problem seems to be lowered

Decreasing the resolution of the screen seems to be working just fine?
I used the app 'Resolution changer power menu' to decrease the screen resolution to 1920×1080 with 530 dpi. All the apps are working just fine and the heating problem have decreased quite well.
You live in quite warm country, use 2k screen at 100% brightness (who does that), and probably have tons of apps in the background while you record 4K video. You watch few videos from Youtube, surf the net, and most likely these apps have made your phone warm. Bad reception areas makes the phone warmer too as it has to constantly search for better reception.
Basicly what I am saying is, your phone is most likely hot even before you start recording the video, so no surprise it takes you away from it.

Is there too much heat on the G4?

I have read good reviews of the device but also some bad ones that day out gets too hot. Is this a major issue? I'm about to go on a Verizon family plan and want a good device.

I randomly get a heat problem. However, I got them with my Samsung phone as well. It seems like the problem was always some Google service running in the background. A reboot seems to fix it when this happens. Btw, these are few and far between for me.
i have not had any heat issues in the 1-2 months I've had the phone and I'm a very heavy user. It does occasionally get warm but never hot to the touch.
note - the device has a 6 CORE processor on it. It's going to have a little bit of heat when you work it
How about touch screen problems, do you have those or is that only some devices?

I have no problems with the touch detection, but my phone gets really hot after a few reboots when I'm flashing and such.

Lg g4 is great i have no issues with heat unless out in a hot area playing a game on full brightness. Phone has a throttle to keep it from over heating, i get a few touc delays here and there. But it could be the screen protector. Although i enabled developer options and force 2d gpu and and disable animations. Its all smooth sailing there. Top. It off its a great phone to me i love it. I love it better with root. I hate verizon and others bloat ware
I just got the LG G4 and I'm real happy with it so far. Other than the bootloader that is...

I've only noticed this when outside on a sunny day where it's already hot, plus the screen at 100% brightness can make the phone pretty warm.
