I understand that HTC disables the FM radio function at Verizon's request but that when the phone is rooted, it will work like normal. My phone is rooted but with the HTC FM radio app or NextRadio, all I get is static.
Does anyone have it working? Just thought to try a different set of headphones too...

Tried the HTC headphones that came with the phone and still no-go. Anyone?

My scans but only finds one station which is only static becuz i dont have 87.7 in my area ... on viper 2.2.0
Mine scans as well, finds nothing, and stays on 87.7. You can manually tune to whatever frequency you want.Using NextRadio, it does list all of my local stations but I figure it just determines my area and lists them.

So is FM radio possible on a Verizon M9? From what I have read Verizon disabled the FM chip. Or had HTC remove it entirely. I can't find an answer for this.
---------- Post added at 12:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:05 AM ----------
I think we all need to write Verizon to demand they give us back our FM radio. This is the only way to reach them unfortunately. Calling does no good.

Please excuse me if this has already been addressed but has anyone gained access or control of the FM radio chipset in the G2. It's my understanding that the G2 has a FM radio with RDS. I also remember reading a post on this forum about someone verifying the existence of a FM emission from a G2 on a constant freq. but this was before anyone had even temp root if i remember correctly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Sweet, can it transmit? My wife wants to play her music in the car.

They had to reverse engineer access to the chip since HTC wouldn't release the source so, for now, it can only receive as sorting out the transmit will take time and there's more pressing issues (like Gingerbread!).

FM
FM receive is also in Visionary ROM. I am using version 0.9.0 and can highly recommend it. I don't think it does transmit in this config, however.
Giving this a bump.....
Is FM transmit upcoming in cyamogenmod 7 by any chance?
You might want to look into buying a Motorola MotoROKR.
I use it every day, and its GREAT. connect your phone to it via bluetooth, then pump any audio that would normally come out your phone, to your car speakers, with NO wires..... its GREAT.
Highly recommended.

I don't it transmits either. Or I can't find it at least how to make it do so. Receiving it does a great job though
a transmitter would make this phone complete :]
good news, i thought it was cut from hardware.
Hi
Is there any way to activate the FM radio on the PLAY, not via the internet (which I can't use everywhere, because I don't have an unlimited plan... so expensive in Mexico) actual FM radio, as all Samsung phones do... (they even have FM radio recorder, god I miss that feature on my Jet).
I currently purchased a MW600 Set which have FM radio so I can have it even without the need for the phone, and so far it have been working great, but kind of missing that feature I used to have for 3 years on my previous 2 Samsung phones (Tocco F480 and Jet S8000)
I read somewhere that the phone have the hardware and is capable to run the FM radio but it was blocked by SE for battery saving purposes.
Is there a workaround to unlock it?
Also does anybody else think is funny that the Xperia play is the only Experia without FM radio ? due to it great capabilities it SE should give us the flexiblity to decide if we want it or not.
Thanks
I think it needs to be enabled when making a custom Rom? not to sure
The Xperia Play does not even have an FM radio unlike the other Sony Phones that do have one.
Actually the R800 schematics posted somewhere on this board show it *does* have an FM radio. No idea if it's accessible though.

Hi
I would have put this under the BlackJelly thread in the dev forum, but it seems that I'm not yet allowed to post replied there. So, I'm posting here, in hopes for help.
I have a few issues, but I will open them up in seperate threads, as though they are all about basic issues w\ BlackJelly, they are still quite distinct.
I'll start off by saying that generally speaking, I LOVE this ROM. I do, however, have a few issues that I need to take care of.
One of those issues is the FM tuner. It doesn't seem to exist. Is there any way of adding this functionality. Something to flash or an apk or something?
Thanks!
Tal

There are quite a few internet radio apps (like pandora) but I'm not sure about FM radio specifically.
Thanks for your input, but I didn't mean internet radio. I meant using the device's fm radio. As in not via internet.
anyone else got an idea?

Sadly North American models did not get the FM radio hardware. It's not possible... sorry
Put all your questions here to keep it cleaner or post in the "stupid Questions" thread and we can help there
Really???
That is so strange and such a shame.
Thanks for the help!

Apparently, losing FM capability was the trade off for getting LTE.
International version of the S3 has it the other way around.
Hmm... That's a bummer. Especially seeing as I have no idea if LTE actually works in my country. Is there any way of knowing if I'm using LTE or not? (Other than asking the cell-phone company reps, who are completely unaware of what LTE even means)

Well, mine says that too, until I turn my data on! Is your data on?
I know there is another topic with similar info... however after reading through several posts, I am still unclear if the FM hardware is physically disabled or if it is simply a software block?
Has anyone with an unlocked phone found a way to get the FM radio to work?
Isn't accessible in the Car app? And then later on there was an update for the TuneIn Radio app and that's where I get my FM radio now.

I am pretty sure it is a software block.
So has anyone else come across this issue?
I haven't tested the google music player, but using Pandora, metadata were not being sent to the bluetooth player, just like the note 3 before it was updated to KK.
Any one else experience this?
Bump!
Really miss that feature. I listen to a lot of unknown music in my car through Google play Music and i liked the metadata in my headunit. Tried several players to no avail.
Any Solutions yet?

This fixed it for me. Search Google Play "autoaudio" VW Golf 2014. Also shows most recent notifications which is nice.
Thanks. will test and report later...

I'm having this issue as well. Mazda 3 nav unit. Very annoying.
Bumping this. I'm getting no tags (2nd gen Mazdaspeed 3). Some people have said they get it for music on the device just not for streaming i.e. Pandora. I get none from the built-in music player or Poweramp (or anything else). My GNex worked perfectly in this regard (after rooting and upgrading the BT stack), kinda disappointing that it doesn't work on a brand new handset.
Have been playing with the BT-settings in the secret service menu. Tried checking and unchecking SIG profiles , Apt X, LG AVRCP 1.3, starting and stopping services in all combinations to no avail.
It is even written there in the menu. Just doesn't work. Shiznitz.

I'm not aware of that menu. There's also the "Audio channel" setting in the bluetooth options, but it looks like that would disable the calls/notifications... I also tried that AutoAudio app, it displays the info properly in the app, still doesn't show in the car though.
Tap 3845#*855# in the Dialer - brings you straight to the Service menu.
If you have the international G3 D855 model that is.

I seem to recall this being the case on my S3 when it ran 4.4.2 and it got fixed when it bumped to 4.4.3, so maybe it's the android version that's the issue. I noticed the same thing and that was my first thought.
I was having the same problem and can confirm that autoaudio fixed the problem in my 2014 Kia soul with the infinity audio upgraded head unit with nav. Works fine now ??
I was thumbing through some system files and I found this.
In the Bluetooth system settings, it shows a confirmation of using AVRCP 1.4 instead of 1.3.
Since I can't make a back up and I'm afraid of doing harm to my Verizon G3 (again,) maybe someone can look into this?
Its under system > etc > bluetooth as a file called device_config.xml
Just a thought.
I can confirm the Autoaudio app works on my ATT D850 and my Ford. I use Beats Music and it shows track information in my car.
On my ATT 850, tags work around 50-60% of the time. It's strange. There's also quite a noticeable delay between tracks.

No, that was stock. I am going to try the autoaudio app today.
Having the same issue with my D855 running 10h-EUR-XXX rom. Car is a Chevy Camaro ZL1 2014.
And I also get stutter in the audio transfer from time to time. Like a small lag... Very annoying!
