Headset not supported - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I just got the Z1C and can't get the headphones to work. When I plug them in I get the headset not supported message. Clearing Smart Connect data and cache / force stopping it doesn't work, reboot doesn't work. Any ideas? I got the headset with the phone (bought in Germany)..
Thanks

look inside the jack port, sometimes it is dirt inside.

No, but I tried three other and they all work .

Then, maybe its a broken cable

[Q] phone starts calling automatically

When I plug in my earphones my phone starts to call the last person I spoke to. This happens a couple of times in a row and then it stops and I can watch video or play music without interruption. Does anyone have an idea what this is and how I can fix it?
Had the same problem here ....Can not figure it out either. I have the HTC headset that connects directly into the usb jack'. Sometimes it will happen constantly and other times never happen. I noticed though when it starts to happen and I soft reset the phone it seems to stop the issue for a while. I have two different headsets and the same thing happens to both. But it definitely only happens when there is a headset in use.
I've had this happen a few times (just a couple times over the course of a year), while plugging in the HTC adapter that came with the Tilt 2, that looked like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Mini-USB-Headset-Adapter-2-5mm-3-5mm/dp/B002HNTHKM
I use this adapter in the car, to charge the phone and connect the audio to my car stereo via the 3.5mm jack.
With this same setup, I've also randomly (just a few times also) received a message on the phone's screen to pick the output type (NTSC or PAL) for the video out adapter (when obviously, there is no video out adapter connected).
It APPEARS (not certain) that the times that my phone dialed itself, the adapter was not quite properly seated in the phone's ext-USB jack. Since the HTC headphones have the ability to place calls, I'm thinking there is something going on with the ext-USB jack and plug (short circuit, fouled connection, etc.), where it thinks you are pressing the call button on the HTC headset.
I've seen similar posts on these forums, where the video-out message was possibly traced back to bent pins on the ext-USB jack. Maybe you have a similar issue. Its possible you have bent/damaged pins on the ext-USB jack on your phone, of on the headset plug. Try examining the headset plug, and the ext-USB jack on the phone for broken, missing pins, etc. If possible, try a different HTC headset, and see if the issue persists.
I am currently having this issue and it also only happens when the adapter is plugged into my phone. So does that mean the connection on the adapter could be defective? Is there a way to disable automatic calling from the earphones?

This is often an issue with the adapter or headset you are using. Try another one. Its possible the pins in the phone's ExtUSB socket are bent/damaged. There was a similar thread about this a little while ago. The OP tried a different headset, and it solved his issue.

Toggle google voice search on/off

Anyone point me to a dev who could write me the change to source that would allow me to toggle google voice search disable/enable from my homescreen please...?
I have the issue where plugging in my aux cable to run my device thru car audio system annoyingly triggers google voice search as soon as I plug in the cable to headphone jack and I have to turn it off 3-5 times as it just randomly keeps turning back on and then it finally settles but then randomly the mic won't work when i get a call... it's acting buggy so I even tried a fresh GApps package to no avail.
It was fine when i had Android 4xx versions on this Z1c and started as soon as I put CM12 on it.
Weirdly the google voice search app shows as an icon in my apps list which I can happily press and open and it takes me to the 'listening' screen that annoyingly triggers on with the aux cable, but if I go to settings->apps->all there is no sign of it to try and disable....? how can it not be in there...? If there I could make a shortcut to that point. I have root but no idea where within the system files I might locate the very place I need to go.
Oh.... and plugging in the hands free headphones that came with the Z1c works perfectly and of course they have a 4 pole jack with the mic section. My aux cable is 3 pole because it doesn't need mic ability as it's only transferring the output to car audio.... and as i said this 3 pole aux cable worked fine with JB and KK.
I'm gonna try a 4pole male to 3 pole male cable when it arrives in the post, but I think this has to be a software issue.... so simply turning off Voice search as and when I choose would be a workable and straightforward solution for me.
Any help much appreciated

Bluetooth pairing problems

Hello, I am getting weird problem when using bluetooth devices with my HTC 10 (stock rom)
I bought a bluetooth device with aux-in for my car radio.. That way I only enable BT on my phone and devices connect without problems.
But I also have a small Bluetooth speaker I use when I renovate the apartment (JBL GO).
The problem is when I paired car bluetooth device so it can connect automatically and after that also connected bluetooth speaker this one does not want to connect. If I unpair car bluetooth device, the speaker connect normally.. also if speaker connect and I come down to my car and try to pair to car bluetooth device, it doesnt want to connect/pair... Again if I remove BT speaker from paired devices, car bluetooth device connect normally...
Why is that, anyone knows a solution? Why can I have only one BT device paired with my phone?
Thank you for answers
i have this problem too.
Had this problem myself.
Updated to the latest firmware, rom and kernel.
Currently using cleanslate.
Turn on the BT device, make sure no other BT devices are in the near radius which may confuse it, no wireless devices (I know hard in this day and age)
Turn on BT on your phone, hold it up clearly (not laying down) close all apps, and open the Bluetooth menu.
Click the Bluetooth device to make sure it's ready to pair. Then scan on the phone.
Should start picking it up.
Repeating this and turning the BT device on and off periodically, allowing for several attempts at a time before switching off..
Even really it'll work, perhaps a different rom or kernel combination may help..
I have had this problem, once connected it'll always work and work well. It's odd
Same issue somewhat..I really want to keep this device...i dooooont want to go back to the s7. But on the S7, i could have my Gear S2, Sync and LG Tone all paired at the same time...If i got a call they would all ring and i could answer on whatever device...now if i have the LG on, sync wont find the device. or the phone wont allow for sync to use the Phone, because the S2 is using that feature...what gives? just me?

Do you have another device to try it with? i have had a similar problem, but its just my terrible bluetooth rockford deck causing me grief, and an ebay pill. But it did it with a lg g3 and xperia phone as well. so i chalked it to that
Seems like HTC only allows one bluetooth profile at a time. Like it will only allow one device to use the phone profile or one device use the media profile.
I have to turn off my tone for Sync to connect. Sucks.
I've had this problem since purchasing the HTC 10 about a month ago. My Bluetooth earphones work without issue, but I've been unable to connect to my car or portable speakers (pairs but never connects).
After reading this thread, I unpaired the earphones, cleared all devices, and I was finally able to connect to my portable speaker. So glad I found this topic.
Still, I'm hoping for a fix. I don't want to bother with pairing and unpairing just to connect to a different Bluetooth device.
Similar problem
Hello !
I am having a similar issue!
I have been trying to register and pair my phone with my car's Bluetooth.
Every time I try to pair with my car an error message pops up saying "couldn't pair with Hands Free System because of an incorrect PIN or passkey" except it never even prompted me to enter the passkey...
Things I have already tried:
Resetting network settings
rebooting phone
Factory reset phone
Also , I do not have any other devices paired with my phone.
Any suggestions??

Stuck on earphones mode

Hello
it looks like i's stuck with the earphone mode while it's unplugged, the icon still here
i noticed it when i had call, people and me cant hear each other. but if i activate free-hand speaker i can ear them (not them since i guess it waits for for the sound from earphones mic)
(rom v10.0.3.0, update to 10.0.4.0 fails)
anyone experiences that yet? and better, anyone would have a solution?
thanks in advance to readers and for ideas
try shortcutter, theres a few options/toggles for directing sound to earpiece etc.
Try to plug and unplug earphones several time if it fails to remove the headset icon try cleaning the port with tooth pick with small thin cotton rolled around the tooth pick but be gentle with that not to damage the port permanently
If all of this fails you have to ways either go to Mi customer service to replace the port
Or you just download (Soundabout app) from Google play and route your sound ports manually
Hope to get fixed
well thanks to both
i tried so many things, material ant software, nothing worked
and when i woke up today, it was gone and works now perfectly with or without hearphones
wont be a big hlp for next people in need but im glad it works now
