Yes. While the camera app is open and the front camera is selected, tap the 'settings' icon (the geared wheel) and you'll see an icon that looks like two heads in profile. They will be both facing the same direction by default. Tap them so they are facing away from each other. Now, while the image will still appear on the screen mirrored, the resulting picture will appear normal.

So you guys never seen a mirror?
It is just a preference. Things normally have to be flipped when you use a FFC for selfies and video.

I just noticed that when using the camera, a swipe to the left brings the last taken photo.
I'm on a 4.1.2 rom
Usually I pay attention to new android features, but I didn't remember reading about this one, so I thought I would share...
This was even announced along with 4.1 at Google I/O this summer
Unfortunately in 4.2 your can do the same thing on the permanent lock screen widget, exposing your gallery to everyone who might come across your phone.

no, not with a secure lock screen. it shows a padlock then asks you to enter your password

Yep, just tested it. Really stupid.
Though, on the flip side, I tried something I didn't realize before - tried to access the phones internal storage via USB and it wouldn't show anything until I unlocked it once after it was connected.

Oh, you're right. I could have sworn that it didn't need unlocking, but it seems you're right.
You can use this app too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34093005 It works well.

OMG the swipe saved a potential high jacker of my photo Two clicks... I don't get why everyone is up in arms about the lock screen camera. When using a secure lock it will only show photos taken during that session or nothing at all. If your unsecure then it takes two swipes to do what two what taps will do on every single other phone running iOS 4+ or Android 4.0+. Seriously swipe to the camera icon or tap it on a iOS device and then tap gallery... Voila all the gallery is there....
Seriously I don't really get all the hatorade being thrown towards Google over swipe to camera... Its fantastic IMO, abit slow though
Yup, this was there since 4.1.

I'm not sure we talk about the same thing; at some point the discussion shifted to lockscreen, but what I originally meant was: when you use the camera app (when you can see on your screen what is seen by the camera) then you can swipe to the left to bring the gallery; I know you can also click on the thumbnail preview at the bottom, but swiping is easier when you use the phone single hand
While in the gallery view you can fling up or down to delete pics.
Hi all.
I have some questions regarding the new camera app in 4.2.
Why is there a difference between the camera I open from the lock screen widget and the actual camera out of the menu? For example when I take a picture with the widget camera, swipe to the left so have a look at the picture, I can only "delete" it. There are not the regular options like "share" or anything. I first have to go back, unlock, open gallery, find picture and then "share". Why is this??
Also, when I take a picture and afterwards have a look at it in the gallery, it actually captured more of the thing I wanted to take a picture of (I think about 10% at top, bottom, left, right). Has anybody else this issue?
And of course, the very frustrating lag when turning the device from landscape into portrait or vice versa, but like I read in other topics this is everybody's issue.
Thanks all!

That is for security reasons. Otherwise anybody who gets a hold of your phone could share your pictures anywhere he wants. If you disable your unlocking option (or set it to "move finger") you'll get the full menu including the icons for sharing.

This was most likely the reason.
But, correct me if I'm wrong, the camera can only be accessed via the 'Slide' screen lock, which isn't secure at all.

Yeah you're wrong. There is a huge camera icon sitting on the first page of the menu. I don't think anyone will miss that.
Why have the real time face effects in video recording been removed?

The camera actually take more than what we view on screen. That's annoying when I take a close up picture, it become farther view than what we seen on screen

you can also acces the camera using a lock pin. i didn't try with other security means (pattern, faceunlck, etc..) but i guess it's the same thing. personally, i like this feature a lot.
Is anyone else having trouble taking screenshots? Whenever I do it successfully shows that the screenshot is taken and I can view it in my gallery, but whenever I try to share it, it's just a black image. Does this have to do with the screen settings or something? Also if I take a screenshot and try to open it with an app such as Pixlr, it shows the image but it is like distorted with a grid array of black squares. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I was using the default app with the phone. I also tried using Pixlr and it does the same thing. Like when I try to see the image in my gallery at first it is black on the preview, then when I actually press it to open it it shows the image. When I back out, it is back black again. The screen like flickers as well on certain images, I am assuming because of the adaptive display? I tried taking a few more screenshots last night and it seemed to work, and then a few hours later it went back to showing black images.

No, what I mean is when you click the "share icon", which app do you use to share the images? For example, do you share using Gmail, Pushbullet, Hangouts, etc.? Also have you tried turning off Adaptive Display? That shouldn't be the issue but you never know.

Ah, I was using Kik or directly through text messaging. Like even in my gallery the screenshots show up as black, unless I click on the image than it loads. I have the screen on Basic right now and its still doing it. Its weird as I tried doing a few last night and it began to work normally, and now its doing the black image thing again.

I have the same exact problem with the Verizon version. Screenshots turn very dark and get diagonal lines. If I use Photos to view them, they're just black with diagonal lines. Then when I text these images, the recipients get black images too. I've factory reset the phone, and that fixed it... until I started downloading my apps and Samsung updates. I'm not sure which app creates this issue, but it'd be tough to hunt down the culprit one by one. (I have over 350 apps).
To take a screenshot it's the volume up button and the start key. May it helps you some.

what is the "start key"?
I also faced similar problem like u few months ago, when I took screenshot some times it show in gallery and sometimes a black image with no thumbnail error come, dis was because of low memory, so try to free up some internal and SD memory, use clean master to clear to cache memory, or clean files manually.

I'm sure you're being sarcastic. To most, it's commonly referred to as the 'Home' button. On later Touchwiz devices, you can just swipe your palm horizontally across the screen to capture a screenshot.
I dont know what device you are using, but on the t mobile s6 edge, volume up and the home button do NOT take a screenshot

Works just fine for me.
LOCK button and home button, not volume button.
Press them both at the exact same time and hold them until you see the snapshot.

It was Vol Up + Power button on other devices like Nexus, pure Android. And CM roms.
But Samsung has always been Power Button + Home Button.

Hi Guyz. I find some spots on the screen when on max brightness. Can you please try the below and let me know if you face the same.
navigate to messages or contacts -> pull down the notif bar and turn to full brightness -> Do you see any spot like thing below the brightness toggle on the white screen of messages or contacts?
navigate to messages or contacts -> pull down the notif bar and turn to full brightness -> Pull down to expand the notif bar -> Do you see any distortion kind of thing above the navigation bar?
Attached images. Zoom and see it.

Just got the 7T, coming from a Pixel 3. So far I'm really enjoying it but there are a few things that slightly annoy me and can't figure out how to address:
1.) I realized that I wasn't getting a notification in the status bar for google play updates. If I swiped down, the notification would be in the shade. After spending a lot of time searching through everything, I noticed in the shade (where you swipe half way on a notification to reveal a gear icon) that the notifications were on "Other", just as it was on my pixel 3 but didn't experience this issue. I then changed it to "Important" notifications. This helped, but now when I have my phone on ring or vibrate, I get notified of an app update or when an app has finished updating (rings or vibrates)*. This isn't a huge deal, but it slightly annoys me. Is this common for OnePlus? Can anyone help me trouble shoot?
2.) Another issue I'm experiencing started right before creating this thread (Which is what prompted me to seek your guys' help). The OnePlus launcher updated. Now whenever I slide up from an app to the app switcher, I get a little a vibration. Again, not a huge deal, but I prefer not to have that every time as I'm always switching apps. I can't find where to shut that off.
3) Lastly, in the camera app, I cannot glide my finger to see all camera modes like the pixel 3. I have to tap each one individually in order to get to the mode I want if it's off screen. This seems counter intuitive. Again, is this a OnePlus thing or am I going insane?
No big issues, but if you can help me figure these out or put me in my place by telling me this is how OnePlus works, I'd greatly appreciate it.
*This also happens for LastPass as well.

I've noticed the exact same thing in Camera App. Look's like a feature It's quicker/easier to simply swipe up this bar to access all mode selection.
