HI all,
I have been trying to root my HTC One M9 mobile which is branded under Vodafone. I have been scouring the internet for anything that will help, but to no avail - I have run into a couple of problems:
I don't have the Fastboot option when I go to Settings > Battery on this device
When attempting to load the Bootloader, I get the S-ON error.
I have tried using the HTCDev and when I try to do the initial fastboot i get what is shown in the attachments.
The phone is currently running Android OS 5.02... and I also had a look at this link but couldn't make heads or tails on what was done - http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/help/s-off-change-firmware-vodafone-branded-t3099330
Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Fast boot is actually download mode now, I know confusing.
Go to HTC Dev, then get yourself a custom recovery and then a ROM.
Done, there are quite a few guides out there mate

Hello anyone,
Today I had done step by step form this guide. Everything went correct, every MD5 sum were pass, and last was correct with first and second. My DHD was rooted and fully unlocked by AAHK, but I needed to flash radio for new ROM what I want to flash in the future. I have stock ROM 2.3.3
Author of the guide warning "if checksum don't pass do not reboot..", but everything was fine, and my DHD is bricked, it doesn't turns up. If I connet device to the PC, and wait 3-4 min then I see HTC logo and phone start vibrating all the time, that makes them hot after few seconds. I do not want to break it more then I taking battery out.
Is any hope to save my DHD? Year ago with another DHD I used the same guide and everything went correct too, but that one works fine, that one nope.
I can help

The other device in the future will eventually become like your second. One must never mess with the eng boot unless they are tech savvy. You could try an ruu or the dumbass post to fix your device.

I also need your details...s off....boot loader unlocked??
Yeah, I'm a dumbass
Now I see "[...]everything is permitted", I'm just worry about leave the phone vibrating, it makes phone really hot. I think this phone is rescued from another brick, cause before I made superCID I saw Chinese CID. Coincidence? But I'm not sure I had froyo in that one.. hm..
If you asking about it I've made fully unlock by AAHK, in BL was "ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF RL", have a root, busybox, superCID, CWM - everything.
..but S-OFF was done earlier, before I bought it.
Sorry for my english
OK it's done, phone is resurrected by wizzards from xda. You have my thanks :good:
..but still I'm a dumbass
No. Youre not a dumb butt. You managed to fix your device!! How did you manage to fix it? So others can learn...thanks
Is nice what are you said but I saw I need to learn much more. With that people like you I will really, I'm very grateful to you, you have save my phone. I saw many pages but in my country search do not show me that page may some day I help you, I hope

You're welcome
I'm unable to unlock the bootloader for the HTC Desire HD.
A friend give me a Desire HD stuck in bootloader. When I try to unlock the bootloader using fastboot and the Unlock_code.bin file everything seems to works fine but when the phone reboots it stills saying locked. Just to chek I use the fastboot oem lock command and returns (bootloader) Device was already locked!
I dont know whats the cause of this or how to solve it.
Anyone has any ideas?
Google is your friend
To unlock it, you have to visit htcdev
---------- Post added at 08:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:54 PM ----------
If you keep locking and unlocking and running commands via adb, you are gonna mess up your device. Go to HTC.com and search unlock bootloader or htcdev. Follow instructions there. Good luck.
Actually I did go to htcdev.com and follow their instructions, thats how I get the Unlock_code.bin file. Running random ad comamos was never an option.
I started to think that this might be a hardware issue but I have no idea how to proove it

---------- Post added at 11:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 PM ----------
I would suggest u look up aahk2 on xda. Follow those directions. That will help unlock, root s off and flash a custom recovery.

What is your hboot version? If you have hboot 2.00.27 or lower maybe you have not an unlock option. You have to upgrade your hboot to 2.00.29 and then you should be able to unlock it thought htc_dev.
Check how to upgrade your bootloader here.
When you are in your bootloader give the command fastboot getvar all and copy-paste here what it prints.(except your IMEI and serialno).

If your device isn't coming on display wise, it might be a hardware issue.

need adb? and thanks for your reply..
Yes. But to run fastboot, u need fastboot drivers. Download min adb and fadtboot program.
---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:41 PM ----------
Once u have that installed..turn off phone and hold vol down with power(make sure phone is plugged in PC) open cmd window via min adb and type fastboot devices. Should see a number...then type fastboot getvar all to get bootloader details.

I've noticed since I updated to MM GPE that I have to manually change the usb function from charging only to mtp transfer... Could this be the issue? Any fix?

Shouldn't affect fastboot.
---------- Post added at 03:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:17 PM ----------
Some folks have had to flash the Sense firmware before they can run the RUU.
But the normal symptom for that, is the RUU will run until it gets an error related to the fact that the system partition is too small.
What version Windows? Also, if you have USB 3.0 ports, those are known to be problematic with RUU.

Does the command "fastboot devices" return your phone's serial number?
If so, fastboot is working properly.

Fastboot and ADB commands work, Windows 10 recognizes my device, USB 3.0 but never had any issues... How do I flash firmware? I've always just ran the RUU for a clean install when going from GPE to Sense and back

Okay, so I finally got it flashed... Still have no idea what the issue was but now the OTA fails... SuperCid allows BS_US002 to update correct? Sorry, I don't play with this phone very much anymore

SuperCID shouldn't prevent OTA.
Which RUU (file name) did you end up installing correctly? Did you have to flash a firmware separately, or no (and if so, where did it come from?).
On the bootloader screen, what does it say for OS number?
So there was an update available to my phone and when it was done it rebooted and went to recovery and now I can't get in android. It's not rooted or with any custom roms, just a stock phone. Bought from Hong Kong if it makes any difference.
Same here, happend with the update to Android 6.0,
phone is out of waranty, don't know exactly what to do now. Try to install another (HTC-factory) rom
