Hello XDA Members,
I'm wondering if you could help me with something here...
While using the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool provided by shimp208, I make it as far as rebooting into the RUU screen.
However, when I try to flash the RUU (GPe 5.1, provided by graffixnyc), I've been given an error that restarts my computer and gives me a blue screen of death...
Is this an error with the computer, or with the tool?
Has anyone had issues like this?
Thanks,
soccerdude123

It's an older version of ADB. It won't work on Lollipop, I believe.
Just get the SDK from Google.

you open a command prompt, navigate to the tools folder in the android sdk and run whatever adb command you want as long as you have htc sync installed your computer already has all the nessesary drivers... The android sdk is ment for software development, hence sdk (software development kit) the quickstart is ment for people who intend to use it for development, we only need a small part of the sdk known as adb
i got this error, see attachment.

I have tried the 1 key tool to try to restore to any kind of ROM but the device doesn't show up.
please point me in the right direction. As I have tried many different searches but all pointing to the one click tool which will only work if I can get my tab to turn on.
All help is appreciated.

You did not brick your nexus 7. Flash the factory image with fastboot. Do not use toolkits.

There is no nexus 7 version, fastboot is fastboot. Motorola has a modified version (xda'ers call it mfastboot) that alters file size restrictions but even that one works with all devices. All that said, the link that khaytasus posted ^ has what you need.

Hey guys. I've had my Zenfone 2 for almost 2 month now. I'll include a screenshot of my current version, but basically I'm on 2.13 but there is already a 2.18 but it never finds any when I search for them. Am I not doing something?
Thanks

Have you rooted you Zenfone? You can always update it manually if not but downloading the OTA updates and putting them on the SD card.
Nope. Haven't done anything to it. And yes I know but I shouldn't have to manually do it. Know what I mean?

OTA's are released in batches gradually, you might be in the last batches of OTA triggers, i would advice to update manually.

The thing is, I'm not exactly sure which version I can use to update. Can someone guide me to the exact ota for me. Also can I jump straight to 2.18 or do I have to go to 2.15 then 2.17,etc?. Thanks a lot.
So i downloaded WW firmware "UL-Z00A-WW-2.14.40.19-user" from the asus support page and i went to flash it via recovery but it just gives an error. I tried renaming the file to "MOFD_UPDATE" but that also just gave me error. I then was able to get it pass the error screen to show the recovery menu but there is only update via adb AND i noticed it says CN at the very top. I'm confused. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Go to this link, you just have to download the update and not all the 1gb zip from asus support.
http://www.asus-zenfone.com/p/fota-center.html
For your version it's the 1st one 2.13.40.13 to 2.14.40.19 then next one and go on.
Hope that helps.
P.S. Put it in the internal storage of your phone, just drop it there not in folder. Reboot your phone and you will get a system update notification.
There is a Thread dedicated to this .... I would recommend reading it from top to bottom and analyse each step accordingly!! you would be able to figure it out!!

Thanks man. I've been trying this all day yesterday. I download it and put it on the storage, NOT in any folders.(I removed my Micro-SD) I even tried renaming it "UL-Z00A-WW-2.14.40.19-user.zip". Still no pop-ups. Even after restarting.

Yeah i did this. I flashed over the recovery, fastboot, and boot files(took it from "old" folder seeing i'm on 2.13.40). It flashed fine, it now says WW in recovery. However i am stillNOT able to get any pop ups for updates after putting the zip files on my internal storage.
No you must flash lastest img. Then go to recovery and apply update via adb I think.
The zip file for lastest rom is about 1gb.

Hey, guys. I need help rooting this phone. I tried the LG Root Script v1.2 and the CMD prompt by avicohh. Both of which looked as if they should have rooted this phone. They did install the SuperSU app but every time I load up the app, it'll say, "there is no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it". I upgraded from an HTC One M7 and never had any problems rooting that phone. What other methods can I use to root this phone? Additional info below:
Model # - LG-D851
Android Version - 5.0.1
Kernel Version - 3.4.0
Software Version - D85120g
Security Software Version - MDF v1.1 Release 2
Unknown Sources and USB Debugging Enabled
Figured it out thanks to digital-bug's app!!!! Sweet!
+1. Tried many other methods, I have the same phone and software version.
This is the link to the method that worked.
Neither of these worked:

I managed to do it with an ubuntu desktop with a little tweaking. As soon as I figure out how to install TWRP I'll post a more complete how-to.

Augh - I ran into this problem myself. It has something to do with Microsoft Visual C++. I ended up installing every version of the redistributable packages between 2005 and 2015. Once all of them were installed, the RUU executable worked perfectly.
Alternatively, I think there is a zip file you can use to apply the RUU via the sd card method. I'm sorry I can't point you in the right direction for that, but searching around the M9 forums might be helpful.

Well, if you can boot into download mode, your phone should be detectable on your computer. Alternatively, the sd card method doesn't require ADB.

Unfortunately, that was the method I used: install all of the requisite Microsoft Visual C++ packages boot my phone into download mode, and install the RUU executable. I used the Marshmallow RUU and then downloaded the OTA and installed that.
The sd card method is outlined in Flippy498's spreadsheet. However, I don't know where there is a zip RUU for the developer edition - that'll require some searching around on the forums or another XDA member's direction.

So before installing C++ packages, you were not able to boot your phone into download mode? Or did you have the same problem of RUU stuck at the terms and conditions part!? Okay, so theoretically you've got enough functionality to apply an RUU via the sd card method or via your computer.
The most reliable way is via your sd card, as outlined in Flippy498's spreadsheet.
Searching around, I've found the RUU zip files for the developer edition of the M9. - turns out that reading the sticky posts in the forums pays off!

I don't have any ideas there I think at this point I would apply the Nougat RUU directly via the SD card method or the executable. Either of those will be less messy than trying to figure out why the over-the-air update won't install.
