[Q] Nexus 7 k008 brick - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hi.
Unfortunately bricked my nexus 7 K008,
I am able to go to fast boot but then when I try to load recover the tab gets stuck on Google logo.. This brick happend during update to new firmware.
I have tried the 1 key tool to try to restore to any kind of ROM but the device doesn't show up.
please point me in the right direction. As I have tried many different searches but all pointing to the one click tool which will only work if I can get my tab to turn on.
All help is appreciated.

You did not brick your nexus 7. Flash the factory image with fastboot. Do not use toolkits.

There is no nexus 7 version, fastboot is fastboot. Motorola has a modified version (xda'ers call it mfastboot) that alters file size restrictions but even that one works with all devices. All that said, the link that khaytasus posted ^ has what you need.

[ROM] Official Factory Image ITL41F

This is not a Rom Manager backup or a 41D upgraded to 41F but an official 41F stock image build by Google obatined from
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
I have added a batch file to automatically fastboot flash this under windows and restore your phone to stock.
turn the device on with both volume buttons held and enter fastboot mode. connect usb and execute flash-windows.bat (included) you may need to install samsung adb driver and boot unlock the device though (which you can find on this forum)
tested on my galaxy nexus and restored successfully.

Thanks OP worked great!
Why would you upload mirrors when Google themselves are hosting the files? Wouldn't it be more reliable to just download straight from Google?
Also, I'm assuming that they'll be updating the recovery images for each official update as well... Meaning your mirrors would be outdated soon anyway. Just a thought.
Thanks anyway though, these will come in useful!
Google's package is compressed in tgz and comes with sh script, also doesnt include fastboot windows.
I put all necessary utils together with a bat script so user can just double click and restore.

I'd prefer the Google Images untouched to be honest.
Guys, a little OT question, but I don't want to open a new thread just for a noobish question:
How could one actually brick the GNex? Is it possible to brick the GNex so serious that it won't even get recognized by fastboot?
If not, it's literally unbrickable. If yes, what would I need to do to brick my phone like that? Just wann know so I can NOT do it
will OTA updates works if i flash this image (assuming i've also cloclwork mod recovery)?

Since it's 100% Google image, I don't see why OTAs wouldn't work.

You could do what my idiot brother did to my Nexus S. Format /boot from Clockwork mod (under the storage options I believe) and then turn the phone off. The only way to unbrick it is to send it to Samsung, or the guy on XDA who runs that company that uses JTAG to fix it (which is what I did)

Why would that brick the device? Can't you still get into the bootloader or recovery and flash a new boot image?

Thank you man, a million times. Now I was able to replace Samsung's screw up Stock.
@ zyo will this factory image also work for lte or is this strictly GSM image? I have an issue where neither cwm or adb will restore my stock nandroid and I want a full stock backup just to be safe

I wouldnt flash this on LTE model. I have heard it comes with different radio and stuff (obviously)

[Q] May have bricked my N7 (deb)

So, first, the moral of this story is don't do stuff like this at 2AM after a long day at work.
Tonight, I decided to root my N7 and mess around with a few different roms. Well, apparently I didn't read pages carefully enough because I am now the proud owner of a deb tablet with a flo bootloader on it. My fastboot screen reads:
PRODUCT NAME - deb
VARIANT - deb 32G
...
BOOTLOADER VERSION - FLO-04.02
BASEBAND VERSION - DEB-GOO_2.37.0_1024
I realized this when trying to install CM11, and got errors saying the package was for deb but device is flo.
I've tried to flash factory, but it still leaves me with the incorrect bootloader. FWIW, I'm doing this on a Mac, and won't have access to a PC for at least a few days. Any help would be really appreciated

Have you just tried flashing the bootloader independently? Instead of flashing the full factory package?
On Mac the command will be ./fastboot flash bootloader <name of bootloader>.img
Hope this helps?

Hmmm, weird! Are you totally sure you haven't downloaded the flo factory image by mistake? I know you will have checked already, but I can't really think of anything else?
Maybe try flashing an older bootloader version?

You flashed a recovery for flo. Flash one for deb.
Edit:

Reasonably sure I had a deb recovery, but apparently redownloading and reflashing the CWM image did the trick. Thanks!

It is a toolkit that makes these things very easy. I have used this many times and have never had any issues with it.

Well for beginners the toolkits make things very simple. This one has been around for a very long time and is very stable. I have never had any issues with this at all.
Just have to be sure you follow the simple instructions and make the right selections in the menus.. easy peasy..

I'm not doubting wug's toolkit. He obviously does a great job with it. I was new once too and I know once I discovered how easy it was to use commands it was like a new world. No more waiting on scripts and hoping tool kits would be updated, etc. Everyone has to learn and so I always offer fastboot options. There is also something to be said about working and earning your way to a mod versus a quick one click. My opinion, and you know what they say about opinions :good:

Yes, I agree in some ways but not everyone wants to mess around all the time. Some people just want to take care of it and forget about it.
Personally I work with php, html, mysql and I also have to use ssh commands every day. When doing something simple such as a rom change I just prefer to open the toolkit and not worry about commands.
I agree if you plan on getting deeply into it then it would be best to learn everything and not reply on the toolkits.
Just my opinion though and I was talking about someone who may be doing this for the first time. Commands and the instructions can be very confusing when doing any of this for the first time.

Relying on a toolkit can be disastrous because not all toolkits are alike and I have seen some brick devices. You don't have to want to get "deep" into Android to learn a little something. Some want a quick fix with no understanding of what they're doing do and others want to learn what's going on. There are many tablets that can only be restored with fastboot commands because no toolkit exists.

While not disastrous, I kind of know what you mean, I started with Wug's (and it is a great toolkit), but once I flashed my own kernel (I used francos app to autoflash so did not have to use recovery or fastboot), I did not realize that by using Wug's a week later that it would flash over that kernel to run those commands and NOT replace francos (I found I was back on stock), lucky by then I had learned enough to recover and no damage was done, but it does point out that my reliance had caused me more work and a bit of worry in the long run.
Still Wug's NRT is a great toolkit...but it should be used as a tool, not a replacement for knowing what to do without it.

ADB_FastBoot_Error?

Hello XDA Members,
I'm wondering if you could help me with something here...
While using the Minimal ADB and Fastboot tool provided by shimp208, I make it as far as rebooting into the RUU screen.
However, when I try to flash the RUU (GPe 5.1, provided by graffixnyc), I've been given an error that restarts my computer and gives me a blue screen of death...
Is this an error with the computer, or with the tool?
Has anyone had issues like this?
Thanks,

It's an older version of ADB. It won't work on Lollipop, I believe.
Just get the SDK from Google.

Need Sprint LG-LK430 QCN - LG Gpad F7.0

Good Morning Everyone!!!
First off I would like to say sorry if i am posting this under the wrong section but i was not able to find a section for the Gpad 7.0 (if it is can a mod please move) So back to my dilemma here well I hard brick my New LG GPad from sprint a few days ago and I cannot get this thing up and running mainly because of the lack of availability of files (No KDZ, No TOT) so im wondering is someone on the forums who owns a WORKING Sprint LG GPad F7.0 (LGLK430) would be able to send me a copy of a backup of the device from QPST in the QCN format so that i can try to restore my device that way. Or if someone has one of the lg firmware files preferably the TOT or the hex files for QPST (None of the ones i have found online seem to be compatible with this device) that would work aswell. I know alor of people are going to say " Why dont you just take it back to sprint?" and I dont want to do this because i enjoy working with my devices and leaning new things and correcting my mistakes, taking the tablet back will be like my last resort. So sorry for the long post but i just wanna say thanks in advance to anyone who can help out
Hi! I don't have your device but if I might make a suggestion. Google for lg_imei_checker_2014_b1, enter your device's IMEI and see if the IMEI checker will provide a download for a KDZ for your device. Good luck!
Hello, Thank you for the response unfortunately i have already tried this method and there does not seem to be one publicly available and i say that because this website gaodi.net seems to have the TOT and KDZ but i was not able to get an account setup or meet the requirement due to unknown errors

Don't wanna mislead people. I'm not an experienced guy. I dumpped the stock recovery following the instruction in the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-pad-10/general/dev-thread-lg-g-pad-7-0-8-0-10-1-t2838995). But, I'm not sure if I did it correctly and is this the file to save your pad from not booting or how to do it. The bottom line is that I don't wanna make it worse.
So, if you know what you're doing and you can tell from the file that it is exactly what you are looking for, PM me and I'll send you the link. Otherwise, I suggest you may get help from someone knows about compile stuff.

I'm not sure if you got my PM, but I do know exactly what I need. That is the stock recovery.img for the LG G Pad F 7.0 LK430 (which is the Sprint variant).
I made the mistake of attempting to install TWRP for a different version of the G Pad back when I originally bought the device. Now I have no recovery.img and cannot factory reset. If you have extracted the recovery.img from your stock LK430, that would indeed help me and I would greatly appreciate it.

I want to install Xposed but I have no way of backing up my device since Nandroid doesn't support it! I rather have to go back to factory than be stuck with a brick should anything go horribly wrong. Thanks.
