Hi, i connect my DHD to my car stereo via the micro USB port at the DHD's bottom.
I subsequently get a prompt that asked me whether i want to have the USB behave as a charge only, SD card, HTC sync, Internet tether... I choose SD card.
Here is where the problem is. Audio works fine, i am able to get it streamed to my car stereo over USB. But when i try to play video files , the phone reports that the SD card is locked (since the car steroe is accessing the sd card for audio files i believe).
Are there any work around this? I would like to watch video and have the sound from the video audible through my car stereo speakers, all through the micro usb port.
I used to be able to do this using the iphone dock port.
This will never work unless your car stereo has a stereo/mini-stereo Aux in.
Hi all ,
I've just bought the official Samsung car holder / dock.
i1.expansys.com/img/b/217880/samsung-car-holder-for-galaxy-s-ii.jpg
It's well made and a perfect fit for the phone (without case) but I'm having problems connecting to my car stereo.
After a bit off fiddling with settings (turning on USB debugging) I can connect my GalaxyS2 directly to my Pioneer DEH-2300UB headunit with the USB cable.
GalaxyS2 then detects that it's connected by USB. Pulling down the notification bar and clicking the USB icon turns it on. It is then detected by the headunit like it would any USB mass storage device and plays MP3 files.
But if I connect the car holder to the headunit with the USB cable, then clip my GalaxyS2 into the car holder, the phone goes into car dock mode.
I can get out of car dock mode by pulling down the notifications bar and turning it off but I can't get the the phone into USB mass storage mode.
Any idea how I can get my GalaxyS2 to detect the USB connection and not the car dock?
how about turning USB debuggin on then connect into the dock and then turning it off?
Thanks, but nope that didnt work.
Can you post a picture or link to your car dock?
I'm a newb so can't post direct pics or links so you'll have to cut and paste the link below.

Is there any setting you can adjust on your car stereo?
No settings on stereo. its an issue with the phone

Have you tried changing it from car dock to say sound station/dock?
You can turn the car dock off by pulling down the notification bar a clicking the car dock icon. Not sure if it will let the phone go into mass storge mode after that though.
Nope tried that as well
Hmm is it able to detect the phone or is it only the problem relating to playback?
The head unit detects that something has been connected and tries to scan it but because the GalaxyS2 is not in mass storage mode the headunit displays an error.
Maybe theres a 3rd party app that can change it or maybe we can trick the phone into detecting connection into something else first and then putting it into the car dock. thus it might not go into the car dock mode
Been looking around the market. There are a few apps but "NoDock" seems to be the closest to what I'm looking for.

There is a trial version. I'll re-root my phone and give it a try.
Cool. Let us know after you give it a try
BTW have you tried plugging in a female USB port and then connecting the male end to your head unit? Or maybe you could try an aux input after docking it.
I think what is happening is that the USB connection is just supplying power to the car holder.
There is an AUX-out on the car holder and an AUX-in on the headunit. I'll see if I can find an AUX cable and try it. Connected that way I think I'll be able to control the MP3s from the phone instead of the headunit.
Maybe this is a bit off-topic but can you tell me if you notice any interference noise through the dock's audio line out when the phone is not playing anything? This is an annoying issue in the I9000 with its official car dock.

What type of interference? I get the usual RF interference just the same as if you put the phone next to a speaker when in GPRS mode. You'd get that with all phones IMO.

lol. thats it then I guess. if there is already an aux out, it must be that Did they include a 3.5mm cable?

I didn't mean RF interference, that will depend on the proper shielding your audio system has (I think). The noise I'm talking about is different, sometimes it's random noise and some other times it is a buzzing that goes high and low depending on the acceleration/deceleration of the car engine... I know... weird. This does NOT happen if I connect the phone directly through its 3.5 jack and not the dock's.
Maybe they sorted it out in the I9100 car dock.

Hi.
I've seen it written a bit that audio suffers when playing through bluetooth, though I don't fully understand the technical reasons for this.
I read that the OEM car dock will use bluetooth to connect the phone to the dock, which will then send the audio to the radio via the plugged in audio cable.
So will that setup cause the audio to suffer? How would that compare to playing audio from my phone to the car's built-in bluetooth hands-free system?
If it the same, then I guess I wouldn't necessarily need to get the Samsung OEM car dock for it's pogo pin features (for audio, anyway), since I could simply use the car's hands-free system for audio. In that case, I guess I would just need a dock that can provide power. Does that analysis hold up? Are there any docks that provide power without having to plug-in the micro USB port?
So I just bought an iBolt car dock. This comes with a cable that you plug into the USB port of the phone and it splits into USB for charging and an audio cable for the car's AUX sound. I can't seem to get the sound to output to my car, it is still playing on the phone speakers when everything is plugged in.
The details:
ROM: LiquidSmooth
Kernel: KT747
I have Use Dock USB Audio enabled in Andvanced>Sound>Dock Audio
Any suggestions to get this to work correctly ?
Thanks.

Dock audio seems to be broken in all of the 4.2 Roms. It was working great for me on most of the 4.1 Roms but I have yet to find one that works on 4.2
Dear Members,
I'm searching for a car radio to connect with my HTC one.
Got VIPER rom 1.2.1 with Elementax 2.2.3
I wan't the follow functions:
- USB Audio (can you scroll true music on your radio or do you must use the phone?) Like USB mass storage?
- USB Charging
- Bluetooth Carkit
- Bluetooth audio streaming (less quality then usb audio?)
Thanks in advanced!
Hi,
I have a Sony MEX-BT4000U unit in my car, and a Sony MEX-BT3800U in my wifes car, and both work perfectly (with all features you describe). The 4000 has a separate external mic, so makes for much better quality hands free calling, but as I drive a big noisy 4x4, and my phone is mounted a long way away, it seemed like a sensible option.
