Just recieved my G4 from T-Mobile. Factory fresh device here. When using the Netflix app while on wifi im recieving problems. Basically sometimes doesnt log me on at all. Then when i do switch to cellular data, it then works. Also the videos take longer then usual to start if it does start at all. I have the Note 4 right beside me connected to the same wifi, works without a problem. I did factory reset again to eliminate singular instances. Doesnt seem to effect the outcome. Anyone else with similar problems??
No issues for me on my Verizon G4 on Wi-Fi.
No issues for my tmo variant.
Does this issue replicate on other Wi-Fi networks as well?
I haven't used Netflix long on the G4 but when I was checking it out it seemed 100% fine. Logged in superfast and playback as well. I did testing vs my Note 2 and the G4 blew it away how fast everything was loading etc.
I had to turn off Wi-fi calling. I couldn't sign into Netflix with it on. Netflix is working fine for me with it off.

Not likely, in my case at least. The router in question is an ASUS RT-N16 running a Tomato variant with QoS rules that have been working flawlessly for me for two years. In addition, I wasn't even using Wifi calling, it was simply enabled. My N5, N7, and Galaxy S2 have no problems signing in. The error I received had to do with the network time. As soon as I disabled Wifi calling, the error resolved.
Turning off wifi calling worked. Thanks for the advice.
So after getting the replacement G4 in store my Netflix not working either without Wifi calling off. The old phone was able to play back fine with it on. Can anything else be tried. Since Wifi calling is a feature I use at my house since we have bad signal area and only use Netflix on Wifi so they both need to be working. I tried everything from Netflix chat will try a modem/router reboot again.
I did another factory reset and only connected the 5G wireless signal (thought maybe that was the issue) it worked right away but once google service updated again thats it wont work without Wifi calling off so...
Anyone other Tmobile users can test this or Netflix and say if they need to have Wifi Calling off or not ?
I do believe it's something with the Google Service update since I tried it again same issue. I did find out you don't have to turn Wifi Calling off but change it to Cellular Network Preferred instead of Wifi Preferred. It does work if you change it back to Wifi sometimes but only if the video is preloaded but it's hit or miss if it works but if you play another video you will have to change it back to Cell or Off.
WiFi + "WiFi Calling" + NetFlix does not work
I had the same problem with my new "LG G4" phone. If connected to WiFi and the "Wi-Fi Calling" feature is enabled then I get these NetFlix app errors:
- Please make sure that your device has network connectivity and the Date and Time settings are acurate (-3)
or
- Sorry, we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit the Netflix website (12001).
I tested on multiple very high quality WiFi networks.
The workaround was to:
- Disable "Wi-Fi Calling" when using WiFi and NetFlix
or
- Don't use WiFi, instead use T-Mobile's cellular data network
Thanks but look @ Sfkn2 post at the top member is with Tmobile and said no problems. I replied around that time no issues but now I have the problems. Yes those are the errors.
Someone is to blame and they all just want to point fingers at each other. It's on Tmobile to fix this and that probably won't happen.
Right. Apparently I can't take a screen shot for you guys to see while the movie is playing. But you can see I'm connected to WiFi calling on tmo network..

Yes that's what strange that I had 1 of them working on it but both don't now unless I change to Cellular Network Preferred . Can you tell me if your on a 5GHz or 2.4GHz connection or if both work and then your Router model. The connection shouldn't matter much since I had it working on both and found the 5GHz was strong enough to use in most my house and was using that most of the times. Might try changing the channels or something.
I have the Asus RT-AC68U (not the Tmobile one) I bought this just after release.
Streaming to my phone using the Emby app from my Emby server works fine as well.
I know we have a work around to atleast Stream but need to get this sent to the right places for a fix.

Netgear N600 - model WNDR3400V3.
Makes no difference whether it's 2.4 or 5. Dynamic IP setting. QOS option is off.
I posted the issue over at http://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3bedec/lg_g4_netflix_not_working_with_wifi_calling/ and got a response from a Tmobile Employee which I believe is on the Engineering side. They are going to report the issue so it's a start to see if they can fix it.

Does anyone have Android Wifi Tether working when on LTE? I have been having the worst time trying to get this to work on the SGS3 (worked great on the EvoOG). Yesterday, I happened to be in an area that only had 3G coverage, and when I tried the wifi tether, it worked for the first time. A bit later, I was back in my normal coverage area and was back on LTE (4G) and the wifi tether stopped working again. It allows me to connect, and it sends traffic upstream, but it won't route it back down to my connected device (tried iPad 2 and laptop).
Regarding AWT settings, I have tried the usual settings (router fix checked, authentication enabled, SG Nexus CDMA/LTE, GSM, and other profiles that others have mentioned). No luck.

I'm with you on this one, my original Evo worked great but have had zero luck connecting with the S3 no matter what settings I choose.
I'm also having issues getting wifi tethering to work sometimes I have to force close to get it to work but on 3g and I have the latest beta

I'm almost positive that i used wifi tether on LTE about 2 weeks ago. I don't have LTE at work but i'll try again at home tonight and see if it still works. I'm using Samsung Galaxy Nexus (CDMA/LTE) on wifi tether 3.1-beta14... still using the LF9 modem though.
first screenshot = wifi tether
second screenshot = speedtest website.. speedtest.net wasnt working for me so i googled for another
third screenshot = my motorola photon tethered to my gs3
anyways.. it works for me with the settings i listed above.. i think i followed qbking's tutorial
Ive been using this WiFi Tethering
do the install put model on auto select start WiFi there will be a pop up saying something like there is a new/update for are sgs3.
I haven't had any problems on 4g or 3g unless I'm in a area where I must be on the line of 4g/3g

I did this, but the first wifi install is just the android wifi tether project with a wrapper. It said it wouldn't work on my device, as you stated, and then prompted me to install regular open garden. I don't want my phone to be an open, unsecured wifi hotspot. So I guess I'm fooked unless I can find out why the qbking setup seems to work for some people, but not me and at least one other person in this thread.

I will agree i did use the same settings and I did accomplish a speedtest on my friends laptop using 4G LTE as my connection. Very fast i might ad 30Mbps down and 10Mbps up... Way faster than my cable here at the house.....
Ok, so I was able to resolve this by grabbing the latest beta from the project. The version in the play store, 3.1 v 14, just wasn't working right. The 3.2 pre1 version from the project page worked great. Anyone else having problems should grab the apk from the google pronect page. Here's the link.

*edit* updating link to general download area of the google project page, rather than the specific version.

Has anyone tried the FoxFi app to see if it allows the phone to use the LTE signal?
I'm in LA, and LTE is not available yet.
i have spent entirely too much time on this tether app and this is because it was not working, but here is what i did which was a collection of things i read here but i had to mix the options up a bit
fist of all i just got this phone 3 days ago and i allowed it to do all updates like a fool
i rooted this 2 nights ago
i am running wifi tether 3.2-beta2
access control is off, sure i get msg once in a while but as soon as i turned this off it immediately loaded the page on my laptop
my profile is: Samsung galaxy nexus gsm, i know i know. im on sprint and its not gsm but this worked
setup method is: auto
it works quickly every time even after reboots of gs3, app and laptops
thought i'd share
What kind of speeds are you guys getting on your home wifi? For some reason I'm only getting about 7Mbps down, on a 12Mbps service. My PC confirms that I am getting 12Mbps when I run speed test from there, but my Note 4 won't do much more than 7 on the same connection.. Any ideas?

I don't see any problem. At 50 Mbps service i got over 60 Mbps
Definitely have issues since update
My WiFi seemed to work fine when I first got the phone. I took the OTA update and since then I'm getting about 25% of the speed I do on my PC. AT&T is ruining a great phone
I've also had some off wifi speeds since the update. Have 20mb/s at home from my ISP and will randomly drop to 5mb/s but the speed on my laptop will be fine. It's not consistently slow though so i'm not sure the issue.
Wifi slow since update
I'm also having a very similar problem. Everything works speedy over LTE, and it seems its fast on the wifi networks at my work, but my home wifi is incredibly slow. I notice it most with the Play Store, Google Now, and Maps. Images don't load, links/results load slow. Updating apps takes a bit longer.
I did a test and while on wifi, I used the stock Internet browser app and did some searches on google.com, which all returned immediately. Doing the same searches on the Google app took 3 times as long to get the same results.
I know this was an odd test, but I used OpenVPN Connect to VPN in to my home network while on LTE. The same problems occurred over VPN. At first I thought that it was my home wifi, but neither my Nexus 7 or Galaxy S3 have these problems. I'm hoping this gets fixed when the Lollipop update rolls out.
Yea, it's weird because my girlfriend and I have identical note 4s. She hasn't updated hers to the latest os version yet, and she is getting the same crappy speeds on her phone. When I test my speed on my PC I'm getting what I'm supposed to get. Idk, maybe it's this crappy dsl service we have. I'll have to run a test on someone's cable service and see how that goes.

True I prefer cable over DSL any day.
I've had this issue for a while,I use xfinity. I have the WiFi router built into the modem with telephone also.ever since they thought it was cool to make my WiFi a xfinity open hot spot for any customer that sits out side my house and wants to use my router they can,as long as the sign on with there xfinity account.I've had all kinds of wifi issues,my hardwired connections are fine.My WiFi speeds get so slow my phone goes to LTE until the connection gets better.I called and had them disable the hotspot from info I got searching google, they did.It seemed OK for a few days, then same issues. This has been going on for months I'm going to take the modem in a get a new one,but I've read people doing this and still issues. This has happened on my S3,S4,S5.On my note 4 same issues but I have a new one, even when my WiFi is strong and stable certain things won't load even tapatalk,if I toggle off WiFi on my phone and refresh on LTE no problem connects like it should.I disabled power saving that was recimended, but I don't see a change in anything.Even after it refreshes I don't see any stat changes in the dialer WiFi menu. What I does the WiFi power saving mode do anyway?

Yes, most definetly. Cable is far superior to dsl presently. We can't get cable where I live, and dsl is my only viable option. I read about a new technology that is being worked on, that when completed will enable data to travel up and down dsl infustructure several times faster than cable. I don't recall the exact numbers, but from the sounds of it, there's a good chance that dsl may become the preferred infustructure for ISPs in the future. Here's the link to the article that goes over it.. I thought it was really interesting.

Once I registered the phone with the network (Via: Settings>More>Cellular networks>Network operators) Wi-Fi calling got better.
It is kinda shifty because it will try to use the network even if the connection won't support a call.
Then again it could be the APN.
No trouble for me when testing it out.

I think you're onto something. My T-Mobile WiFi calling was working OK, but it would take up to 30 seconds to connect a call and other times WiFi calling would drop for no reason.
I did what you suggested, but WiFi calling was still goofy (didn't always work right). So, I did a reboot and now, WiFi calling is as fast as normal calling, I haven't seen any dropping of WiFi calling AND for the first time, I'm seeing the WiFi calling symbol on the call screen. Prior to that, it only said "WiFi calling" on my lock screen and the pull down under the signal icon.
Thanks for the tip!

I would have issues with after the call was connected fine and talking several minutes the other person couldn't hear me and then the call would just drop. I could hear them fine but they couldn't hear me at all. So I changed the
Wifi Call setting to Cellular Preferred. I'm going to try registering with network and rebooting and changing it back to Wifi Preferred and see if that improves the operation. Anyone seen that issue and did this resolve it?

I'm having issues with texting over WiFi. For some reason it has trouble sending mms and occasionally it fails to send even normal sms.
So I finally got WiFi calling in airplane mode to work. You have to turn on airplane mode then turn on WiFi and if you dont have WiFi calling working yet then try toggling WiFi calling in settings off then on. If that doesn't work reboot while in airplane mode. This should do the trick. Also I noticed that putting phone on WiFi calling will not automatically turn off cell signal. And if you decide to turn off airplane mode and back on again later then WiFi calling may not work again and all you should have to do then is toggle WiFi calling again.
I know some of this sounds like a pain but in places with very little service this can save your battery.
Thank you, hopefully future updates improve this.
Little wonky here also
Noticed it becomes disconnected just sitting on my desk 10 ft from the router. Wish it would turn off the cellular radio to preserve battery. Initially my tests using airplane mode were not working. Saw this thread and indeed it is working now.
Are there any APN settings or Tmo-Account settings needed to enable Wifi Calling? What about specific SIM versions? Let's make an actual list of requirements so that people can troubleshoot on their own.
I have the most current sim. Whatever the settings the phone has with the exception of iPv6 I changed that to IPv4/IPv6.

So I got my new note 7 and am loving it except for one significant problem. I cant get to google play on my wifi. Every other wifi in the world works. Just not my own at home. I can connect at my moms no problem, LTE works. Get a white screen as if the app is trying to load and sometimes a connection error try again later.
Things I have tried.
Other wifi networks "which works"
Tried my moms router on my modem, no go
All the stuff you get when you google like cache reset, manually adjust the time, factory restore....
One work around that works is to run a vpn, another is connecting my hootoo travel router to my wifi and connecting the phone through it. Then app store and photos works fine.
Google says its a problem specific to my phone and connection to the internet, so samsung or isp problem, samgsung said its a isp problem, rogers said its a isp problem. So not very helpful.
My setup is my note 7 connected to an archer c9 "tplink" which is new a month ago. my isp is xplornet "bleck" and im on thier 25 meg 300 gig lte package which actually get between 2 and 5 meg down, half a meg up. We have a note 5 and an iphone in the house as well and they both work fine.
Anyone have an idea? Samsung, xplornet, rogers and google haven't a clue.

nixonboy123 is right. Your DNS is giving you issues. Log into your router and manually specify DNS address. You can use Google's DNS at (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.7.7). Google how to configure DNS on your router if you aren't sure.
If you're unable to manually specify DNS on your router you can find DNS settings on your phone. You may have to select manually specify IP address on your wifi network to configure the DNS.

Contact your provider have them switch your isp and you can search for the best dns servers so you dont get slowed down by everyone in your city.

Can't seem to get images to show until I post some more. I'll try again on the PC when I get home.
Speed tests are as high as 18 mbps in the morning but average around 5 mostly. 100 ms ping or lower
Ping results look ok to me.

Hi guys
I'm using a wifi repeater Netgear EX8000. These days my wifi is very unstable even though it's full bar. The internet keeps dropping
I've tested it out with static IP on my phone setting and yet the wifi is still dropping fast.
Next to my test is my old phone Samsung S8+ where the wifi is stable without any drops. Both are connecting to the same 5G network. Both have the same Gateway, DNS. Only the static IPs are slightly different. This leads me to think Android 10 have bad wifi issues.
Anyone else having this problem?
If yes, how do you solve it? or do you downgrade back to android 9?
I was having wifi troubles, would be connected but nothing coming through. What helped me was in Wifi check the settings symbol in the network you are connected to and go to MAC address type and select "use device MAC" especially if you are trying static IP on your router.
Thx for the reply. I tried that but doesn't help for my case.
Have the same problem here. I don't have the 5g model and so far the only wifi drops I get are on 5ghz. I have not tested the 2.4ghz to see if it does the same thing.
So far usually restarting the wifi (toggle off and back on) fixes it. Dynamic/Static IP/metered/unmetered settings have no effect. I have no wifi control programs and wifi power saving settings are disabled. I do have mobile data on all the time.
As for downgrading it's what ever you want to do. IMHO this is one of those quirks that comes with a new OS update, and it isn't just Samsung devices that have been reported as having the same issue. I would presume that a subsequent update would probably contain a fix. Seeing as we just got an OS upgrade a factory data reset might be of more help then not.
I myself haven't done and FDR yet, but then again I am perfectly ok with toggling off and back on the wifi connection. I may end up doing a FDR at another point in time, or I might just make a tasker routine (restart wifi when no internet detected).
I have the same problem with Public wifi that require you to sign in...

If the movie is continuously fast forwarded in the local area network, the WIFI speed will be reduced to only 100KB / S.

Don't take this the wrong way, but your throughput speed issue is not the same as a WiFi disconnect issue.
Also SMB can be a fickle like that and effected by things if your just downloading to the phone or streaming a video, app support (CX File Explorer's SMB support), video file format/conversion via software... In your case I'm betting on non WiFi related issues since your attempting to stream pirated movies (saw that in your other thread) that probably are not converted for your phone and range in 11 to 14 gigs in size.

In the local area network, continuous transmission and playback, there is no problem with movie format. The software I use is CX File Explorer's and mxplayer.
The reason why this problem is because the previous S6 S7 NOTE8 does not have this problem

I had ran a tasker routine to check for internet connection, and upon none in restarts the wifi on the phone.
I also ended up doing a factory data reset and set the phone back up (not using a backup) to resolve the issue. Avoiding the use of a backup means that any corrupted settings that were in my phone (that would have been backed up) did not get back into my phone. This maybe about the only solution to try.. another would be to try and different router (use a friends internet or something, so long as it's not the same router as yours). If the connection is stable on a different router then it maybe time to consider an upgrade to the wireless router your using.
Ultimately I ended up getting a wifi6 router and have not had a single problem at all. I also migrated away from using a private dns setting and use a dns block list with a vpn app. I am not sure if an update released to the phone (or a combination of things) fixed it or not, but it's working without issue.
I found this to work. I have been struggling with this issue for a while and found that it is a conflict with the wifi ip settings. The router changes ip configuration changes everyday for your protection. Change ip in wifi -- sprocket--advanced -- change from dhcp to static then save. Issue resolved.

I use a vpn that seems to do the trick.
Hello Everyone it is 4th of February 2021. I have an ONE PLUS 6 i started having an issue with my 5ghz wifi after the upgrade to android 10 almost 2 years ago . Anyhows it would drop the wifi randomly or dissconnect me from it and when i turned it on the 5ghz network it would take over a minute untill it connects. I have finally found A BIG solution to this problem it's the Security in your Modem. On my modem it was on security WPA-WPA2PSL-AUTO. Now i changed it to ONLY WPA2-PSK Or depending on your device which one works better if u have the option of WPA PSK either one of these u can choose them but dont go for WPA-WPA2PSL-AUTO. It's a security-Bug issue that popped up on many android 10 devices after the update. So once i changed it to either one of those instead of WPA-WPA2PSL-AUTO ' my issue went away. I've been struggling with this problem since the android 10 update came to my ONE PLUS 6 . So there you have it FINALLY A FIX TO OUR PROBLEM
