I have the htc one m9 still factory settings no flashed roms. When I am on a call and get a text, I can open the text but the keyboard will not pop up to let me respond unless I hang up the call. Is this normal or do i have a glitch?
I had no problems with my htc one s texting while on a phone call.

What's the carrier? I know that some (Verizon, in particular) used to have difficulty doing data/MMS during a call.
I've got a developer edition of the M9 on AT&T's network and was able to make a call & send a text (SMS) during the call, so I don't think it's a phone issue.

To the best of my knowledge, GSM carriers like T-Mobile (and AT&T) have no problems calling & texting simultaneously. Sounds like a software issue. Can you reproduce the problem?

I got it to work now. Thanks for your help. I first tried disabling newer apps I downloaded but that didn't work. Restart didn't help also so I just had to reset the phone to factory. Now I can text during a call. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
I've had issues with Android glitching systemwide due to bad apps. Notably, I found that the orientation sensor gets bugged with some of the xposed modules. I didn't want to go through the apps one by one, so a factory reset was my solution too.

On my wife's GSM Galaxy Nexus, running JB 4.1.1, all incoming calls are getting forwarded directly to voicemail. I've tried quite a few things to remedy the issue, but to no avail. Here are some of the relevant details.
Phone worked fine for at least a week after the JB update.
She can place calls without any problem.
She can receive email and browse the web without issue, both on WiFi and on 3G/H.
I can forward her phone to our home number and the forwarding works perfectly.
We use Google Voice for our voicemail service. When I try to reset voicemail settings to our cellular carrier (AT&T), the phone does NOT seem to reset the voicemail numbers (they still appear as her Google Voice number). However, when I do remove Google Voice and then call the phone, I get a message that her voicemail is not set up. Which makes sense: we've never set up AT&T voicemail.
I've done a factory reset: calls still go straight to voicemail. And the voicemail number after a factory reset is STILL her Google Voice number.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Did you port the # to Google voice? I that would explain the settings sticking after reset.. It sounds like a GV issue and not a phone issue

No, we did not. I'd agree with you that it's a Google Voice issue...except everything was working fine up until one or two days ago. Calls both in and out worked without issue, as did voicemail.
Very strange. I'm going to contact AT&T to get their take on things.
AT&T seem to think its a bad SIM card. I'm going to pick up a new one tomorrow.
last time this happened my girlfriend somehow added me to the auto reject list lol

I'm not sure if you said calling to google voice number wouldn't work or calling the mobile number...
If it's the mobile, its not a gvoice issue..
I really would not think that a sim card would cause the problem itselt, but it might reset your forwarding options... I dont know.. you can try this if it doesn't work...
dial #002#
this will reset ALL of your call forwarding options just in case something is wrong / corrupt there... after you verify that calls to the number work, then you can setup the conditional call forwarding..

Great idea. I thought something similar, but when I try to enter any call forwarding codes (like the one above), I get "Call forwarding connection problem or invalid MMI code." Again, this leads me to think that perhaps the sim card really is the problem. If not, it's an AT&T network setup issue.
I'll post again later today with whatever progress I've made. Thanks for trying to help!
Picked up a new sim card, and it completely resolved the problem. Strange, but whatever. As long as the wife's phone is working, all is well!
Hey guys.
I have an E250K note II phone (purchased from Korea). I had all sorts of problems with it
- korean apps that i couldnt remove (even after rooting)
- voicemail option (number 1 button), does not work
- OLLEH logo on bootup
- when i get a call, and reject it, it hangs up on the caller, not forward to the VM (my mobile provided reset my account 5 times, no help)
all sort of things
now i installed the Milan 3.0 ROM, and it was magic, EVERYTHING got fixed, with the exception of, receiving a call, and rejecting it
I think it is a feature in the ROM that i cannot find out a solution for
I think the Milan ROM is a chinese one, but it is way better than the stock korean one
So now, what i am looking for, is if someone calls me and i cant pickup, and i swipe the reject button, i want the caller to be able to go to voicemail, instead of hanging up on them
when i even look at the call log, it shows, "cancelled" as the call status
I am not looking for google voicemail or something like that..
i just want the basic functionality of the phone to work i guess.
so i am pretty sure there is something, a hack, or something that would allow the forward calls when busy to VM
when not available or unreachable, it takes the caller normally to VM, it is the call forward when busy is what i am having trouble with
Any help with that, i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
wow 86 views.. and no one knows....
I seriously need help from anyone please.
Thanks
I'm interested in this too. I wasn't aware that rejected calls didn't go to voice mail until recently and that's not what I wanted to happen.
Edit:
Hmm. Maybe this depends on where the call originates from. I just tried calling my phone from Skype and call reject sent it to voicemail, but when I get a forwarded call from work it just hangs up.
Can anyone else confirm?
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 using Tapatalk 2
anyone cares to chime in and tells us something on how to fix this?
is this caused by ROM maybe?
I tried a US rom made for the 7105 models, (i didnt install the modem), and the voicemail option VANISHED, got back to the original rom i had, VM is back, but back to square one, which is hanging up on rejected calls, normal calls that is.
Anyone having an issue with call forwarding not being able to be set up? I use youmail for voicemail and today I went to set it up on my 5X, It couldn't forward the calls. When I went into the call settings to try to manually enter the code I get an error. It will not allow me to forward. Anyone else have this issue?
The exact message I get is:
"Call settings error
Unexpected response from network"
Opps meant to post this in Q&A. I reported to the mods to move
Bump on this.
Using a Nexus 5X trying to setup call forwarding, and I get the same error when configuring it from the phone application, and "Call Forwarding, Connection problem or invalid MMI code" when using the MMI code. Same thing happens when I try to configure it using a Nexus 6 running Marshmallow.
Tested fine on an AT&T branded HTC A9 running marshmallow though, so it seems to only affect the Vanilla flavor of the OS.
I had to call AT&T and have them manually do it but it's still not working correctly. If I dont answer the call it goes to my AT&T voicemail but if I reject the call it goes to youmail even though in call settings it's all set to youmail. I'm going to call AT&T tomorrow and try to figure it out.

I had the same issue. I had to call them and they made changes to the hd and standard voice call forwarding sections and that fixed it.

So after a call to them and mentioning this and telling them with no answer it was still going to my AT&T VM she checked and sure enough it wasn't provisioned correctly. Now everything works as it should
After reading this I called AT&T and passed on the information. She told me that I was provisioned correctly and entered my IMEI in their system. Still can't get HD Voice or Call Forwarding working. Any other tips that may help??

I had the same issue, even got my nano-sim swapped again. Turned out it was the HD Voice feature. N5X supports HDV, AT&T provisioned it correctly but this feature causes communication failure to AT&T network when try to change/update call forwarding. The ATT tech guy disabled HD Voice on my account, I can now change/update the forwarding numbers again. The fix might be temporary though, ATT regularly does network sweep and it might just automatically turn on HDV feature again when it detects your phone supports it. A permanent solution would be for Google to add an option to manually disable HDV on the phone in the next update.
Sorry for the 2-year old thread bump, but I have a relevant update...
It now appears that the stock dialer can properly provision the call forwarding settings on AT&T. Settings --> calls ---> call forwarding ---> update busy/unanswered/unreachable. I reached out to AT&T support after changing and they confirmed it was properly set on their end. Though, FWIW, I previously had AT&T set the forwarding settings, but had to pull the SIM to test an iPhone. It seems to have reset the forwarding settings, which is why I had to mess with this again in the first place...
So I am running bliss rom Marshmellow I looked at blocklist setting and its empty so I assume its not my end. they are both with wind mobile but every time they phone me it goes straight to voicemail I am with virgin mobile.
So after a week of this happening I phoned virgin they claim its winds problem so they were going to run some tests wind says nothing wrong on there end Ps I do not use any sorta blacklisting app.
The funny thing is I can phone them no problem. and I can recieve calls from anyone except my parents who like I said use wind. It makes no sense to me.
They have tried leaving voicemails to but I don't get them with virgin mobile. Yet I do get every voicemail from everyone else who phones me.
So virgin phoned me back and now claims its an issue with wind...

Go to the Contacts app, to the relevant contacts. Press the 3 dots button on the top, and make sure that "All calls to voicemail" isn't checked by mistake. This is a different settings from the Blacklist.

Hello thanks for the response I have looked at that already and it is not checkmarked for both contacts so I am not sure what's going on... Wind claims its not there end and so does virgin.
I'm sorry, I don't have any other ideas. Maybe you installed some kind of antivirus app, and it has a blacklist feature?
My caller ID is not working for any calls not on my contact list. This was not the case on the Pixel 3XL I came from. I have added a secondary caller ID app called Hiya which shows me there IS caller information coming across, but the Google dialer is only showing a phone number.
Anyone else with this? Is it normal on OP? Is there a fix?

I have not experienced this issue. In the Google dialer app you can turn this feature on if I recall correctly.

You can.
Guess I should have mentioned I have the settings turned on.
I've reset connections, reset network settings, even wiped the phone a few times installing with zero backups. Hasn't changed anything.
While I'm moderately happy with the phone, this is still an issue.
Anyone have suggestions?
You need to call Verizon and tell them your issue.. they need to fix it on their end
I have a pretty hard time believing this is on the Verizon end when different apps will get the information.
The caller information is making it TO the phone, as evident in different apps, but the Google dialer is not broadcasting the info.
After spending countless hours with Verizon just to get this phone working on their network, I probably shouldn't doubt you. It's just a rabbit hole I don't think I can go down...trying to get to a customer support reps who actually knows how to fix things and not read candid answers off a checklist in front of them is pretty rough.

I had to do the same thing with Verizon first I couldn't receive messages and I had to get them to make the phone cdma-less on their end .. then after I got the messages to work my caller id didn't work ...I was lucky and got someone who actually knew what they were talking about and the caller id issue was fixed after the call

Thanks for the clarification...pretty much the same steps I've gone through minus the last.
Guess I'll sucker up and try to call them.

Definitely an issue on VZW side. I've seen reports about this around. I'm on T-Mobile, so it's pretty much enabled by default across all the phones my family has... Including an iPhone.
