[Q] LG G2 Possibly Bricked After Failed Tot to ZVE, Need Help - Sprint LG G2

So I was toting back to ZVE on my LS980 to try and get to stock lollipop, but lo and behold I got a 'Failed' error at around 22%, it said it lost connection to the phone. Doing the same steps again it still fails, even earlier this time. Any help?

Try a different cable, there may be a connection that is shorting somewhere, or anything could be a culprit.

Or a different USB port. If its a desktop, use a rear USB port rather than the front ports, which are less reliable.

Thanks for the replies guys, not sure what the problem was, but I instead toted ZVA and took the OTA updates up to ZVG, worked just fine.

[Q] Phone bricked - usb port not functioning

BACKSTORY - Prior to the JB update, I'm not sure if it happened with ZV9 or ZV8, but I was getting the "slow charging" message when plugged into a PC (didn't matter what cable I used) AND I could no longer do any data syncs.
I'm not sure if it dirty connectors, a bad charging port, rooting, or an earlier update that caused this. As I said, it hasn't mattered what cord I used. (LGOG, LG Marquee, HTC Evo Shift, Nexus 7, generic cords from Fry's, etc)
Now I've soft bricked my phone after a stupid brain-fart, and I can't get Windows to recognize the phone is connected, thus LGNPST won't work. I've tried on 4 PCs.
Anyone run across this or have any thoughts other than sending it in for repairs? I don't have TEP.

I can get into stock recovery. When I try to get into fast boot, I just get a blinking LED.
The only options for updates are from cache (empty) or from ADB (can't connect).

have you tried factory resetting? it will wipe your data if you are ok with that and if that fails i would say your last option is a battery pull

No. I didn't think it would work as I changed/added files in /system which is was caused this mess. So the reset wouldn't remove them, would it?
Same with a battery pull. When it powered back on, I would be back where I am now.

Nope. Still had the security error on boot. I took it into a sprint repair center today, and they couldn't get it to connect either. They checked the charging port. The pins were intact and it was still soldered tightly to the board, so it should have connected. Even thought I don't have TEP, the phone was under a year old, so they are replacing with another unit for $50.

[Q] Cannot Restore G3 To Stock Using Flash Tool

I tried to use a volume fix by changing the values in some system files on my rooted G3, rebooted and got stuck at the LG Bootlogo. Been trying lots of things, finally used this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647 but the flash tool fails at 14 seconds saying failure to enter download mode. I have a D851C on T-Mobile, it is in download mode when I run the program and no change occurs on the screen save for the text log at the bottom. Upon booting into DL mode, it says USER B94. After unplugging and plugging it back in to start the unroot it changes to USER S0.0 AS0.0 B94 UHS then on the next line S U LG-D851 04.4.2 Hrev_10 and the next D85110c. It takes a good 50 seconds for the flash tool to change from saying awaiting connection, and then at 14 seconds it looks like the photo. The names of the dll and tot I am using are, respectively:
LGD851_20140611_LGFLASHv160
LGD851AT-01-V10c-310-260-JUN-20-2014+0
Yes I have set the port to 41 in device manager.
What the heck is wrong?
Someone please help I was supposed to fly out of state today but now I don't think I can without a phone and I can't afford a new one, I'm a student
Did you put your phone in download mode? It's not broken you just need to successfully flash it. It says download mode failed so here's a simple way to enable it if you ate having trouble. Pull out the battery then hold volume down and put it back it and plug in the cable. This should be done in a relatively fast manner to enable it if you are having issues getting into download mode.
Edit I know you said you put it in DL mode but I had a similar issue with my F400S so its worth a try.

edit: my dl mode is working perfect. I see in your Flashtool, your error is slightly different. mine gets stuck at 93%. Then it reboots back to this

PC Suite won't recognize it if you don't use the correct version. The latest from LG's site is in fact the wrong version. You need the version that's about 223mb in size. Sorry, I'm not sure of the version and am currently busy fixing my phone with it, so can't check. Perhaps someone would kindly supply you with a download link.

Did you try a different USB port on your computer? Drivers get honked up easily using flashing tools and sometimes using a different port, or even a different USB cable can fix your problem. More likely another usb port, but I've also had a bad cable as well.

That's the problem is the only cable that works is the one that came with it, and I've used 3 of my 4 on my laptop, so I doubt it's the port

Also you have to realize the phone doesn't turn on. I get the LG logo, download mode, or factory reset. That's it
If that is the only cable that works - my guess is there's something probably wrong with the micro usb jack on your phone.. it shouldn't be that finicky where only 1 of 4 cables would work. If you do a warranty return, you might get lucky anyways. Several folks have posted on XDA that the stores where they returned phones were either clueless or didn't care about the status of the root code. Of course, YMMV.

You misunderstand: The cable that comes with the G3 is the only one GUARANTEED to work with these operations. Has nothing to do with the jack. Getting a new one in the mail tomorrow, can't tell if it's rooted if they can't access the filesystem

Soft Bricked? Hard Bricked? Lg flash tool wont work... cannot get into download mode?

Hi i have a D85010f that is running 4.4.2 on TWRP 2.8.0.0.. i was in the middle of downloading a rom with no OTA and AN OTA popped up saying that it will begin in 30 seconds. I quickly shut the phone down and now it will only boot to twrp. i cannot factory reset or flash another rom. I cannot get the phone into download mode. My windows 7 device manager will not show me anything related to port settings to change to COM41. i can usually fix my own problems but this is ridiculous. This phone is 4 days old. Am i missing something? apparently some BOIS do not unlock the ports in windows 7 or something? This is such a headache/
CAN ANYBODY HELP ME BEFORE I THROW THIS PHONE IN THE GARBAGE?
so i got it to say factory reset status 2. the drivers keep installing and then failing and working for a second then failing again. W T F. how many/ what drivers do i need to get this **** running. i switched the COM to 41. but the MTP device driver keeps failing. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO THIS. ive ruined my whole afternoon on this ****ing phone its really annoying how finicky this whole android BS is. Truly.

I followed this video step by step. lgg3rootdotcom; the video thats says "how to unroot/unbrick lg g3" you have to dl the lg flash tool and have the lg g3 MTP drivers, then DL the stock rom for your device (d850 51 ect). set up the COM41 serial connection through windows. YOU CANT GET THE PHONE INTO DOWNLOAD MODE UNTIL YOU HAVE THE COM41 CONNECTION ANNND THE MTP DRIVER!!!!
as for battery not charging... that never happened to me. maybe plug it into the wall not the usb of the computer.

[Q] Help to unbrick my LG G3

Hello friendly devs,
So I messed up big time. I updated to 23C via the OTA and then discovered I couldn't do everything that I wanted, so I searched around a bunch for a way to put TWRP on it (never had it on this phone before) and of course no good way. I tried flashing it, and I got the fun certificate verify error trying to get into recovery. I could still boot normally at this point. I should have stopped.
Anyhow, I found a post about flashing the 12b aboot and that would let me throw TWRP on there w/o downgrading and losing all of my data. So, I tried it. Needless to say, this did not work. Now, I cannot do anything really.
If I try to boot normally, I see the certificate verify error with the initial LG splash, then screen goes blank. One red LED and then persistent blue LED until I pull the battery.
If I try to boot into download mode, I get the same thing (except the download mode symbol - which stays until I release volume button) and then screen blanks, LEDS, etc.
Sounds like from doing some looking that I'm basically up a creek w/o a paddle. I can maybe try to get into qualcomm mode (but I haven't found out how to do this), and try to follow these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/fix-unbrick-lg-g3-stuck-qualcomm-hs-usb-t2933853.
At this point, I'm thinking that's my only option. Does anyone have another idea, or at least advise on how to get my phone to recognize as 'Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 mode'
Thanks for your help...

Thanks @jac10000, I appreciate your help! Unfortunately, that set of instructions didn't work for me. I get an error that says ''Model information check failed' when i try the security error section. I think it could be that my phone won't even show as an LG device. The best I can do is QDLOADER (and even that with special drivers, it plugged in as QSUSB_BULK), even though I had proper LG drivers installed (from previously using ADB...that's how I borked it originally). Do you know of any other things I can try? I've done many at this point and am starting to feel hopeless. Thank you again for trying to help me!
You need a different set of drivers I think. I had a big problem with the qhusb_bulk mode but after installing the drivers I linked on my post in this thread it read as Qualcomm 9008: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3072091.
Try it out and report back to us. You should be able to then run the boarddiag tool as per the instructions on the attached pictures of the op in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/unbrick-lg-g3-qhsusbbulk-qualcomm-9008-t3072091.
Follow all the instructions very carefully and you should be able to bring it out of a bricked state!!!

I was able to get it into Qualcomm 9008 state, so that's a positive. I tried some similar, but I guess slightly different instructions using board diag and wound up with 'Failed loading flash programmer' errors. I'll try these other directions tonight. maybe if they're more specific I'll have more luck.
thanks again!

I have somehow apparently screwed myself over worse. Before about half the time my computer was recognizing my phone when i plugged it in, and with the drivers, as the qualcomm 9008. But now, I can't even get that! I plug it in in download mode, or normal, or not on at all and the computer doesn't recognize it. I've tried uninstalling the drivers, reinstalling them, rebooting, not rebooting. I opened it up to try and short the test pin, as the instructions stated, but there was a metal covering over the qualcomm chip which I couldn't remove. I am starting to think I'm screwed. I have seen lots of people having success with d550 and d551, etc, but I'm worried the verizon model is different.
thanks again for helping me. If you have any other ideas, I'll try pretty much anything at this point!

I had my VS985 hard bricked when I used "DD" command to mess around to try to put TWRP on it. I tried every possible method out there and I found that they don't work on VS985. KDZ and TOT flash all failed, no ADB. I tried it for 2 weeks and I gave up and sent the phone back to LG for warranty service. Guess what? Even LG couldn't fix it. They had to replace the motherboard! I would advise you the same path. Since your phone is so screwed, LG probably won't be able to tell what you did to it. Just play dumb and say one day you wake up to a dead phone. It worked for me.
By the way, who told you to put a KK aboot to a L rom? That seems to be a sure way to hard brick your phone. OTA does not work with a modified phone (no root, no TWRP). When you get your phone back from LG, TOT it to 10b, Stomp root it, and install TWRP manager to install TWRP. Then you can find the Jasmine flashable zip to upgrade to L. Avoid all OTA stuff.

When booting up, my phone did not show the LG and Verizon start up screen. Even the LED wouldn't light up. It vibrated once, so you know it was powered on. The screen was completely dark. When connecting to computer, the normal LGE device showed in Device manager and I could change the COM port to 41 for TOT flash. However, the flash would fail just like yours. The phone model, IMEI were all blank. KDZ errored out too. KDZ is more forgiving in mismatched phone model, and if even it fails, then you probably cannot save it.

Interesting. I appreciate the advice. I'll probably give it a try, since I seem to be out of other options, but I suspect the secure booting error will be a give away that i did something to violate my warranty.

Bricked LG-D852 ''Communication failed with device'' LG Flash Tool

Long story short, I tried flashing an older version of the firmware because I was having constant wifi issues even with a factory reset.
Everything went well, the phone rebooted with the android character on its back with the trunk open and the progress bar loaded until it froze. Now every times I try to boot it there's the droid on its back with the frozen loading bar.
Then when trying again to flash the stock rom using the COM41 LG flash tool, it keeps saying ''communication failed with device''
Here's everything I tried:
-De-installing and re-installing the LG drivers
-Tried the LG Flash tool method with 4 different computers and I still have the communication failed with device error
-The qualcom 9008 method where you need to short the ground with another pin
-Tried using LG's own tool from their websites to try updating or use the update recovery and it still gave the communication error
I can still boot it into download mode so there is still hope right?
Which is very annoying is that I still have 175$ to pay on it and LG's ''one price repair'' costs 150$...
Thanks in advance for your advices

Looks like I'm pretty much in the same situation . I used to have a galaxy S4, every time I thought it was dead I would find a way to bring it back to life. Even my other G3 "D851 model from T-Mobile" which I did about the same manipulations in the same goal and didn't have any issues with it.

Yes! That's the worst thing! I can set it to COM PORT 41. Then when I start the Flashing with LG Flash Tool, the phone displays COM 41 in green and the complete name of the .tot file even appears of the screen of the phone!

If you used LGUP that definitely the reason your phone is in the state it's in. If i buy a cheap g3 off of somewhere and downgrade it I'll never use LGUP. lg flash tool is your best option though I'm getting a g6, cause the g3 is old now i think you should upgrade if an upgrade is your thing the i got some good phones on my list. But if you're gonna stick with the g3 then they sell 'em for pretty cheap and if you're gonna downgrade to 4.4.2 kk then use lg flash tool. If you're gonna downgrade to 5.0 or upgrade (not really) to 6.0 then use the modified lg flash tool 2014. All i gotta say is you're phone is done i learned it the hard way

Yeah :/ it'll teach me to stop wanting to crack every phone that falls in my hands. Just to bad I still owe money on it though. I doubt selling it on auction for parts on eBay would even be worth it.
I got the same problem with my LG G3 D852. I have tried multiple USB cables and USB ports. I can get into download mode easily, factory reset just returns to the same problem with a Droid open hatch and spinning wired shape and a bar on the bottom. I have tried LG flash tool and LGUP, but both fail at 6% with a communication error. I think the problem is my USB cable, but that is just my guess. I have followed the guides on the forms on this site, that is the only conclusion I can come up with.
