I know this may be a stupid question, but is it possible to get the pre-installed voice software to answers calls by voice command?
Are there any software programs that will do it?
I'm guessing you'd need the software running all the time.
It's for in-car call answering.
Thanks
James
The pioneer DEH-P9100BT boasts voice recognition AND bluetooth?
Hi to all!
First of all, excuse my poor english. I've installed the voice search and a new keyboard. That works ok, but when I hold the search button, that's enable a Google research, and not call my contact. For exemple, if I hold the serach button and I say "Call John", the Desire shows me Google results of this phrase, not call john. Whats the problem?
Well which version are you on 2.1 or 2.2, because i think that feature of call john is only available in 2.2
And i guess it also depends on in which application you are in if call john makes a google search or a phone call.

http://www.appbrain.com/app/al.android.svd2
But, is possible to "taste" this app without paying? If do not work well, is money lost...
Yes you can make a phone call using voice search. You need to do in the dialer application. Press and hold the search function. When the voice prompt appears , then all you have to say is "call john mobile " and it will dial john on his mobile. It's working on my stock ROM Desire

using XDA App
Wrong, you can voice dial on 2.1 (Sense/Senseless) ROMs if you install voice search.
I use an application called TopVoiceControl that does the dialing for me. With it you can start applications, enable/disable wifi, bluetooth and gps.
I'm with stock 2.1 ROM and installed VoiceSearch apk.

It seems a good app, but the Desire don't have a green button. Then, for start the app, You need to make more than one click (I think those...)

Anyone knows where can I download it?
Any1 having problems with voice commands?
I have phone set to Italian, and voice dictation is working great, but voice commands go completely nuts... For example, I try with both "call marco" and "chiama marco" but all I get is a list of options which are completely wrong.
thanks
Voice commands are English only AFAIK. They don't work for most(all?) other languages.
It should recognize the right words though, but it won't initiate a phone call.

It will initiate phone calls lol. Just say "Call <contact name>" and it'll start dialing.

"as far as I know"
I was wondering if it is possible to call to a contact in your phone using voice command. I checked S voice and see that there options to answer/reject calls. But did not find a way to call to a specific contact.
Google voice search would be a help, but again it seems to be down when I dont have a data/wifi connection. Is there an inbuilt facility to do this over voice command ? or if I need to fish in apps store which one do you recommend ?
Thanks in advance ..
AFAIK there is option to dial number with S voice too
Anyway i am using this app, and best part it records your own voice so never fails to recognise. and no need to have data connection.
Just use Google Now... It's built in...

Google now doesn't work with out a data connection.
When I first had an Android phone I would have to go through a session talking to my phone, so it would get used to the nuances of my voice when I talked to it. This would allow me to use voice commands through a BT speaker in my car. Moving from Android to iPhone and Siri this was more seamless. Siri just picked up on my voice with no such session. Now that I am back to Android with the G Pro I see that the Voice Commands app still sucks when it goes to understanding the nuances of my voice, yet I do not see a way have that same talking session with the device.
So the question is what do ppl do when it comes to talking to your G Pro. Is Google Voice Search better, but how do I make it the default app instead of the terrible Voice Commands app?
Thanks,
Steve

The problem seems to be that when you use a BT car speaker the button you push to talk to the device is tied to Voice Commands, so I cannot seem to get around this, unless someone can tell me how I can change this so it will bring up Google Voice Search instead.
