Is it only me or my gt-i9192 overheats to upto 70C while charging and 50C in normal usage?
I cant make sure its the battery or the system itself, but my guesses are, its the battery
however underclocking lowers the temperature a bit.So it could be the system itself too.
PS. Its only on 5.1.x . I tried 5.0, works quite fine but low battery life, tried A5 Four Rom, is kitkat and works just great, no probs at all
Help?

Hi. First you should be more specific like which rom u are using. And did you install the rom properly, i mean full wipes and formats etc.
while charging, devices do heat up a bit, but 70C is high guess. And by normal usage if you mean gaming and surfing on 3g then 50C is ok i guess. May be try some other rom..........just my opinion.

Roms tried : Each and every single one of them [4.4+] including the latest 3 builds of them all !!!
Yep you read it right, top 3 builds of each and every 5.1.x rom for i9192.
And 50C on normal usage like surfing on WiFi and calling.
70C on Wifi + Charging. Even a few minutes of calling heats it so bad that at times I need to use earphones. Gaming? Cant even think of that in this case.

Well, in that case i there must be some hardware problems(like battery etc.). But before jumping to that conclusion it would be better if you rule out any software(like any rouge apps, old n incompatible app versions, background services, uncleaned flashing, un-optimized Rom etc.) problems.
Note: I have used PACMAN ROM 4.4.4 for 4 months....zero problems. Right now using SOKP since last 3 days, so far no bugs. Well there are some, but they are inherited from CM12/12.1 base. AND I DO NOT USE GAPPS. Also, give any new rom 3-4 days to settle down.

Thanks for the help
As far as I think, it could be a faulty battery. Will look towards replacing later.
Until then, I had to settle on TouchWiz.
Gotta say,its cool too, but just too slow.
I had the same issues. It can be ROM/kernel/gapps related.
I use f4k's CM12.1 03062015 build and 2.3 kernel with stock gapps package and my device is cool again, though it heats up a bit at charge but I use 2Amp charger and fastcharge.

What is the best ROM for battery usuage?
Every sense with leedroid kernel...
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
i use revolution hd 3.1 and its great for performance and battery
I will second that Revolution HD 3.1 makes such a difference to battery life, its much smoother than stock too. Tried CM7 and CoreDroid but they were both a little too battery hungry to be useful.
ROM, Kernel and Radio
I have used LeeDroid HD, Spike CM7 and Android Revolution HD. All with different kernels and radios.
I would think the battery drain has to do with both ROM, Kernel and Radio versions (and maybe more). So it's vital that all the components is compatible. Most ROM devs recommend both a radio and a kernel.
And of cause it depends on all the services and app installed after the flash
Anyway, to you question:
I use the new Spike CM7 build 19 and have great battery life now.
I had problems with no sleep mode on other ROM/Kernel before. (and yes I have tried various patches)
I'm using CM7 latest nightly with mad murdocks battery fix and the the most latest radio and I'm getting 3-5 mA battery drain while in standby (with constant 3g, mobile data and sync on). So I'd say all the roms are quite close to each other when it comes to battery drain nowadays and the battery drain isn't a main concern anymore while choosing between roms.
My friend and myself bought the phones on same day. He runs Revolution and I run LeeDroid. Looks like there is a small advantage with LeeDroid.
i'm using Spike CM7 build 19 flashed with mad-murdock's batfix build7 and my battery life is great
I recommend Android Revolution HD 3.2 for you!
I had 2-3 days of battery with ARHD3.1 all the time!

Yes and No
I don't know what would be much...
But with texting all day, some calls I get this, but yeah, I immediatelly turn off the display after using my phone and have deactivated all unnessesary stuff
I also removed most of the sense stuff and don't use twitter or something
the only syncing things are mail (every hour) and google (once a day)
but yeah, 1-2 days are easy with this, but mostely 2+

I'm not saying that it isn't possible as you can get a week out of the device if you just let it run on standby but as soon as you switch the screen on the consumption jumps to at least around 200mA and add a little gaming, browsing etc the consumption doubles from that (not an exact figure). So what I am saying is that it's kind of false to imply that another rom has way better battery consumption if you really don't use it that much. As it has been implied in many other threads that you just can't get over a day out of the device if you actively use it. It's just maths and there is no way around it as 1230mAhs will only get you that far
It is possible to get a few days by using it as a "regular" phone, it is all really usage dependent, and therefore the times are pretty hard to compare.
I am seeing a battery improvement using Coredroid V4 over Coredroid V3.2.
Today I have given the phone light use, about 4 short phone calls, email browsing, some facebook browsing but no gaming and I am at 73% after 12 hrs from full charge.
Combination of Buzz 1.3.8.2. 1.61GHz kernel, ARHD 3.2 with sense and the recommended radio is working great for me battery- and performance-wize. Using On demand gov at 1.22 GHz with 230-460MHz screen off profile.

I did'nt say that it all depends on the ROM I use, but with my normal mobile phone lifestyle and this ROM I get those battery lifetime. It was ment as an example, because on the other hand, if I use my DHD more frequent with playing games and stuff, I don't get around the 24h with a single battery charge, but that's (like you say) ROM independet because of the big display consumption and the 1230mA battery.
I just wanted to state the ROM I use with my normal battery experience for the thread author to test out.
It all depends on the user

Hello all.
I was thinking if anyone here had a problem like mine or knows what to do.
I bought a LG G4 dual sim 818p last week.
the phone is great, but it has some problem that i think is software related, and i think is governor problem.
It has the latest android version avaible, original from lg.
the thing is that in standby it is great, i get 1% drain in 24 hours...
but if i use the phone just for web browsing or facebook it heats as hell, and i lose 1% batery in 3 minutes...
no gaming, no downloading and no SIM card in it.
Just drains as hell and gets to hot just for web browsing.
I also noticed with battery gsam analyser that if i use the phone it always puts the all processors on 100% speed and for me that is the problem and it has got to be a bug on the governor settings.
any ideas?
many thanks,
what can i do?

Not having a simcard does phone scans fro network?
you could do factory reset if same flash stock firmware using LGUP.. if its marshmallow then be careful wich antirollback you 0n... also i read
LP has better battery than MM.
Hi,
many tanks for your reply.
I also did the same test with the sim cards inserted and the problem was the same.
Meanwhile I flashed the original rom version V20b (I had the V20f) and althou the problem is not gone, things have improved mery much.
I am now sure the problem is software related with the rom and the way it manages the cpu load and speed.
I am pretty much sure if developers of the original rom had more attention to cpu load vs cpu speed this phone could be awsome and have great battery life.
The thing is way does it need to have 6 cores running on full speed just for webbrowsing? It seems to me they dont know how to control the ammount of cpu cores and speed vs the load we put on it.

You can install V10 Lollipop and heatup problem will be resolved. MM has issues on 818 in terms of battery drain + heatup.
Even I am currently facing Battery drain Issues was thinking to switch to LP...!! But my LGUP does not detect my phone !!! (818N)
from my experience, i've already tried rolling back to a lot of different version of lollipop, v10k rooted+debloated, v10l rooted+debloated, camuix v3 (v10d base), camuix alpha test4 (v10e base), i love using xposed framework, and also i'm a user who loves installing things,it was about 400+ apps/games installed and guess what, it drains my battery 5-7% every 15 minutes without doing anything. and then i tried again using marsmallow, first, i install v20e, but i don't like the UI that much, so i flashed genisys system.img (v20c base) via download mode and disabling some bloatware via debloater. so after having v20c with genisys ui, i install every apps/games i had before 1 by 1, and now, there's about 428-433 apps/games on my phone. after day to day use, i don't really feel too much battery drain regarding a lot of apps/games i had. and also it will go overheat just when playing games or watching videos, it doesn't really overheat when browsing. and about the SOT, it can go up to 3-4 hours depending on network or gps uses, when i use my phone as turn by turn navigation, it can survive about 2.40-3.20 hours. actually, i do really miss every xposed framework i uses before, but i don't really feel so much different. because now in marsmallow, i can use my 128gb microsd as adoptable storage, a lot of CPU & GPU governor improvements, a lot of OOT improvements, a genisys theme, and by using such apps like floatify, fooview, appblock, and adguard, it just feel's like a rooted phone. and one last thing, now i can throw away any kernel or script modifier i've previously used, it was a really really hard time on optimizing this phone with that method, lolz. btw if u need some screenshot, i'll post it

well if you unlocked bootloader flahsing other kernels might have different governors some are foe performance some are more tame... yes i agree why use alot of cores when it can handle with one core or 2.. but thats how governors are some are in ondemand it goes from lowest cpu to highest cpu only if you open a pic.. its less lags but all that cores arent need it.. a governor like smartass v2 or intellimn will use less cores depending on what you are doing.

Hey people.
I own the OnePlus 3 and its is on a custom ROM Named Experience OS based on OB 17.
Its running on the kernel provided by the ROM and firmware is also stock as I use TWRP from Blu_spark v 33.
Now the problem is when I am charging the device it heats up abnormally high note higher than 46 degrees.
And also I get bad standby time with only upto 4 and a half hour Run time between charges.
I have noticed high drainage from Android System.
I charge only upto 80℅.
Tell me where I am wrong.
Do I need to visit the service center..??
If you require additional information do tell me.

Try another ROM or kernal. I think sultan's ROM has better battery experice and less heat issues. Try to switch to Sultan's.
Something isn't right since dash is meant to take the heat away from the device while it's charging
Are you using the phone at the same time? Also check your app usage maybe a rouge app is keeping it away while charging and causing the heat
+1 i too face the heating issue while the phone is charging. I had a strange incident as well: When i visited my parent's house last week, i received a phone call while it was getting charged and since it was from a family person i told my father to receive it in my place as he was standing near the phone. As soon he touched the phone to his ears he told, "it's is very son".
I have been facing this since last couple of months when i used to have stock oos. Then unlocked bootloader and started triying different roms. But the heating problemus still there and instead i got addicted to installing roms every week?

Well can you provide us some data atleast? It's not normal that you have to charge your phone every few hours. This means something is draining your phone most likly an user app.. Have you tried a full clean install / factory reset with the unbrick tool (method). With 46 degree you mean Battery temp or whatever? What is your surrounding temperature?
same problem , even i'm charging my op3 from a normal charger. device temp. gets upto 42-43 C .. i live in delhi, india and its too hot here.
and one more thing that only 50 minutes takes my fon to get fully charged ,if i charge my op3 from dash charger . i dont think its good !! high temp. is not good for Li batteries
every thing stock except twrp recovery !! tried many roms but oxygen is better out of those !!

As soon as I use my phone the phone starts cooling down.
But as soon as I set it down it heats up again.
Tried checking for rouge app found Instagram stopped it but still no effect.

Well you see. When you lay down your phone it will go into deep sleep. Deep sleep doesn't use alot of power which means your device won't heat up at all. In your case it does, as you describe you have only 4.5hr of standby which means something is draining your phone drastically. Can you provide some screen shots of your battery stats? Post as many different screen shots as you can. Also BetterBatteryStats is a really good app you can find the free version on XDA.
This was asked in the ExperienceOS thread too.
You have a runaway process on your phone. This will use 20-30% CPU on all cores all the time, more or less. Use an app that can check the KERNEL log like 3C Toolbox and you'll find that the heat is due to excessive logging (like several lines every second) from the same process. One of the more common issues is the kernel not able to get write permission for the pm-service to thr IPC Router. THis is solved by setting SElinux PERMISSIVE until the kernel can write to it.
This will make your phone charge slower, get hotter while doing it and give you lower SOT.
Usually this is due to using Magisk, since Magisk has issues with the sepolicy and needs to set SElinux to permissive. If SElinux is Enforcing (as it SHOULD be to protect your phone) the above issue will arise.
If you're using SuperSU then Jamal issued a FIX for this as he made an error in the init.d config for SuperSU 2.82. Basically the two issues are identical as far as the end user is concerned.
All this can be found in the Experience thread where you asked the same question and did not read the 10 posts right above your question.
Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Phone gets HOT when charging and even playing some mid-spec games :/
The heat can be felt outside of the back cover too

strange but i noticed that clearing apps from memory frequently resulted in heating on my phone. didnt clear a single app since 2 days and it didn't heat at all. stock rom.

For me, AEX 4.5 is the greatest ROM for now on all aspects for the device (Great battery, many customzations, smooth and bugless).
Volte is working on most of the ROMs including AEX (there's no Volte in my country but other people have confirmed it)
(If you really care about security you could try Jaguar [it's targeted to slightly more advanced users] and i THINK most features come with Resurrection Remix)

Of-course this device has heating issue. I can certainly feel it even over the back cover. I am a light/moderate user, never play games. So, I can imagine how hot it will get if engaged in gaming.
Taking no credit from independent developers, but in my opinion the stock ROM is the best. There used to be a time when Android wasn't mature enough and these developers helped bring more options to the plate with custom ROMs. But now, it is not required. I used to be a active rooter/tweaker of devices but I have stopped doing them a year back.
Cool phone, cooler than most phones under load. Especially, cool during calls. A bit heating when using data
Got my heating issue resolved by capping the maximum processor speed at 1920MHZ. On stock room, after running 2 benchmark tests continuously, the temperature on the back was 39.8 degrees. On Aex v4.5, it touched 38 degrees.
I have noticed on my phone with different roms that some utilize or interact better with the baseband than others. On some roms my phone will run on H+ and not change to 4G/LTE. When this happens my phone starts to heat up, and I have to reboot it. After reboot it will connect to 4G. On other roms it will connect to 4G automatically. Just an observation that I have seen over the past couple of months. I am running baseband 9-00026-M8996FAAAANAZM-1.63821.1. Does anyone else have this issue?

Aex 4.5 EAS 2.5.1. Eas 2.2 has slightly more battery life, let's say 15%.
I am planning to buy a used Z2 Plus. I it is only phone with Snapdragon 820 in my budget. Do you think it is a good idea? After all, it has the best hardware considering the price and good ROMs are also available here. What do you think?

Well, first you gotta have a custom kernel which supports cpu overclocking. I've had DarkMoon and Jaguar.... though I prefer DarkMoon.
Then there are two methods to actually underclock the processor:
The first is to use a software to underclock it directly...like set cpu, kernel adiutor, etc. This is a pretty safe process, without the risk of bricking the device.
The second way is by manually setting the clock speed for the "big" cores using something like termux/terminal emulator. This method is what I used for underclocking my device. This is a very direct method, though it has a HIGH RISK of bricking the device.
Before you type just check which cores are big.
In termux shell with root permissions, type:
echo "1920000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
echo "1920000" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/cpufreq/cpuinfo_max_freq
And reboot!
Don't try 2nd method unless you are ready to risk bricking your phone!
P.S. : You can do the 2nd method using a root browser and a text editor as well. Just go to that path and open the file "cpuinfo_max_freq" and change the value to 1920000.

Remove the back cover, let the heat dissipate. It will cool down on it's own.
My heating issues completely solved on aex5.2 after I installed kernel aduitor and enabled thermal throttling. Performance impact is only a slight bit, 152k antutu 7 vs 172k with it off, but the phone is completely cool to the touch now. It's a Snapdragon 820 thing, and that the heat dissipation mechanism is a little budget oriented in the back. Still a solid device!

Total of 4 hours of screen on time is 4 hours ?
Also check what apps you use mostly which is highest in battery consumption list.
4 hours SOT (screen on time) isn't bad if it's for playing heavy duty gaming like PubG or such. Same setup would offer higher SoT if used others daily used apps like social and videos.

The on screen time is 4 hours without pubg. when i am using it little bit.. if i start playing it lasts for about an hour and a half. I have never seen such fast degradation of battery. Please help.

Have you checked in your battery stats as what is eating do much of battery?
That usually points to the culprit.
Otherwise, you can change kernel to a more battery friendly one.
Yes, 90 mins PubG for 100-0% is indeed low, unless your battery has degraded hardwarely

It is just showing android system used the maximum battery after that the apps that i used for 5-10 mins no other thing is running in background too. My condition is such that i use my phone in battery saver. Now you can understand what kind of problem i am facing any solution please?
The condition of battery is good.

Try using different kernel. Select one which is known for better battery backup over performance and try that to see if that helps to get more backup.

In the ROM section here.
I don't use that ROM so I am unable to comment which kernel would give you best results, it's more like Trial n Error type testing you may have to do.
Allow a kernel to run for couple of days before coming to any conclusions about its true potential.
If nothing helps I guess time to try out a different ROM

Oh okay.. what rom do you think i should use to get Maximum battery without compromising on the performance?

Once again tough question since the Custom ROM is meant to satisfy different need of different people. Some wants PubG over anything else. Some wants performance of UI.
More or less all ROMs are good but all have different short comings.
Chose a ROM which is officially supported here and widely used. Unlike your present ROM, which seems to be not supported anymore. This helps to obtain assistance when something isn't in order.
Start with Pixel Experience ROM. Performance, integration, fluid nature of operation is mind blowing. I personally had issue with battery drain when idle (SOT was fine, like 5+ hours with mixed use). AR Beast kernel solve it a bit.
Pixel default with anything mode was drinking 2.5% to 3% battery per hour but after I installed AR Beast, it was down to 1% or even lower per hour when idle like night time.
Some other users have different setup, like @$Ayush$ is running,
PE ROM + AR Beast kernel + Sun Cooling
Then @Rahil4321 is running following setup,
PE + Heliox V2 kernel + Boost v7 + Uber Cooling
Then @sanjay.2704 is running following,
PE with heliox 2 with akt project xana balanced
So if you chose to try it out, check that ROM section and start with the ROM first, after couple of days depending on your need chose a setup by asking there. As those individuals can comment about their setup, how or why.
I am presently running AiCP 13.1 may 4th build (latest one). No extra modification or kernel or any such. Performance is some what satisfactory, things are working fine. By things, I mean most of the stuff I use in daily life.
But pixel was by the smoothest ROM I have used. So start there. Couple of issues that I faced with it was as wrote above, battery drainage in idle (others have solved it with different setup), then WiFi link limited to 72 Mbps (AEX/AiCP/ZUI i see connecting at 150 Mbps) last of all the Jio reception (but all custom ROM I have used have this network bar fluctuation issue) issue, but never faced call drops.

That was actually helpful. Thank you..
DotOS
I was also previously using CitrusCAF 3.6 as it gave best battery life. But in last month or so, battery drainage became very common. Even on clean installation.
I have currently settled on DotOS Oreo after trying AEX5.5 and RR. AEX gave me 4hr+ SOT. But DotOS gives around 6-7hr+ SOT.
I am a moderate user. No bugs so far and smooth.

I have moved to PE with custom kernel and cooling. The device never felt so much snappier. PE is better than every other rom that i have tried.
