From a cold start, holding Volume up + Power doesn't put you into recovery?

Flashed CWM as boot.img

Hi
I have flashed CWM v5.8.4.0 as boot.img and can not access the fastboot menu now to reflash the correct .img. can anyone help
I've been looking but cant find anything pointing me into the right direction
If I leave the phone to boot without holding down any buttons it boots into CWM v5.8.4.0
Then when I go into advanced then select reboot recovery it boots CWM v5.8.3.1
When I hold down the vol button it still boots into CWM v5.8.4.0
Please help and I really hope I have not bricked my phone :crying:
Many Thanks.

[HELP!] Stuck with Stock Recovery; Unable to Root

Hey guys,
So I had 5.1 on my Canvas A1 with Root+TWRP Recovery. To get 5.1.1, I unrooted and installed stock recovery to get the OTA. Now, I have an unlocked bootloader, but I can't install TWRP or any other Custom Recovery. I followed the videos and tutorials on how to install custom recovery and there doesn't seem to any problem, but then when I open the recovery mode, I get that "No Command" screen of the stock recovery. I hold power+up to get into that, but even then when I try to root the device by installing SuperSU.zip, it displays some problem:
failed to verify whole-file signature
signature verification failed
installation aborted

Please help.
The phone's running well, in other aspects. But I'd really like it to be rooted again.
Thanks in advance.

try this ,
flash recovery using fastboot " fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and immediately boot into recovery using command "fastboot boot recovery.img" , when you are in recovery reboot into recovery again but now from recovery( there will be option in recovery to do this).... now check if you have custom recovery or not ....
Solved!
Thanks, guys for your suggestions. But I used Android One Toolkit, and that worked like a charm. It installed a custom PHILZ Recovery + re-rooted my Canvas A1. Thanks for your inputs anyway. :good:
