The easiest method of installing TWRP is by using TWRP Manager...

I can overwrite the recovery (I have CWR) with TWRP Manager? No problem?
The software showme a windows with this "Something is wrong: FLashing recovery was unsucessfull. Either you already have this recovery installed or another has occurred. Would you like to attempt rebooting to recovery now?... It give me 2 options CANCEL and OK.
If you already have CWM (ClockworkMod recovery) installed, then installing TWRP after will just overwrite it. Normally that error pops up if you already have TWRP installed. Select OK, and let it reboot into recovery. Then post back w/ the results. Also make sure to select D851 as the phone model, and 2.8.7.0 as the version of TWRP to install.
SOLVED. TWRP and Root access. Thank you redduc900. :victory:

Either downgrade to Kitkat using TOT/KDZ and LG Upgrade Tool or if you want a one click method and trust Chinese downloads, then download Autorec and root package from:
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1o6YpUsE
Use password: rjte
Navigate to one of the folders which has kingroot app, which roots temporarily and then use autorecmm app for D858HK. This should downgrade bootloader to Kitkat, install TWRP, downgrade modem to compatible version and flash bumped MM boot image. Of course, permanent root with SuperSu will be there as well.
If you prefer DIY methods then there are a few other posts by me and @topet2k12001 which should be helpful.

Hi, you must install KingRoot latest version and Beta Super su 2.5.2. After this you would have enabled administrator permission.
In case of failure the update binaries in SuperSu, you must again install TWRP apps in order to install the custom recovery ( the latest version is 3.0) and finally, you must install the Supersu file (from recovery) in version 2.52 (is the one that works best on android Marhsmallow).

root is the problem, I am not able to root my Phone, I tried Kingroot, but no luck,
You must install to KingRoot in latest version from its official site. Then run the application and leaves that the process is complete. In the end, the application will show an error message indicating that it has not been possible to establish root on your phone. You should try to at least three times. If the error persists, install the application root check and verify if the root permissions have been granted.

Ok I will check this, one more thing, can you tell me that How I can install twrp.img file (available in above mentioned link) usin TWRP Manager tool. or is there any other way available for installing this file.
Hi guys ☺,
I bought today G4 eu model,it came with Marshmallow 6.0 V20d version.
I want to root it because of Greenify and Xposed,to increase the battery time, maybe later to flash some rom but...
There is a lot of topics on this subject,I started to read but I'm lost right now...as far as I saw,I can't root Marshmallow without unlocking the bootloader, only Lollipop, right?
Is it a big trouble to go back from MM to LP?
I'm not new in this flashing and rooting stuff,I had (still have) a Motorola Razr XT910,I flashed it 100 times for sure for 3.5 years but I didn't had to unlock the bootloader (it's impossible anyway) and there's a custom recovery Safestrap, modified Twrp which allows to flash and use 6 different roms, from JB to MM,without changing the kernel...
I will be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction,to give me some useful links etc.
And is there some list which procesess are safe to freeze with TB and which ones I can greenify?
Oh,and the bloatware too...
Sorry if I'm demanding but I want to bring out the best from this phone
Thank you in advance

Hi,
root without unlocking bootloader works only on lollipop, right. Not sure if u can downgrade, but when, u will use "LGUP" tool with the "H81510D.kdz" file. Maybe there exists a pre-rooted kdz to flash.
If u want to root android 6, u need a unlocked bootloader. Rooted Android 5.1.1 or unlock bootloader with rooted android 6.x.x
Ok,I successfully unlocked the bootloader but now I'm stuck with rooting and installing Twrp...
I've downloaded BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247 and TWRP-3.0.0.0-H815+ but there's a lot of metods,which one should I use?
Flash SuperSu+Twrp with stock recovery?
Install Twrp with adb command and then flash SuperSu with Twrp?
Install both with adb command?
I also saw somewhere that I must flash some other kernel that is already rooted...
I just need root and the Xposed for now, help me guys!
Im also Confused..Where can i find rooted kernel?
I already did this Method u said...But I got Boot Loop
Then I revover my phone with Lg Bridge
We need to find this.....I also Had Android MM with V20d

In my case I wasn't able to flash recovery on the stock kernel, I had to flash boot.img unpacked from the custom kernel like SimpleGX and only then I was able to flash recovery and full kernel through it.

the method i followed was-
1. boot into twrp recovery with adb command(you need to have the twrp.img file in PC and also copy it in internal memory of your phone with SU)
2. flash systemless root with twrp
3. reboot
4. install flashify
5.flash twrp.img from your phone.
6. done
but there aren't as much benefits of rooting as any other phone. viper4android doesn't work. spirit fm doesn't work. xposed doesn't work properly.(these 3 were the main reasons for which i rooted)

I didn't know i could flash something other than .zip files with twrp.
As for viper4android i tried normal way, flashed it with twrp, flashed extreme music mod with v4a fix. None seem to work. The drivers never get installed.
Xposed i haven't tried. I was in process of getting more information about it by reading various threads. But all seem to point to problems like bootloop, fc and Bluetooth issues. Can you guide me towards the best version of xposed for v20d with way to avoid problems or with as less problems as possible?

I think doesn't need to install recovery to root the phone.
Just this:
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot boot TWRP-2-8.7.0-h815.img
Wait a second and it will open, on the phone, the recovery.
Once open go to Advanced -> ADB sideload and take a swipe to start it where it says "Swipe to Start sideload".
Now on the PC write
3) adb sideload BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip
( If it says after the instalation to install supersu etc just abort it)
And then, when installation is complete, press "Reboot System"
I rooted it this way, without install TWRP Recovery

Yeah - but the question has to be asked - why unlock the bootloader and root and not install TWRP? If you've got as far as unlocking the bootloader you might as well make life easier for yourself and install TWRP - that way anything you want to flash in the future can be done without being tethered to the PC, and also allows you to take proper full system image backups etc.

Of course , i agree with you. By the way, we can't root g4 on m6 without unlocked bootloader.
And finally, i decided to pass twrp on my phone, for every file i want to install from twrp, and not every time to boot from pc
You're right
p.s. the first thing i did after twrp installed, was to install g5 live wallpapers
I have an unrooted gpad 8.3 how to get easiest to cm13 have searched the forum but i am unsure how and in wich order to do it.
I have the korean unrooted lollipop. A step by step that an non tech savvy person can follow would be great.
Follow these steps:
1. Root with oneclick root app Kingoroot
2.Install TWRP manager from Play store for download and install twrp
or
you can download it from here https://dl.twrp.me/v500/ and instal trough flashify app
3.then follow this to get TWRP working how to install KK bootloader + files
4. before booting to twrp, download ROM, Gapps whatever want or you would be forced to use adb/micro sdcard for installing it
When u installed TWRP + KK bootloader u wont be able to boot your V50030a ever again only if u do this : With same commands for installing KK bootloader u can install back the LP bootloader through TWRP terminal ..... to get stock rom working again
Thanks will try it during weekend
Took som time before i got time to try this but all went ok on cm13 now thanks for the help upu
Its been a while... How do I root these and get twrp on them so i can flash new roms on them? I Dont even remember how to root them... Help please....
There is guides on the general thread to assist you and your boggle or in the deadicated forum fir verzion devices
The best way:
*TOT or KDZ back to a KitKat version(10b or 12b): https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/guide-flash-to-stock-10b-kdz-method-t2928140
*Then root using Stumproot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...root-stump-root-lg-g3-sprint-verizon-t2850906
*Then install a twrp .img recovery for vs985 using the flashify or Rashr app or something comparable: https://twrp.me/devices/lgg3verizon.html
*Make a backup, wipe, and get flashing
The lazy way: search for the kingroot app and see if it works on your version of 6.0. Some early MM/6.0 versions worked and you could get temporary root that way(root with kingroot doesn't last through reboot). Once you have root, download a flashing app as mentioned above, install recovery, and do your thing.
