Doesn't even look like something that should be called LP 5.2, more like 5.1.2.
There were more design changes from JB 4.1 to 4.2, then L to M.
LOL
Seems to me like Google is just releasing new version codes just for the media attention.

But I think that's okay. We (at least me!) wouldn't like major design changes every year. I'd like to settle in with the OS rather than seeing changes every year.
Would love to see a fully stable and performing 5.1.1 build before worrying about Android M.
/looks over at the FML thread and crosses fingers that a new build will post soon.

Also looking forward to a toro build. Luckily, its not my daily, so it doesn't have to work all the way.
I'm really thrilled for the new features coming with Android M but I would seriously prefer having stable systems instead of bleeding edge features. If you take Ziyan's cm 12.1 as an example, it's still beta but is really stable on my phone, just having some minor issues here and there... That's something you can work with, but sometimes devs declare there roms stable, even if you look at big companies they do it sometimes too, that's just a shame. If I don't need my phone for my everyday life, e.g. on weekends, I try to test some of the bleeding edge stuff, that's a process that has been working out pretty good so far.
I want to keep my galaxy nexus for year . It will be amazamazing it can run the latest version of android. I'm sure that the xda galaxy nexus developers will do this.
Android M for Galaxy Nexus is here:
http://www.tech.infysim.org/2015/10/16/android-m-for-galaxy-nexus-android-marshmallow-6-0-zmod-rom/
This is not a stable build yet, so proceed with caution.
No toro M yet? I am impressed with the compassion on this device. I really think the GNex is a great little device!!

So this is android 2.3.3, not 4.0.x?
I'm not gonna lie, that's kinda a bummer. I've only messed with miui a couple of times, so I'm not really up on their development status. They're still using 2.3.3 as the base? Is there an ICS version in the works(I assume there is)?

Maybe I'll have to try a dual boot for my first time on an Android device. That stuff work pretty well? I was looking at Boot Manager but I was wondering if there is anything else out there. Anyone got any suggestions?

Galaxy Nexus on Android Running Android 4.3 runs Kernel 3.0.72 and Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 runs kernel 3.4.0 . Why so? First no Bluetooth Low Energy and now it's old kernel . One more problem, Galaxy Nexus running 4.3 don't shows Regulatory Info tab under Legal Info tab like Nexus4 WHY Google WHY ??

It's not an old kernel. Just not Linux 3.4.
You have the most recent kernel. Different phone, different linux version.
If you see actually Goog actually updated Gnex kernel, but not the N4 kernel. On 4.2.2 Gnex had 3.0.31, and N4 3.4.0, whereas we have 3.0.72 now, N4 is still on 3
4.0
I'd there the possibility that we could get BLE with an updated kernel from one of the 3rd party developers or kernel makers?

Would need to be 3.4+ on the kernel in order to take advantage of the BLE features. I don't think anyone has a stable version of 3.4 that works on the GNex. Dunno if google is gonna even bother, so unless a kernel developer creates a stable port, then probably out of luck.
That's really a pity. Having the hardware compatibility but no kernel.

Talk about a ripoff man... BLE is the only reason I got my Nexus out of the drawer and flashed 4.3. Why torture us Google?

Anarkia, the dev of AK Kernel, once got a 3.4 kernel fully functional on the GNEX, but unfortunately he left as he don't have his GNEX anymore, but this means that it IS possible that someone else make a 3.4 kernel.
If I remember it right Amperific was trying to make a 3.4 kernel for our gnex.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium HD app
Why don't we start a petition to google with all Gnex owners signing to ask them for BLE support? Maybe with a little pressure...
I don't think we can pressure Google...
Maybe we can rope in some devs that can give it a shot though...
But what for? Porting 3.4 kernel to GN would take up so much time that most of us will already buy another phone so it's waste of developers time I guess
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
3.0.72 is a release from the 3.0.x LTS branch of the Linux kernel, 3.0.87 being the latest version.

Already started . Go star the issue maybe it will help. a year later and 1600+ stars they finally assigned it to Matthew Xie the lead for the bluetooth communications android stuff at Google. No word on whether they are actively working on it, but it is assigned.

Actually, no, that's not true.
The BT chip supports BLE, it's the Kernel that doesn't. The fact that there are problems with Kernel Drivers for the TI CPU is another matter, but I'm sure that could have been resolved with some effort from google, I'm not an expert though...

So why anyone not ports kernel 3.4.0 for gnex ?
I understand that the biggest problem here is the kernel, and that nobody cared to put in the required work for 4.3 since it brought absolutely nothing of importance. However, 4.4 brings a huge amount of new features, but most importantly, as many of you know, it has vastly improved support for lower-end devices, such as the HOV. I know that building a kernel is a huge amount of work, but I think that for a legacy device this cool, it's actually worth it. Will anyone actually go for it? khmhellboykhm
its not that nobody cared, people bought new phones and moved on
@bradthomas127 got 4.3 booting for the CDMA variant so I'm sure its possible! We will just have to be patient and see
I'm waiting on @cybervibin & @lilrob1213 to get it up and running and then i will steal it and post is as my own ROM just like i did with Carbon4.3
It's going to be a while before i'll even look into it, it will probably be another month before CM starts even releasing KitKat branches onto GitHub.
I've been watching all the trouble Lloir has been having on IRC trying to build 4.4 AOSP and i dont think this is going to be a easy process.
I have made a kitkat branch and have started doing some big clean up getting ready it.

The reason people are telling you you can't compare, other than outright respect for the Dev, is that no two circumstances are the same. Applications, processors, solder, climate, age of battery, perception of lag/fragmention, reception, etc. Tons of things go into this. If you and I both sat next to each other, and did clean flashes, no gapps, both of our devices would behave differently with identical use. What is butter smooth for me, may be a janky mess for another. My SD card has worked with every last AOSP build out so far that I've tried. Many others report it's still broken. The best advice is to flash and test on your own device, under your own conditions, and let that guide you.

If I have to give up my camera for not using one UI I want something with better options and more features because gcam is a big step down from standard Samsung camera and I haven't seen anything really worth the loss in the note ten note 10 plus development. Hell I've only seen like 2 or three mods of oneui so pickings are slim. If your gonna a take a crack at it shoot for the stars.

What is the outlook for any sort of bootloader unlock / root for the D2Q, aka Qualcomm US Variant SM-N975U1? What's the max bootloader upgrade to get a lock code these days? I've been fighting off oem security patch updates for a minute, since last time I checked they said I was fxxed... Lol.. Any direction?
Also, I have a rooted C2S, SM-N985F, running a custom TWRP with Magisk, and was wondering if any decent ROMs have been created yet for this one? I know wrong thread, sorry, but I'm reaching. Thanks for all you guys do, I'm a noob, but you guys are my heroes and I aspire to someday be able to be a part of this resistance! Lol.
Another project of mine, Jkruse' S5 Exploit is working great so far, but I'm just dipping my toes into this so far, not using it for anything besides a hobby, but not entirely against the idea of swapping it out for my e'ryday phone. So, I reading this is V7a Arm 32? I upgraded from a Stock Marshmallow to LineageOS Android 11, this is where it gets confusing as to which OpenGapps I should be flashing... Any direction in that area? I tried the V7a, which failed, so I'm thinking I should have grabbed the 32 instead? I was looking into NikGapps, BC that worked perfect for my C2S running Tiramisu, but all the mixed OS's and Architectures and Arms, plus Android Versions are still a bit, okay a LOT confusing for me. Thanks,
LibertyJ #FreeTheDragons.... Lol
