Using the latest WW firmware, when using Power Amp and Spotify, the notification has the ability to skip songs, and play/pause. There is also a spot of close out of the app and stop music.
The issue I am having is that I can't use any of those buttons. All I can do is press the notification, which brings up the full app. Clicking any of the notification buttons doesn't do anything at all.
It happens on both lock screen, and when phone is unlocked.
Anyone experiencing this and/or know of a solution?
Does anyone think a factory reset would help? Or is it something I should return it over?
I think, no because i have a fresh install with full wipe. Have the same problem with Google Music Player and to remove the Earphone Icon in statusbar when i stop play music, i must wish it out many times before it doenst come back.
I have the same issue even the widget at the home screen and lockscren don't work
So it seems to be a bug then. Hoping they get it fixed soon!
Same problem here. Been thinking it might be the Asus Launcher and may try Google Launcher later tonight to see if it fixes it.
On the latest WW firmware rooted and I have not problems with the notification or lock screen widgets with Poweramp or Pandora.
got he same with spotify, but not with tha asus app music
For people with this issue, did you buy the TW version and have the update to the WW version? Maybe that is causing the issue?
I'm getting the same problem with MX Player... CN model with WW firmware
Also I noticed that the pre-installed music application works well, why the rest not?
Huh, just noticed that, too! Asus Music app notifications work perfectly....
So it must be a bug with only 3rd party music apps?

Probably must be something missing in the third party softwares that the Asus app has... The question is: what it could be?
Got around to testing it now. Google Launcher will cause the same problem for apps like Music Folder. Soundcloud does however seem to be working fine for whatever reason.

Which version did you buy? CN, TW, WW, or US?
I have the TW version that was auto-updated to WW out of the box (as most people's were). So maybe that's the issue

US meaning WW? What does Google Play music display? Is the app not working or just music notifications?

WW build. I don't have any in the app, but the notification doesn't work for Google Play Music. It updates to the song playing, but the controls do nothing.

So I was playing around with my phone a bit and I noticed that the app MusicFX was running in the background. I checked the next day and it wasn't running. The moment I started the music player, however, it started as well.
I didn't install this app myself, and I'm not sure if it was on the phone already, but looking at the version number, it's already outdated. Finally it doesn't give me the option to uninstall it, just disable it. I just don't know if the music player actually depends on it or not (maybe the included equalizer uses it or something), so I'm hesitant to disable it.
Does anyone else already have this app preinstalled?
I do. I'm going to go ahead and say the equalizer in the music player uses it

Interesting that google would use 3rd party software in their OS without even announcing it. I wonder what would happen if I downloaded MusicFX from the market (since it doesn't acknowledge that I have it installed). I guess there's only one way to find out...

Are you sure it's the same app? What is the full activity name in the app manager? (e.g. com.google.apps.AppName...)

com.android.musicfx - I'm almost positive that it's the same app. Same icon as well. Do you not have it? It shows up in the cached processes section of the running tab when you play music with the stock player.

I don't have a Galaxy Nexus yet. But if the activity name is com.android.musicfx, then that's a Google app. Maybe Google bought the company that made the original Musicfx?
FWIW, I use Spotify, and have been regularly seeing crash notifications for MusicFX. I just disabled it and haven't noticed any issues in Spotify playback.
MusicFX - Android 4.03
After the recent update to Ice Cream Sandwich I see an option to enable MusicFX in the music effects panel. (Settings>sound>music effects) HOWEVER it does not show up in settings when playing a song in the stock music player, which it is supposed to do.
I have been using equalizer app for months which seems to work fine with ICS.
I looked up MusicFX in the Android Market - it did not say open, rather install so I installed it. Ended up with two copies in the music effects panel, and Equalizer stopped adjusting volume levels. I uninstalled the MusicFX I downloaded and Equalizer is now working again.
It appears Google Music is not implementing MusicFX despite it being in the Options.
Some folks have reported volume problems since updating to ICS. Any thoughts/suggestions on this problem????
Many people here are using Volume+ instead of music fx and have seen improved results with it.
I have noticed in custom roms that MusicFX is being removed. There are volume issues with the Galaxy Nexus (being too quiet) and I assume (part of) the problem is this MusicFX app considering the process to get the SGN louder is to get an equilizer app like Volume+ and going to Settings>App>All>MusicFX and disabling it.

It does show up in Play Music at least. Play a song or go to the Now Playing screen, tap the menu or actions button, Sound effects. Whatever music effects app you have selected under the system settings, sounds, music effects will open. In my case, my I've selected DSPManager instead of MusicFX.

It does show up in the app, if its enabled under Settings. Stock music app being Google Music, of course.
4 Years later it's still revelant
MusicFX is still being pre-installed still. It has improved EQ, Bass Boost, and Virtualization effects for us who like to customize our listening experience. As far as I know MusicFX is pre-installed with agreements with the developer. It's probably in line with Google's vision. It does sound good. My device is a Huawei Union (Y538) with it pre-installed. (manufactured in 2015).
MusicFX compatible players use it for example, selectable in PowerAmp(has it's own sound system better than MusicFX). Google Play Music, Spotify to name a few.
Anyone else finding problems with this?
Noom/CradioTrainer and SpeakToIt (Assistant) are 2 apps I use that can use music/playlists on the phone, neither of these apps can find any music or playlists but both apps claim to work fine with "stock" Android music players.
These are just 2 apps I use, I'm sure others use different apps that use music on the phone, how are you finding them?
Is there anything that can be done by the user to rectify this?
is there anything I can go back to the developers with to help it work better?

The package name of the new Music app is different from the old one. The developers just need to update their apps to send the Intents to the right package.

Actually, nevermind, I was wrong, it's not an Intent, it's a ContentProvider that hasn't changed in ICS, so I'm not sure why apps stopped being able to query playlists...
Those apps wouldn't be able to find your music from the Google music app anyway because that music comes from the cloud. Unless you pin your music from the Google music app, those songs wont store to your phone for the other apps to pick up.

The Adidas miCoach app still picks up playlists from the Music app fine, so it must be something to do with the apps you're using.
I remember I used to be able to play audio out of more than one app at the same time. But since 4.1 I think I can't do that anymore. I run aokp as my rom.
Did google remove that ability in 4.1 by chance? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
i dont think so, could be that particular rom or kernel. Why would you want too anyways that has to be one of the most annoying things in the world...

While playing music with Play Music, it would be nice if email notifications didn't stop the music briefly. I would like to be able to hear both at the same time.

This. Also I like to listen to a police scanner stream at the same time as music. It used to work fine but now I only hear the first one to begin playing.
Another day, another question...
Has anyone been able to get SW/HU controls to work on any other players besides the default one on 5.1.1 ROMs? I've tried XposedMTC and the CarService application, but XposedMTC does not work at all, probably due to it only being compatible up to 4.4.4, and CarService starts up a completely different music player. There was an option to get the SWC to work with Spotify, but that didn't work at all. I am guessing that my Android version is too new? I also tried different music players, such as VLC and PowerAmp (which has been confirmed to work using CarService), but had no success in getting that to work either. Anyways, if anyone has any tips/tricks/guides, I am willing to do it. Even if it involves having to mess around with some system files, as I really like the CM13 music player.
Flash the latest Malaysk rom and Carservice will work with your sw controlling 3rd party apps.
You can try to use MtcdTools http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...ease-mtcdtools-control-music-players-t3436789

I used this and it worked with both my SW/HU controls, but it would only work in Spotify. When I used a player that was listed to work with MTCDTools, it would keep opening up Spotify and play a random song.

Yeah. I installed v1.2. I checked to make sure that the button wasn't mapped to launch spotify. Still getting the same results.
Are you sure you do not have conflicts with e.g. CarService? Definitely it looks like other apps are listening for key press.
What is the second player that you are trying to control?
