I remember I used to be able to play audio out of more than one app at the same time. But since 4.1 I think I can't do that anymore. I run aokp as my rom.
Did google remove that ability in 4.1 by chance? I'd appreciate any suggestions.
i dont think so, could be that particular rom or kernel. Why would you want too anyways that has to be one of the most annoying things in the world...

While playing music with Play Music, it would be nice if email notifications didn't stop the music briefly. I would like to be able to hear both at the same time.

This. Also I like to listen to a police scanner stream at the same time as music. It used to work fine but now I only hear the first one to begin playing.

I'm curious to know if this worked. I don't think it's that simple, I believe you actually need the framework

Has anyone tried using the apple or "made for iPhone" headphones with inline controls on the evo? Do the controls work?

As far as i know, a couple music players work with them but not too well. the stock Evo music player had play/pause functionality, but after I tried installing other music players, cubed for example, I lost the functionality in the stock music player. I'm not sure about this music player, because im letting my brother borrow my headphones, but i will definitely try them when i get a chance.
Also, does anybody know if their is a music player that will give the song changing controls in the notification bar? same concept as when in a call and the notification bar is pulled down, the "end call" button is right there. I see it as being a simple concept but im not a developer so no disrespect to any of the awesome devs out in the world. still waiting for full Desire HD rom
Yes, i guess i did forget to mention this isn't from cyanogen, but it was from an aosp "like" rom that had the g2 launcher on it. I pulled it form that, but since it looked like the cyanogenmod one, i just uploaded it

You were correct, this is a different one that i pulled from a aosp "like" rom
Like many of you, I am a avid iPhone hater. The iOS software does have one cool feature that would be cool if the devs......thank you for all your hard work btw..... Could bake something into a rom. It is on all apple devices, say you are rocking out to your music with friends and you want to here something on YouTube. Apple software it automatically mutes what you were listening to and starts play the the new audio app you have selected. Just a suggestion, I have very basic programming knowledge so i am not much help, but I think everyone would appreciate this mod.
Thanks,
Well I just played something in double twist, then went to YouTube, and when the video started playing it paused my music, closed YouTube, went back to DT, and hit play. It picked up where I left off.

Plus 10 it gives you the option to enable/disable
Unfortunately the music apps i use include YouTube, I heart radio, tune in radio, stock music player, and subsonic and that feature does not work with any of those apps. So I guess it's just not a widely popular idea so far.
I know Pandora does this too. It's all about the apps used, not the ROM.
Even youtube leaves off where u where when u switch to another app or press home and return to youtube
I am on the hunt for the best music playing app. I currently use Google Music, as it is one of the best I have used to date. My problem is with the new limitation on devices I am eventually no longer going to be able to use it because I flash new roms all the time.
I don't want to store all my music on my SD because it is not exactly the most efficient way for me. I want to be able to stream my library just like the way Google Music does it, but I can't find anything that works as nice.
I'm sure I will not be the only one that will encounter this problem with the stupid limitation thing.
Any ideas???
I thought Google had fixed that a couple weeks ago? Have you tried checking on the Google Music webpage on your computer?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA
Yea, Google responded pretty quickly to that uproar

I'm all for Google Music because of the cloud integration. I still find it amazing that I walk around with my 15,000 songs and 100+ playlists in my pocket.
I believe the stock audio player for CM9, Apollo, will also be a market app if I'm not mistaken. Anything from those guys is definitely worth checking out
thanks. I didn't know they fixed it. I cleaned up my device list now. Let's just hope that they don't put a limit on this in the future.
Can two different apps play audio simultaneously?
I'm looking to hear radio talk shows on the dogcatcher app and at the same time be able to hear music from another app.
I believe the developers call it audio focus.
Can it be done??

Why would you even want to do that? I could turn on my TV and my radio at the same time but there wouldn't be a whole lot of fun in that!

Why do you want the radio on at the same time as the tv?
Cause I like to party

Spoken word won't clash with instrumental music. if you hear them together it sounds like it's part of the song.. but if the song would include singing then yeah that would suck...
But anyway... can it be done??

You might be able to use an audio mixer app.
If you are using it for meditation there is apps like "Beyond Time" that would mix both background music and voice-over.
But by most part having more than one audio running is not enjoyable. For some of us, having different audios (that are not harmonized with each other) playing at the same time forces our minds to try to focus on both audios at the same time. That makes for painful headaches and extremely annoying at best. I personally don't get people having TV audio and music running at the same time. It is like the TV audio is a comfort sound blanket for some people. Mixing talking audio and background audio is tricking at best. The background audio needs not to be interfering with the focus on the talking. Which is the reason that one needs planning in mixing background audio with talking. As mention above there are apps for that. Audios that harmonizes with each other, well mixed talk & background audios, and ambient audios is the only audio sets that I can personally stand playing together.
So because there is not that much demand for this "feature", as well as stopping audio from playing when taking calls, another audio/video app starts to run, etc is a feature of these devices, there is not an easy way of playing two audio sources that I know of.

Can it be done? probably very easily
I have a Samsung Galaxy Edge phone and although I see "call a car" as one of the available "actions" in the Android Wear app, I'm not able to click on it so I can't associate Uber to that action. Could someone check if they have the same issue? Does anyone know of a solution?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using XDA Free mobile app
No uber
You can use lyft for wear I believe, uber app not yet supported. I think there might be a couple of a smaller taxi services that you can use also. Yes, in the browse app section under watch faces selection, there is gett taxi, and lyft under travel and local section.
I am seeing the same thing. I was not able to use Uber on the watch.. Maybe an update is coming from Uber...
IT's not just Uber, I have a lot of apps like this that I cannot associate an application with. Even "Play music" does not work because I cannot associate the action with the music player on my phone. Bit dumb.

I am able to associate Play Music with my watch. I noticed that while your watch is syncing it doesn't show up as an option but once its fully synced you should be able to choose Play Music as an action for your watch.

thanks mate
it's not a big deal for me, because all it does is launch the app on the phone anyway. If I stream music via bluetooth from my phone to my car, I can pause it and play it again from the watch.
It would be nice if someone made a custom ROM for the watch which allowed you to associate any app
I agree it should be opened up a bit.. Hopefully we may see some traction as speaker support is inbound..
