[Q] Issue with default music player timing - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed that while using the default player for music the time indexing in the song gets screwed up if I lock my phone and then go back in. It appears to lose count of where I am in the song and when I go back to look at it is is always behind where it actually is. It will end with anywhere from 20 to 50 seconds remaining in the song according to it (for example I start a song, lock the screen and wait a minute, then go back and it says the song has only been playing for 20 seconds), it then proceeds to skip that remaining time and go to the next song so it doesn't effect the playback of music at all but is more of a nuisance. I have checked with other music apps (like Google Play Music) and this problem does not occur and am posting this because I have had trouble finding people with the same issue, any help would be greatly appreciated. (In regards to software, it is all stock)

I have experienced this too, even on a stock system. Sorry to say, but you may be stuck waiting for HTC to fix that bug.

Sorry to say, but it is quite foolish to buy hima M9 and then to use so called stock player..
Get Neutron Player NOW! It is the only player what may fully utilize the audio hardware implemented in hTc hima my9 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neutroncode.mpeval
The player settings are HERE https://www.dropbox.com/s/ds9qe8pwe1scaks/Neutron.zip?dl=1

Music player won't skip parts of song

I use the music player that comes with the HTC Touch Pro 2. (I did do an upgrade from the HTC site)
The problem is that the musicplayer won't let you skip forward, the green bar does go to where you want it but the song will still start from scratch.
With a song it's not that big of a problem but I also use the HTC to listen to audiobooks and it's no fun listening to the first 2 hours over and over because you might have restarted by accident.

[Q] Do you have problems with Google Music/other Music apps?

There are several threads now detailing a problem with playing music, mainly reported when using the Google Music app. To be more specific here are some examples:
When playing music and then multitasking, the phone crashes and requires a battery pull and reboot.
Another is when playing music and then turning the screen off, the music is jerky and stutters.
People have reported this happening with apps other than Google Music, so it would appear that this isn't a problem with the Music app, but either the phone or ICS.
I wanted to start a poll to gauge how many people have this problem and establish whether it's everyone or not.
Here are some links to what I'm referring to:

Your poll is a bit flawed. My experience so far is that these crashes are a bit more random than being attributed to any specific apps right now. I've experienced the crash, but long story short, I am not convinced it was related to the exact app that I was using at the time.
Well just because you have experienced an unrelated crash it doesn't mean my poll is flawed, just that you have a separate issue
People have spoken of this happening repeatedly when trying to use Music and multitask so I think it is definitely an issue of it's own. Usually it is said that the sound/screen goes corrupt and then requires a battery pull. Are you not referring to a random reboot or something?
i have a couple of problems with PowerAmp, no problems with google music though.
1. PowerAmp can't see playlists that were created in google music
2. PowerAmp stutters when the screen goes to sleep. (does the clock speed lower when the screen goes off?)
i've read that increasing the buffer size in poweramp options fixes no. 2. I havent tried it due to no.1.
i'm just using google music at the moment.
WinAmp i found would often have slight cracks in the music (i.e. stop and start again quickly, almost like it was being disturbed/cpu high).
doubletwist is fine though, as is Music player
This is such a huge problem I can't believe more people haven't responded :S
I've had Google Music, Rhapsody, and Pandora all crash at one time or another.

problem number 2 here for me. songs with high bit rates tends to trigger the stutter problem after the phone goes to sleep. tried on google music and playerpro
Google Music 4.0.1 (ICS stock) often crashes within a minute after I reboot the phone - without me actually using it.
Obviously it's trying to do something in the background on start-up and fails. Miserably.
Did not crash while I was using it so far, but I didn't run it for any lengths of time either. No problems with other apps crashing, just Music.

Yes I notice it too, it's very annoying especially since I payed so much for this phone and a good set of headphones just for my high bit-rate music to constantly stutter; hopefully google fixes this. I seem to only notice this on the stock music player, but I prefer to use it over others due to its integration with the lockscreen and notification pulldown bar, especially considering the nice visuals it now has.
my 2 cents:
i can recreate the crash consistently by doing the following:
1. reboot the phone and connect a pair of headphones
2. stream a song (i.e., a song that's not already saved to the phone) using google music
3. use the home button to leave the google music app and return to the homescreen
4. while the song is playing, try to increase or decrease the volume of the music with the volume buttons and then almost immediately the phone reboots automatically.
i haven't been able to recreate the issue once with the headphones disconnected. also, the issue doesn't seem to occur if you connect the headphones after you start playing the music. i need to test that theory some more though.
I noticed this right away when I got my phone (launch day)
Since I constantly stream music from google music, I noticed pops and weird noises all the time. Very weird and SUPER annoying
The stock music app is not able to find my music at all. I use PowerAMP now and that works fine.
Music also crashes when not actively in use at all. When I open a lot of apps, i.e. multi-task a lot, Music often just force closes after a while.
I'm using PowerAmp now to listen to music stored in either .flac or the highest quality .mp3 files lame could produce. Some are 320kbps cbr others are vbr. In PowerAmp I set the process to the highest priority possible but left the buffer on auto.
I have never had any reboots or studering when locking the screen and I've been listening to music for over 3 hours now while doing some home work. Just to test it I put on one of my flac files and quickly locked and unlocked the screen. The phone took it like and champ with no studers at all.
No problems with music apps crashing, or needing to pull the battery. The only issue I have is with music or podcasts played through the native music player or Google Listen stopping at random intervals. Happens using wired speaker/headphones or bluetooth audio.
Frustrating, but not a dealbreaker yet.
I called Verizon for no other reason other than trying to create a record of the issue... They claimed to have not heard of this... Is there any way to let Samsung know directly? I know there is a google code ticket open, but Google hasn't "owned" the issue yet... I'd also say if you have the issue to let VZW know so they can get things in motion on their side as well.

It seems they don't give a ****, unfortunately. Just have to live with it..
WinAMP - today while playing an album with the screen off paused (twice). I had to turn on the display, and hit the play button to continue. There was a bit of a lag (I got the FC screen, but when i hit wait the app returned a few seconds later)

[Q] Music player resets track

I listen to long audio files on my music player going to and from work. I am new to the Dinc2 and have noticed that if I am part way through a track when I get to work, the music player resets to the beginning of the track when I go to listen again at the end of the day. These are long files - sometimes a track is 30 - 50 minutes long - so it is a pain to find my place again. Does anyone know how to prevent this?

Maybe try a different player,I don't know of it has out or noir bit Apollo of the play store is a good one,try it...
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda app-developers app
Is it the stock player? I think the Google and Android player limits amount of time it can be active. Like said above Apollo is cool. Also GoneMad is fairly lightweight n has tons of options, but only a 14 day trail period. Tons of other players out there.
Yes, it is the stock player. I will try Apollo, and some others, and see how it goes. Thanks
Music Folder Player
So I tried a bunch, and finally landed on Music Folder Player. It keeps track of my place in the track, even through a full reboot, and has scads of options. So far the free version seems fine.

[Q] Strange Behaviour: Stock Music Player forgets where in a song it was

Hello guys,
I've been tracking a very annoying issue with HTC's stock Music App.
***Short Version***: The player "forgets" where in a song it has been and restarts the song from 0:00.
I realized it, because I listen to audiobooks a lot and it is a pain to search for the point where you've been all the time. Enough background: Here is how to reproduce it:
Open the "Music" app, choose a new track, let it play for some seconds
Shut down the screen with the power button (music still playing)
Wake the screen with the power button and PAUSE the track
Now wait for a certain amount of time. I have to wait two[/i| minutes. My screen goes dark in the meantime (auto-sleep enabled)
[*]Wake the screen with the power button. 1st thing to realize: The Music widget is gone. Unlock the lockscreen --> Now the track is at 0:00 again.
[*]If this does not reproduce it (sometimes it seems to work fine): follow the above list but unlock the screen with a MotionLaunch leading to an App. From there go to Home and start Music from the homescreen.
Do you have this behaviour as well?
I have tried different versions of Viper ROM and ARHD - both react the same.
Do you think this could be a firmware issue? Or a bug in a new version of HTC's Music App?
I'm pretty sure this hasn't always been like that and I have recently updated to 2.22.401.4 with a FUU.

[Q] Last second of song is cut off in stock music player

First off, yes I've seen the other posts about this but have yet to find a solution.
This seems to only happen on certain songs (though it MAY have been that it has but there's at least one second of silence at the end of the mp3).
This only happens when the phone is locked. When the phone is on and the screen is in the music player it plays fully. I have readded files via directly from the computer so it is not corrupted.
This is very frustrating as I would like to hear the end of these songs that don't have at least one second of silence and I cannot leave my phone on, as the battery of the new phone drains quickly even in sleep mode with all applications/notifications off. I have only bought this phone in either october or november of 2014 and it is only march of 2015.
Most problems are fixed with a simple google search except for this one, and this one is particularly frustrating as music is what I use the phone for most.
-Thank you for your time,
P
Stock music app has a somewhat built in fade crossfade and gapless audio tuning. You'll need to find a 3rd party Music app that modifies these values. Personally, I use Apollo, which is CM11's music player. Both TW and AOSP doesn't have problems but it doesn't have the above I mentioned.
Winamp, vlc player, poweramp are really good players and has the tunings available ( trial vers. and free limited )
