Very Good My Friend Nice Kernel Expect more updates
Inviato dal mio GT-I9301I con XDA Forums Pro
Thank you!
Very very very good!
I'll give it a try.
I'm using it with alucard governor, zen sched and ondemand governor for the gpu. It's very fast with less battery life, but it's good
@sev3n1985 you can have a kernel modified for stok original 4.4.2 rom?

For now I'm working on CM11, when we have a good ones i'll jump on cm12
For stock i will try after those project, sure
P.S. I'm building a new version, after some tests with the help of @Danny_Dewet i will publish it.
:cyclops:
BDITA 2.2s
The kernel has been flashed and the phone works properly.
In the next days i'll give feedback.
Anyone could try if works with cm12?

Ok, I'll try ASAP
I flashed the beta 1.
Some questions:
1) explanations on darkness, smartmax, pegasusq, intelliactive and intellimand
2) explanations on msm-adreno-tz, simple_ondemand and msm_cpufreq
3) do i have to switch soc temperature ON or i leave it OFF?
4) i leave 2048 on read ahead buffer size?
EDIT
For the first question i found this: http://androidmodguide.blogspot.it/p/blog-page.html
PS: I'm using darkness governor (a nightmare - a kind of pegasusq more stable - simplier but fast).

About miui boot... strange, before release it i've flashed on Ebita rom and no miui boot :|
1 question.. you've posted the link with the answers
2- those are standard gpu govs, from the Kconfig desc:
msm-adreno-tz - Trustzone based governor for the Adreno GPU. Sets the frequency using a "on-demand" algorithm. This governor is unlikely to be useful for other devices.
simple_ondemand - Chooses frequency based on the recent load on the device. Works similar as ONDEMAND governor of CPUFREQ does. A device with Simple-Ondemand should be able to rovide busy/total counter values that imply the usage rate. A device may provide tuned values to the governor with data field at devfreq_add_device().
msm_cpufreq - MSM CPUfreq based governor for CPU bandwidth voting. Sets the CPU to DDR BW vote based on the current CPU frequency. This governor is unlikely to be useful for non-MSM devices.
Basically : msm-adreno-tz good performance but high battery usage, simple_ondemand less performance but less battery usage and msm-cpufreq never tested :|
3) Is disabled as default since stock kernel, leave it
4) I suggest 1024 as default but after a search seems that 2048 is a good value, try and see if you've better performance with your card

This 550Mhz will be awesome on cm 12.1 i can't wait :beer::beer::beer:

TalonDEV is for use with Samsung Gingerbread Roms
This kernel is still in a heavy development stage! So there may be bugs!! (hence the DEV tag)
Current Co-Devs - Kodos96, Ytt3r & zacharias.maladroit
As always, flash at your own risk, im not responsible for any damages!
Talon Source can be found on Github and Google Code
Stay up to date with latest changes on Twitter
Remember, I cant fix stupid or lazy. Please read the whole OP and the first and last 5 pages of this thead!
Custom Boot Animations
The bootanimation.zip needs to be /system/media/sanim.zip <- notice the name change
CIFS Support
Mount under /mnt/sdcard/cifs instead of /mnt/cifs.. Also use "Mount Manager" instead of "CIFS Manager"
Logcat Instructions
To enable/disable Logcat, type "logcat-enable" or "logcat-disable" in a terminal emulator and reboot
Lowmemorykiller Settings
Talon kernel includes Kodos96's "LMKSet". You can adjust the PRESET=X value in /etc/ram.conf ..
The presets are listed in the file, recommended settings are set by default. Reboot to take effect
Also make sure theres no "ramhack" scripts in /etc/init.d/ , if there is, delete it and reboot.
To install:
Flash .tar with Odin/Heimdall
If using Odin place tar in PDA slot
Enable/Disable Voodoo Lagfix in CWM->Voodoo
Delete Voltage Control settings in CWM->Advanced
Conservative Governor
Conservative is now a module, to load on every boot, dload file below and place in /etc/init.d/
make sure to remove the .sh at the end of the filename and reboot

I just use Voltage Control to set max clock and UV.. But you can use most of the others. Shane87 has been working on a Talon specific version of Voltage Control, called Control Freak, he also has Voltage Control EX, which works good. Plus I also use SetCPU to change governors.. with 0.2.1 I removed Interactive governor...I had been using it and InteractiveX, but seems Ondemand is smoother..but ill work on InteractiveX some and hopefully get it in the next build or two..but for now I recommend just using Ondemand
Thx mate, doesn't seem to want to boot for me right now..
I'm using goa trip, on rfs.
gonna back up and reflash to see if i can get it running..

Seems upping the refresh rate causes colors to be washed out at low brightness, blacks turn browns ..etc.. as for smartass, it does not work well on i9k gingerbread, does not scale down and is laggy.. I did use Interactive and InteractiveX, but they seemed laggy coming out of idel (letting cpu drop to 100mhz then trying to scroll quickly would lag.. Ondemand seems to be the best choice as of right now...trust me, we have tried almost every tweak there is.. u name it, we have tried it
hmmm... flashed via Odin with no re-partition or pit and phone freezes on bootanimation. Was moving from fugu 4.0, all ext4
Thank's Existz,
this kernel is working great on Tweaky ROM SP Final test

Awesome finally a custom kernel for GPE Running great so far for me, Im on Joel's GPE ROM. Noticed a small issue on the OC version, max CPU clock doesnt seem to stick, tried via trickster and shell, it keeps reverting to the max 2.1ghz, I was trying to set it a bit lower to 1.9ghz.

use the lock frequency feature in trickster right above the frequency selections to make them stick.
Sorry to be that guy but anyone have some recommended settings? I'm on the gpe overclocked version.

Overclocked slimbus to max. This is as high as it goes, its 100% stable in testing with no negative impacts. Brings improvements all around for audio playback etc (thx to @ZeroInfinity and me )
.Some generic function optimizations (for faster kernel, better battery.. overall improvements to the code, from CAF)
.Add USB Fast Charge (Flar, Motley, Chad Froebel for original mod)
What is this slimbus OC about?
It will really start to take advantage of the hardware of this phone, as well as the audio improvements in the ERA sound mod. Hopefully it will open the door to more stuff that was previous restricted
Thanks! Have fun

I prefer battery savings and responsiveness, so using smartmax governor with row scheduler, -25000 under volt (this can probably go lower). OC min freq set to 216000. Heres some knowledgeable guesses I am testing out for the governor:
awake_ideal_freq = 486000
boost_freq = 1728000
ramp_up_step = 400000
suspend_ideal_freq = 378000
touch_poke_freq = 1728000
trying to lower the idle sleep frequencies, but boost up faster and higher when you are using the phone (touching button / screen)
see governor source comments if you want to learn more about the parameters https://github.com/Buckmarble/elite.../drivers/cpufreq/cpufreq_smartmax.c?source=cc
edit: been stable across a variety of use for me so far, hopefully will also see battery savings later, if you notice any trouble let me know
Bout Damn time lol

Just flashed this kernel on Cloudyflex 2.
Changelog said that default gov is Interactive. but after first boot, Trickster shows it was OnDemand.
I've nothing set on-boot.
Is that normal?

I have the same problem, need use tweak tools change to Interactive.
sorry for the noob question so interactive governor is preferable than ondemand for battery life? im well aware its all depends with how you use your phone and what apps you installed but which governor do you guys think is best for battery life? not that i'm complaining with my battery life though :cyclops:

I know about this error. The script of the Nexus 4 does not work with G2. Something to handle it

Best gov for battery live is powersave but performance go down. I prefer interactive because CPU faster change freq. and battery life is good.
P.S. Thanks for good words

FAQ
How can i set the kernel features?
The recomend app is FauxClock. Other apps can have problems with cpu freq setting or other features.
Fauxclock isn't supported.
Install Fauxclock > Open and accept SuperSu > force close it > open again (if this isn't working, you need to fix permissions.)
Why i do this? ETA's?
It's only build for my own use, so i update it if i think i must do it. Please do not ask for ETA's.

no that's the only thing that never come into this kernel. the device is hot and fast enough.
Firstly, thanks for releasing this. Really appreciated.
Any chance of adding Kali Nethunter support? I do some pen testing and would love to be able to use it.

Intelli thermal causes a reboot on my phone when it gets hot enough to activate. I've never managed to make it work on note 4 though. This kernel sleeps so well. So much better than anything else. Great work. Keep it coming!

Bro what's your kernel configuration settings?
Hello everyone i would like to share with you my draft project.Its a CM based kernel for nougat roms.
Why release?
Because i wanted to share my work with community.The more toys we got,the more fun we have
Based on ?
Kernel is based on CM 14.1 kernel with some additions.
Kernel editor?
I do NOT include any editor to zip file yet.its just an image file inside a flashable zip.
Bugs?
Yea...surely got.u better tell me
Works on ?
It is supposed to work on every S4 variant that was able to run CM13/14.1 nightly rom.Also it should work on any CM based ROM
This kernel or alucard on JDCTeam roms?
Surely alucard.This kernel is made for fun and for test.Noone could be compared to grandmaster alucard

Thx i will try today
Nice kernel, but you could reduce the frequency of gpu for the fourth step? 600MHz is too much because there is a lot of glitches and artifacts (on my s4) , and I was forced to use 360mhz. I think that was the optimal frequency to 500MHz. But I see a big potential in this kernel. Thanks for your work. Regards
Thanks for the initiative, the only kernel I found for s4 was on android 5.1.1. I'm very confident that you will do a great job. Testing here to give feedback
Yes i have problem with the 600mhz with the GPU... If i reduce ti 360 NP at all
Anyway love this kernel

Hey @side, great work on the kernel, so far everything is running smoothly, I just had to change GPU clock to 360, 600 gave me RRs and artifacts. You have a typo in the thread, the kernel is 3.4.112 not 3.4.110.
