When I try to flash the ruu back I always get an usb error no matter the pc ? What can I do?
Several possible reasons for this:
1) Do you have HTC Sync installed? Or try to uninstall and re-install
2) RUU doesn't work well with USB 3.0
3) If RUU doesn't work with phone booted into OS, try to boot into bootloader-fastboot and see if that helps
4) Also possible something else is wrong, like broken USB port on the phone

Also try another USB port on pc, another cable... And possibly another pc altogether. :good:

All,
I have a big problem. When I try to start my phone I get the black screen with google and the unlocked padloack, after which the screen goes dark and nothing happens anymore.
What I did before this are two things. I had been mukking around with the screen resolution (I had it set at 240 and 280, as some apps did not show up in the market) also downloaded LCD density to solve the market issue.
I then rebooted the device and entered CWM to do a backup which as far as I knew succeeded. unfortunately after rebooting, see the above.
I have tried a couple of reboots, tried restoring the nandroid (the above was the only one I had). that didn't work, so tried to connect to the PC to load a new ICS rom (original 4.0.4 by google), unfortunately my device can not go into USB mode in CMW (it comes up with UMS lunfile missing....)
so I am woring in circles. can't start the device to download a rom, can't open USM to load a ROM to start the device again.....
any help would be appriciated
thanks
Patrick
hey
flash a new ROM via fastboot then, there are enough guides
-Syn
Edit: Alternatively, flash the stock Google ROM via GNex toolkit and go from scratch.
as mentioned, I can't get a rom on the phone so that I can flash it.
I can't start the phone to donwload one, and can't connect it to usb to get one on the storage....
sorry, you mentioned fastboot.... not USB.
so connect it to usb cable. I then entered fastboot devices, no number came up, as was also the case with ADB. thinkin I might not have the correct USB drivers for my windows machine. any idea where to get teh correct one?

To flash stock images the files are on your PC, not the phone.
If you can get the phone to boot into fastboot (via vol up + vol dn + power) and get your PC to recognize it you're good to go.
thats the issue. pc cannot recognize the phone, so cannot get any files from the PC to the phone (ie. cannot get a rom file to the phone...)

Either directly from Samsung or download the GNex Toolkit (You might want to use it anyways to flash the stock image), the drivers come with it.
After you installed the drivers and have you phone plugged in, go to the device manager to check if it is connected properly.

For the drivers, I would recommend you remove all old drivers and install these. If you don't know how to install them, or are having issues, look here.

I had a similar issue with regard to my PC recognizing the drivers. I googled around and found that people were having success with installing the PdaNet drivers, so maybe you can try that too. I had installed the Android SDK as well as the PdaNet drivers, and I eventually got mine to work.
I would probably follow Efrant's links first though - if that doesn't work for you, then maybe you can try PdaNet drivers and/or installing the SDK.
Good luck.
Why not just do a factory reset from within recovery?

the factory reset didn't help, the phone just wouldn't go past the black lockscreen. So in the end I used the galaxy nexus toolkit. installed the drivers for the PC, was able to go through fastboot and push files and flash a new rom.
Al is now solved, just need to do a lot of work to bring the phone back to where it was and make a backup asap.
thansk all for the help!

Good to hear you got it.
Hey guys,
Now, my Galaxy Note 2 was rooted. When I connected it with the USB cable to my PC the PC didn't recognize it (it used too, but then suddenly it stopped connecting). It still charges but no new device is detected. No Kies, no MTP, no Odin.
I didn't worry too much, because being rooted I could still do everything using the external sd card.
However then the ROM for Android 4.3 was leaked I stupidly installed the stock version. So, no root, and no capability to mess around with the phone.. I also have no viewable option in Settings to set the device connection to MTP, or PTP mode as usual, but maybe that's because of Android 4.3
I have bought a new USB flex part, opened it and replaced it but it still didn't work.
I download a version of phoneutils.apk and installed (because the one on Android 4.3 didn't have Qualcomm USB settings option) and choose the correct options, but still nothing.
Do you have any idea what may have gone wrong? Or what I can try to do?
I desperately want to root the thing.
Thank you very much! I appreciate any suggestion and reply.
Hi!
This might sound stupid but... have you tried a different USB cable? Or USB port? Sometimes this can solve these kind of issues. Take a look in your computer's Device Manager and see if you have any problems with the USB hub driver. Also try to connect using a different PC and see if that works.
You can try and boot in Download mode (Vol down + Home + Power) and see if ODIN sees the phone. If so, you can flash another stock firmware and see if your USB works then.
Yea tried all that! No success. /:
Phone goes into download mode but Odin does not recognize it..

I have an HTC One M8 by T-Mobile, running the latest firmware, unlocked, rooted and on Android 5.0 Lollipop with the stock recovery. (I put the stock recovery back on because I had no need for the custom at the time and charging would bring me through the recovery and be real annoying).
I had no problem doing all of this but now (a few weeks later) I need to get the custom recovery back on in order to flash a new ROM.
Problem is, I'm connecting my phone to my computer and I can't get ADB to connect, HTC Sync Manager shows there's no device connected and windows explorer only shows a new CD Drive connected and mounted on (F that doesn't work and does not act as a storage platform for my phone.
What I have tried:
Disabling USB Debugging
Restarting Phone
Re-enabling USB Debugging
Un-installing HTC Sync Manager
Force installing "androidusb.INF"
uninstalling HTC Sync Manager, unplugging phone, disabling usb debugging, turning off phone and then going back through again, installing, plugging in turning on and enabling.
Really puzzled here, need to connect to ADB to flash custom recovery to go back to my stock ROM.
Try using the generic Android MTP drivers in Device manager. Of course you could also check all the basics as well.
Try a different port or a different cable. Try to kill the adb server and restart it. Can also try revoking the USB permissions and accepting again when prompted on the device.
Though you don't really need adb to flash the recovery, it needs to work in Fastboot mode. ADB will only work in a running OS or in a recovery, fastboot of course from fastboot mode, which is what you'll need in order to flash the recovery. You won't need USB debugging enabled for it either.
Try some of the stuff above, especially if maybe it's a cable or port issue.
I realize you may find a solution before even considering the option below ⬇

If you have an extra rooted device and get the cable coming you will never have to worry about troubleshooting drivers again considering after an ruu or a conversion you will go through the possible issues of drivers more than once
I've changed my CID,MID,flashed recovery with this method.
Being S-OFF I've not needed to try an ruu through ruu mode but would guarantee it will do the job
my oneplus 3 does not connect to my pc. I have tried turning on and off developer options, turn off and on oem unlocking and usb debugging. I change the usb connection to mtp from charging but does not change. Also does not recognize it when i connect to pc. Also does not pop up on status bar and i checked portable devices. I also tried installing the oneplus drivers. i am on Android 7.0 freedomos-2.5. Any way to fix this issue? i might try to update freedomos because im on a old version of it.:crying:
Windows? If, yes windows drivers are the problem.
Try to other pc, to see if it works., first.

I have tried it on both my PC and laptop with both windows 10. Does not work. My PC also has windows 7 still seems to not work. Are there any other drivers i might be missing?
i have also done some research that you should update your drivers from device manager. I dont see anything related to my device. i went to portable devices nothing and i dont have a other devices section in device manager. Any help?
What recovery?
Try to flash latest twrp. I use blu-spark by eng-stk. You can fla**** thru recovery or Flashify app.

i am on the latest twrp. will blu-spark help fix it?
ive also found out theres no kedcom driver when i go to fastboot. i even reinstalled adb drivers to insure its there but it does not pop up.
You'll need to remove drivers reboot, install correct drivers, reboot and then be nice to everyone you ever meet and it'll show up. It's a real pain but you can get there. XDA tutorial all the way there!
I once have kind of youre problem connecting to my laptop (win.10). But, at work, on that laptop, connection was ok (win.7).
I reinstal windows 10 and connection works fine, since.
I allways use latest TWRP & version of rom. I can't tell for sure what it's goin on with youre phone.
If i was in youre situation i format my phone (this will erase ALL in youre phone). And if PC still does not see the phone reinstall windows.
Also: Try a different cable.
A cheap cable could have a charging pin layout but lack data pins connections.
9 out of 10 issues with connecting to PC and getting odd behaviours is due to a bad/wrong cable.

What are the driver links if you have? I already installed the OnePlus drivers.

Driver issues win 10
Find the excellent tutorial here on drivers.
For some reason my phone didn't show up but was able to receive commands. It was frustrating because I wanted to use the all in one XDA product but couldn't.
Even if you installed drivers they can be broken!
Do drivers from scratch per xda tutorial. Don't forget reboot!
Try different cables and usb ports! My front ones never seem to work!
Don't just try fastboot commands also try adb. Like I said mine wasn't seen properly yet it took the commands.
Unless your windows is a years old install it shouldn't require reinstall.
Factory phone reset might help.
Best of luck!
I'm running Windows 10 and I have USB 3.0 ports. I've uninstalled HTC Sync Manager and retained the drivers for this phone. When I connect my phone to my computer while running Android 6.0, I stay connected. When I connect my phone while I'm in download mode, my phone keeps connecting, disconnecting, and reconnecting continuously. Is this behavior normal? I'm afraid to flash anything at this point. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
It's not normal, did you tried another usb cable?
You have only USB 3.0 ports? For flashing phones is recommended USB 2.0
Sounds like a driver issue to me. Try it on another machine if you can, so we can check that.
Uninstall drivers and connect the phone while already in download mode.
Failing that you can try a vmware of an older os like 7 or vista..

Backwards compatible..
try booting to download mode then connect and flash RUU. make sure htc sync is closed in the background
Thank you all for your replies. I'll try all the suggested changes and let whomever know if any of those work.
Edit: Sorry for taking so long to respond. I just uninstalled and then reinstalled everything. Strange, but all is well that ends well. Thanks again for the help everyone.
