HTC Desire 510 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright I installed a root checker and it said my phone was rooted but when I try and use Supersu out superuser. I get an error saying that the su binary can't be updated. Does anyone know what could be the issue?

SU binary

Hi,
hope someone can help me, because untill now it was not complete clear for me.
I just got Root access on my htc one X (at least this should be the case)
But in order to test this, i want to try some different ROM.
But to use anything regarding different ROMs i need SUPERUSER and most important SU BINARY
I can install superuser without problems.
my question: WHERE CAN I FIND A CORRECT VERSION OF SU BINARY, AND WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS?
Because now he is still asking for SU binary which he can not find in the system!!!

Actually, you did not get root access yet. You need to install the su command as part of rooting the device.
I suggest you try again. Find good instructions on how to root your device, and follow them.
When you find a method that works, it will install the su command and the Superuser app, and set permissions on the su command.
This is usually done automatically by a program running on a PC, connected to the debug port of the Android device with a USB cable.
Then you can test it with an app such as Root Checker, which you can find in the Play store (free).
If I'm not mistaken custom roms come with superuser already installed, so all you need to do is unlock your bootloader at htcdev, install custom recovery then pick a Rom to flash (not forgetting to flash the boot.img through fastboot before installing the Rom through recovery.)
To update binaries just open the superuser app and it should tell you if the su binary needs updating

[Q] Pushed Superuser.zip but not rooted...

I was lucky enough to unlock my bootloader before Verizon dropped the hammer on that. I pushed TWRP and downloaded Superuser 3.2 RC3. TWRP works fine so I installed superuser.zip, I now have superuser in my app drawer but root checker is telling me that i'm not rooted. Could someone tell me what I did wrong?

I installed the wrong superuser.zip file, I just did it again with the correct one and everything is fine.

Not sure if I am rooted

Hey Guys,
I rooted my phone ages ago, but then I reset it also ages ago.
I still have SuperSU but I'm not sure if I am rooted.
I downloaded the app root checker and it said that I am not properly rooted.
Please advise.

Try to update su binary from inside SuperSU app. Else, try to update SuperSU app from playstore. Lastly, if none of the above work, reboot to your custom recovery (flash one if you need to), push SuperSU zip by Chainfire provided here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053), install that zip, reboot. Root is achieved again.

[Q] SuperSU/Root Problems

I'm not exactly new to the rooting scene nut lets just say i'm not that expert at it.
THe problem im now getting is on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2(Sgh-1317m) i had it rooted when i was on DN3 but then i wished to update
to 4.4.2, my root was gone. When I tried to re-root it via CF-Auto Root it flashes successfully no probs. But when i open SuperSU it says no SU binary installed and im not able to access root. Is there any way to get root successfully on 4.4.2 or do i have to get back to DN3.
Get back to me ASAP. :good:

Special Thanks To Chainfire who made rooting so damn easy!

This is my first post to XDA. I'm brand new to rooting though reasonably competent technically. Wanted to root for access to root-only apps, but wanted to wait for 4.4 in case I ended up unable to receive future updates. 4.4.2 OTA came in yesterday so I tried flashing. Used Odin to install TWRP recovery then used TWRP to load TeamEpic Root From Recovery. When done, root apps said I was not rooted. Loaded SuperSU and it said SU binary was missing and I should reroot. Found CF-Autoroot and loaded it through ODIN. Red-logo thing appeared and system recovered but apps still said no root. Loaded "Root Checker Basic" from play store and it confirmed still no root. Tried to run SuperSU but found it to be missing. Reloaded SuperSU from Play Store. As SuperSU was finishing installing, popup message said something about Root Checker wanting access. I said "grant" and then found that Boot Checker verified root access. So I'm on my way.:victory:
Suggestion to xtrmewhacker: remove SuperSU and reinstall from Play Store.
SuperSU couldn't install the latest binary? I did the same as you, install 4.4 stock, flash cf-auto root, installed supersu from play store.
Supersu then installed via normal (not twrp), disabled knox, and rebooted. Everything was fine after.

I'm having an issue on 4.4 where supersu just keeps crashing and I can't even open it. I've tried everything. At one point it opened and started to work but after I reset my phone its back to saying "unfortunately, supersu has stopped working"

I got the same thing with cf-autoroot. I went in to philz touch and applied root there. Reboot and you should be able to dl from the market or do like I did and flash the zip version.

[Q] Which SuperSU and Root Checker is right

Samsung Galaxy Tab3 SM-T210R
I have been through pure hell trying to root this thing, every time I install TWRP or CWM, I reboot and verify root and check SuperSU. Device is not properly rooted and SU says no binary is installed. Then another Root checker app says congrats on gaining root access and SU is installed and busybox is installed. Please tell me whats right. Thanks
