No space in ROM. M8 GPE. - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys i converted my m8 for the second time but now i rooted it. i flashed the sense camera mod and it didn't appeared after reboot, only gallery, but i could install the camera from play store normally, not possible before installing the mod, and a lot of other htc apps were available too, but it was installed as user app. i went to titanium backup and tried to convert to system app and titanium said that no space was available in ROM. and i tried to install adaway and it says no space available too, it suggests to use data/data and create a link to system. So GPE rom have system partition locked even with root? i also tried to install xposed for 5.1 and stuck in bootscreen, maybe because of this problem. do you guys know what is this? thanks.

It's not locked. Your system partition is too small when running GPE firmware. The Sense /system is 2.8gb, with GPE it is just over 1gb.

[Q] Android Market doesnt' work

hi, im new to rooting. i've just rooted my desire with cyanogenmod 7, and the android market doesn't seem to work? i can't download google map or any other apps from it. any help? thanks alot.
any help? thanks
i guess you tried rebooting? that worked the last time I had problems with cyanogenmod, that being said i don't use it daily so I'm no expert
yup, i tried rebooting but it didn't work too..
Try wiping the cache, if that doesn't work, do a factory reset and wipe everything, do a fresh install and put gapps on.
does that mean i have to flash it back to stock rom and start all over again?
Have you tried to flash the G-apps again? Here's the link of the newest one: Google apps choose the CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread) version and flash it with Rom Manager or Recovery.
have you modified the .zip file , deleting some files for exemple?
I done it, and removed "Package Installer.apk" one time, so downloads were beginning but stopped each time immediately
Market download issues
I'm having similar issues using GingerVillain 1.9. Small market updates are downloading without issue, larger ones such as the latest Google Maps update are giving the message "download unsuccessful". I had similar issues when the market was updated from the old style, and wonder whether google are tinkering in the background.

i don't think i've removed any of those files..
I am having similar problems. I have installed the gapps, but it only installs a couple of google apps. When I try to install from the market some install fine but others (angry birds for example) don't. I see the downloading icon for split second then it goes away and the download stops.
Any ideas?

Need some help installing mounts2sd

guys i want to install vjs 4.1.2 ROM, i was having issues when i removed the battery all the apps got corrupted and all, i was using a2sd from the ROM itself. i read here around that if i use mounts2sd it would be better in terms of battery removal if not, it is still safe and won't corrupt apps... i want to know how to install this? should i install the ROM and then install this normally like an apk or what? thanks

You could install mounts2sd from recovery (Use the aroma zip version) and set it up from there.

Can I dual boot, with seperate Data partitions?

I was wondering if there was anyway I could dual boot my Nexus 7 and have both installs totally independent of each other?
I want to keep my device rooted, but I want to use Sky Go as well, and Sky Go doesn't play nice with root.
I would like to have one partition rooted with a custom rom, and another partition that is completely stock, stock ROM, kernel etc.
And I would also like to have the apps installed totally independent of each other so that my stock partition can't see any superuser stuff that I have installed in my custom partition.
I hope this makes sense? Is this possible?
Cheers
Stewart
Hypothetically you might be able to do like CM already does on the touchpad, they have virtual partitions to store all the android stuff since they dont want to remove/modify the underlying webos partitions.
At the very minimum you would need a rom that is modified to take advantage of running from a different location.
You would also need some way to select which one to boot at start.
Some dual boot solutions cheat by using recovery to boot the other rom, since there's no major differences beyond the fact it doesnt boot by default
You want MultiROM. The first ROM would have to be rooted, but the secondary can be completely stock and unrooted.
There is a module for the xposed framework which are able to hide root for selected apps.

root , Injector(Init.d) and Mounts2SD - stock

hello everyone
so i just got my new HTC desire 816 dual sim ( after an old desire 816 which has factory issues ) . with the old device i installed CM11 the unofficial 4.4.4 and installed mount2sd and everything was good
now i got the new device and i'm a bit scared of installing a new rom , so i'm thinking of rooting , adding the injection support then installing mount2sd but i'm not sure about the compatibility of all this mix with the stock
so here what i'm going to do and i need your opinions
1- root the device => guide followed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2775801
i don't know what the wp_mod.ko module do so any tips would be great
2- installing Injector to enable injecting the init.d support http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256647
my device is not on the list so i'm a little bit scared :/
3- installing mount2sd https://github.com/SpazeDog/mounts2sd which i used before with CM11 and was fine
OR
A friend suggested that i install the new CM11 official and then install the mount2sd and done ??
ps* i'm using a lot of apps and i like installing everything so basically i need A LOT of storage for apps and their data and obviously the stock only gives 3GB which is nothing
ps* i kinda like the stock so anything other solutions with the stock would be perfect

The wp_mod.ko file is so that you can enable writing to the SD in the system on stock.
This is basically what allows mount2SD and link2SD to work and init.d support might be needed for both as well so pair that file with your injector and your good to go.
I personally am able to download and put any files I want to the SD thanks to the wp_mod.ko alone. Having init support will allow it to just run scripts on startup and in combination with the wp file it will allow scripts involving the SD card.

I have a feeling that you've hit on a solution to a similar issue that I'm having. At least, we seem to share the same thought process regarding the problem though I'm more on the Link2SD camp.
Make a NANDROID backup, try it, cross your fingers and give it a go. :good:

Only the apps and data that would normally move to an external card. What I can't move are the apps that Titanium Backup would force to external card. The easiest option would be to partition the external card with an ext partition and then use an app like Link2SD to mount it. To do that though, without S-OFF, requires that the OP work.
Even though I'm rooted, I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to be able to safely*recover if anything goes wrong. ?

There is no S-OFF for our device, and if there was you wouldn't get it by flashing CM11 lol.

You can't! There is no way to S-OFF our device. You are stuck with S-ON. That's it. Unlocking the bootloader, flashing a recovery, and a custom ROM. Those all have nothing to do with S-OFF. Our phone simply doesn't have S-OFF.

Your screenshot shows you trying to install the Xposed Framework, not Mount2SD. Also, the screenshot shows (and the original topic clearly states) that if you're S-ON, you can't install Xposed Framework whilst booted. It is offering you to install through Recovery. If you click OK, the app will automatically boot into recovery and install Xposed Framework. If you had followed the guide about installing Xposed Installer, you would have seen to change the install option from Classic Write to Recovery. You would then bypass the message in your screenshot and gone straight to the install through recovery.
You must be rooted and have a working busybox and recovery installed for Xposed Framework to install/work.
Also, Xposed Framework will not make any bit of difference to Mount2SD or any apps like that. They will still not work. However, Xposed Framework does have some great modules that tweak a phone.

Not Enough Space for Gapps. Htc one m9, Lineage 15.1, Mindthegapps 8.1.0 arm64, twrp-3.5.2_9-0-hima.

Hello,
Everytime i try to flash the Gapps i get this error in TWRP.
Also at advanced wipe - system i got Size 4339mb, Free 3357mb.
Mindthegapps size = 106mb, So i have more then enough space so whats going on?
Hopefully someone could help me out.
My guess is that you forgot to directly flash GApps right after LOS, instead you re-booted phone again into TWRP: hence the error.

No i did it directly after, strangely i downloaded the open_gapps-arm64-8.1-pico-20210619 with almost the exact same size and it worked without any problems. I'm now running lineage-15.1-20180613.
Everything is working except there is no Weather Provider. Do you know how do add one?

What you are talking about should be the device storage. You won't have 43 GB in system partition. It is the availability of system partition space that is important. Most of the apps in Gapps install as system apps. So system partition size is important.
I see that you have now solved the problem. Any other apps forming part of Gapps or otherwise will install outside the system partition if you download and install from Play Store. So system partition size is not important now. Try any weather provider you want from Play Store. You can install it.
EDIT: You can install apks also from outside Play Store and they won't install in system partition.

No i was talking about the system partition size. All other gapps are working so probably there was something wrong with the file.
I saw this video on youtube running a custom aicp rom with Sense ui. Do you know how te get Sense ui working on a custom rom? Do i have to flash a custom file for this to work?
youtube
I flashed the latest Aicp 16.1 rom for the Htc one M9 which is running Android 11. Also with mindthegapps 11.0.0arm64.

Sorry, obviously my mind was elsewhere when I replied to you. Saying 43 GB instead of 4.3 GB.
And I have no idea about Sense UI.

He's flashing the sense ui in TWRP. Is it possible to flash a custom ui after you flashed a custom running and booted it? Or do i have to wipe everything and reflash?

Sorry, I don't have this device and each one behaves differently.
I will move this thread to the HTC One M9 Q&A forum where you may get better help.
