Good Day,
Phone:
Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML (ASUS_Z00AD) - 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage. (Not Rooted)
Kernel Version: 3.10.20-x86_64_moor_265182-gb0fff5c
Build Number: LRX21V.WW-ASUS-Z00A-2.13.40.13_20150401_8390_user
Problem:
My brother couldn't update an application in Google Play Store. He tried to restart the phone through Hold Power Button -> Restart but the phone does not turn-on anymore
Methods Tried:
1. Hold the power button around ten seconds. The phone slightly vibrates but still does not turn on.
2. Hold the Volume Up + power button for ten seconds. The phone slightly vibrates but still does not turn on.
3. Charge the phone using provided Asus charger and try to turn the phone on. Still, the phone slightly vibrates but still does not turn on.
4. Tried charging the phone for around 30mins and the phone gets warm. Tried turning the phone on but still, same results.
Please help advise for solutions or possible fixes. Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ed

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the bundled AC power adapter and micro-USB cable is used for charging. The AC power adapter output is 5.2V and 1.35A. Also tried to charge the phone for a few hours but still, the same problem is encountered.
Does the LED indicator light up when charging? Have you tried charging while being connected to a PC? (this will take longer to charge)

Sorry for the late reply, sir. Many thanks for the prompt responses. As advised by my brother, he tried charging it again using the AC charger for more than two hours and turned the phone on. Good news that the phone booted properly.
It seems that the problem is really about a drained battery. This issue can now be closed.
Thank you very much.

Hi Sir, I have tried it. But it is still not going into recovery mode. And when to connecting to charger the dead android symbol is getting popped up and the mobile is heating heated without switching on.

Hi Sir, yur reply is very much necessary as i am stuck with the dead symbol even after battery getting drained and recharged as well.
Hi Sir santhosh_kv,
My brother's phone couldn't be switched on before and we just sent the phone to the service center. After a month or two, they replaced the unit with a new one. I think my brother got a lemon unit before.
Thank you.

Maybe there's something wrong with the system. Try flash stock rom using adb sideload. While in that dead android symbol, press power+vol up to go to recovery.

Hi Sir, I have tried the procedure u said. But nothing seems to be working. Please help me with this. I have installed the ABD divers and updated it. But its not working after re-switching on.
After using the phone until the battery was completely drained, I tried to charge it. Initially the indicator showed orange (suggesting it was charging), but after attempting to turn the phone on, it vibrated once or twice and the indicator stopped glowing. The phone has since failed to turn on at all, and connecting the charger no longer shows any sign of charging (ie. no orange indicator or on-screen battery icon).
Has anyone eno****ered this issue, or know of a way to fix it? Let me know if I can provide any more information, and thanks

I got a Xperia S here from a friend, he says that the screen suddenly turned off when he was using it. But the notification bar was on!
So he gave me the phone, because I want to fix it.
If I plug in the charger, no reaction.
Soft-Reset - No Reaction.
Hard-Reset - No Reaction (No Vibrates)
Trying connect to fastboot mode / flash mode. No Success.
My last chance is to remove the battery for 5 min and then look if the battery will charge or not.
The bootloader is unlocked and there was OpenSEMC beta 2 installed.
Is this a Hardware bricked phone, or a software issue with empty battery?

this sounds like a softbrick, there are lots of threads on fixing such issues, i seem to remember 1 problem was switching off auto lighting and bang the screen goes blank, holding the power and vol up/down for about 15 seconds makes a hard reboot 3 vibes, then plug in via usb and restart with flash tool running might work. there are lots of different help threads that will guide you through this. dont give up.
But Hardreset doesn't work. I already tried it.

Thank but I read already this thread.
I can't remove the battery right now, so I asked you guys if this issue is a Software issue or Hardware issue.
If I can remove battery I will test everything I can and then I'll report.

i think it's hardware issue. cause for it to be software issue it must at least show red led when plugged into the charger.
bring it to service center is a wise choice. but u can try different charger (with bigger amperage output is preferable), and what happen when u plugged it to PC? did the led color shows up?
If I connect to my PC nothing happens.
No Fastboot Mode no Flashmode possible.
I remove the battery the following days, cause I don't have a torx 6 to remove the screws. Must buy one.
Removed Battery and insert it back again. Now trying to charge but no reaction.
If you plug-in a Real charger(Not pc usb), what happen?
Sometimes when the battery is full empty, you have to keep it charges about 15-20 minytes without powering on

Put it in the real Charger, and charged 30 minutes.
But still no reaction. I guess it's a fullbricked Phone now.
Hello all, I am in need of some help. I recently bought a Zenfone 2 (ZE551ML) and haven't had a chance to get service on it until what would've been today. This is the reason why I can't:
last night I had it connected to my PC doing some data transfers and things, until my PC said it was disconnected. I wasn't all too worried about it because I was done and was actually ready to unplug it. Before I reached for the phone, it started to vibrate in a weird pattern. I grabbed it almost as soon as it had finished vibrating, and then to my realization it, it wouldn't turn on.
Here's what I've done since then:
1. I immediately tried to turn it on
2. I plugged it back up to my PC, no connection
3. I plugged it up to the ASUS AC Charger and let it charge to see if it would come on that way (Nothing, didn't start up, no LED Light, nada)
4. Left it charging overnight
5. Tried to turn it on this morning, nothing.
6. Waited a few hours after unplugging from AC charger and still nothing.
Please help me :crying: What should I do?
Long-press power button for 5 seconds and wait for 2x vibrations?
I imagine you did that, but I figured I'd ask how you're trying to turn it on.
Does it give any response at all? Holding the power button?
Recommend to test with a different USB cable or adapter.
Sincerely,
ASUS_USA

Same here, the thing was i charged it with an aukey backup batery.
nothing is working so i think it's dead
This happen to a lot zenfone 2 users
Apparently i got the same issue, when i connect to PC to do some transfer files, the phone suddenly dead (because sudden disconnect (happens a lot with loose USB port), cant turn on and cant charge, hard restart (recovery) also not working. Other phone works fine when suddenly disconnected, this only happen to ASUS Zenfone 2. And btw the phone and cables i use is original from ASUS.
Please fix this issue ASUS, this is very serious problem, seriously the phone is dead by doing sudden disconnect. Im not a tech so i dont know what is really happening, is it software or hardware problem.
I checked other forums, theres many report about this, fix it fast please.

I also have the same issue.
Has someone been able to fix it? Is it a loose port, problem with the motherboard, or a problem with the battery itself?
I have the same issue... But my phone got wet before I had the issue. Has that happened to anyone else with the issue?
Here a Solution I discover

Hi guys, i had the same issue with my ASUS zenfone twice! The first time the repair center took a look at it, they saw a loose connection inside the unit, they just faastened it then it turned on. After 2 weeks, the same thing happened again, then i returned to the repair center. This time, they said that they found out that the battery software was corrupted (factory fault), they changed the battery software and they got the phone running again. It's been a week since I had my phone working and hopefully this issue will not happen again.
Guys!!! Try this, hold down power button until it reboot two or three times, to be exact until the reboot screen goes blue then let go the power button. yea, weirdly i did it that way and i got my phone working again
How much did it cost?
I had purchased 2 ZenFone 2, 1 for me and my wife on 5/11/2015.
Well my wife's Zen2 wouldn't turn on and it had a full charge 3 days ago.
I've tired a hard reset connected to a different usb cable and also charger, messed with it for 2 days and NADA it was DEAD......
She doesn't use the phone much maybe 1 gb of data for the month and under 100 mins and she hates to text..
But I did get the extended warranty from Newegg for $25 per phone and they will email you a gift card for the same price of what I paid for the phone.
As soon as the Tracking info hit UPS the gift card came in my email within 36 hours and I ordered her The ZenFone 2 Laser which should be here Tomorrow hopefully she will be happy with it.
Same problem here. I plugged my zenphone 2 on my pc to transfer files. It vibrate and turns off. Tried to replugged it to my pc but does not work. I also use different usb cable and adapter but still it wont open nor charge. Is there anyway my phone be restored? I've tried the hard reset but to no avail. Please help.
Suddenly my second 2 laser ze551ml gets vibrated and switch off and now not getting switch on battery is 85% pls help me out i m in big problem.

Hey there. I am new to XDA.
My tablet last night was just fine! Everything was working perfectly and i played a few games before i went to sleep. Anyhow, Today afternoon i trying to wake up the screen of my tablet and it doesn't even turn on the screen! I put it in to charge but nothing happens. The only thing that happens is that is getting warm at the back because of charging.
So overall, last night was working, today is not even turn on.
p.s: Few weeks back i try to root my tablet and i didn't make it. I had the problem "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" But i managed to recover to fully factory settings all over again.
Thanks
Try this tool:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...&_nkw=usb+current+and+voltage+tester&_sacat=0
Make sure the current should be ~ 1,7 Amps, voltage should be ~ 5.2 Volts.
There are many unknowns: bad charger or bad USB cable or bad USB charging port.
You should use another known working USB cable or charger to test. Another micro USB cable can be used to charge or 5 Volts to 5.3 Volts charger.
If you tablet is charging, press the HOME button it should show a green battery icon.
The problem is not with the charger, its with the software I guess

I tried the power, home, down thing also the power, home,up nothing happens. As i told when i try to charge the tablet the back of the tablet was getting warmer, a sign that says its charging. BUT the screen does not open with the battery on it.. Basically it doesn't turn on at all.
Tried that
Also tried that too.. But i think the voltage its alright i think and also i use my 7 months old original charger that came with the tablet. So the chances are so few.

Another way if you cannot see anything, try of using HDMI adapter to connect to your TV. Signs of your tablet is running: vibration at start up, sounds of start screen or menu and back buttons light up. If you see these signs, probably the LCD cable is disconnected or loose. But how do you know your tablet is charging ? The charger or cable is working but the USB charging port doesn't work, you'll have a dead battery. There are too many unknowns you're even not sure, then others cannot guess what is wrong. First thing first, you need to know if your tablet is charging, then you will figure out what is next.
Nothing!

Hey there.. Thanks for the help!
I know that is charging because the back of the tablet is getting warmer when i charge it. Also no back keys or nothing is showing up. I tried everything. The only thing i didnt try is the HDMI thing. Plus the tablet is in full silence. no vibration or anything. i dont remember if the tablet was vibrating at the turn on. The only thing i got from the tablet since yesterday is nothing. not even a light of the screen or download mode or back light NOTHING so unexpectedly
Thanks!
When the tablet shows no sign of life, the only way to know first if the mainboard is working, is is taking charge ?
The back is warming cannot tell anything. If the battery is dead you cannot go troubleshooting further unless swapping another battery to see if the tablet can turn on. Even with a full charged battery, a defective power button could prevent the tablet turning on.
There are too many unknowns, that's why elimination method have to use to find the source of problem: software or hardware.
The USB current and voltage tester will help you without guessing the working status of your tablet. I have no clues, that's why I'm guessing too.
Not even a clue!

Long shot but try this. Unplug the charger. Hold the power button down for a full 20 seconds. Even if the tablet is in a "frozen" state, that should turn it off. Then try turning it on again.

Hey everyone,
So, I got a new Xperia XA1 Ultra (G3223) through a trade running stock Android 7.0. Checked everything and initially it looked fine.
Over the last few days, things have been acting weird. Every time I start the device, it gives me a blank (black) screen with a blinking white notification light - it doesn't even show me the boot screen at times when it boots. Just yesterday, I got it to boot by pressing VOLUME UP + POWER after being in that state - but, that's not normal. Does anyone know why in the world my phone does that?
Furthermore, when using the Sony charger that came with the device, it takes over 6 hours to charge and doesn't even show the charging sign while charging. Could this be an Android 7.0 bug or is something seriously wrong with my phone? Only one time since I got it, did I get it to charge normal with the charging sign and everything; it actually charged quite rapidly at that point.
Any help would be appreciated with this, guys, because I'm at a loss. I do want to mention that the device doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer, so I'm not even sure that the cable is original.

Try a new cable and/or charger. (I found I had a bad charger once)
Since you had computer issues, I'd start with the cable. Also check the charging port on the phone for debris/damage.

How is your phone turning on? Power button or inserting the USB cable?
Only thing I can think of is perhaps a stuck volume key placing the phone into recovery or flash mode.
Try turning on the phone with no USB cable attached. Before you turn it on, press the volume keys a few times to make sure they aren't stuck and then power on.

The thing is that it's weird.... For one, sometimes when I use the touch reset/turn off button, it takes at least two minutes to reset, or it doesn't even reset. Then, when I turn the phone on while it's off, the phone sometimes enters into this weird state with the flashing white notification light. I never power on the phone via USB cable, so I don't know, really. Yesterday, I shut the phone off to test it, plugged the phone in to charge it, it wouldn't charge while off, but then hit power on, and then it wouldn't turn on, so I used VOLUME UP + POWER, and then it turned on just fine.
Hi
Happened also to be with my older Xperia J.
Backup your phone (cause you'll lose your data), connect it to a PC (or Mac) and install Xperia companion, then select "repair phone" or something similar (I know the written in Italian version ).
Wait and it will be all fine.

Backup your phone (cause you'll lose your data), connect it to a PC (or Mac) and install Xperia companion, then select "repair phone" or something similar (I know the written in Italian version ).
Wait and it will be all fine.
Regards

Okay, let me see if I can get it to connect to the computer, and then I'll let you know if I have progress.
I have the same slow charging problem on my xperia xa1 ultra. you could solve it?
Device stuck in loop.. "Mi Logo" then battery icon.. this keeps repeating.
Friends,
My redmi note 5 pro was 50% battery and it suddenly turned off. After that when power connected no response. Connect via USB and Mi Logo appears first, then the battery icon with a flash symbol in middle. This repeats continuously. Some help, please ?
The phone is not rooted. Still in warranty period. No recent update. The last update was 1 month ago. No glitches after that.

Seems like your battery is dead, try charging it for some hours.
Any solution. I'm also having the same issue.

Woh.. its been a long time, though I am still using the same phone. ?
Try a hard reset first, if it doesn't help run to the service center. Don't worry about your data, service technician can easily recover it.
Back then My phone came into contact with sweat moisture and it fried few chips on the mother board.
Fluid damage is not covered under warranty, yet they gave me 50% discount. ?
All the data was restored afterwards and the phone still working fine.?
Hope you will find a solution soon. ?
Hey, it might be a bit late but i found a solution: i charged my phone for a few hours in fastboot mode (volume down + power button). Then turn it off and on again.

i had this problem yesterday, until today i had it 4 times, i always managed to restart it randomly, but today it remained in this loop, i can't even activate fastboot mode.
I attach the photo of the battery symbol that shows up when I try to turn it on and when I put it in charge, in loop
have you fix it?

Same issue here. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I was also facing the similar issue yesterday. Actually my phone fell down while charging after that it's started behaving like that and I kept on charging for 2 hours and tried to switch to fastboot mode still no luck and after that I left the phone idle for sometime witout charging and I gently pressed all the edges of my phone and tried fastboot mode and it's started working.
I know the solution which I gave looks silly but it's worked for me

remove the resistor in the battery and replace it with a thin wire, just jumper the two terminals
