Hello
I have a rooted samsung galaxy tab S / 8.4 with Kit Kat 4.4.2
I have read various similar posts regarding the same issues and have tried various ways to remove or rectifiy the error message that appears onscreen. 'Unfortunately context services has stopped'.
I have cleared the dalvik cache from within lucky patcher.
I have wiped the cache partition from within the recovery mode.
I have cleared the settings / storage / general / cached data and the actual context service app itself.
I have read other posts referring to renaming the context service apk, so it will not run, yet where is it located?.
Or have read that if you access the system/priv-app folder and replace the context service apk with another version of the same file.
Ive tried to access the system/priv-app folder via the root explorer program, but it deosnt find the folder.
Can anyone shed any light on why this error message appears and how to remedy it?
Thanks for reading
Came across these posts:
http://m.theinquirer.net/inquirer/n...ll-collect-user-data-to-share-with-developers
It seems that the context services collect user personal data and feeds it back to samsung or developers.
So it may be good that this context service is stopped after all?
Also this one mentioning to freeze the context services through Titanium back up.

Conclusion as to the reason why the error message is present.
I wiped the cache from inside recovery mode and then a factory reset.
Reflashed stock 4.4.2 rom and re-rooted.
Set the phone up with apps I like and use etc and all was well.
However the minute I installed Xposed installer & activated it and rebooted the device, the error message reappears!!
Hope this helps anyone else out.

I am running the latest CM nightly. The system states that I am out of memory. When I go into Settings > Storage and refresh, it shows several GB available. I can't install any more apps. I deleted all of the apps I know longer use. I had about 600 pictures in my gallery. Since I sync with Dropbox and Google+, I deleted all of those as well. I changed my email retention from 7 days to 3. I cleared the app data of all apps.
Still getting this strange problem. I looked and there were a ton of strange log files in /data/system. They were RS_01.log, RS_02.log, etc, all the way to RS_90.log. Each log file was about 910 bytes. I deleted all of them in root explorer and rebooted. Same problem.
I can factory reset and reinstall CM, but want to see if there is a fix first. Found online people saying to dial *#9900# and deleting a log file, but dialing that number does not open a menu. Might be due to the fact that I have a later bootloader (M2), or that I am running CM.
Ideas?
Give lucky patcher a try. There's an option to odex system files which frees up int storage

I can't install any apps. Android is throwing an error, not enough system space to install whenever I try to install anything. This has to be some sort of runaway log. I found references to dumpstate logs causing this problem, but they are all in /data/log. I don't have that directory on CM11. Not sure where to look.
I found solution..
Go into your time tool box and set apps to sd to auto. having it set on ext sd messed ours up too. Easy fix for us. Hope it helps.
Dear All,
This is my desperate attempt after days of googled with a dead end.
Recently, out of nothing i have encountered a major error after years. It all of sudden. Bombarded with "google play service is stopped" then decide to reboot then never up again with "acore stopped working'' on the very first screen after samsung logo where you have unlock the screen.
I did wipe data/factory reset. All good. reinstalled all essentials. SuperSU and Rootchecker report im still rooted. Then noticed LINE app (by Naver) has a bizarre behavior. All image related operations is not working with message "Cant use SD card, please confirm SD card settings"
All other chat messengers all working flawlessly (BBM, Whatsapp, you name it) but this one. To be detailed, affected operations are downloading stickers, themes, chat image attachments, chat photos wont came out, trigger camera, attach/send photo..
Submit a ticket to Naver but returned with they have no support for rooted device.
Device detail:
N7100 4.4.2 (rooted)
SuperSU / Knox disabled
modified platform.xml (extsdcard write access)
Failed Attempts:
- format ext SD card from inside, issue still exist
- install / reinstall LINE app, issue still exist
any kind of idea/helps would greatly appreciated as most of my contacts and communication are mainly using this app. I hope you guys have knowledge to be shared for pinpoint the issue based on the error message above. I believe the solution can be a great value as there are currently none in the net.
Thanks
try to apply kitkat sdcard fix
click
I have the Xperia Z3 running on Lollipop.
Same issue, all apps such as whatsapp, fb, etc can access the SD card except for line.
The error message when trying to send a photo to someone in Line is "Can't use SD card. Please confirm SD card settings"
Reinstalled the app several times, unmounted and remounted the SD card, even moved the app to the SD card with the app itself still working fine. But still cannot send or receive photos or download stickers.
Also applied the suggested that sd card fix even though it wasn't really needed since all other apps can access the SD card just fine..anways it didn't help.
Any other ideas?
Oh yeah, even tried installing a Line version which was 6 months old - didn't help either.

I have the exact same issue after a full wipe and re-flashed custom ROM. The naver LINE app have the same issue as mentioned above. All other apps functions normal. Anyone found a solution to this yet?
HTC One M7
Vipeone sense-based ROM 9.0.0.
Hi. I've encountered a similar problem recently. The interesting thing is that my telephone does not have SD card at all. So my first thought was that the problem is in permissions or cache.
I checked the permissions - app had full access.
Then I cleared programm cache on my phone. both inner memory cache and telephone memory cache (at least that's what they are called in my native language)
After that I tried to upload the image, yet it gave another error. something like: "cannot perform the action now, try again later"
I was quite short on the inner memory on my phone (around 70 MBs free), and thought it can be the problem. I deleted the biggest app and was able to upload the screenshots again.
Probably worth mentioning: I did not reinstall the Line app.
My device:
Telephone called ImSmart C471. China at it's best. Assembled in Ukraine though, company called Impression.
Android 4.4.2
In the latest build, Line apk cant send photo from internal/sdcard..it said line cant use sdcard..?
i had the same problem when i moved to new phone ( Xiaomi Mi4 ). I solved that. Just find the application permission setting in application manager. Try to find permission to stroarge. Change the permission to allow. That's it. That worked for me.
where's the settings?

I can't find any setting for permission to storage from the application manager, is there any? did I overlooked?
Try updating the app in play store. I had the same issue but solved with the updated version.
I had the smale problem. I deleted some pictures and videos and then restarted the phone. Works like magic
Here is my issue I cannot create folders or delete anything on the internal sdcard.
Background info: I just got this gs3 its on boost mobile. I am on NJ3 I used CF-auto-root method to get root. Everything went fine updated Supersu installed a bunch of apps including Titanium Backup and made backups of all apps on the phone. Everything finished fine. I have not deleted any apps yet nor have I installed a custom record very or any ROMs its still!l stock. I have a 64gb sdcard installed which is new and empty so I wanted to put my backups on it but could not. While looking for a fix I noticed that even the default INTERNAL sdcard had a red folder on top with "cannot write to this location" . so now I cannot use TB. It gives an "insufficient storage" message and fails
I then went to ES File Explorer and tried to make a folder on the internal card and could not, also tried to delete and could not !! I have Googled this problem and come up with a number of solutions but most are very old threads. Can anyone give me some help fixing this? The phone seems to otherwise work but I fear it will only get worse with time.
edit I can install apps though even now.
Oh I left out that I did recieve an update for Security policy update. Which I understand has something to do with SElinux. I also found a fix for what appears to be my problem related to this it is;
SU
restorecon -FR /data/media/0
I decided to try it but get a message that -F is invalid
syntax is restorecon (--nRrv-- )
From what I can google the version of restorecon I have on my phone does not include that switch!!! Just my luck, can anyone help me figure out if I can change the binary to an updated one so I can use this?
Well I am disappointed 45 views and not one reply, oh well.
I eventually bit the bullet and did a factory reset from the settings menu, it cleared up the issue and I still had root!! Google reinstalled all my apps and SuperSu disabled Knox for me. I also unchecked auto update for security updates so that Samsung does not send another one to me without my knowledge. also disabled autoupdate for Samsung apps.
know everything is golden again.
To start, I have an L710T from Boost. Stock rom, 4.4.2, rooted, but that's all. No extra nifty stuffs.
This morning I woke up to an error that says "Couldn't download system update. Not enough space available to download." When I click on it, it says it needs 70.5MB. I have over 9 Gigs free on the phones internal SD. I did a little digging and found that the /system folder has 1.48GB used out of 1.56GB, which means there is only 81.92MB free on that partition. I'm guessing this is the cause of the error message. However, I don't have very many apps installed, and the apps in /system/app and /system/priv-app all appear to be pre-installed apps, except for superuser.apk. I cleared the cache on all of the apps holding a large amount of cache, but that didn't help.
I looked at what folders are holding the most data and /system/priv-app has 383MB, /system/app has 375MB, and /system/lib has 345MB. Those are the biggest, with the next being /system/framework with only 59MB. So I think I've located what the problem is, I just don't know what to do about it, or how it got that way. Any help is greatly appreciated.
The "couldn't download system update" issue
I have the same issue and since I'm rooted, I figured that was the likely real issue. I used the "full unroot" option in "SuperSU" to get back to being unrooted. After a hard reboot I tried the update again and it didn't f***ing work. Now I gotta retrace my steps to get root again, but wtf, this is ridiculous.
I've read this, if it helps other people:
For the unrooted, if space is an issue in downloading and unpackaging the update, clearing all caches (not data) and deleting photos/videos stored internally could help to free up space. I've read in other forums to clear the Dalvik cache and "logcat" (by entering *#9900# into the dialer) helps provide more internal memory, but I don't think that's what most people need to do (and I'm not even sure you can clear the Dalvik cache without root).
I fixed my problem just yesterday. First I freed up over 140MB of space on the system partition by deleting some OEM crud and by moving all the ringtones that I dont use over to the SD card. That wasn't enough though because I still got the error. Then I did a long press on the error notification, touch app info, brought me to Google Services or some such so I cleared all cache and data on that because it was using 40MB of data which is how much free space there was when I first got the error. After a reboot it did the update and succeeded, or so I presume because I wasn't watching it. But whatever, the annoying error message is gone.
This worked for me too, thank you so much for this simple fix!
HI
suddenly this afternoon, I don't know why, WhaptApp started to crashe every time I launch it. I tried to delete data, uninstall and install it again, but whatsapp still crash at start up. It is impossible to use it. I got this error message :
android.database.sqlite.SQLiteCantOpenDatabaseException: Cannot open database '/data/user/0/com.whatsapp/databases/sync.db': Directory /data/user/0/com.whatsapp/databases doesn't exist
Of course, even with adb, under Android 12, it is impossible to create the directory under /data because of permission denied.
Do you have any idea ?
Thank you for your help.
Get that trashware off the device! Use browser login only if you must use it.
It is a high security risk.
I had already thought of this solution, but I need the app to log in....

I would ditch it then. It's a multiple vector security risk. I don't use it.
If you insist on using it... what events lead up to the crash? Was it or anything updated? Any apps installed or uninstalled? Any downloads done?
Delete all it's data then ininstall it and see what you got. Clear the system cache. Download the latest version from a trusted source only. Scan with online Virustotal (scan what's loaded now too). Install. If it still pukes on you there's no guarantee a factory reset will solve this.
Malware is also a possibility. At some point a factory reset is in order especially if there's other odd behaviors or system issues. If it's a virus or rootkit a factory reset would purge it on Android 9 or higher.
If you think there's a possibility of malware, factory reset. Change account passwords then. Limit the damage by acting promptly. I give myself 2 hours to erraticate malware, then it gets nuked if not completely resolved. You wouldn't be the first to get tagged with malware through WhatsApp. Especially dangerous is doing -any- downloads from there including jpegs and pngs.
Thank you very much for your help. Despite I use alternatives like Signal, I still need WhatsApp to stay in touch whith some groups. I already tried to delete data and cache of WhatApp without success. I removed the app and installed it again but problem remains.
The log said :
Directory /data/user/0/com.whatsapp/databases doesn't exist
so I would like to create it manually, but it seems that it is impossible because of security of Android 12. I can't access to /data.

I don't know. That's a curious problem. 12 is a terror as far as I'm concerned. That's one reason I still run N10+'s on 9 and 10. Maybe use adb or ladb to edit it?
Double check all the permissions. Are any packages disabled on the phone? A small system app that's been disabled can cause all kinds of mischief.
Something, be it WhatsApp, an update, malware, a single event upset, etc screwed up the user partition data it sounds like. There's no guarantee a factory reset will fix it and even if it does it could reoccur if you don't find the root cause.
Play with it and keep doing Google searches, eventually you'll track it down. Might take a while.
Once again, thank you for your help. In fact, I've just found a workaround by installing the app in the "Work profile" of the phone. So I guess that factory reset will solve the problem. I also succeed in using an app that use web whatapp interface from F-Droid.
Independently with this story, the fingerprint sensor of the phone stopped working few weeks ago. So i'am preparing a Samsung Galays S9 under /e/OS. I'm going to switch on it to perform a factory reset of the xiaomi and send it for reparation because it is still under guarantee.
If the S9 and /e/OS do the job, I will sell the Xiaomi.
