Try this.. drag down from the top once.. then tap on the blue person icon next to the settings button.
does it close the status bar and make it refuse to open until a reboot? Wondering if its my phone

What's the icon on upper left corner?
It seems that all my notification icons are not displayed on the status bar, but still in the pull-down menu.
And the sound notification seems also disabled.
Does anyone know how to disable/enable this option?
I can't remember how I did it.
Thanks

Pull down the notification pane. Scroll the top part with the buttons to your left. You'll see a "Notification" button. Make sure it's green (enabled) and it should go away. If not, another app may be controlling it but that's unlikely.

Thanks m3thods!!

There isn't a button for notification, but it should tell you what's "on going"

I could really use some help on this.. Tried 2 different 4.3 ROM's and it seems to be something within 4.3 I'm thinking. Anyway, When using Multiview and having both app's open at the same time, the notification bar hides. Is there anyway to prevent it from hiding? 4.1.2 doesn't have that problem and it's driving me insane trying to figure this out. If anybody has any ideas on what to try or knows the answer, please let me know.
Thanks all!

On mine, the status bar on top disappears when I have two apps running in multi-view.
However, if you move your finger downward at the top of the screen, the status line will appear.
Then you can open the status window completely with the usual downward swiping method.
I don't see any settings that lets you keep the status bar visible at all times while in multi-view.

Thanks. I'm looking for a way to keep it open while both apps are open. Is there maybe a build.prop entry I could try maybe?

So it looks like it goes straight into full screen mode when both apps are active. Is there a way to prevent full screen mode?

Hey,
When I let my phone to be inactive for few seconds - drop down menu from Home disappears. How to make it always "On" so I can see the clock, wireless icon etc.
Thanks!
What exactly do you mean by 'Drop down menu from home?'
Hey, thanks for replay.
Well the drop down menu, one you can access if you slide from up of the screen to down. I basically want to make status bar visible whole time, and status bar seems like part of that drop down menu. So my main question is WRONG - I want visible status bar.

Hide icons of running apps on the status bar? Is it possible to do this without rooting? I hate having to look at the spotify icon / whatsapp desktop and other apps icons on my status bar all the time, it looks so cluttered , I KNOW spotify it's running since the music is playing google, I'm not that stupid to know it's running in the background , if I want to look at my notifications, let's say I get an email, I'll slide down the notification bar , I don't need notifications being thrown at me all the time...

Does long pressing the notification in question not allow you to shut it off? Or am I misunderstanding your interpretation?
Press and hold the Settings icon Quick Settings for a while. You'll see a new section System UI Tuner, from. There you can turn on or off icon in the status bar area. You'll also now notice a wrench next to your settings icon in your quick setting area.
I hope this is what you're referring to.
You can also swipe right slowly and it will reveal a settings icon, tap there and turn off notification from just that app

If you do that you then silence all the notifications for that app , don't get me wrong I don't want to eliminate the notifications , I just want to eliminate the icons on the status bar .
Take a look at the picture I uploaded , see how the bar gets crowded with all those app icons from Spotify , the new York times apps etc ?
For what you're wanting, you'll need root.
Unless I click the actual notification to open the app, they won't go away until I view the app and then swipe down the notification panel. When swiping down there isn't even a notification, just the icon in the status bar.
On Android Pie
Any ideas?

I have also had this problem, mainly with Hangouts. I'm using a ROM though so maybe thats it?
I'm locked unfortunately, so no. Seems to happen with every app for me.
