Need instructions to flash ROM - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Need instructions to flash ROM (0P9CIMG_A5_UL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_HTC_Europe_1.23.401.1)

Rename to 0P9CIMG.zip and place on root of sd card (External not internal). Make sure your bootloader says LOCKED or you are S-Off, and then boot into HBOOT by turning your phone off and holding down both the power and the volume-down buttons. It should find the zip and ask you to press volume up to update, so do that

Can't Boot Into Recovery

Whenever I try to boot into recovery to install a ROM, it automatically does the HBoot. I don't have the option to go to Recovery. What did I do wrong?
Sounds like you need to press the other volume button when you boot into recovery. I can't remember which one is correct...volume up or volume down...try the opposite of what you are doing now.
Can I delete the PC36IMG.zip file? I feel like that is the culprit.
Yes. I renamed mine, but you can delete it.
Yeah basically the bootloader will look for PC36IMG.zip every time you enter it so if it's there it will go through that process all over again. Either rename it or delete it and your problem will be solved.
I have flashed clockworkmod, but also dont see how to directly boot into it.
When I power-on, if I press down, it goes to hboot. It I press up, I think it goes to fastboot.
The only way I can get into it, is to use rom manager, or go hboot and then choose the recovery option.
Can someone tell me what the official buttons are?
You need to take the pc36img off your sd card or rename it. Then press volume down to recovery then power button. Will then boot to a black screen with a red triangle and a EVO in the background. Then run your batch file as admin from your Evo-Recovery file. You should now been in your Recovery Mode
Yes from HBoot you need to choose recovery (assuming you renamed pc36img). That is how I did it. Once you have a custom ROM installed on the phone, download ROM manager and flash the recovery from the app. Then use quickboot to boot to recovery if you need to. But installing custom ROMs from Rom Manager is easiest.

[Q] Can I unroot a Desire with this method?

Hi Guys! really new to all this and don't really know what I'm doing, I rooted my HTC Desire quite easily with unrevoked3 (very painless), however I have realized a rooted phone is wasted on me and I'll prob do more damage than good if I leave it this way.
I have tried to unroot it with a few diff options I have found here however keep failing (it seems like the case with anyone who has a 0.93 bootloader) I have found the following method but i think its for an EVO, my question is would it work on a Desire with 0.93 bootloader?
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD
Download both the PC36IMG.zip and the S-On Tool to your PC Desktop. DO NOT EXTRACT
STEP 2: MICRO USB
Connect your device to your PC with the Micro USB cord.
STEP 3: DISK DRIVE
Chang your charging options to Disk Drive.
Menu > Setting > Connect to PC > Default Connection Type > Disk Drive > Done
STEP 4: S-ON TOOL TO SDCARD
Transfer unrevoked-forever-son.zip to the ROOT of your SDCard.
(Do not transfer the PC36IMG.zip yet)
STEP 5: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.
STEP 6: RECOVERY MODE
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.
STEP 7: FLASH ZIP
Select unrevoked-foreverson.zip in the selection area and press POWER button to complete the FLASH.
STEP 8: IS S-ON, ON?
When the FLASH is complete, Reboot the device into the Bootloader screen by holding down VOL + POWER until it boots into the White Screen. Check to make sure it says S-ON on the TOP. If it does, select RECOVERY with the VOL DOWN toggle. (continue to step 9)
If it says S-OFF, repeat STEPS 5 - 7 until it says S-ON.
STEP 9: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.
STEP 10: RECOVERY MODE
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.
STEP 11: TRANSFER PC36IMG.zip TO SDCARD
Connect the MICRO USB Cord. There is an option for this in both the Amon RA and Clockwork recovery.
Transfer the PC36IMG.zip to the ROOT of your SDCard.
STEP 12: UNHOOK USB FROM PC + USB OFF
SAFELY remove the USB from the PC and then turn OFF USB in Recovery.
The Device will check for the PC36IMG.zip and then ask you YES/NO to apply the newly introduced update. Press VOL UP = YES or VOL DOWN = NO.
Once Completed, press VOL UP to reboot.
thanks for any help on this
Try using this method instead:
Download your original RUU from shipped-roms.com
You could try also try OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2-2.10.405.2_R_P_release8gn61bgo3rswcw24.zip if you wanted to. It is a generic RUU and is not for a specific carrier/network.
If you download the RUU .zip and not the .exe, rename it to "PB99IMG.zip" (and not PB99IM.zip.zip, the .zip is the extension and is not part of the actual filename itself)
Mount your SD card and then place the PB99IMG.zip to the root of the SD card.
Unmount the SD card and turn off the phone.
Hold down the volume down key, and press the power button once, release the vol down key when in the Bootloader screen.
You will then be asked to apply the PB99IMG.zip.
As a result, this will erase all your phone data, just like performing a hard/factory reset.
Note: if your were originally branded, you will require the use of a Gold Card also to bypass the RUU CID check. To create one, see the Gold Card tool below in my sig with a card reader or another phone.
Note: If you download one of the RUU .exe files from shipped-roms, then the rom.zip file will need to be extracted from the RUU in Windows, renamed to PB99IMG.zip, and placed to the root of the SD card (same procedure as described above).
Thanks, I will try this in the morning once I have extracted the rom.zip and renamed etc,
I will let you know how i get on fingers crossed.....(really worried)
ok I couldn't wait till am,........I am happy to report your method work brilliantly......huge thanks mate.....!

[Q] Soft Bricked Evo!!!! Help!!!

Help my friend soft bricked his EVO, (tried to do the steps in this videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgOdvb8JBgc and now all it does is hang on boot logo(HTC loop), the only thing i can do is get into the Hboot, or the recovery from the hboot, and the recovery only shows a red triangle with no words, apparently it says S-off in the HBoot. Please help me provide me the necessary steps to get the phone working, or flashed back to stock.
don't worry guys i fixed it, by doing these steps
UNROOT GUIDE
NOTE: This will erase all data on the phone. (Will not erase data on the SDCard)
1) If your on Hboot 2.10 Download the PC36IMG.zip Here. If your on Hboot 2.02 Download the PC36IMG.zip here then Unrevoked s-on here rename the pc36img file to pc36img.zip copy that and the unrevoked s-on tool to the root of your sd
2) Power your off. Power the Phone back on into the boot loader by holding power and vol-down until your presented with a white screen.
3) It will scan for the pc36img.zip. Select no to flash. Select recovery from the menu. Once in recovery choose flash zip from the menu, and select unrevoked forever s-on.
4) When its done flashing select reboot from the menu.
5) From here either run the official ruu or boot back into the boot loader (see step 2). When it scans and ask you to flash the pc36img.zip select yes then yes to reboot.

YOURE S-OFF you can get ANYTHING ON IT
Try the latest RUU,run it on the computer.......after it the first screen appears after the loading......close it,go to them temp folder (type %temp% in run) see inside the folders there........you'll find a zip file named "Rom" in one of them
Copy it to the root of your SDCard(no folders) and rename it "PG76IMG.zip"(no quotes) and power on your phone while holding the volume down button......it should recognize the zip file and when it says "press vol up to update", press "volume up"

PC36IMG.zip recovery help

ok how do i install this recovery =
Install
Using fastboot (using .img)
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/<recoveryname>.img
Using bootloader (using .zip)
Rename file to 'PC36IMG.zip' and place on root of sd card, reboot to bootloader, allow bootloader to scan, volume up to accept update
i put the zip on my sd card then i go to install zip but i get the installation aborted in sdk i get the # so that means i rooted right.?? it says s-off
When using a PC36IMG file you flash it in the bootlooader. Bootloader != recovery.
Bootloader, hold vol +down and power, till you see the white screen with androids skate boarding. It'll scan, then press the vol up to install the recovery.
