So I recently upgraded to CM11 M6 and I've noticed an odd problem. When people message me on hangouts if the app isn't open, I don't get a notification on the phone at all. Then when I open the app I have to scroll through the ENTIRE conversation I've had message by message and it does the animation for each message. This means if I've been talking to somebody for an hour or so I have to scroll for like 5 minutes on my phone to get to the latest message. Anyone have any similar issues or know of a fix? This is only a problem for chat type messages, SMS comes in no problem
What I've tried:
Uninstalling updates from hangouts and google play services then reinstalling hangouts
Removing google account and readding it
EDIT: I think i've found the fix.
remove all phone entries from https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions
Removed the google account from my phone.
reboot
readd google account to phone
SUCCESS!
I have been reading about Google play and different issues with Google services. I will be receiving the phone tomorrow. Google voice (for the voice-mail and transcribed messages) and Gmail are the only 2 apps from google I care about. Anyone have Google Voice working ?
If so how did you enable it.
Thanks!!
It works ok with play services uninstalled. It never was totally reliable though. About 60% of the time it works, the rest of my calls just go out through the cell provider directly. Also you have to keep it open either manually or with an app as it closes down after a while. On my last android phone it worked at least 90% and it didn't have to be watched constantly.
If you rely on anything google, I would just forget this phone though. It is nearly 2 weeks since the play services update and no word or update from google. Without constant fiddling, my gmail, hangouts, and play store are always broken.
Depends
Depends on your setup. If you are using Gvoice with hangouts, be prepared to be frustrated! If you are using Gvoice stand alone, it will work after a few tries.
Hangouts:
Had it working fine with play services 7.0.9 and Fire OS 3.6.8. I did the manual update to 4.6.1 and it all went to hell.. I gained a bunch of functionality but because I use Gvoice integrated in Hangouts I am constantly having issues. Issues ranging from play services updating all the time and causing notifications, sync and reply to all not work, making it useless.
If you are using Gvoice stand alone, it took me a few tires to get outgoing calls to route through Gvoice.. Download and install the Gvoice app, set it for the call settings you want. I had to do this a couple times before those settings stuck.
Until the play services are fixed this is going to be frustrating. I don't see an end in sight right now seeing as it has been this long and I see no official talk about it.

Well the problem here will be that play services is causing us a lot of problems since the update. Other than that I can't imagine it being a problem. I don't install the Google voice app anymore since I forward the calls and Hangouts does work to make calls from voice number. I can vouch for that.
I got the phone, was able to get google voice installed (had to remove the store afterwards) But it will only show new messages when I open the app, there are no notification.
Is it possible to get notifications ?
Working !!!
Had to re-associate phone with Google voice and then notifications would pop up

I have a Motorola Moto X Pure with the latest Lineage OS, and for a while now I've been having trouble with Whatsapp.
I stopped receiving notifications about incoming messages, and whenever I open the app I get a screen that asks me about backing up whatsapp into Google Drive.
I can't select my account in this screen (it tells me it can't connect to it), and if I tell it to never run the backup, I can continue into my whatsapp, but the next time I start the app, the same screen will show up again.
I tried contacting whatsapp about this, but they (rather rudely) said that they do not give support to rooted devices.
Anyone else encountered this issue?
Hi,
I'm running stock Android 7.1.2 on my Swift. Since upgrading I want to use the google phone app instead of truecaller. I installed it and have it set as the default app. For some reason almost all of my contacts are now listed twice in the dialer. Also, when I make or recieve calls only the number shows, not the name of the contact. I have tried disabling truecaller and then clearing the data for contacts, truecaller and google phone and then resyncing from my google account but it doesn't seem to work.
I used to enjoy playing around with my phone in the past but now I don't have the time and just want one that works. If anyone has any recommendations for things to try before I wipe it and move to Lineage I'd appreciate it. Thank you!
Hi everyone,
I'm having an unusual issue with notifications from apps such as whatsapp, Gmail and Skype. They do not show notifications unless I open the app. Both in sleep mood and active.
I did all type of troubleshooting such as clearing app data and Google play services etc.
Ultimately I loved to Android P beta and did a clean wipe. Still the issue is there.
When contacted Google they asked me to send the device back to us so that they will replace. Currently I'm in Myanmar and it will be very costy to send it US.
Any thoughts on this strange issue would be highly appreciated and will press thanks!
