I just installed AOCP 6 on my HTC Desire HD but whenever I want to connect my phone to PC with my usb cable, it only recognizes it as charger and it doesn't show me any option to connect it to the PC. Is there any fix for this?

Hi everybody,
I need a help.
At the moment, i can't use my phone as USB tethering, for sharing my mobile network with my PC.
Before, with the official HTC ROM I had no problem.
Since some ROMS after, it doesn't works anymore..
Now, I have the Runnymede AIO v5.0.1 one, and with previous version of this ROM, it doesn't works too.
When I plugg in my phone to the USB with my PC, I select the USB tethering option in the connection type.
A few second after, the phone ask me to select again the connection type.
May be because it can't use the USB tethering option.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
Luc
When the phone ask you to select again the connection type(Internet Pass Through) tap again the connection and then Done. You will see in the notification area twq litle arrows whjch indicates to you that you have the desired connection. Don't forget to uninstall and the install the updated HTC Sync with appropriate drivers.
That's all!
Yap HTC sync need to install. if the problem remains, go to setting and tick the USB tethering as its default. That should do the trick.

If u are not in a sense rom, u should install the drivers for ur HTC phone to identify ur PC OS. Unless USB tethering will not work. Only if u are using Ubuntu, this OS automatically connect u to internet through ur phone.
Ok, thank you for yours help.
I will try this as soon as possible !! (When i find the micro USB cable >_< )
Hello everyone,
I have a device problem, I can not connect it to the computer,
Every time I connect it to the computer it shows me just charging and nothing else and the computer fails to detect it,
I did a test with three different computers and other cable and I downloaded the HTC sync manager and still no change,
I made several attempts, each time under a different default (disk storage, htc sync manager) and still the same situation.
Has anyone already had this problem?
I would like if someone who has the device can check it for me and tell me on which settings his phone is connected, tnx.
anyone?
Open up Device Manager (Start > type in the search bar "Device Manager" > hit enter) and if you have a HTC symbol with a yellow warning icon that means your drivers are not correctly installed.
If you see nothing HTC/android related at all, it seems you either have a dodgy USB cable or a defective device.
Already tried that, i guess that my device is defective

If it's happening on multiple computers I'd say so I'm afraid
i bought my htc one x just today and i want to use htc sync manager, but i failed to connect my device with pc for sync. The htc sync manager window cant see any device! knowing that i am able to use file transfer but not the sync! how can i fix that? is it me who is doing something wrong or the device is not working properly!?
sometimes, disabling firewall and antivirus for a few minutes, before plugging the phone, may help. (I had this problem with Vista)
I have same issue actually. It just does not ask how to connect the device anymore and is just charging. I have to go to status bar and select HD so pc detects it.
I can't connect to my ps3 but its fine with my laptop.any ideas?

Few days ago I charged my HTC One X wid micromax charger... The phone was charging as it does with HTC charger...
But I have a problem now dat the phone gets charged, but when i connect it to my computer it does not show any connection and just gets charged...
My phone is in warranty, but as i hav rooted it, warranty will be void I guess...
As it does not connect to computer i cannot unroot it...
Any solution for this problem ???
How can I unroot HTC One X without computer connection ??
Thanx in Advance...!!!
have you tried a different cable, and a different computer?
---------- Post added at 01:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:34 PM ----------
when connected try adb devices, see if it shows connected.
i think you'll need to make sure settings>developer options>usb debugging is enabled.

See this: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x-xl/541171-htc-one-x-unable-connect-computer-storage.html
A solution that worked was to press the power button for 10 seconds (whether or not connected to a PC) then try again.
thanks but that is not working. even in hboot when i connect the usb cable, the phones states "fastboot usb" but still isn't discovered by any pc using "fastboot devices" command. Tried 4 different computers with windows and 2 with linux (ubuntu and fedora). so i guess its a hardware problem with the socket or the motherboard.

The only way I could get the drivers to install right on windows 8 was to boot into download mode and plug in to usb on computer... let it search and find them in download mode... worked for me when nothing else was...

I actually came across a link to samsungs web site for some USB drivers.......I thought what the hell, I've tried everything else LOL, I installed them on my 8 box...and it actually worked, Odin sees my Epic now
did anyone get this to work? ive tried repeatedly to get my epic 4g (with keyboard) to be recognized by my new windows 8 computer and I cant for the life of me. The above does not work for me. Along with other suggestions ive read online.
i downloaded these drivers and even tried compatibility mode.
what i noticed is windows 8 isnt listed in the list of compatibility mode
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SPH-D700ZKASPR
My win 8 machine did just fine when I connected my Epic. Able to transfer files between them both and Odin worked with no issues.
I did find, however, if you download the new drivers - win 8 has a hard time seeing the Epic. I also have Zentimo Storage Manger installed and it actually reads the Epic as a Linux Card Reader.

which drivers do you have? can you post them so i can try to install your version instead and hopefully have better luck. The computer recognizes my evo lte right away without installing any type of drivers. but wont recognize the epic.

Not a problem. Give me a couple of minutes to find them plus I am currently doing maintenance to my media server.
As soon as I'm done I will post the drivers and links.

Took the liberty to find the driver download that I have on my laptop. ----> Samsung Driver <----
Let me know if this helped.
Just in case you don't know (which I am sure you do), open with winrar or 7-zip and click on setup.exe.

i extracted and ran the exe and I get "the samsung android driver was not successful(9)" or something like that. Guessing the "9" is a error code?
one thing i might add is device manager doesnt even recognize the device when i plug it in. no sound notification like you would usually here.
Are you running 32 or 64? Those drivers are 64.
Also try a different port. I know if I don't use the sane point I have issues too.
One other thing might be your connecting wire. If you have another USB wire, I would try that too.

im running x64
ive tried the only other usb 2.0 port i have and tried even the 3.0 for the heck of it as well as another cable. But ill look for another cable and see again.
you think since the computer is still new enough where i can get away with a system restore to when i first got it without losing anything if that would be any help? maybe I messed up some how. maybe plugging in the phone before installing drivers messed it up?
also funny thing is i connected the phone to the computer in download mode as well and still was recognized not even as if it was charging.
forgot to add I was able to install your drivers once i did compatibility mode but my phone still wasnt being recognized.
I'm sure you know this as well, but is USB debugging checked?
You can try a system restore but my experience with that and windows 8 hasn't been good.
You stated when you connect your device the computer does nothing? Not even chime?
If that is true, it is your USB ports on computer not your phone.
Have you connected another device with the same cable? If so, what if anything happens?

Yes tried usb debugging. Switched back and forth between pda and modem on diag uart menu thing. Tried different cables as well as different ports and yes other phones it sees and chimes the epic 4g charging light lights up but won't chime with computer.
I've also installed kies to see if that would help.
One last thing to try.
Go to settings/wireless - mobile networks/ scroll down till you find USB connection.
You may accidentally have check charging only. Check ask on connection.

I've been through usb debugging and the charge only the tether option as well as mass storage
Could the version have anything to do with it or that's its been flashed already from another computer.
Flashed from another computer should have nothing to do with it. I can take my device from desktop (where my device was flashed) to my laptop without any issues.
The only thing I can think of is, it has to your USB port on your device. For some reason, it is only letting you charge from a computer. That's why I thinking of the charge only feature. That would prevent your computer from seeing your device.
Even if it was the wrong driver it still would say "unrecognized device".
I would say go into control panel and uninstall driver but with it not seeing the device you can't do that.
Sorry. Right now I'm at a loss. I will keep thinking about it.

Ya Im lost too. I usually search and search and only post if I'm stummped and ny ideas are ran out of lol
That's what I do too. Are you able to connect to another computer with the same rom you are currently running?
ok so I got two new iorangee usb c cables in the mail today and I can not boot to android n with them plugged in it just loops. if I use hardware commands to enter bootloader I can send fastboot commands to it via usb but can not flash anything because the damn thing is not unlocking...
*edit solved-ish on marshmallow the crazy reboot issue is gone not sure what the hell was causing it in n but that was weird and it turns out I had a very old version of adb and fastboot bins in my path causing problems too
moving on
I have the same problem here, I'm on N and whenever I connect my Pixel C to my MacBook Pro it reboots directly and continue rebooting until I unplug the USB cable!
Disabled USB debugging from Developer Option and it is OK!
I don't know the problem exactly and I am stuck on N and I can't flash the factory image without enabling USB debugging
Any ideas?
