Here we go....
There is a lot of people that bought HTC ONE X but many threads here are opened due to the problems they are experiencing. There is also a few people who are holding back from buying the new HTC beast due to this problems.
Now my question is to all the happy owners of the ONE X what do you love most about your new phone.
Is it the HD screen? Is it the Tegra 3 processor? Is it the polycarbonate body or something else. What is your best experience with the phone so far?
Let us share What we like about the new successor from HTC so people that haven't decided yet can think again.
Sense 4 trumps TouchWiz and I like the fact they have simpled it down.
Build quality.
Screen, HD videos look crisp, text looks sharp.
I'll add more later when I've had a proper play.

The SCREEEEEEEEEEN. ANd pretty much everything else.
I've come from a barely-functional HTC Desire, so using this phone feels like I have jumped into the future somehow

Build quality is amazing yes. I do agree with Nikz. Touchwiz comes way behind to Sense..Sense is a godsend and pure awesome.
It is just a beautiful phone to have and to be honest do not regret getting it. And once i learn how to root it and start flashing roms this phone will be a beast
Everything except Sense but like usual, there will be roms out there with stripped sense roms or aosp roms
Most of all i love the camera
This honestly makes the compact camera unessesary
Intil the phone os released, it's difficult to actually point out what we like about the phone.

First of all problems aside. None. Apart from it does some weird flickering when browsing or on camera rarely. Anyway I love the screen. Love the keyboard. Love the camera. Love the speed. Love the material its made from. Love the new sense. Looks sooo mate compared to the old one. Typed this with the HTC one
Build, design, UI, camera, ics, keyboard, hd very good compared to any other handset.
Nice idea to balance out the various "issues" threads!
For me, so far it has to be the screen - just amazing! Also, coming from the Desire, was worried the One X would seem huge. Thanks to the great styling and build quality, it strangely doesn't seem that much bigger.
build quality is extremely high...
the back of the polycarbonate is so smooth it is smoother than the skin of your girlfriends!
micro drilled holes cannot be felt despite seeing it with your eyes..
the phone build just screams premium!
... ... ...
Great Build Quality
Great Camera
Awesome Display
Awesome Game Performance
Good sound output
Good HTC based widgets (Not all of them)
It's truly an amazing device... Ignore the troll you see ... People tend to scrutinize a minor problem into a whole lot bigger. Trust me it worth every penny I send on this device. It makes me happy that all it matters
Screen is super sharp, real threat to other company's.
The body feels premium and feels great in hand propebly not the same as my girlfriends skin but close
Camera super fast I hope they keep up with that technology.
Sense is improved a lot too.
There will not be much new tech coming in to the upcoming phones from other companys.
HTC did a sucsessor here.
Build is nice, 4.7 inch and still fits in my jeans without any problems.
The overall speed of the phone...it takes longer time to say "sigh" than installing a big game or a big app.
Lightweight, my previous 4.3 inch HTC is alot heavier.
Camera is outstanding, especially the burst mode, almost sounds like a DSLR.
Screen is outstanding quality.
Smooth gaming, tried a few Tegra 2 games.
Sense is very smooth. I still miss some functions from sense 3.5. (Quick launch menu)
And one thing I like in general about HTC phones is you get a screen and nothing else.
If you look at a Samsung (SGS2, Nexus) for an example, you'd get a ton platic around the screen that makes it look big but nothing else and probably won't fit in your pocket.
Good job
...and hey...it isn't just expensive...you get alot for the money.
The camera. Simply incredible from first test.
What I love
The most obvious thing about the One X is its screen. It is truly gorgeous - I could just stare at the home screen all day. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the brightness of the screen.
Sense 4.0 is really good. I know a lot of people really dislike all skins (and I do tend to agree with them) but I do think that sense brings some good features to the table without getting in the way of ICS.
Power - everything runs so quickly and smoothly. It can handle anything I can throw at it.
Build quality - I don't know how sturdy the device is but it certainly feels premium with the matte unibody and the precision laser drilled holes. I get the feeling it can be dropped without too many problems (not that I'm going to test that).
Camera - I haven't tested it properly but I can tell you it takes pictures very quickly
As others have said, its:-
Screen - the best HD phone screen I've used.
Build - manages to combine solidity with design flair (its like a solid Arc )
Camera - massive improvement on previous HTC efforts imo - took some great family shots yesterday.
in that order as the things I'm most impressed with.
I actually quite like Sense too and now I've reduced the number of Screens and Widgets I use, its a lot smoother.
Phone feels fantastic in the hand - completely different league to the plastics of the SGS2 and Galaxy Nexus I owned previously.
If HTC continues to produce phones with this quality throughout the whole 2012 year I think its going to be the biggest threat to companys like Samsung, Apple, LG, Motorola etc etc
Know there are a few of you out there. Just wondering your thoughts on your shiny nice new phone. Undecided whether to get the m8 or wait for the g3. So how does it compare to the One X?

Loved my one X but decided to upgrade to the M8. Very impressed with the actual phone but the build quality is shocking.
Going to be receiving my 3rd and final one tomorrow and it will be going back if the volume button is loose like the last, or the grills are not flush like the first.

Oops, that ain't good. If I remember right the first lot of One X's weren't all that good either. Here's hoping you third time lucky.
Its definitely a nice step up, it`s somewhat like a perfected HTC one. I`m mainly impressed by the battery life, which is darn amazing compared to my old one x+ which had better battery life than the regular one x so it should be even more of an upgrade. It`ll last 2 days of medium use, 1 and a half of heavy use, full hd video, gaming, etc. UI is also much smoother without a hitch and gaming is fluid as anything. The screen is also nice without the need of anti aliasing due to the high pixel density. The speakers are also so much better, they have a hearty thump and are about 30-50% louder, sound out of the headphone jack is also much improved, 4x louder (it`s too loud for me on lowest volume which is an issue), much more power and better bass response (its seriously very good!). I somewhat miss the matte one x texture but the new brushed aluminium on my gunmetal m8 is equally complimenting in the palm and feels more solid overall. I noticed the volume and power buttons are more pronounced and have a firm click which is nice. The build really is topnotch overall, I personally had no defects (if the speaker holes look blocked, it`s because the speakers only take up around half of the grill, the rest is just plastic and sensors behind the grill, they have larger grills for aesthetic reasons only). Camera I feel is improved, and although its only 4mp, the camera is much smoother and faster, with no focusing or shutter lag, there`s also full hd 1080p recording which is great if you have a large sd card, audio recording is fantastic, clear with a nice perception of bass and stereo seperation. Actual images look much sharper and cleaner without the typical HTC paint texture, lowlight is simply the best. If you need to zoom in however, for example text from an image you took at a lecture or such, it will not have the pixels to reveal fine details and text, this is the only downside I can think of so far. I personally dislike onscreen buttons but I won`t hold it as a negative since some people prefer it and immersive mode looks pretty sweet. All in all a great update for HTC lovers or those looking for a great phone in general, its perfect except for the lack of megapixels, however pictures come out rich and sharp just with limited zooming capability.
The battery on this phone is nothing short of amazing.
I am on 16h 10 minutes of battery as I write this, with 34% left. Granted, i didn't use my phone for about 4 hours yesterday and another 6 while I slept last night. My One X wouldn't have lasted 10 hours of off time with 1 hour of use. I haven't played any games or anything, but I've flashed two ROMS, achieved S-Off, and surfed the web/facebook and played music for a good chunk of the time it's been on.
I'm running Viper One 1.2.0 and stock kernel.
Upgraded to my m8 yesterday and if I'm being honest, after all the fiddling and tweaking I did on the one x I was a little bit underwhelmed HOWEVER the battery is worth the upgrade alone. The speakers blew me away and the build is superb for me.
The only thing I did not like about this phone is the htc logo bezel with the softkeys. Coming form the HOX it made the phone feel like I was using it upside down. I solved this by modding the build.prop to delete the navigation onscreen buttons and replace with the LMT pie settings. Now I am in love and would not change a thing...
Camera may be a downgrade, but I only use it for FB and instagram so I'm not going to base an upgrade on something other people care about. The size was a worry, but feels fine now. The case it came with is nice, but I want to try the dot case before I buy.
Battery Battery Battery Battery and sense 6 is actually nice.
Heellllooo,
I came from the HTC One XL LTE Dual Core One X and for the past few weeks, I was really just looking for something with better battery life since The One XL just wasn't lasting a proper full day. It just so happened that the release date of the M8 was the released just a day before I decided enough was enough, it was time for a new phone. I could not be happier with my choice, I certainly feel as though every aspect of the phone is better than my One XL. I too sacked the software buttons for the Pie Controls and while the screen feels Much bigger, I still don't have any problem one handed swipe typing with swiftkey like I did on the One XL. A lot of people seem to be knocking the camera but I actually think it's great for a phone camera and feel like it is an improvement over the camera I had. The sound is great aswell, not just for music but previously I could barely hear when texts went off or when people called but now I never miss it, even though I work in a somewhat loud environment.
I love AOSP so having GPE Rom access is just another plus as I no longer need to worry about nightly AOSP based ROM stability.
There's not a single part of me that regrets this upgrade. Hope this helps.
Thanks guys for all your feedback. Did go and have a play with one yesterday in the shop. It feels amazing, definite quality. I'm just not sure of how it looks. Love the onscreen keys but why waste all the space with the bezel? Know it must have a purpose but if they could have put hard keys on it and not wasted so much space. Thing I'm going to wait until the g3 comes out and then decide. M8 and viper might take some beating tho

Hey there, my dad is due for an upgrade and can't decide between the two.
What are your HONEST thoughts, I played with both and.found the m8 to be snappier but the screen looking odd with those big bezels. What's your average SOT before the.phone dies?
I just upgraded to the M8 while my girlfriend got the S5. I can't speak for the support of custom Roms and development on the S5 but I've been more than happy with getting my M8 the way I like it. I'm using gpe firmware with skydragon and everything is crisp and fully customizable. I was able to get s-off easily with sunshine too.
I like the hardware buttons on the S5 but overall think the M8 is the way to go.
Head on over to the "what is your battery like" thread for everyone's opinion. I'm not sure about SOT for me, but average use lasts me about 30 hours right now.
If you played with both, I surprised it is even a debate. I had a similar quandary about a year back, comparing the phones on paper; as they have very similar specs. But once I had the 2 in hand at a store, it was no comparison. The S5 just felt like a cheap plastic kids toy. While the M8 felt like a well-eingineered and precision crafted device, fitting it price tag.
Plus, TouchWiz is horribly laggy on most Samsung devices from last year. So with inferior software and hardware, its really no contest.
Who cares about the bezel? Despite popular believe, the black bar at the bottom (where it says "HTC") is space needed due to the internal components, even though they removed the capacitive buttons (from the M7). If they just colored it silver, most people would probably not be complaining about it. Or if they made it smaller, they would have had to increase the bezel on the sides or top, or make the device thicker.
Which one should I buy?
Really like the front speakers from HTC and Nexus 6. But dont know what is the best choice overall.
Here in my country the price of them are very similar.
Thanks.
If you are looking for a crack-flasher phone with no bugs on custom ROMs, Nexus is the way to go. If you want a nice audio experience, M9 it is. If you want a DSLR-like camera, G4 is your weapon. And if you want the more mainstream, less dev friendly but overall awesome device, GS6!

My last phones were Moto X and HTC M8.
I loved them both.
Moto X had a horrible battery life, and I gave it to my wife, that was in need of a phone.
My M8 was perfect, but I though that, as the Moto X, had a bad camera... Really smooth, excelent battery life, and a nice front speaker. I forgot my M8 on the top of my car, while I was putting my baggage on it.
I saw S6 and G4 on the store. Pretty nice phones, but I dont know if the their android will keep smooth after installing my stuff like it was on M8 or Moto X.
G4 has a nice camera. I like cameraphones (had also a Nokia 808, before). But when I travel, I always take my dSLR with me. G4 would be a nice pocket cam, but doesnt have front speakers (I always watch ytube videos and use loudspeaker for calls - like to have my hands free while in my workdesk).
My first smartphone was a Galaxy S1, and my wife has a tablet Note 2014. Im a bit traumatized with touchwiz. Too laggy. Before I bought them both, they looked awesome and smooth on the store. I felt a bit tricked by Samsung, and never bought nothing else from them after these products.
Nexus looks like a big Moto X. Better battery life, better camera, but its a bit huge, and its not 64bits (I think it may have a lesser longevity cause of that than the others). Probably, its smooth, and it has front speakers as well.
Im really tempted to buy M9, but the all the reviews tell that its camera is worse than the M8 camera, and its front speakers is also worse than those from M8's. Dunno If its battery life is better or worse (can anyone tell me?) than M8's battery. Also, dunno if, after installing some apps, it keeps smooth and quick as M8 (can anyone tell me about this, too?).
Really in doubt about what to buy. My friend told me to take a look on Sony Z3, and my other friend told me to keep waiting for the incoming gadgets (but Im without any smartphone, bad bad ).
Help.

If you're upgrading from M8, be prepared for the differences to be very subtle. I did this but was expecting basically the same phone only with some minor/under the hood improvements. And this is exactly what the M9 is. I loved the M8 and I love the M9 more, but it's probably only about a 10% improvement.
What carrier are you on? If your carrier doesn't already have a direct path to the 2.X firmware, I'd either get the developer edition or budget an extra $25 to obtain S-off. I'm att and couldn't imagine having to wait for them to give me an update. I think they finally pushed lollipop to the M8 in freaking March or April.

The M8 is at least $300 on eBay so its half the price of the high end right now. I'd tell you to go get another M8 and save some money. Comparing it to the M9, the M8 has better battery life with a much more battery efficient processor that keeps the phone relatively cool. The performance difference between the S801 and S810 is negligible, you're just not likely to notice. Daylight shots should be better on the M9 whereas night shots are better with the M8. Speakers are somewhat better, Dolby surround stuff is pretty nice. In terms of development M8 is leagues better right now. I'd highly recommend skipping this generation and waiting for the new Nexus, HTC Hero device coming later this year, or the M10 next year.
There also a noticeable difference between the M8s screen and the M9s. If you liked the M8s you might not like the M9s.
All these flagships are pretty nice, and all of them have possible problems:
-S6: Pink tint on white, Board traces under sunlight, exploding battery, illogical TW
-M9: Screen wake lag (will be fixed by OTA), QC 2.0 that not always work, cracked camera glass (though still a minority)
-G4: Touchscreen issue (could be fixable by OTA), leather backs can loose color quite fast, huge lack of roms
On the good sides:
-S6: Very good camera both low light and daylight, gorgeous screen (when you don't have the listed faults)
-M9: Gorgeous camera in daylight (RAW) , Superb music, Fastest UI ever, quality Roms, best UI and apps (Sense 7)
-G4: Gorgeous screen, Superb camera in both daylight and low light, faster UI than S6
All of the 3 have advantages and cons, now see which one fits you better!
For example if you prefer larger screen the G4 is more suitable

Im in Brazil.
Here, the price are:
- M9 US$750
- G4 US$700
- S6 US$700
- N6 US$700
- Note 4 US$650
- M8 US$600
- Z3 US$600
- Z3C US$450
- Moto X US$400
If I could, I would wait for the next gen from HTC (the one named Hero).
But Im without any smartphone right now.
Id like to buy something that could lasts for the next 2 years.
Still, hasnt decided, yet. Have to make this until the next weekend.
I'd get the M8 over the M9. If you're bored with HTC phones then maybe try the Z3 compact. Battery life on that is supposed to be amazing. Not sure about anything else with the compact though.
Anyone done this ?
Been offered a swap for my 6p,
I'm relatively happy with the 6p apart from the crappy battery and most Devs moving onto the pixel.
How good is the camera in comparison and video?
nope performance is not faster than 6P.
camera cant beat 6p.

Lol
If you are used to Nexus devices better switch to Pixel.
Tbh Ive used a lot of phones and the pictures and videos Ive made with them in the last years are all good.
If you want outstanding picture or video quality you have to use a DSLR or Video Camera.
But I would send that ugly brick called 6p to hell and use anything but it.
I'm gonna copy my experience I wrote this morning from another thread:
- Design and Build Quality:
The design is better on the HTC 10. It feels great in your hands, and it's a really solid little tank, seeming to be way more robust than the 6P. The 6P was well built, but I wouldn't say it was top notch (gaps between display glass and frame, camera visor, etc.) - Whereas I would consider the HTC 10 to be one of the best built phones I ever held in my hands. Really. Worth to note are the fantastic buttons and their Layout, which wasn't great on the 6P. Also, the size is simply perfect for my hands. I don't miss the size of the 6P, the HTC feels especially better in one hand and never feels too small to me. By the way:
<- This is straight Nokia 3310 quality and it definitely feels like that.
- Display:
Where I was the most sceptical about was the Display. I sweared to me to never buy a phone without an AMOLED display again, since the black levels on my last iPhone 6 and f.e. one of my older HTC M7 were straight horrible. Light grey, to be precise. And I just can't stand that. I gotta say, that I'm still insanely surprised about the HTC 10s display. You would almost think that it has actually an AMOLED display since the colors pop and shine. It's not as unnatural as the 6Ps display, I would say it's overall more appealing than the AMOLED one (what I didn't expect at all). Also the black levels: in darker rooms, they seem to be dark grey, which is fantastic. You won't notice the not-black-to-black-bezel until you really focus on it.
- Sound Quality:
The 6P was (especially with some EX tweaking) way, way louder while the HTC 10 is clearer and sounds more 'full' and also warmer, especially in near field, f.e. while laying in bed and watching videos our listening to music. But when you want to fill a bigger room or want to 'party' outside, you definitely need some Bluetooth speakers - it was possible with the 6Ps volume, tho.
- Camera:
The app is without a doubt so much better than the Google camera. The auto point and shoot mode isnt nearly as good as the 6Ps (I miss the Auto HDR mode in darker situations that made photos so much noiseless), but with at least some easy tweaking (EV), you get some great quality photos that CAN come out way better and more interesting than out of the 6Ps camera. Not to mention the fantastic manual mode... Oh boy! OIS on both cameras is a great thing, and the selfie camera also is a great to have thing, since it is really, really good.
- Battery life:
Yes, the battery life... I was surprised, but I can also assure you that it was and is - out of the box - so much better than the Nexus 6Ps. I still can't find out why, but the 6P gave me like ~3h SOT at max, even with some Kernel tweaking. With the HTC 10, I get like 4-5h at least, and I never had problems to get through 2 busy days. I am sure that their is some more potential, when you notice some people in the Battery Life Thread having more than 7h SOT. That was the biggest Wow factor and surprise to me.
- OS:
Hell, I don't miss stock Android. Not. A. Little. I would go even further and say that HTC did the best interpretation of Android with their Sense UI so far. It feels like stock Android in every way, but the feature set is so much better, you honestly need to experience it. Camera app, Display settings, Sound tweaking, Display gestures, Night light, some great HTC Widgets and Apps (which you won't even notice if you don't use them), etc. etc. It's just really well thought and implemented, and I gotta salute HTC for doing such a great job of adding features while maintaining the stock Android feeling. Did I mention the performance is also incredible and better (yes, better) than the 6Ps? It just feels more fluid and quick when you actually use it. In every situation. The 6P sadly had some let downs, not bad, but they occured sometimes. Maybe due to the SD810.
If you want to know anything else, just tell me.
All in all, it was definitely worth it. At least to me. I owned 3 Nexus devices so far: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6P. I don't regret it a single day. Considering the price of about 400€ for a HTC 10 and the disaster the Pixel actually is (Price, Design - Seriously, it looks like a fat plastic phone for 9 years olds), I can just recommend the same for you. If you want to mod, you can mod easily, but once again, I didn't even root the 10 and it still is an amazing phone, since it's truely feature rich. It has no true weaknesses, unlike the Nexus 6P. It feels way better and more safe in your hand, unlike the 6P. It's way more solid and simply a beauty.
You can't go wrong with it. But it really depends on what you actually want to do with and expect from your phone.
Oh, and switching over to the 10 is fine. Sense UI looks and feels like Android, even more, it feels like what (Stock) Android should really be. The tweaks and features HTC implemented are great. And again: if you want it like stock Android, you can have it like stock Android - just don't use the (hidden) HTC stuff. This might be the only thing you will regret tho. :d
