Screen response laggy - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
My note 4 unfortunately died on me last Friday. Yesterday I received a insurance replacement. I believe it was pretty smooth in stock but once I got home and flashed the rom I had on the other Note 4, lag fest. I have flashed different roms 7 times already since last night. I am currently getting ready to flash stock lollipop. Problem is, when you swipe or scroll through screens or menus, even when typing, the lag has become unbearable. Is it possible I'm wasting my time and this refurb is defective? Can't believe I'm going to have to go back to sprint and go through this again, assuming they see it my way.
Is there something I'm not checking?
Rey

Well after insisting they did order another replacement. The "techs" there claim the phone is fine but it's not. Aside from the terrible lag, it's a battery hog and I mean I get half the batter life with this POS. Bluetooth is choppy and WIFI never connects automatically. I have to input passwords every time. But no, there's nothing wrong with this refurb. No roms and no amount of resets make the slightest of a difference.
One of the employees there says to me that all phones lag and maybe my expectations were too high. He then asks what was my previous phone. It was a Note 4 :silly:

....idiots. Hope the next one works for you. I just got a refurb also and it seems ok. Touchwiz lags a little on the home screen but after clearing cache it speeds back up.

For some reason this morning for the first time the phone was functioning properly for the most part. Decided to pull the battery and reboot and it's back to it's usual ways. Tomorrow I get the replacement but I wonder if a defective battery could cause these issues?

Try removing the SD card and reboot. This is a known issue with some cards making the phone wonky.

Thank you, I tried that too. In fact I left it without the SD card just in case this phone is so messed up that it may damage my card.

Got my replacement Note 4 yesterday and now we're good :good:

Good to hear, is your replacement a new phone or another refurb?

It's a refurb but in great condition. I was surprised to see the bezel scratch-less since it can happen so easily on the beveled edge.
Sure makes work easier with a properly working Note 4. What a great phone!

You received a refurb and it had scratches? I would have flipped my wig and called Asurion real quick. I would have asked for a new phone since your history with refurbs was bad.

I actually starting having problems with my recent received refurbished Note 4. It started after I went to the gym, I put the phone on Airplane mode so I wouldn't be flooded with Facebook notifications and when I turned Airplane mode off the LTE star just kept spinning and wouldn't load any app it just sat there. I rebooted my phone cuz I got tired of it and when it came back Touchwiz home randomly force closed. Then a few hours later I noticed when charging the phone with the fast charger the keyboard and touchwiz lagged pretty bad, but only if I had it charging. Have you seen this lag issue before on your previous refurbished phones? If it keeps up I will be calling Asurion.

Well the refurb before this one lagged terribly in those areas but all the time no matter what. Did you do a factory reset already? If you did and it's still the same then your phone is crapping out.

The phone came factory reset, I HATE doing that all my dang apps get erased and have to start over. If it happens again later I will call and just say Yeah I already factory reset it and still has problems. When your battery gets low later can you charge the battery and surf the web and use the keyboard and see if it lags? I wonder if its just the new Fast charge technology thats making it lag when the screen is on.

Thanks, I checked the forums and couldn't find anyone else complaining about it.

I called Asurion and told them the issues I'm having and they told me I have to take it to a Sprint store and they may fix it or if its unrepairable they will replace it. When I had a claim thru Asurion before it was all thru them not Sprint, I'm assuming this has changed?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if you use Odin and reflash the stock. tar it won't wipe your data/apps. Worth a try.. That's probably what the Sprint store will do.

That has been my experience. The stock tar is from the Sprint update.

Well my phone just went bye bye

I dont know what happened. Running stock everything
All of a sudden the phone shut off and now it vibrates every 2 seconds. Have tried everything to get it on.
When you put the battery back in, it shows the load up screen and then half way through, shuts itself off and just vibrates once every 2 seconds. Really annoying.
Called T-Mobile and having a replacement sent tomorrow.

Yeah I have PHP protection with them so I always have warrenty and insurance together. Its alot easier trying to get an exchange when your phone wont turn on because they dont make you do 1000 different things lol, was off the phone within 5 mins. Tried being slick and saying " Well you know if their arent any S2 in stock, you can always send me the s3 if you like ".. Didnt work =[ They had s2 lol
Anyway, nothing really. Was just typing, put the phone down, then the screen went off like it always does, then when I tried to turn it back on to unlock it, it happened.
This happened a few weeks ago but the vibrating lasted for a couple of mins ten ended up turning itself back on. Now its just not turning itself back on at all. Just stuck with the vibrate.
Am I losing everything on it now or will it automatically back up on my gmail account?
I knew I shouldnt have saved all those pix on the phone and not the sd card lol

Sorry, unless you had some kind of auto upload set up ( I set mine up through Dropbox and Google + ), those pictures are likely lost.
Google doesn't automatically sync pics unless you have Picasa, I think?
Russian smashed across the interwebz from my T-Mobile Galaxy S2.
Sounds like the power button might be stuck.
I gotta say, I HATE UPS. I dont know why T-mobile uses them. You get overnight delivery and of course they ring the wrong bell and do not come back. I live on ground floor and they up and ring top bell. Fed EX of course would always come back. Thank fully the overnight delivery was basically be free, but that sucks. I also wish they would just leave the phone sometimes but they never do, even though it is not sig required. ( Drivers Discruction )
Gotta wait till Monday now.
sux brohim
had the same thing happen to me. this was back when i was dong the stock ICS update through (hang myself) Kies. Thankfully T-mobile sent me a new one at no charge and i didn't pay for the shipping either. either battery fried or something in the phone. seems to have been a fairly rare but known prob with the t989.
i always seem to to get the units that are within the .05% of defective units, no matter what company i buy from.
Here's to hoping you get better luck with the next unit! :raise a beer:
Quick question
I have used GB for my gs2 from the beginning and never upgraded to ICS.
I am worried that the replacement they send will have ICS in it. Simply put, will it be easy for me to put GB on the phone when I get it.
You can root and flash a gb Rom
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
You can go through odin and follow the tutorial on galaxys2root.com to unroot and ffash to stock GB. Link provided. The power button may have been stuck on yours but congratulations on getting it replaced. Just follow that tutorial and it will get you to stock 2.3.6 GB with no root or anything done, completely stock.

Was messing around with the power button today pushing it 100 times and it finally turned on. Figures it would turn on when I'm getting a new one on Monday. Least I now backed up all my pix and contacts. Now point in keeping this one though, probably gunna happen again. Keeping the new one.
Wow another S2 down with a defective power button. I just had to send my out to get fixed for the same problem. This is become more common
So I received the phone today. Came stock with 4.0.4.
I plug it into my computer and kies gives me this
" Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies "
What the hell is that all about.
Oh and when I made my first call, I heard the people on the other end, but they did not hear me. I had to battery pull. It sucks because that was an issue with my phone on GB, figured it might have been fixed with ICS. Guess not. It really makes me sick that this happens. Sometimes I call someone and I hear nothing at all. Its happened with both GB and ICS. When the hell are they going to issue a fix for this crap.
First thing that I noticed and do not like is that when I use the keyboard, the phone vibrate heptic or w.e is not as strong as it was with GB. Also the voice on the other end sounds more muffled and more can like than GB. Not sure if thats the phone though
I keep reading that ICS stock verison UVLH1 ICS 4.0.4 is the Official tmobile and best ICS rom for stock
The phone they sent me is Baseband Version UVLI1.
I cant find anything on this version. What is it?

Time for upgrade maybe you can convince them to send you S3
I had to just replace my S2 with a new one from t-mo because I had tons of problems with my original phone once it upgraded to ICS. "Hanging" goodbye (didn't want to shut off unless you took out the battery, even after the buzz - which tells me that I may possibly had a stuck on/off switch too), lost the phone's internal driver so that the phone can be plugged into my PC, internet and processes became S-L-O-W-E-R than molasses, and more.
I'm assuming that, since all the S2's now have ICS on them shipping out, Samsung may have added a little additional processor power or something in order for it to run efficiently on ICS. All I know is that it runs a little faster than my original S2 did. And no problems - SO FAR.
P.S. UPS really does suck - they tried to deliver twice to my house, didn't leave one of those sticky things that said they were there, and I finally wound up going to a UPS service facility where I had to wait over one hour to get my new phone.

I am not really happy with it. Seems slower to me. Not as smooth. Still sometimes the person on the other line cant hear me, and vice versa with the battery pull, but I had that with my old phone and GB also. If I am going to have it either way though, id rather just stay smoother with GB.
What did your new one come with? Mine is UVLI1. Kernel 3.0.8

Random shut downs?

Hi guys. Haven't been here in a while. My daughter is now saying her cap. glide is randomly shutting itself down- not related to low battery. It happened 3 times in one week. When she powered it up the battery was fine. The phone is about 9 months old. I think it has a 12 month warranty. At least on the samsung site it says 12 months. We got it from ATT with contract renewal.
I read that the regular Captivate had this problem. Did it flow over into the glide? Haven't found anything about it. I assume ATT will replace with a refurb if anything.

I use mine pretty heavy and havent noticed any problem i assume that you are running the phone completely stock and if so i would suggest that you download samsung kies from samsungs site and run it then plug the phone in and it will ask you if you want to update the phone it may run better on the newest firmware that there is other wise i would download avgs free antivirus app and run it to see if there are any apps that might be to blame i would post links but to avoid spam i am not allowed

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is stock rom, but I have it rooted with CWM recovery on it. I don't think kies can update it due to CWM. And it's in another state. LOL. But good to know you don't have the issue. As for running antivirus, my daughter does not even know what that is- she barely runs it on her computer. If I ever get my hands on it I will try your suggestion for AV.
Could be a battery issue... mine did the same, and when I took out the battery it was slightly swollen.
Thanks for that. I'll have her check it out.:fingers-crossed:
Interested in your solution
My wife's Captivate Glide just started having random shutdowns last week. I came over looking for a "return to stock" thread hoping that putting a new OS might help when I saw this thread. I've been reading xda on the GalaxyII boards since getting mine last year so have some familarity with xda. Wife prefers to not update OS so I want to avoid ICS. She had AVG installed and I added Lookout to scan with it also and can't seem to find an issue with those. The problem for her mainly manifest itself when she has the internet turned on. The phone will basically act like the battery is critical and do a shutdown even if it is over 50 percent. power up with the cord in and it still shows good charge. If I find something that works I'll post it here also.
I have random shutdowns/boot cycles too. I've narrowed it to a hardware issue. I was running rooted stock rom, but also ran liquidsmooth and now on aokp rom, and its still happens.
I posted a topic a couple weeks ago, asked if anyone has any experience replacing the power button..its not that it sticks, but if pressed the wrong way in the wrong spot, the phone goes into endless boot mode, with the samsung logo up for about three sec, then black, then samsung logo, then black.
The timing is rarely the same. There's no debris or gunk. Its not battery. Its not overclock issue. Its something to do with the phyical power button.
Can I diasble power button using key remapping?

Having the same problems with my Glide, and I really do think it's a hardware issue since my battery looks fine. After reading many threads here and elsewhere, I'm resigned to the fact that it can't be fixed, but more suggestions are welcome.
My daughter has had this phone for almost a year and it just started happening to hers. She is very hard on her phone. 5000 texts/month with alot of drops. She just might have abused it to near death. lol.

My phone is randomly shutting down; some times is in cyclic restarts.
Did you guys came up with a solution to this problem?

5000 texts per month?
Does your daughter know how to speak or is she only familiar with written language?
If you're on a stock rom, it's almost certainly a bad battery.
Battery voltage will drop when it's hot or if it's damaged. When you turn it back on, the phone says you still have plenty of power left.
What the phone is really doing is making a guess about how much battery life it has left.
It knows the voltage. Now, if you know the voltage a battery is producing with no load, you can get sort of an idea of how much more life you can get out of it. The phone keeps track of this (roughly) and tries to guess. It's also not going to let the battery drop too far down below 3.6 volts, it will shut it off for safety, because if you truly completely discharge a lithium battery, you can't charge it. (there are tricks to get them going again, but it's bad for them.)
And a damaged battery can have plenty of volts, but once you put it under load it will drop sharply. The phone will power down to protect the battery, or it just won't be able to stay on any longer.
Anyway, pull your battery. Make sure it isn't bulging. Pick up a spare off of ebay for $10 and see if it is better.
Or if it's under warranty, just take it in.

Lol.... Sometimes it's only 3 thousand. But you are right. The art of communication is being lost on this generation of kids who rely on computers, tablets, and smartphones. Instead of calling, they text about everything.
My daughter is graduating:victory: with a double major- Theatre and speech (performance) so we know she can talk and sing and psychology with ambitions to get a masters in dance therapy to work with autistic kids.... Very informative. Thank you. She did pull the battery and it was fine. It is about a year old. I got her 2 replacements and she just doesn't use them. I will suggest that she switches to a new one- although they are almost a year old too, but unused- I charged them up once before i gave them to her.
phone saga continues!!!
:silly: Well, my daughter being sooooo poor that she couldn't buy herself a BOX of tissues(cough-cough), she was pulling toilet paper from the dorm bathroom and plop! OOps!! Her phone fell into the drink! (toilet bowl!!)
She knew enough to pull the battery and used a blowdryer to start the dry out process, and put it into a bag of rice. Didn't leave it in long enough and tried to power on- did a little dance, and it died. I thought she fried it, but she put it in rice again- battery pulled and slid in the open position.
2 days later she called us on it- (today) and it seems to be working!!!:victory:
So, Rice saved the day again! :silly::good::highfive::fingers-crossed:
We'll see how long it lasts. I bought a cheap go phone last nite on att for $21 as a temporary replacement. Maybe it won't be needed.
Help!!
Hard to believe my glide is begining to give problems. After flashing a stock kernel on spike55 jb 4.2 rom,i started getting random app crashings. So i sought to revert by flashing back the original jb ROM,but it got worse. Now i was uable to get network and my baseband version displayed unknown also i had random reboots.
At this junction, i realised i had to revert to stock. So i got a stock ICS rom from sammobile, flashed it via odin and whala! Problem seemed solved. So i flashed CWMR and reflashed jb 4.2.
Afterward, all seemed well not until the random reboots came back. So here i was thinking about my phone being tired of all the flashing and wanting to be on stock. I went back to stock, but the random reboots still lingers.
Though i have a feeling the problem is with my power rocker cos only a little tap pops up the power menu.
At this junction, i dunno what to do. I'll be very grateful if i can get any real assistance from anyone. Thanks a bunch in anticipation.
So I thought I'd post again. Daughter home for good. Started complaining about her battery again. I found her 2 spare batteries that were never used. Had her make the switch.
Then I looked at the removed battery. It was slightly swollen. You had to look straight down to tell. Looking at it flat, it seemed to be fine. But put it on end and it had a slight bulge. So it was a battery going bad. We caught it before the phone was damaged.

Hello!!! Back again My daughter ran on macadam and her unprotected cap. glide plopped out of her sweatshirt pocket and hit hard. A small hairline crack in the screen, but it pretty much killed the digital panel. She had it for 18 months and for her, that's a record. But she loved the phone.
We just got a new one unlocked one off amazon for $138. No contract renewal for her.
If anyone is still reading this thread, her OS is 2.3.5 or 6. Is it worth updating to ics? We don't have kies installed so it will be a job to get everything installed, get drivers working, etc. She will be happy with GB. Last time I made the change to swap external and internal sd cards and she had no problems.
So is ICS worth the effort? Battery life? Can the sd swap trick work? Any advice will be appreciated. Presently it is new and stock.

..it might even have come with ICS, the UI differences to GB are very slim.. Can't say more because stock roms are far inferior to the beast called P.A.C.man ROM  :good:
Really depends if she is tech savy and will explore the depths of customizability and usage... If so, http://pacman.basketbuild.com/index.php?dir=main/i927/nightly/ is the next place to go
Nightly builds 'been broken for 10 days now but should be fixed soon by awesome @kick buttowski :good:
And on a rooted phone, Titanium Backup can import/export SMSs and contacts supposedly even over to a different rom. (Still struggling a bit getting all my contacts ported from the sony xperia system, but..)
Oh by the way, one of them plastic hard cases is about 5$ on the bay
...It's not water proof though

Nice to see people are still using this phone. As far as the case- I must have bought 5 of them for her. She didn't want them on her phone. Now that she paid for her own replacement, she may rethink that one! lol. She is not tech saavy at all, so custom builds are not her thing. I didn't even do the mods on this phone that I did on her original. Thanks for your input. OH, it's still GB.

[Q] Battery dead?

Hello, my Verizon One won't seem to charge. The other day I woke up, used my phone till it was at about 85%, then topped it off back to 100% before I left as I was going to be on the road most of the day. When I took it off the charger I noticed it was a bit warm, not excessively so but noticeable. A couple of minutes later (it had been off the charger) I noticed it was getting hotter. I restarted it hoping for the problem to sort itself out. Maybe 30 minutes later the battery had dipped to 25% and the phone was very warm. I started to get worried and turned it off. Hoping that would at least postpone the problem I put it aside and didn't mess with it. About another half hour later I picked up the phone to see if it had cooled off, only to find that it was even hotter! I got very worried and actually had to hold an ice cube to the back of the phone because I'd heard of bad things happening to overheating phones. That seemed to solve the problem and the battery seemed to have finally run out because it didn't heat up anymore. I got home and tried to charge it to no avail. The thing seems to be completely dead. I was running CM 11 but I hadn't messed with any processor settings. I thought it would be a software issue because of the beta version of CM but idk after it continued to overheat after it was shut down. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, if I should just send it to HTC support let me know. I've been reluctant to contact them since the phone is rooted and all...
I have heard to place the phone under a light with the charging cord hooked up. I know it sounds weird but people says it works. I have heard nothing but horror stories about cm11 and refuse to run that Rom. From issues that you describe to it breaking the lte radio and having to flash an ruu to get it working again. There are so many other Roms that are real good.

Before all this CM11 worked great. No lag and everything seemed to work fine minus a couple occasional glitches. Could it be the ROM as it continued to heat when turned off?
I've had the phone on the charger for about a day now, no sign of life. What will happen if I send it to HTC support?
Where did you get the phone? Most likely if from Verizon you can contact their customer support line, tell them it isn't charging and they'll send you a refurb. I just don't mention to them that the phone is rooted and they have always exchanged mine without issue.

I got mine from Viva Movil as they had it on sale. Would it work the same way since it is a branch of Verizon?

There's no harm in calling Verizon tech support, telling them your problem and asking for a replacement device. The worst they can say is no. But then you'd have other options. I don't see them telling you no. I had an issue with a phone a got off Craigslist and they replaced it. I didn't tell them I wasn't the original owner but it was only a few months old and shouldn't matter anyway. They didn't even ask tho.

The exact same thing happened to me about a month ago and I have been terrified to send it in to HTC or use my Squaretrade replacement program for fear they would figure out it was rooted and send me back my broken device with a voided warranty.
Finally I took it into verizon yesterday and they are now sending me a new one in the mail.
I have to send them my broken one after I receive the new one and I'm afraid they might detect its rooted and charge me the $600 for the new device they sent me.
Anyone gone through something similar?

I bought my HTS One from Viva Mobil too, and it clearly was shipped by Verizon.
Three weeks ago, it stopped booting or charging. I walked into a local VZW store and they couldn't wake it either, so they couldn't see I had rooted the phone. They ordered a warranty replacement for me.
I doubt that they're going to bother to see what ROM is on the returned unit..

Just got back from the VZW store, they took it but said "if any software manipulation was detected" I would be charged $300 for the refurb phone. Better than $600 but I'm kinda worried.
I believe this is associated with running a non sense based rom on the phone. There was another guy who had his phone overheat and speakers blown when he was running AOSP, and I know the overheating thing happened to multiple people. I feel like for some reason it's too risky to run AOSP because of these horror stories so if I want an AOSP feel I'll just run a GPE rom with xposed to tweak it how I like. Never had bad luck since, and I predict I won't have any in the future since these roms are made for our hardware by HTC themselves.

[Q] Major problem with my stock ATT E980

Okay, I originally got this phone as an upgrade over my HTC Inspire in July. It worked great, minus a few random reboots every once in a while (if I left it in my pocket for a long time or if it was really hot in my car it would do this, but that was it). Then, about a month or two ago, I rooted it and installed a custom ROM. I noticed that a bunch of my files were missing from my internal SD card, but I wasn't too worried about it. Then my phone started acting really weird and got stuck in a bootloop. I was able to boot into recovery, but I ended up using the LG Flash Tool and went back to bone stock. Still had the issue, except I noticed that my signal would drop, and then it'd get stuck in the bootloop. So, I contacted AT&T warranty and they sent me a replacement. Now the same thing is happening to this one. It gets warm, loses cell signal, then reboots, sometimes a bootloop. This phone hasn't been rooted at all, it's been left stock. So I contacted AT&T and the guy in warranty said he thinks it's the battery, but he didn't have any in stock so he couldn't send a replacement. So I was thinking it was the battery and called LG after it seemed to get worse. They told me that they could replace the battery free of charge if I send in the one I'm using first. Since this is my only way of communication, I contacted AT&T again, and they're sending me another replacement. (Said if this one screw up too, they'll give me a different phone all together). The guy had me download some AT&T remote support app and he looked at the battery health and said it's reading fine, and that because it's reading fine, he didn't think it was the battery. :|
Here's the weird thing, about two weeks ago, it went into a bootloop. I took out the battery for a minute an tried to put it back in. Nothing. I plugged the charger into it and it basically told me that it didn't have enough juice to power on. (battery was at ~40%). So I took the battery back out and tried again. This time it came on.
Then last friday, I was jammin out to music while I was working, it would reboot when I unlocked the phone. (battery was in upper 90%'s). I plugged the charger in while it did this and everything came up as it should. But after taking it off the charger and trying to do more work, it happened again and again.
Like I said, this phone is straight from AT&T and has not had anything flashed onto it by me, hell I never even disabled all the AT&T bloat this time. I've tried a hard reset, and it didn't help. Does anybody know what would be the cause of my problems? I really like this phone and really hope I can get this figured out.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the phone still has its IMEI number and it has the value pack update.
Got the second replacement in the mail today. It hasn't screwed up yet, but only time will tell.

Wow hope this works for you. I just got 3 Optimus G Pro's on 12/30/13 and all 3 of them to date have not had any issues. 2 black and 1 white. 2 which are running stock. 1 stock which has had a bunch of the bloatware yanked (that we could get off of it). 1 stock which has had nothing pulled, everything left the way it is. And the 3rd one (which is the one I use) which I rooted to CyanFox 4.4.2 and later to CM11 4.4.2 Nightly and haven't had any issues like the ones you've explained.
Good luck though hopefully your issue is gone. Seems like a nice reliable phone (minus LG not wanting to support it furthermore ).

I really hope my issues with this phone are done too, I really love this phone. If I don't have any issues, it's going to get rooted and updated to KitKat. Otherwise, I'll try to get AT&T to give me a MotoX or a HTC One.

Yeah I like this phone with KitKat. Looks like a larger Nexus 5
Only problems i'm having with CM11:
1. ATT Visual Voicemail will install but upon playing voicemails program will freeze and crash
2. Tried Google Voice however you can only hear the voicemails through speakerphone, headsets, or bluetooth. Voicemails will no play through earpiece.
3. CM11 doesn't have Screen Recorder yet (Which CyanFox did although CM11 is still fairly fresh).
4. I would like to have the LG Camera app back! Dual video recording and some of those other features are gone with the android stock Camera app. Need to look into porting that back over to KitKat (if I can).
That's bout it though...

Haha yeah, this phone is beautiful with stock Android, I just end up missing certain touches that LG puts in their overlay.
BTW, this phone is doing the same thing as before. I strongly believe it's the battery b/c when it went into a bootloop, I took out the battery it was warm, so I put it in front of the AC for a minute to cool it down and it's been working fine since. So, I'm going to call AT&T and see if they will send me a battery, and if they can't, I'm going to have to send this one in to LG and be without a phone for a week...:'(
UPDATE: AT&T told me "since we have tried everything else-hard resets, replacement phones- and nothing worked, we will send you a battery since it's the only thing that has stayed persistent through this ordeal. We just got some in stock and are sending one your way. If the problem continues to persist, we will replace the phone again." IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!
Just curious, but what if I continue having this issue after I get my new battery? Should I try a similar mah zero lemon battery or just have att give me a different phone altogether?

i think there is an issue with the battery and whatever cable you use to charge the phone.I had to Lge980 when I used a thin cable I have in my room sometimes it did not charged at all and or shut down itself even when the battery had half charge ,sometimes it showed full charged but if I plugged the phone to a thicker cable connected using the oem charger or a usb 3.0 port at my laptop it showed the real charge level at 1/4 charge.I myself could't do anything since I got the phone second hand but as long as I used thick cable connected to a oem charger usb 3.0 or eben 2.0 I had no had any issues.
how'd it go?

If you want to stay on stock i recommend going to jellybean TOT 10k and rooting and installing a custom recovery back up the rom, and flash hkfriends kernel, and see what happens if you raise or lower your phones voltage, that might be the problem with it rebooting.
THE NEW BATTERY SOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT ONLY FOR A SHORT TIME. I upgraded to an HTC One M8 since, and haven't had hardly any problems with it, aside from the death star's BS

Thanks for the response. I talked to the techs at an AT&T direct service center and they told me it's a common problem with the Optimus Pro. I'm on my third one in 8 months now and this one started randomly powering off within 15 minutes of when I took it out of the box three days ago.

Yeah. My issue was the battery for sure. Make them replace the battery and it should temp solve the issue
From what I read on the first e980 i had these phone tend to have a hardware problem where the power button is creating the same issues as OP. Some refurbished e980s have the hardware problem solved.

[Q] Brand New Note 3 problem

Hi guys, I have a weird problem and I need your advice.
My brand new galaxy Note 3 Sm-N900T is having screen blackouts....
Its like after the screen timeout the screen goes off and then when I press the power button it doesn't go back on again.
Or if I turn the screen off it doesn't go back on again... the buttons are working the sounds are on, I can answer calls and everything but the screen is black.
If I play with it (pressing power or home buttons) for a while it comes back on. Sometimes the phone restarts (rarely, I think because i press power button).
I have tried everything from playing with settings to wiping the cache and resetting the phone few times.
It looks like its a software issue to me, or maybe sensor.. but i think that when power button is pressed the screen should turn on regardless of sensors.
I do have the custom S-Case but I had the issue even before I got that.
Now.. I have few choices :
1. Go to t-Mobile and get a replacement.. probably refurbished, not a fact that the problem will away because I heard of lots of people having this issue ...
I of course do not want to do that.. I have this phone for less than a month.
2. Wait for KitKat....
3. install some kind of custom rom and see if problem goes away.
If anyone can help, Id really appreciate it.
I would do an exchange.. you paid good money for it and a defect is a defect, I wouldn't depend on a 3rd party patch for this

go to the store for change this defective note.
This may be jelly bean bug... Lots and lots of people report the same problem...
If I replace my piece I will probably get a refurbished one with a great chance of having this or some kind of another problem......

sucks man.
I know on my htc onei have the purple camera problem but everything else was fine. they had to send me 2 replacements because the first one had a yellow screen and worse camera then mines.
Tmobile doesnt even check there replacement. Most of the time there phones that people traded in. And all they do with those is a power on check.
Now if you just got the phone and within the 14 exchange you can take it to the store and get a brand new one.
Had it for more than 2 weeks now.. since i was always playing with it i did not notice the problem .. (the screen was always on).
I called Samsung and Tmobile. I told tmobile that samsung said i have a defective phone. so Tmobile is sending me a "Like new" phone meaning that someone returned it within 14 days. I get to check it and if i dont like it i will just send them their phone back. and suddenly mine doesnt do the problem for 30 minutes lol.. maybe it got scared. Personally i think that KitKat would fix it.
Any force closes? I had this problem too untill I stopped using the crapy My Magazine bloatware, which was also sometimes force closing...
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
No, no force closes, but one time it was funny, a little bit of status bar appeared from the bottom and on top it was a little bit cutoff.... like someone slid the screen up few pixels.
And whatever was cut just came from the bottom. Its weird... for $700 phone it should be flawless... I hope they dont send me crap phone and i hope they dont send my phone to someone else.
How can i get rid of it to see if that was the problem?
My phone works perfect and I had if since the first week they came out. .. It's not a jellybean thing you phone has a problem. ..

I figured id try to reflash (not data reset, but reflash via Kies) so far so good no problem.
The whole thing looks like soft prob, not hard.
If it comes back Ill let you know. This could be a nice fix if works.
I'm in nyc, and my local store called the warrenty center and got me a brand new SGS2 one time. It still had all the blue plastic in the sim card and sd card slots, and plastic on the screen. So I'm know they can request it, just depends on your store if they are willing.

My sgs2 had problems out of the box. After I installed custom ROM they went away. It does happen. Restored stock via Odin, still no problems. Sometimes the software doesn't flash correctly from the manufacturer.

Well, I dont know what to think anymore... Looks like the problem persists but happens so rare that without the past I wouldnt notice it.
This makes me believe that with KitKat it will probably disappear. If soft changes cause this to go away or be less it means (to me) that the phone is not defective. New phone is still on the way, to bad I did not purchase it at local store... I did it online, so there is no one to yell at.
It will arrive on Feb 6th so I have plenty of time to test my phone, with some luck KitKat will roll out during this time and then I will be able to definitely see. And if new phone is cool I have the option of exchange anyway .
Thank you all for your help, keep posting, its an interesting issue.
:/
Phone went worse and worse everyday ... now the S-Pen "Air Command" doesnt pop up, several weird disfunctions...
Waiting for the replacement.
