I have the black AT&T Note 4 32GB and I consistently have about 2 and 15 hours of screen on time. I have a apps that monitor apps and no app seems be taking abnormal amounts of usage. Also the apps say my battery health is good and this phone is only about 5 months old. Even with turning screen brightness to min and turning off any signal using services I can't get pass 2 Hours and 30 minutes. The phone's running Android 5.1 although the problem persisted with Android 4.4 too. Please help me as I want to make sure I know what the problem is before returning the phone or buying a new battery.
Try charging the phone, power off and on, then remove from charger after the phone boots into android. This helps a bit with my battery life. Try disabling advanced LTE options in mobile networks as well. This is a bit subjective, but does the phone get hot?

The method didn't make any noticeable difference. I never have advanced mode on as well. My phone only gets hot (not warm) when I'm charging my phone but during heavy game-play or intense YouTube resolution video it's barely even warm. Sorry if I'm not giving you enough info. Just came from an iPhone and to be honest. It's battery life is disappointing.

It seems like the wifi is constantly scanning even when connected to a network. Wouldn't this be big drain on the battery and is there any way to stop it?

It must be that it is only constantly scanning when on that settings page, because it isn't a big drain on battery.
I notice it is also scanning for wifi even though im completly connected, but im still getting great battery use out of it.

I posted this same issue to the Sprint forum and a tech responded that he will add it to the bug list for the next MR as he could see it too. Not sure if is scanning when not on the settings page, but at any rate, it seems like it should stop scanning if it has a hold of a network.
How do you check for this? May be relevant in my case...
Note, i posted this in the battery life thread - suspecting a wifi issue of some sort:

I had to plug it in around 8:30 as you can see.
My wifi was on all day and connected, since I didn't leave the house.
I've changed the wifi sleep setting today, so we'll see if that makes a change.
The only other thing I changed yesterday was from the stock wind weather live wallpaper to a koi Pond live wallpaper, good reviews and no mention of battery issues that I saw).
I'm suspecting the wifi but interested to hear any "eureka" discoveries.
Other days, i'm at work fairly long hours and had wifi off most of the day at least, and thought my battery life has been good... Still 50% or 60% left at 8 or 9 pm.

Edit:
Note how the precipitous battery drop corresponds to when wifi was turned on in the morning.
I can't believe this would be simply coincidental.
I have that issue to, but great battery life. My biggest concern is horrible 3g speeds. My wifes evo does not have this issue.

This phone is only lasting me about 8 hours before my battery will die. What can I do to help out my battery?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
download an app call battery calibration, then after a full night of charging, go to that app and calibrate with the charger plug still in, after its done reboot phone and take it off the charger. drain the battery until it shuts off by itself. charge it back up while its off. then continue to use as normal. wait a couple days to see if the battery gets any better. my phone doesnt last too long either, im thinking of replacing the battery to see if thats the problem
Try removing some apps, that worked for me there was some apps that were sucking up my battery.

slap on a extended battery!
Kiss it three times, say two Hail Mary's and toss it over your left shoulder.
No seriously, battery life is very dependent on many things, and your statement doesn't come close to providing enough information for anyone to give you any real help. At minimum you need to provide the following during your 8 hours ...
- Total Display on time
- Brightness setting
- What you have auto syncing and how often
- Average signal strength
- Usage pattern (web browsing, calls, streaming video, etc.)
- Widgets on your home screens
- Screenshots of your battery usage and graph
My phone will also last around 8 hours if im constantly using it.
Thanks everyone for the responses. I will try out all the advice.

With moderate use, I get about 20 hours. With heavy use I get about 10-12. It's still enough to get me through the day

Researched a bit and heard cell standby could be the issue, are mine normal? Can't tell.
How long was it off the charger for? Also I would be more worried about wifi, if your actually using wifi then yeah leave it turned on but if you're letting the phone just sit there I would try turning it off but I don't user wifi so I'm not sure. You can also try turning the brightness settings down.other then that it looks normal to me.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Brightness is always below 50%,I keep around 25%.
So 2 hours off the charger, wifi on and idle,87% is normal? Everytime I turn it on just to check the battery it drops 2%, I don't think that's normal.
Honestly that's probably normal if you were away for an hour or so or if you left wifi on. Battery life also depends on which kernel you're using as well.

I'm using DooMKernel v14
Installed Juice Defender, did some tests and just after I unplug, it took a while to go down to 99% took 10 minutes while watching YouTube on 3G but as it got down to 95 % the battery just drains quickly , went to 85% in 5 minutes while browsing the web

i noticed the same thing
i lost my old charger so i bought a new one and thats when i first started having this issue.
phone would seem to charge faster than before but died faster as well when using this charger. (this was my work charger). at home i use laptop to charge and takes longer but lasts longer.
also noticed phone got warmer when charging at work. so i returned that charger and got a different one and problem solved.
so if your using a different charger recently a new one may help
WiFi seems the culprit. Maybe Google how to set the wifi scanning interval

I'll try a different charger. The phone does get hot when plugged in.
Better Battery stats.
I'll bet one of your apps (a wifi app) isnt sleeping, and thats why you are losing the battery.
Just got my s3 like a week or so. I made a mistake and not charge it initially (thought it was a myth). I used my battery all the way to 17%. Now my battery only average up to 2 hours screen on. My sister who also got the phone as the same time has about right hour screen on time. Did I screw up or it's just my battery being defective
EDIT: attached is the battery stats

Well, when I'm in door, I use low brightness most of the time. Only when I'm outside I would use auto brightness. Since I'm in wifi zone most of the time, yes I do have wifi on. I mostly use my phone for twitter, web browsing, and youtube, nothing heavy like gaming or benchmark.
Hard to say if its defective but I've definitely seen a lot better battery. It might not hurt to try and get a new one.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
you should calibrate your battery a couple times once you get the phone. do it a couple times and it will fix itself. also check all your syncing settings. this phone will deplete a battery in 5-6 hours if fully charged and phone brightness is up all the way while watching videos.
Calibrating batteries is a myth from the days of older battery technology. Draining your battery to 0 on purpose is actually killing your battery faster because you just used up one cycle.

There's a bug on stock that makes cell standby much higher than it really is. So I wouldn't worry too much about that.
Also, Google Chrome is a huge battery killer for some reason. Consider switching to a different browser?
Still having the original battery in my vibrant and getting 8-9 hour charges while killing the battery 100% and charging it up once a week does nothing? Same thing for my g2x. I get about 10-11 hours on the thing daily original battery as well. If anything and you're not rooted to delete battery stats, its a good thing to do a couple times. I don't think I have hurt the battery at all, and if anything they still last very long...

Obviously I'm aware that the culprit is lookout.. i do like the services offered by lookout and would like to keep them. Disabling lookout does fix the problem but I'm wanting to hear potential causes and/or fixes..
Thanks for your time.
Which of the features does it offer you "like". Many times there are other alternatives for those "features" without the drain.
Im using lookout with no major battery drain. Looks like your wifi was on all the time. Low wifi signal may cause for wifi radio to broadcast with higher power. Smart stay will trigger camera every few seconds. Personally I use "Screebl" from play store - it keeps screen on by checking if phone is not laying flat. Install "better battery status" (need root for that) and it will allow you to see which app or service keep phone awake. Turn on power saving mode. In settings turn off wifi while sleep mode.

Thanks to those who replied. . However none of the answers have helped. .
Like I said, I am hoping to keep lookout as an unrooted stock user .. for now.
What isn't adding up is the fact that most users are reporting no issues with lookout draining battery..
So why am I having problems ??
As for weak wifi, that's not an issue.
Other ideas ??
I had the exact same issue. The only way for me to stop that was to uninstall it unfortunately

I keep finding Play Music running on its own and eating battery quite often. Maybe that's the culprit? Was happening lately on my Note 2 as well.
I had this issue just after using Root de la Vega. My battery was going completely dead after about 4 hours with light use and the phone was getting really warm like the CPU was pegged the whole time. I did a factory reset and have all the same apps installed and my phone now makes it easily through a 10 hour workday and 45 minute commute with heavy use (5h screen time). Try that if you haven't.
