I got the notification for an update, 1 of 2. About 86 mb, said it was firmware. Working on uploading now to Google drive. I'm on twrp so I can't install it and get the second one yet. I'll try to do so later at work

Looks like just flash the zip? The last line in the update script reads...
write_firmware_image("PACKAGE:firmware.zip", "zip");

I would usually flash the firmware.zip through fastboot.
Can it be done from my phone or need a pc.

That's what I'm wondering as well
I believe that you would have to be on a computer. Packages like this are made to be flashed through fastboot which requires a computer to do manually. Developers "repackage" them to make them flashable through rooted recoveries.

That's what I originally figured, I'm waiting on somebody to take the OTA to confirm whether it relocks the boot loader or not.

Also, You have to have stock recovery for the update to even work fyi.
I'm at work and will have time soon to flash this. Might have to revert to stock recovery though first. I'll get back to you, hopefully I can get the actual OTA downloaded and uploaded this evening.

this is true. but if the OTA package is installed the first thing it will do is replace hboot and recovery. (thats why sometimes you have to flash the ruu twice, first time will do hboot, recovery, firmware. second will be the rom) if you fastboot flash you dont need stock recovery. it will be installed regardless.
Nevertheless i would wait for Santod040 to do his work. if you flash now, the boot.img will make system non RW and you will loose root. the boot img needs to be modified or removed and its not as easy as unziping the firmware to remove it.

That would be awesome. I'm already unlocked boot loader and s-off , i thought it would b as simple as flashing stock 4.4.3 Rom and recovery, then taking OTA. And then flashing twrp and supersu , I thought for sure I was right about that, but there are many here who r far more experienced than me here, so please share your findings, it'll b MUCH appreciated!

So after a long wait and a lot of people asking about it. Here is the full 6.01.605.05 Verizon Wireless OTA. Packaged with the new kernel. The only thing that has been done to it is it is rooted, busybox installed and init.d support enabled. This ROM is still odexed and I've uploaded 2 versions.
1 is full stock with all the apps as if you just got it (with the exception of SU being added.
The other has most of the VZW apps removed.
Feel free to use this ROM as you wish. Use it as a base or whatever. There may be add-ons at some point but I'm not promising them

Nice - maybe this will help solve the weird shut-down/boot problem my wife's phone just started doing today. I can't stand all that VZW bloat (wish that ICS was out for this phone).
Would you mind breaking GSM support? I don't need it, and I already miss the complaints.

Thanks for this CS. It is always nice to run stock. It would be great to see some add-ons at some point if you get a chance, but no big deal if you don't get to them. Thanks for the ROM.
Im going to try this for a while...I prefer stock ROM's.
Maybe try to get rid of some more bloatware as well - ill post the findings. lol.
My wife's phone got the OTA update. It already downloaded so I just had the file name, showing it is in cache:

But based on other OTA updates for Yakju it appears that I can put the normal first part of the url in front of it, so download link is: http://android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_maguro/6c7ff815e7762f651ad6f8c74e5cb281093f1e0b.signed-yakju-JWR66V-from-JDQ39.6c7ff815.zip

Thank you!
Have you problem with the new SuperSU?
I have read this: "Be careful with that version of SuperSU. It is not yet stable (on the N4 at least). There is an issue where for some reason (and we haven't figured it out yet), you lose root, and the daemonsu process starts eating up ~70%+ of your CPU time. Battery dies pretty quick. "

@sakis_the_fraud
I've had already CWM installed, I'm assuming you also have it:

2.- backup
3.- flash OTA zip
4.- flash superSU

Adb sideload worked fine and I didn't lose any data.

Tried to apply update via cwm, but get the same error as posted above. How to fix this?
Hey!
I have to send my phone back to AT&T because the microphone isn't working. I had an unlocked boot loader and was rooted with TWRP and Arhd. I got back to stock yesterday by restoring a stock nandroid I had made in TWRP before I flashed ARHD, flashing a stock recovery, and relocking my boot loader. However, Super su refuses to leave my app drawer. I do the perma unroot option in the menu and it works until I restart the phone. Then it shows back up. It might be that I need a stock kernel but I don't know
Please help! Thanks!
You probably need to do unroot with twrp installed since it relies on a custom recovery to write to system partitions

So I need to unlock the bootloader and flash TWRP again and then it will work? Once I do that, do I just do the regular perma unroot in super su?

Why would su change your kernel?
Sorry I think I missed one of your posts earlier. I was at work and distracted while trying to help you. Su is just administrative access. The application only manages what apps can and cannot have administrative access.

To elaborate (and make it easier to find in TiBu), that's com.motorola.ccc.ota, or "MotorolaOTA 1.0".
I'm freezing, too, as it'd be easier to RSD back to stock than to manually put it back together if I wanted to update (in other words, I'm lazy).
I am curious, though, on what exactly the update changes/fixes. D'oh, I missed coronado's post.

You can try it when an official API22 Xposed Installer apk and or API22 supporting method or released.
If you have the OB7 bootloader, you can go back for lollipop or KitKat Xposed. Otherwise wait for it.

I did try the official API22 Xposed Installer apk and or API22 supporting method and put into a boot loop so at this time I would say Xposed wont work on Samsung OG5 at this time. If you have gotten this to work please let us know.

If you tried romracer's API22, that wont work, youll have to wait on arter's API22, which i dont believe is out yet.
Yep, still just the v65 SDK21 for krait currently. Gonna have to wait a bit.

I wasn't sure if the API22 official was out when I posted (forgot) but knew the workaround we use with API21 didn't support API22.

So are you saying that xposed works on 5.1.1 if you have the OB7 bootloader?

no he's saying that if you have the OB7 bootloader you can always go back to a previous version of touchwiz that supports Xposed. (i.e. if you updated to 5.1.1 by flashing a zip, but not updating the bootloader to OG5)

How do you check what version of bootloader you have?

About device and check the software version. The last 3 characters correspond to the bootloader

Actually Galaxy Tools is a better indicator. On my phone with OG5 modem and Beastmode kernel and stock OB7 ROM with stock OB7 build.prop, the software version shows up as OG5, but build and Android version say OB7 and 5.0.1.
But since some developers edit the build field on build.prop, Galaxy Tools is more accurate regarding the bootloader.
