[Q] MeanBean 2.0 On t889 - Just a few problems - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi ,
My Device: Note 2 t889
A) I started with 4.3 stock rom, tried to flash JediMasterx2 3 times, it fails to install OS every time.
Next I flashed MeanBean 2.0 - perfect install 1st try! It runs fast and smooth but has AT&T system apps I want to remove if they are not necessary.
1) AT&T "Smart" Wifi
2) AT&T Messages,
3) myAT&T 2.0
When I open Contact sometimes I get a popup:
"AT&T address book checking subscriber information"
this happens once after a reboot. I have to cancel out of it then Contacts works normally. What app is causing this? Can I remove it?
I tried to use Titanium Backup to remove AT&T Messages but it just reboot to TWRP.
I managed to turned them off and did a force stop on them also.
B) Is "System app remover" from Play Store a good way to remove these AT&T apps?
Is it safe to remove them?
C) MeanBean 2.0 Feature Request
It would be great if the connection status would show LTE status or does it and I am just not getting it? The T-Mobile stock 4.3 ROM registered LTE at my current location.
May I suggest some information regarding power toggles is added to a quick intro to your ROM I had spend way to much time figuring out that "power toggles" was the way to control the Notification panel ( swipe down - quick menu) I would not mind helping with that, New user perspective and all
D) How do I remove of the large shortcut icons at the top of the Notification panel? I would rather have the "power toggles" there.
I hope this is not too much for one post
Thanks
RP

I'm sorry to tell you that Rom is no longer supported ok. So good luck with it. Use root explorer to remove what you don't want ok.

[Q] LT15i, out of options?

Details of handset:
LT15i, Android 2.3.3, Build 3.0.1.A.0.145, no SIM lock
I have this handset for about a year. It was never working smooth and I was surprised it was much worse than my desire when it comes to processing speed.
Well I've accepted it for the design reason.
Within time, processing speed degraded, phone been relatively cool at the back but was getting more and more often - restarts. Last week it crashed - after restart many icons and widgets were missing from he screen, most importantly some parts of the screens are not available any more to add there icon or widget - looks being occupied. When trying to hold-and drag -this eventually invisible element- normal menu appears to ad shortcut, widget etc...
Yesterday I've rooted phone, removed unwanted bloatware, but al problems remained [speed didn't increase]
Then I've checked can I unlock Boot Manager, by typing the service code - and I can't [no info in the menu]
My questions:
1. Is this all I can do about self-BM unlocking?
2. Can I still update old Adroid edition with flashtool-0.9.0.0 ?
2a. If yes what is [eventually] the best to update handset with
3. I found this info
http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-arc-root-install-clockworkmod-recovery-77812/
it took me to this guide from this site
http://www.androidauthority.com/xpe...4-0-3-ics-mooded-aokp-aroma-custom-rom-93028/
Will I have benefit from installing CWM without unlocked BootLoader? Will I be able to install this ROM?
3a. Do I risk anything by copying this files directly into SYSTEM directory?
4. Can I do at this stage- "Factory reset" ? [after rooting]
5. Can I do at this stage- FOTA update? [after rooting]
6. What is gonna happen if I will try BL unlocking - even service menu says It is unlockable?
thank you for any help in sorting this one out
I have still 1 y of contract on this one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
After last long night I can answer some of this Q
1. More can be done
2. Yes
2. 4.0.4 ICS was the newest firmware I could find - and that could be rooted [important as I wanted to re-install apps from old System - with Titanium BAckup- and use handset without major interruption]
3. Installing apk didn't get me CWM - didn't try anything else
4. ?
5. From what I have read, FOTA after root is OK, but only if Sony's bloatware wasn't removed
6. ?

[ATT/TMO/SPR + more] [Aroma De-Bloater] v1.00 Updated 11.17.2012

mrRobinson Note II De-Bloater
This is a fancy little Aroma Installer you can flash in CWM or TWRP and choose all the bloatware you want to remove from your system.
For any Galaxy Note II variant!
There are a few main selections.
Minimal de-bloat will remove everything that is recommended to remove.
Full de-bloat will remove everything that anyone would want to remove without breaking the system.
Individual sections for carrier, ATT, Sprint, Tmobile, More will be added...
Customize de-bloat lets you pick inter-matching between all the sections.
Most of you should choose "Custom". This will show you the lists with Recommended all being selected already and the deeper de-bloat apps being unselected. You can modify as you see fit.
Please take note, you can "flash" this in CWM and it will do nothing until you make your selections and then tell it to. So you can safely flash it, go to custom and peruse around at all the apps it can remove. If you want to do nothing simply bring up the menu and quit the installer.
HOW TO USE:
*Note, this will wipe cache and dalvik-cache for you so you don't have to.
Boot into recovery, from power off [hold vol.up + Home + power] until phone vibrates then release
Select Custom to modify selections of what is removed
click "de-bloat" button
thats it
Aroma info
*scrolling and/or touch can be off at times. No matter where you are volume keys can be used to scroll around, the back and menu keys function as expected and home or power buttons can be used to select.
Download: mrRobinson_Note_II_De_Bloater.v1.00.zip
Feedback: Please let me know if you would like more apps added to the minimal or full list. As long as they don't cause unnecessary FC's I'll add them.

This is good. Tks op
Well yes this is good. I wasn't able to test it and there have been almost 100 downloads now so I assume I at least had no syntax errors in the aroma. :good:
If you have apps left you think can go please let me know their exact name in system/app and your device (att, tmo, spr).
I just ran it on my stock rom. And it did nothing apps are still there.

make sure the apps that are still there weren't updated from market. if they were this removed them from system but their update will still reside in /data/app so you will want to remove it from there.
Working on re-bloat option... restoring apps you removed. Might even be able to add "disable" option first so you can safely test what you want to remove.

I'm looking forward to this feature.
Great work!
the debloat froze when it got to Yahoo news & weather for me. I had to do a battery pull. when the phone rebooted it seemed fine. I went back into the debloat and did a custom debloat and just unchecked Yahoo news & weather and it worked fine. this was on a Tmobile note II.
Well yes this is good
Thanx for this! Nice for those that just want to stay stock... and just remove the junk.

Can not wait for the option to add system apps as I have a great Rom but it only doesn't have group cast.

it will only be able to add if you had debloated them with this tool. in other words it will copy them off to your sd card so anything you had removed you have the option to put back on. if you flash a sep rom with stuff already removed that wouldn't help you in this case. someone can just post that apk for you.
I must be missing something how to use this.
Can we add Rogers to the list so we can remove all the Rogers bloat ware. There's like 6 bloat apps by Rogers.

Yea I can add those.
Will running this delete my personal settings and data?
Great tool, but several apps were not removed:
MediaHub
AT&T Navigator
MobileHotspot
S Suggest
myAT&T
I definitely remember checking mediahub to be removed, but I'm not sure if the other apps are listed in the de-bloater.
None of these apps were updated. Haven't done anything beyond rooting and installing CWM. In fact, my Google account hasn't even been setup. Why? I'm in the process of switching from Sprint Galaxy Note 2 to the AT&T version.
bump more people try this!
I tried it and went to custom. However many were prechecked. For a custom I expect it to not be prechecked. Also, how do I exit? I had to uncheck everything and pray nothing happened when I continued.

Teethering is Crashing Settings App - Newbie Needs Expert Advice - Help!

I know... it's tethering, not teething, lol.
SHG-I747 AT&T
Installed JB 4.1.1 via Kies
Installed CW Recovery - pulled batter - installed Team Epic Root
All Good
Installed Titanium Backup Pro
Uninstalled Tethering Provision (to disable check for AT&T Tethering Plan)
Unisntalled Bloatware per list in first post of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728126
Not realizing the Tethering toggle was built-in to Settings > Advanced > Tethering I downloaded WiFi Tethering for Root, wouldn't show up on network selecting Auto and S3 profiles.
Try a couple others (supposedly not requiring root), one crashed "stopped working" when launching but SSID showed up on network and blue tether icon showed up in status bar. Another launched without crashing, blue icon in status bar. Both I can connect to via my Windoes 8 computer but get a status of "Limited" with no Internet access. Apps on phone show the computer is connected.
Here's the major problem. If I just uninstall all the tethering apps and go into Settings > Advanced > Tethering and try to toggle wifi or USB tethering the settings app itself crashes "settings app has stopped working"
I did a TB backup of the apps prior to all this, but then did another TB backup late last night. So that tethering provisioning things can't restored as it appears, at least default, the TB backup overwrites the previous backup instead of making an incremental backup.
I'm at a loss what to do. This is my first Android device. The Sys Admin gut in me says I need to start from scratch (reinstall stock ROM, reinstall CW recovery.. bla bla bla.) But not sure how to even do that (can I even use Kies now that CW recovery is on there or do I need to find the stock rom file and copy to the internal memory and use CW recovery or use Odin to flash stock ROM - hoping I don't need to reflash ROM, will take forever to reinstall my apps and settings in trying to solve Tether crash!)
In desperate need of some advice.
Soultion is a newer hacked version of Wifi Tether for Rooted user that is not on the Play Store and the apk has to be downloaded directly. Current version is here:

What a pain in the ass it took to finally find this. The problem is all the posts and methods out there essentially became defunct when the JB 4.1.1 update came out a few days ago yet you still have users unknowingly recommending the same methods because they were still on ICS. Guess that's the price you pay when you are brand new to Android and an OS update comes out two weeks after you got your phone and you install it the day it comes out. Sigh.
Ugh. Got too excited too quick. You can't toggle Wifi back on after shutting down tethering without restarting phone! Guess it's going to be a few more days until some good developers come out with a simple one-app solution without issues. It was WAY easier to get free tethering on the jailbroken iPhone that this. I'm shocked this is so hard right now on Android JB 4.1.1. But I have to remember the OS update just came out.

Missing data toggle. Android M, cant fix with QuickPanel Rst and quickdatatoggle.apk

My s6 sprint have Android M but i cant fix missing data toggle on quickpanel. I try use Quickpanel restore on Galaxy apps and quickdatatoggle.apk on XDA but still dont work. Help me, Screenshot: imgur.com/VofBqTk
My new account so cant upload image. Sorry
Same here! I tried everything and still can't have data mobile on quickpanel
There is another app available here on XDA that worked when my S6 was on version 5, but doesn't work on version 6 now. Bummer...
can't we restore it using xposed??
Ive looked the past few days. I havnt seen anything about a data toggle. That one worked for me on 5.1.1 stock rom quickpanelrestore.apk v1.3. once i was on the teamspr rom that didnt work.
Dont lose hope there is another way to get it with sqlite editor. Im still a nooby justa flashing stuff lol but ive read about that somewhere.
Any solutions guys?
Same problem as me. Is there anyone have a solution?
waitting........
Missing toggles
You might try installing GToools 3.15 or 3.18, then down at the bottom choose to enable all notification toggles. Or you could also check this thread

Same
Same problem here, any solutions yet?
Well theres gota be a way i see other model S6's on MM roms with a nice data toggle lol. I WILL ask the rom makers how they got those extra toggles
Hey guys.
Facing same problems in Canadian Galaxy S7 Edge. No Data toggle at all. Bought a quick panel setting with edge, Mobile Data toggle shows up there but unfortunately clicking it takes you to the Data Usage.
Contacted Samsung and they say that the Canadian S7 Edge does not have this feature and it cannot be fixed!! C'mon Samsung!!
XDA support please......
Have you tried this: http://www.sammobile.com/2016/03/29...screen-for-your-galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge/
Not available for Canadian Galaxy store yet!

There is a direct download link in the article for the APK: http://www.sammobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/GoodLock.rar
Download that compressed file and extract, install the APK.
I can't verify that it will work for you as I already have the toggle, but people did report that it worked.
I can't install this app on my Canadian S7 Edge.
It installs fine, phone reboots, new lock screen shows up but then it reboots back by itself with the old lock screen...
any solutions?
Though it pops up with saying "The device will restart" & there is no option but to click "okay". And then finally it reboots with old skin

weird firmware update issue wifi vs data

I have the N975U1 USA unlocked and when I try to check for a software update via wifi in setting it just shows checking an does not finish. There also a very quick pop up that occurs sometimes that says firmware firmware restriction or something like that ... it's so quick I can't read.
When I check via mobile data it works 100 percent and the most recent update I had to check and take off wifi check via data . Put back on wifi to download the update then finally take it back off to install it ..
I did do a cache clear via recoverery ... Please help

This advice might help a bit..
Regarding, the toast pop up that you can't read, you can either install "Nice Catch" which is part of Samsungs, Good Lock app.
If you can't download, Good lock app from
Galaxy Store then you can download /sideload, the stand alone apk, from Apkmirror web site.
Then manually install apk .
Please note if you sideload app, it won't show in app drawer. You have to use a shortcut method
eg Nove Launcher /(then long press on desktop screen .) /Nova widgets / activities , search for" Nice catch" and create short cut,. to desktop screen. Then tap on it and configure.
Otherwise, you can download an app from Play Store
eg. "Toast Source" (free app) etc.
This method is maybe faster and less hassle.?
If any of these above apps are enabled it will "catch/record" all you toasts as notifications and also save the toast pop-ups.
It might not solve you issue directly, but at least it is a start
to read the popup toast?
See screenshots
Good luck.
Will try thanks
This is what I saw ... it's from a app device info

I'm not sure how explain this......
but is you phone not a company device or has device some rental agreement , plan etc.
I have read on past post on XDA forums that members could not update, as their devices were "locked" ...?
Otherwise did you use any app like eg... App Disabler Pro etc etc.
That you disable an app and it has a knock on effect.?
Bottom line,
you now have a reason why not updating..
as toast says something "systems" is disable.?
Good luck..
yeah i might have to do a hard reset to see if that helps

Well toast says "systemfs" is disabled.
Well i personally can't disable it on my device as device is
stock not rooted etc. Also i have not used any disabler app.
For the "sysfs... @ systemfs??? " to be disabled, I'm sure you have to be rooted...?
or as stated above, you disabled some system app with a eg "Disabler Pro" app. etc.
Bottom line. again ..
Hopefully a factory reset should rectify the relevant system error..
Somehow it got corrupted.
Good luck.
