Twice it had about 65% dink it went off and would not power up only when I put in the charger it booted up.
I was on 55% yesterday same thing.
it happened when browsing forum and listening to music with supplied headphones.
the sound is like when you put an audio jack into a stereo when it's powered up as in a static crackle.
does this happen to anyone else?

Not that I have experienced so it maybe just your device. Sounds awful that it powers off, sorry to hear that. If it continues to happen consistently then get it replaced under warranty.
Getting my replacement tomorrow hope it doesn't turn out like my one plus.

If not recieving update via Android, then DL OTA from OTA thread and apply the update manually from recovery. This is how I did it. It wasn't offered through Android.

Oh no, me too, it just happen recently, randomly shut down fone immediately
Mine got stuck in a boot loop with major screen artifacts. Might be a similar issue.
I went for a replacement instead of a refund, so I hope this doesn't turn out to be a common issue.

i think it's problem with battery calibration in zenfone, it lost power because no battery left (but it still shows wrong value, such as 50%, 60%, ...) , many users experience this http://www.asus.com/zentalk/tw/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=79049

Dear,
I have a problem, and I'm not sure if it's possible to fix. I have a X01HT that I flashed many times. From some days ago (I think), it produces a really annoying "whistle" (like a 'piiiiii') that destroyed my ears . I thought that it was a problem of any program, so I try to hard-reset, and also Flash another ROM (even another Radio), but nothing changes. Even after a Hard-reset, the sound never disappear (><) Any idea?
Thanks
César
Is the whistle on in bootloader? In standby?
Have you checked using loud speaker and same noise?
Have you tried muting the volume?what happens?

It is all the time the device is ON: since I press the button and it turns ON until It turns OFF, no matter what it's doing: (rebooting, in bootloader after hard reset, with IExplore, etc.).

Mute the volume is the same; the noise is there.
Also, I notice that I can hear the noise real more stronger when I have the screen in front of me (If I'm looking to the back of the device, I almost can't hear anything).

Then it's just the phone speaker, not the loudspeaker at the back.
I would ask what happens to the noise when you plug in the headphones, but it's a hardware problem anyway, so repair center it is.
We use some Symbol PPT8800 series PocketPC devices (runs PPC2003) and some of our units start making those noises, after heavy use. But generally its shortly before they go pop, I'm afraid to say.
Hope yours is something else.

I plug the headphones, and it's the same.
I also imagine that it's hardware problem (><)
I had the same problem (AT&T Branded 8525) started after I'd had it only 3-4 Months. I'd purchased two and flashed them with same ROM's however, I only had this problem out one. Spoke to AT&T's division of HTC warranty center. End result...it was hardwar problem. They shipped a replacement device @ not cost to me. Problem fixed.
so as far as i can see there is no home made solution for this?
try removing the battery and try and turn on the phone without the battery (it won't go on) for about 10sec this will drain any remaining power in the circuits. Then reinstall the battery and see if that fixes it.
Chris
It sounds like you are having the same problem I have with my 8525. It's probably not your speakers but more your LCD screen.
There have been a lot of complaints about this, with no easy fix other than to send it in and get it repaired/replaced and alot of the times the replacements have the same problem.
I've learned to live with it by turning off the screen when I am on the phone.

Hi
Just got this phone as an insurance replacement and really like it except that the phone gets really hot when using mobile data and then won't wake from sleep. I'm assuming its a heat issue. Using the B112 version of the software. Initially I though it was because it was rooted but even after a reset and un-rooted it's still happening. Think I've pinned it down to it happening when mobile data is switched on but there maybe another issue. Any ideas or advice gratefully recieved. Thanks

Not an answer, but I use mine on full brightness with mobile data on whenever I'm outdoors and browsing, haven't had any issues. Running 116SP01 on O2 in the UK. You could try switching ROM versions and if it still does it flash back to 112 then return it as a faulty replacement?

Think I've pinned it down to screen brightness. Gamed for a good 2 hours last night on half brightness. The phone got hot but I was able to wake it from sleep as normal. Possible that the screen on full brightness generates too much heat when doing something intensive? May try the 117 rom this weekend. Thanks

Try B119. You can flash this rom via update app in your phone.
Okay, so a little background. I was at the gym last night, warming up with jogging on a treadmill. While I was running, I was listening to music through these horrible, horrible headphones. When they are plugged in, sometimes the phone will skip tracks forward or backward for no reason whatsoever, even when I didn't press a button. This was happening last night at the gym, and then all of the sudden, I heard this static crack and my phone turned off. Now my phone won't turn back on. I have tried everything. The phone was charged to about 75%, was running the new unofficial CM12 ROM, and was perfectly fine before the headphones zapped the life out of my phone. I'm almost positive it had nothing to do with the ROM. I have tried almost everything to get it to turn back on, holding the power button for a full minute, the power up and volume down combo for a hard reset, letting the phone sit for a while, even letting it sit on the charger for a while. It won't even take a charge now. It's been a full 12 hours of phone inactivity. Any suggestions?
If it still does not power up, your choices are:
Instant replacement: Verizon store
If you have 6 days with another phone: get online with HTC and get warranteed
I've had better luck dealing with HTC directly. Third party refurbs have a bad reputation
on many posts all over.
Hope it suddenly starts so you can keep trucking...

So you think it's broken? It just seems weird for it to be broken after it was working perfectly fine. Plus, I am trying to buy a subsidized Nexus 6 through Verizon, but it's not in stores yet, so I don't want to get the phone replaced if I'm going to buy a new one. It's a dilemna

Hope it doesn't come to this: if it's dead, HTC owes you a warranty repair/replace. You don't want to be left
with a doorstop. Worst case: you get it fixed, treat new one like your Princess, then sell it on Swappa or EBay
when you get your hands on the Nexus 6.

I had the power button fail in mine. Drove me nuts too. In the end it wasn't all that terrible to replace and cost about $10. what happens if you sorta play with the power button and wiggle it etc...?
You are still getting the charge light too right?
Success! It finally charges now! It wouldn't charge before. For a whole day it wouldn't turn on with any button combo. For a whole day it wouldn't take any charge. Until now. I plugged it into my laptop and voila! The orange light started flashing, and it finally got to the point where the orange light is stable. It is currently now accepting charge from a power outlet, and I assume it will turn on. I'm not gonna push it yet though. But now it charges, so it will work! Thank god.
A valuable lesson was learned throughout this process (and it applies to daily life): never give up and always be persistent! Even if you have a good connection, and suddenly those connections break, you can still rebuild them again. You can still fix these connections (relationships in life) will a little hard work!
My phone just did this again. This time I'm guessing it is a bug with the unofficial CM12 Android 5.0 ROM on high volume. When my headphones are in and I'm playing music, usually at the highest volume, the phone sort of makes this weird static noise and then turns off. Hopefully this time my phone turns on, and hopefully it doesn't take a day and a half to accept a charge. I fixed it before by pluggin it into my laptop, but now that won't work. I guess it's a waiting game. Idk, I just hope it works
You sure its not your headsets causing the problems? I have ran the same ROM vol high using my klipsch earbuds and no issues. Will test again to see

I'm not totally sure. I mean it still could be. I hate these damn headphones. It's fairly annoying though tbh. I have no idea when it will be open to accepting a charge. I just kind of have to see if it'll turn on. I guess I can check again with another pair of headphones when groupon finally sends them. I'm just nervous that if it happens again, I'll have to wait again. Let me know what happens with your phone. Also, I'm open to any suggestions on how to turn my phone back on or charge it again. Thanks.

It depends. Like the first time it shut off I was listening to one song on full volume. Then after it finally booted up, I was listening to the same song on high volume and it turned off again, but that time it booted back up. This time however, I was listening to a different song and it happened. It's not really a matter of songs played, but rather which song is played. I'm not totally sure though. It's just stupid.
OK I played 4 songs now and did hear a buzzing sound but phone didn't shut off or anything. Remember this ROM is still alpha build status. You could try backing up your phone and flash another ROM and see if you can recreate the issue. That way you know for sure if it was ROM or headphone related
I've heard this buzzing in practically every aosp ROM for the m7. It isn't often but does happen occasionally. It had never caused a reboot or shutdown. My guess is that the headphones are bad. I would stop using those lol.
I guess it was the headphones. Finally got new ones, and everything is fine. I think 5.0 definitely aided it though. My phone turned back on a few nights ago, and I forgot to mention it. Every time I've had to wait almost exactly 24 hours to charge it again. It almost seems like a defense mechanism. But alas, it worked!

P.S. I am running on OxygenOS 3.1.3. Can someone confirm if they are facing the same problem? or after the update the issue is fixed? I havent received my update for 3.2.1 yet. I have only 3 days to return and ask for replacement. Please Help :crying:

Do you completely push in the headphones? or do you just insert it half the way? If I push the headphones completely inside there's no sound. I have to shake the cable little bit or pull it little outside from the jack.
Also how's the battery backup? I am facing crazy standby battery drain. I havent even inserted a sim card yet.
Can I return and ask for a replacement? Does my accidental warranty become void if I ask for a replacement?
Please help!!:crying:

I completely inserted the headphone jack in. Maybe it is a hardware fault with your unit if you have tried it with different headphones and they face the same problem, or the pair you use work without any issues on other phones.
I don't experience high standby drain. It drains around 2-5 % through the night. My phone is rooted but I don't have greenify or any other battery saving apps installed. Try factory resetting your Device and see if you face the same problem.
Battery backup depends on the usage but for my usage with a lot of youtube streaming, and instant messaging, Web browsing on wifi only I get around 5-6 hours of sot. With 4g and using it for navigation and normal Web browsing and messaging I get around 4-5 hours of sot.
I am also same facing same problem with one plus 3.
If I push the headphones completely inside there's no sound.
I have to shake the cable little bit or pull it little outside from the jack.

Any information about 7.1 ?
Pretty sure this update is the reason my phone just turns off randomly... Have to plug it into an OEM charger to get the phone to start back up. Battery drains naturally over time if I don't use the phone, but if I try to run apps, it randomly shuts off.

Sounds like similar situation that I have. If I leave the phone unattended + off the charger, it will be fine and gradually the battery will die. If I go to use apps, the phone will randomly shut down and require an OEM charger to be used again.
Later today I will be disassembling this phone to ensure nothing internal is loose, as it could be possible that something is nearly disconnected causing the phone to freak out. If I can't find a resolution, time for a new phone!

Hello! Not sure if I just got lucky, but my phone is now working fine after fully disassembling it and re-assembling it. My guess is that the battery pin connector gets loose over time.
Here are a few videos that will prove to be useful in your journey:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IYaFmbwFOA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ukUd6mPtew **Although this video is covering REPLACING the charging port, it also provides good info on how to ensure the power + volume up/down buttons go back in
---
It took be about 30 minutes to fully disassemble the phone. Some words of advice: MAKE SURE that all connectors are tightly secured and locked in place (to be locked in place, the black bar should be at the top of the connector -- I ended up putting the phone back together and the screen was all twitchy due to some loose connections). So, it may have totally been unrelated to this software update, as it SEEMS to be working for now. I did notice that my battery indicator is a bit out of whack after fully disassembling, so I'm going to let the battery drain all the way then fully charge it up again to see if that gets resolved by doing that as well.
Worth a shot -- I ended up having all the needed tools (heat gun / T4 and T5 screwdriver / spudger tool / something sharp like razor blade to peel off back cover).
time to buy a heat gun

Since applying this security patch my Droid Turbo 2 is now draining battery badly. I did a factory reset from within the Settings -> Backup & Reset thinking that might help. It seems to be draining equally fast even after doing that. I might make it 7 hours before its dead (it was easily lasting through the day with 30% or more charge left after 15 hours). The phone is always hot as well, even just sitting on my desk next to me.
Any thoughts as to doing a factory reset from Power + Volume down resulting in a difference? I am not super familiar with the difference between that type of reset and a Backup & Reset within the phone.

no as far as i know, both methods do the same thing. Having a factory reset option in recovery mode is handy when the phone cannot boot properly
Come on Motorola
You can't do this to me!
I bought this phone and it came with Nougat 7.0 and this happens?
Shutdowns randomly, Battery going down so fast.
OMG I regret getting it! and what's funny.. I can't do anything to fix this. I have just to sit there looking at my kinda-broken phone.
Thanks Moto.

There shouldn't be much of a difference, but if you believe the problem to be software related, I suggest doing the Power + Volume down option and DO NOT add back your gmail account (which will sync your contacts/apps/photos/etc.) until thoroughly testing the device. It might just be an app causing it, but more than likely this damn update. All of my problems started after the update as well, so I don't know if phone manufacturers release specific updates to force user's to upgrade, but it's BS. Even moreso because you can't rollback to an older version of Android as the Bootloader is locked and nobody has cracked it.
Moto X Force (XT580) have not recieved any update after the Last N update , securiy patch is still as before. Good to se Verizon is updating , hope Motorola/Lenovo rolls out the same
Looks like the Update has HIT the Moto X Force (XT1580) finally..The version looks diffrent from the verizon dt2. Hope it brings improvement to device:fingers-crossed::laugh:
Hi everyone -
I replaced my battery in my Droid Turbo 2 about 1.5 weeks ago, and it has appeared to resolved my issue. If you are having random shutdown issues after this update, you might just also been plagued with a bad battery. Replacement batteries are $20-$30 online, and take about 15-20 minutes to replace. Since replacement, my phone has been working fine. Going forward, I am going to try to use OEM chargers, avoid allowing my phone to stay on charger after 100%, and to not use Apps that drain the battery for long periods of time.
