G3 DRIVER? ugh - T-Mobile LG G3

I have done every iteration of this I can think of. I've searched but not found the exact answer. :-|
LG G3 with G3-D851-20B-LP-STOCK-ROOTED-DEBLOATED... works fine. No problems. Don't love the ROM and want to try more Vanilla Android experience.
I loaded Pacman. I like it. Smooth and fast. Problem is, it's not rooted as the stock ROM, which comes rooted.
I've tried Purple Dragon. I've tried one click.
If I plug the device to my workstation, I can view the contents. I can drag contents to the device.
If I set the phone to "Android Debugging" I get a yellow bang next to the device and the "ROOT tools" won't find my LGG3.
I've added this but it doesn't resolve the issue.
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S52MAN314AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.14.1
So, I can't get my phone rooted.
Workstation is Win7 x64. I built it, it's clean, solid and fast. No problems.
What other information could I have provided in this thread?

I'm pretty sure Pacman's rom is rooted. You might have to enable it in developer options. Cause I know some custom roms root needs to be enabled manually in developer mode.

My bad!

Phone Bricked, can anyone help please??

so yesterday i installed the new optimus de rom and it started up fine and everything was okay, then today i realized my 3g wasnt working and usually thats no big deal because all i have to do is restore my efs in the app FreeG (I think thats what its called, I might be wrong). Well right after i did that, i hit restart phone and it turned off then wouldnt come back on. Then i finally got to the LG symbol but it will turn off then the screen will be on but will just show black. I cant boot in to recovery nor can i do anything on it at all, when i plug it in the charger it says "battery.png is missing, battery: 75%". I took my phone in to sprint and they did a reset although that didnt do anything so there sending me a new one. Now my question is, is there any way I can open up my phones folder so i can get my pictures and everything that was on it? My pics were very important to me and i dont want to lose them, thats all i need so if some could help me get them that would be much appreciated, thanks.

The key here is going to be getting back into recovery. Have you tried getting into Download Mode? If you saw the LG logo then you SHOULD be able to get into download mode. Make sure the phone is completely powered off. Connect the USB to your pc but before you connect the other end to your phone, hold volume up then connect it. You should see "Download Mode" on the screen. You will see other directions for download mode but for me this always works, usb to pc, hold volume up then plug the phone in while still holding the volume up. If you can get into Download Mode you can flash a teenybin to get back into recovery following the guide in this thread here.
Currently even if you can get into Download Mode adb might not recognize your phone(at least it never did for me). Once you flash a teenybin using LGNPST, you should be able to get into Recovery. Once in Recovery you can use adb to pull your files off of the phone and onto your computer. I use it from a linux terminal but there are guides available for Windows if that's what you use. The adb guide should be easy to find on xda(just search) so I haven't linked to it. Once adb is set up on your computer AND you can get into Recovery you can use the command 'adb pull /data/media' without quotations and it will copy the contents of your internal storage to your pc. However if you can get into recovery you do have other options for just getting the phone back up and running. This guide here should also help.
If you are familiar with irc(internet relay chat) you can hop onto freenode and enter the #lg-optimus-g channel. As soon as you enter the channel you will see "Need Help? You won't read this but..." followed by a link. All the files for LGNPST, teenybins, and in depth tutorials on fixing a soft brick will be found there. I hope this helps you and hooray for me because this is my 200th post!
PS - If you can't get into Download Mode then your secondary bootloader is gone and there isn't anything you can do(to my knowledge). However, like I said, if you saw the LG logo at all, Download mode should still be an option. Also keep in mind these instructions are for the Sprint(ls970) lg optimis g. I believe the keys are flipped on AT&T/International models(Volume Down when you plug it in to get to Download Mode).

Thank you for the response, i just tryed to get in to download mode and it went in to it fine. I would try to do all that to repair it but I dont want sprint to see that its rooted and it I cant have it be fixed when the new phone comes in, the only thing that i want is to get my files from it. Is there any way that I can just do that but leave the phone the way it is? (Not booting up passed the lg logo) I want the new phone because my current Optimus G's battery is going pretty bad I think and I would like a new one.

There are plenty of ways to get it stuck at the lg logo, sometimes it happens just from dirty flashing a rom, sometimes because you install a rom without wiping dalvik/cache. But you should know if you are on Sprint, one of the reasons I stick with them(even though their coverage is horrible in my area) is because rooting DOES NOT void your warranty with Sprint. They will warn you against it but they are the only carrier that allows rooting and will still fix your phone. Here is some info on that here. They won't advertise it but it's the truth. But bricking your phone intentionally is pretty easy I think. After getting back your data, just go into recovery and start deleting stuff you normally wouldn't. It's similar to opening up your car's hood and saying "This looks important" and ripping it out, lol. At this point that's what I would do, fixing your rooted phone is within their warranty, replacing it(which is what you want) I'm not 100% on. Although the post I linked to, says even ordering a replacement on a rooted phone is covered. Its in a reply on that page, you'll see another link. So you could get your info, use a different LGNPST file to set your phone back to factory(which will relock the bootloader and lose root) and then you can do what you did to get there in the first place or root it and start deleting important files with a root explorer to get it back to being stuck. Hope this helps.

Oh wow I never knew that but that helps a lot thanks for the help, the sprint guy said theydid a master reset or hard reset or soemthing like that, does that mean it deleted all my pictures and everything? And i understand what you mean to rebrick it that's pretty simple. When i get my new optimus is there a new root out for the update? And what roms do you prefer?

If they did a hard reset it is possible that it wiped everything but not a definite. I purchased my phone from Best Buy and was on zvb. When the zvc update came through it messed my phone up(which is why you don't take OTA's once rooted without further knowledge/modifications) so I took it to Best Buy and they said they did a hard reset to fix it. It worked, my phone booted back up and my internal was fine. However, that's Best Buy and they barely know what they are doing so it may have been a soft reset, I am not 100% sure. As for a new root for the update, I received another phone shortly after because the glass back on mine broke and Best Buy replaced it with a whole new phone. It was on zvc and I used an app named Framaroot with the Gandalf exploit option and it worked fine for me. I have heard of others having issues with that method but for me, it worked and has stuck.
Fiddy619's universal root method seems to be the preferred way for our phone, look in the general section here for a thread by engine95 to see what I mean. After I rooted with Framaroot I then used FreeGee and unlocked the bootloader then made a total nandroid backup of my stock in TWRP before going further. I also copied the backup to my PC just in case.
As for my preferred roms, if we are talking about Android 4.4 both Vanir and PSX are my personal favorites. However as you can tell from my signature I am still using stock zvc android 4.1.2. I have flashed just about every rom available for our phone but my daily driver is stock that I have modified manually(different kernel, removed bloat ware, minor modifications and tweaks, etc). For android 4.3 I have had the best experience with CM10.2 and cfxe. I have not tried CM11(based on 4.4) for awhile but it seems to have overwhelming support - Cyanogenmod usually does.
Really when it comes to roms it's personal preference. They are all very similar with different tweaks/additions. As for which one is the most stable that is also a tricky question. Even though we have the same model of phone, I have seen how picky they can be from one to the other. My roommates have the EXACT same phone, installing CM10.2 worked fine for two of us, but one lost GPS and I had to fix it.
My best advice for when you get your new phone is to backup your working stock and then have fun flashing different things making sure you follow the instructions per rom exactly. It's always a good idea after making your backup(if planning to install another rom) to wipe everything except your internal storage and do a clean install of the rom and gapps. Then, test it for a day or so because sometimes it takes time to settle in. It's a shame that Optimus DE gave you issues, it was rock solid for me, again, these phones are picky! But one of the main reasons I stayed with stock is because the AOSP based cameras leave much to be desired when compared to the LG camera. Again it's just personal preference because some don't like the lg camera.
If you have any other issues or questions I will be glad to help if I can. A lot of the people you see who are active on the forums are very knowledgeable, as long as you ask politely most will be glad to help.

Okay Im going to try some new roms out when I get my new phone, I would like to try out an AOSP Kitkat Rom but I couldnt get one to flash last time I tryed but I will figure that out later when I get it. Now back to my Bricked Optimus, I want to try the teenybin method although I dont understand the directions... the second step tells me to flash but how can I do that without recovery? and it doesnt say anything about entering in download mode which is the only thing I can do, am I forgetting something? And thank you for the help Tesla I really appreciate it, Ive had more assistance from you than anyone else.

Are you a windows user? The teenybin isn't flashed from recovery it is flashed from a tool called LGNPST which is a Windows program. I am going to private message you a link. It will have links for downloading and installing LGNPST on your PC. It says that you will lose all your data but if you are using the teenybin you shouldn't. It's LG's tool for flashing firmware and gives that warning regardless of what you flash. And you're welcome, coming from an EVO 4G this phone is very different and plenty of people have helped me - just paying it forward.

Hey I got in to recovery through the Teenybin although the reset that they did deleted all of my stuff so Im kinda bummed:/ but its okay cause I got my new Optimus today and its brand new so Im happy with it. Thanks again for all of the help. Thats funny that you used to have an EVO 4G because I had it for so long and thats the phone I switched back to when my LG got bricked, but let me tell you Im glad to be back to the Optimus haha the EVO 4G is just way to slow anymore. Now that I have this new Optimus which root method should I go with? Its currently runnning ZVB (4.1.2) should I update the software? It says theres a software update available but I know that sometimes they dont have roots out for those updates so how should I start with this process again with the new phone in your opinion? I havnt done this in forever (going on a year) so I cant really remember everything that I had to do.

Let your phone update before rooting and unlocking. You should end up with ZVC.
Then, you have a choice on rooting. @HPTesla will say Framaroot. I'd say use fiddy Universal root.
Then DL FreeGee from the Playstore, use the"mako" version of TWRP/CWM, your choice, I'd do with TWRP and you'll be unlocked.
Back it up in recovery and you'll be good to go.

The fiddy universal looks easier to me so I will probably use that although its not very Important which ever one is better I will use, and what recovery do you think is better? I used TWRP before but is the other one any better? I will probably go with that anyways Im just trying to get some opinions in. And what ROM do you use? I think Im gonna start out with the stock rooted ROM but theres still some stuff I want from the DE ROM like the G2 keyboard and other features from the G2, is there any way I can get those? And have you had any experience with the KitKat ROMs? Those interest me too

Exactly what he said, framaroot was quick and easy for me, but the lgog is so damn picky and fiddy seems to be the preferred method so use it just to be safe. I had zero issues with framaroot but I think I've just been lucky. And definitely update to zvc before doing either. I'd also update prl and profile for good measure.
That sucks that you lost all of your data, they must have actually did a hard reset where as BestBuy told me they did a hard reset and actually did a soft reset. But it's BestBuy so I never expect much. I softbricked my lgog the day after I got it using the GAIO tool(before finding out about FreeGee) and they fixed it with a soft reset. The guy called the manager over and the manager asked me if I tried unlocking the bootloader and I played dumb. My exact words were "What the hell is a bootloader?" and he immediately fixed it. But I was shocked anyone at BestBuy would even know that. Lmao.
As for my EVO, the micro usb port broke so I was charging it for two months like MacGyver, literally stipped the usb charging wire and hooked it straight into the positive/negative terminals in the battery while turned off! It was a fire hazard but it did the trick, lol. And luckily it had external sd(my one big gripe about the lgog) so I could still get my stuff off of it even without usb. I did love that phone, but you're right, it's incredibly slow now compared to the wonderful lgog.
And as always you are quite welcome!

I think the reason I say framaroot is bc its also super easy, install the app, pick gandalf exploit and it will do it's thing - done without ever connecting to a pc. But @engine95 is right, fiddy is more stable so use that. As for TWRP, I love 2.5.0.0 but for KK roms you have to use the one that comes with updated FreeGee, TWRP 2.6.3.x because of the SELinux changes Google made with 4.4. TWRP 2.6 was unstable originally but has since become just as stable as 2.5 according to most. OpTimuS DE was rock solid for me, as for getting some of the G2 apps, I'm not certain. It's doable but I don't know how difficult it would be because I've never tried to install them elsewhere. And I already gave you my choice of best current KK roms but today I found out a few guys are trying to get OMNI official for us. When that happens I think I will be switching to OMNI because they have been producing some impressive commits/tweaks that you won't find elsewhere. Just look through xda news to see what I mean, OMNI is on a roll!

I prefer TWRP just because that has always been our best one since the beginning. Now that all the versions of the OG are coming together though both are fine.
I like stock, but Lrod's OpTimuS 5.0 is my daily. The G2 adds he made got me hooked.
If your gonna try to pull some stuff from DE, check with Lrod. He's made alot of changes to a lot of files making it difficult. For me at least.
I've ran all the KK Roms and I liked them all. PSX is probably my favorite though. I liked Liquid in its early days, pre KK. I'm not sure it's up to KK yet.

Again, I think you're right on all fronts. Liquid was smooth(heh) but it hasn't been long since we received an official 4.3 so I don't think they're up to 4.4. And same goes for the G2 apps, sometimes it's as simple as pulling an apk out of a zip and pushing it to system/apps and changing permissions but I think Lrod did a lot of work to get the G2 apps working on our phone because they required certain dependencies/modified frameworks.

You have to root before unlocking.
Make sure your phone has at least 70 percent charge or more!!
Go to Settings: Settings>Security>Unknown sources checked: Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging checked, Settings> Display>Screen Timeout - at least 5 min
from fiddy thread.
Directions
1. Unzip the zip file
2. Make sure USB Debugging is on, and you are in Charge only Mode
3. Run the CurrentRoot.bat, wait for the prompt. (Can now be run as admin if you wish, Still works running as regular user tho. Thanks robisodd)
4. Change to MTP Mode
5. Just ignore when your computer asks how to view files on your device.
6. Press enter in the CMD prompt to continue.
7. Done.
You shouldn't have any issues.
If you do, then try Framaroot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 and follow those directions.
Follow this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582 It has all the info on rooting and unlocking
Edit. You may have to root as admin/not admin, try both.
Edit #2 Also, do not use USB 3.0 ports. They are iffy for this stuff. LGNPST included

Okay i will try this later when i have access to a computer, but the last root i tryed told me it was successful although it didnt restart my phone or anything it just said it was in the command prompt. I will try again cause i dont think it did anything. But i have a question about roms, i am most likely going to flash the DE 5.0 again because i like it with the g2 keyboard and i kind of like the lg feel to it but the only problem is google play music always gives me an error when im playing songs and it always has. I heard aosp roms dont have that problen so in your opinion what is the most stable aosp rom with all features working like gps and everything??

AOSP SuperNexus has been getting good reviews here in the forums but I haven't tried it yet. I would give that one a shot though. I'd flash GAPPS standard with it instead of GAPPS core as well. This is just generally speaking with any of the AOSP roms.
The directions @engine95 gave you for fiddy are spot on(as usual ), specifically having the phone in charge only mode instead of mtp. I think a lot of people have missed that step and it won't work in mtp. Using usb 2.0 is another good tip.
And if your phone didn't reboot, you probably arent rooted. Easiest way to check that you are rooted is by going into the app drawer and seeing either Superuser or SuperSu app. If it's there, you're rooted, if not, it didnt work. If it said it worked but didnt reboot, Im assuming you rebooted manually? It sounds silly but sometimes it's as simple as that. But again, after rebooting if one of those apps arent there, you are not rooted.
EDIT: I've never tried rooting with fiddy without being in charge only mode, Im wondering if being in mtp may install supersu/superuser app but not the binary? Probably not but I could be wrong. Just wondering if there is any possible way that the app could be there but you still wouldn't have root privileges. For me, if the app is there, I'm rooted but I don't pretend to know everything(far from it, lol).
EDIT#2: Once you are rooted and recovery is installed, here is the link to SuperNexus.
EDIT#3: And I can't stress this one enough....after rooting and unlocking the bootloader, before flashing ANYTHING, make a full backup of your stock AND copy the TWRP folder(with your backup in it) to a computer, JUST IN CASE! That way you will always have a backup elsewhere, even if something goes wrong with your phone's internal storage. Better safe than sorry!!! And it's also best to copy the entire TWRP folder.
@HPTesla You're on a roll!
Go with everything he's said.
I don't use Google music ,so I'm of little help there.
Almost every ROM has its quirks, and it's just a matter of finding the one that does what you need/want.
Our devs have given us a lot of options. And I know, I sure appreciate them.

so yesterday i installed the new optimus de rom and it started up fine and everything was okay, then today i realized my 3g wasnt working and usually thats no big deal because all i have to do is restore my efs in the app FreeG (I think thats what its called, I might be wrong).

I ran OpTiMuS for a long time and every time I would try new roms, decide I didn't like or whatever and go back, I'd always have to 1. Dial ##72786# 2. Let it self activate sometimes twice, but usually just once before I would pick up 3g/4g. May have just been my phone but you may try that out if you go back to optimus De. Over all, my favorite stock like rom though.

Digital2 Platinum Pad 8 - D2-861G-BK

So I created this topic because there is hardly anything on the internet regarding this tablet. I just recently purchased it from Best Buy and it took me quite some time to find something that would help me root it. Finally, I tried vroot ( a rooting application) and I succeeded in rooting my tablet. I don't have the exact link I used to get vroot but a simple Google search should suffice. Anyway, I figured I'd start this topic for anyone and everyone who uses this tablet or knows of this tablet to discuss any other developments. For now, if anyone needs help rooting their tablet and getting superuser running, I'm here to help.~
For now, I hope you all can figure out how to use vroot (yes, I know it's in Chinese. I can not read Chinese but it was pretty simple to get through the process of rooting.) Anyway, I don't remember the specifics but if anyone else gets through it, I ask that you please post some details on how you did it for everyone else to get through it as well. Hopefully, with time, we can get some good stuff going with this tablet. Could anyone figure out how to get CWM Recovery running on it? I'm a bit new to this and I don't want to screw anything up.
Thanks for the heads up! I also bought this tablet about a month ago. I was impressed with how thin and light it was, and how nice and bright the (IPS) screen was, especially for a cheaper "no-name" tablet. I've since found virtually no online support for this. D2 didn't even seem to list it on their own website. Although, finally today, I found this thread, and this site: http://www.d2pad.info/index.php?option=com_content&view=frontpage&Itemid=585. Seem the model is exclusive to Best Buy.
The only problem I've had with this tablet is that on rare occasions, if the screen is left on too long, the touch controls go a bit haywire, detecting random touches all over the place, and not really responding. Simply turning the screen off and back on fixes the problem. (Also, the camera is kind of ****ty, but I don't really care about that)
Anyhow, I'll definitely be trying to root this tomorrow. I take it you didn't need any special drivers? I came across this (http://scottyzone.com/2014/03/17/connect-the-d2-961g-to-adb-using-google-usb-drivers/), which I'll try if I can't get the tablet connected to my computer properly to run Vroot.
Thanks!

Thank you for bringing some needed attention to this topic! I actually used the Vroot application, rather than the software. It took a few tries but I got it to work. If you want to try the software, however, I've connected it to my computer numerous times without the need for any special drivers. Only thing I can suggest is the generic google drivers. By the way, I reverse searched the tablet's hardware and kernel and came across a duplicate device from China. It is exactly identical right down to the appearance, hardware and software to our tablet. It is called the Chuwi VX8 and the only difference is that it comes in white rather than black.
After making this discovery I came across a nice little development topic for the clone device (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?16025-Chuwi-VX8-RileyROM-1-1) and it seems they've founded good amount of research into the tablet. They've come up with a rom (I've yet to test), CWM Recovery (Unable to flash. If anyone else can try, that'd be dandy.), root methods (with links), among other things. It seems that anything that would work with the Chuwi tablet SHOULD work with the Digital2 Platinum Pad 8. The same rooting method was required and everything about the two tablets is perfectly identical so I'm led to believe they're going to be able to use identical roms or recoveries. I'll look more into flashing CWM Recovery tonight and get back to you on my results.

Found this link (http://products.mgyun.com/api/downjump?id=846) just for you. It should work but let me now whether or not it does. It's the exe for computers but if it doesn't work Google "vroot apk" for the app.

As you mentioned, the link was for the (Windows) software. It requires ADB connection to a computer (usually requires special drivers).
When you said you used the application instead of the software, I assumed you used an APK. However, there is no apk of (the official) Vroot (it was designed to work through Windows). That makes me think the root app you used was something else. So I have to ask... what did you use to root this device?
vRoot is now iRoot
First off, I'd like to thank you for starting this topic. I've searched all over since I bought this tablet a couple of months ago but couldn't find any information. When I did a google search for vroot, i found http://www.mgyun.com/en/getvroot and the software is now called iRoot, and is in english. The main link on the page is for the windows ADB version, and there's a link further down the page for "iRoot for Mobile", which will give you the APK. Now that I've got root, I'll keep trying to get CWM recovery to work, and maybe we can start seeing some ROMs come out for this great device!
UPDATE: (IMPORTANT, please read): The APK does not work. or at least, I couldn't get it to work on my device. It tells you that you've got root, but doesn't really give it to you. Download the computer based exe from the link that Josh8550 posted earlier.
You will need developer permissions (Settings -> About Tablet -> tap Build Number until it tells you you're a developer).
Install ADB and Drivers on windows PC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979)
Connect tablet to PC with USB cable.
Run vRoot (iRoot) on PC. Program will connect to tablet and check for root.
Click the "Get Root" button.
Wait...
Tablet will reboot.
Wait...
Program will connect to tablet and check for root.
Program should verify that you have root.
Download and Install SuperSU from the Play Store.
Open SuperSU and Update SU Binary. You will have to give SuperSU root permissions from the chinese interface (choose the box on the right, don't mark the check box).
Reboot.
Congratulations! You now have root access. Enjoy!
More info to come later...

Best custom rom for the LG G4?

Hello, I'm getting today the LG G4(H815) and Im wondering what is the best rom to install?
I've heard the battery life is not very good becuase of the LG interface, so a custom rom should fix it, and from what I've seen there's not much different between Android 5.1 and 6, so I don't really mind, what custom rom do you use, and why?
Thanks.
I'm running die latest nightly of CM 13 and in my opinion it's very good!
Everything I need for daily use just works fine.
There is no "BEST" for every body. There is only what people have found is best for them based on how they use their phone, their signal, setup, preferences, etc. They found what was best for them by reviewing all the top listed ROMs in the development section. The top list means they are the most active. Read the first few posts on each and find out what features they have and if those are the ones you are looking for. Then read the last 10 pages or so to see if anyone has any problems and how they fixed them. Then choose the one you want to try...back up your current setup, wipe all data and flash the new ROM. Give it a try and see if that is the one that is BEST for you. If not, restore your setup or try again.
Happy Flashing!

If it says Device not found, you do not have ADB drivers properly installed. Try to download and install fresh drivers for your phone..or plug it into another port and watch the driver installation to make sure all drivers are installed. If you get a red X for ADB driver then you need to remove drivers, download updated ones and install.
On the same topic, how is the camera on other roms?
I'm assuming on all STOCK variants we have the same camera app as LG provides.
But what happens with CM13 for instance? (do we have manual controls, is the quality degraded...?)
Thanks

Either way, your device will need to be recognized by ADB to unlock the bootloader. Make sure if you are using a desktop to use the USB ports in the back directly on the motherboard and not the ones in the front. Do you have any errors in device manager? Whichever error you have you need to fix that driver. With my 6P I had problems with the Google USB driver. Took me 2 hours to realize which was the problem and find one that would install somewhere on the net.

I actually do have a little problem, sometimes, with different time periods, but every now and then, my keyboard stops working for like 2 seconds, my computer is trying to find usb keyboard driver, it fails to update it, but the keyboard still works, don't know if it have any connection, but I'll try to do it on another computer(don't know why I didn't thought of it until now ;o)
Edit - not working on other computer as well, really don't know what to do ;\
Custom ROM's are generally good overall. CandySIX and Resurrection are both extremely good ROM's. However, where they lack seriously is the quality of sound generally from the speakers and headphones. That being said, its best to settle for a Stock based ROM. IMHO Imperium ROM is unparalleled in that department, best battery backup and of course awesome sound. It even integrates with Viper Audio very well. Its my everyday ROM at the moment. If anyone thinks differently, please do let me know. I would love to get some opinions on this.

[ROM] RemixOS 3.0 [Marshmallow] Easy Install Package

Hi folks. I'll start off with some disclaimers.
I'm not part of the Jide team or in any way affiliated with RemixOS other than that I was given permission to post an "easy install" package here.
I cannot fix bugs. If you want to tell me about bugs you are welcome to, but there's nothing I can do about them. This thread *may* be monitored by Jide team members, but I cannot guarantee timeliness nor thoroughness.
I am only here to support this thread in regard to "How To Install It". That said, I will try to assist anyone with any issues that I can. I can't fix bugs, but I can answer question and may be able to resolve some issues.
This process WILL WIPE your device, so be sure to back up any important files beforehand.
Now that all that's out of the way, let's get to it.
If you haven't heard about RemixOS, here's a little intro: http://www.jide.com/remixos
Remix is a different kind of Android experience.
The only way to install RemixOS at this moment is through fastboot. I took their firmware files and simplified "flash-all" batch script and packaged it alongside ADB and fastboot. If you already have ADB and fastboot, you can download the firmware directly from Jide and install just like always: http://www.jide.com/remixos/devices/nexus9
If you don't have ADB or fastboot, or just want to speed up your install process, keep reading.
You will need an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER to do this. Unlocking your bootloader will wipe your device, but so will installing this ROM normally, so again be sure to back up important files. Click the spoiler button in the instructions below to see the additional steps for unlocking your bootloader.
Pre-install: Enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer Settings. To do this: go to "About Tablet" in Settings. Tap "Build Number" seven times. You'll see a notification that you are now a developer, and now you'll have a "Developer Options section in Settings. Go into Developer Options and enable "OEM Unlocking" by flipping the toggle.
1. DOWNLOAD EASY INSTALL PACKAGE:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=92087
2. Unzip the package. Just the .zip file you downloaded, no need to unzip anything within the original .zip file.
3. Boot your Nexus 9 into bootloader mode. (power off tablet, hold "Volume Down" and "Power" buttons simultaneously for 4-5 seconds. You'll see a white screen with multicolor text if successful)
4. Connect tablet to PC via microUSB cable.
To unlock bootloader, if necessary:
A. Hold Shift and right-click within the unzipped folder containing ADB and fastboot tools, then click "Open a command window here". A command prompt will pop up.
B. Type
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
C. This will wipe your device and takes a few minutes. If it reboots afterwards, get back into bootloader mode to continue.
5. Double-click "flash-all.bat", the batch file within the folder you unzipped from the package.
6. Wait for a while. It takes a few minutes. Do not unplug the tablet or turn off your computer during this process. It will reboot automatically when complete.
Congratulations, you are now running RemixOS 3.0!
A few notes for modders:
I was able to root using CF Auto Root.
TWRP works fine for flashing some .zips, but remember this is a heavily modified AOSP so not all mods will work.
I have not tested Xposed.
Layers do NOT work.
If you install a custom recovery or modify /system you will not be able to install OTA updates, you will have to flash the entire package manually.
Awesome! Can't wait to try it. I just left remix because I couldn't stand to run a 5.1 base. But it was always fast and smooth!

I have been using it from when I got N9 from swappa. Tried other custom and stock ROMs. I keep coming back. Been the best so far. The last stock was dp5 haven't tried 7.0
We have the LTE one ready. I'll share in this thread the download link within 24-48 hours. Thanks!

From latest Google image, as in from Nougat? Wouldn't any 6.0.1 vendor image work, so long as it was more recent than the ROM build?

Would love another update for WiFi version as well, but I have two questions.
1. Is there any way we can be given the choice of using our own launcher? It's really frustrating.
2. If we can't, can the option be added back to not have all apps on the home screen? It was present I believe in the previous build, but it's gone again. I could have two apps on the screen, and everything else in the app drawer. Prefer that.
Hey dictionary,
I talked to migration team and, as of my writing, there is no schedule for another update for the the Wi-Fi version.
1) Currently, Remix OS doesn't support other launchers.
2) Putting this feature back into Remix OS for N9's can be done if we gather enough feedback from the community for it. Personally, I totally get the reason you'd rather have clean desktop option, but we have limited resources here and I need for the feature to be asked by many users first.
Thanks and I do hope you understand. Btw, have you tried any of our other products (ie. Remix OS for PC or Remix OS Player?) They both have the clean desktop feature.
Thanks!

1) yeah, was just hoping they'd allow it.
2) I don't know why it'd be an issue, as it was there before. Shouldn't it be the same as remix for PC? I tried remix player, but it didn't run that great on my PC. I currently also run Remix for PC dual booting on my laptop. Runs great
You may want to try Remix OS Player again if you're still interested as we made some optimizations and now allow you to use all your CPU cores rather than leave at least one core for your host OS and PC.

For tablets like N9, our product managers made a call that for touchscreen devices, there is minimal need for the Desktop mode since it's more intuitive for PC environments and keyboard and mouse input.

I would also like to have the option of using a clean desktop on my N9
Thank you for the great work, btw!
I used latest 6.0.1 vendor IMG as nougat factory image is not available for lte

I'll give player another shot later today.
No disrespect to the PM's, but I vehemently disagree. There is no easy way to sort them, and putting all things in folders isn't very aesthetically pleasing. I have well over 60 apps installed, and it's just a jumbled mess. I always run a clean desktop on my devices. I find it much more intuitive having all apps right by my thumb.
If they refuse to, that's fine. I'll try to find a way to just move the launcher and file manager from my Remix OS for PC over to the n9
@dictionary Your opinion is duly noted. I've definitely passed on your opinion to them as well as @KSS2016 's comment.
Let me know how Remix OS Player works out for you. Thanks.
Any word on the LTE easy install package?

SM-T320 - can't find OEM Unlock switch in Developer Options

I feel like this should be obvious, but I'm unable to find the OEM Unlock switch under Developer Options on a Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, SM-T320.
I must have found it once before because I rooted and installed Android 7.1 on the same model (different tablet) last fall. But for whatever reason, it's eluding me on this one. Apparently, on Samsung devices, that switch is hidden; to reveal it, you need to turn off automatic downloads and auto date and time, restart, open Developer Options, and so on, but there is no switch for automatic date and time anywhere on this menu, which is unlike any other I've seen on an Android device.
I have USB Debugging checked, but the tablet won't root, and it seems that unlocking the bootloader is the sticking point. And it's driving me nuts. As noted, I must have done this with the other tablet, but I can't find that switch on that tablet either -- and it would look different anyway, since it's not the tablet's stock Android.
Please help? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I found another web page on which it simply says to check USB Debugging. I had done this before, but unchecked and rechecked it to be sure. Then I tried to root once more, using the file:
CF-Auto-Root-mondrianwifi-mondrianwifixx-smt320.tar
...which worked on my other tablet last fall and again tonight. Still, the tablet isn't rooted. I cannot figure out what I'm missing.
Well, a few more hours and attempts later, the tablet still wasn't rooting, so I started the tablet in recovery mode and reset it to factory before trying it again. This time, it worked! Clearly, there was something (an app, perhaps?) that was getting in the way. I still don't know where that OEM Unlock switch is, but I no longer care.
From feeble memory, I recall having one tablet (only one, an SM-T520) that would only do what I wanted by first flashing it back to stock. From there, everything was fine. I have another SM-T520 and a couple of SM-T320's, any of which couldn't care less what I do to them.
I guess that's the fail-safe position. Since I was installing a newer build anyway, it didn't matter. It just seemed odd since the other SM-T320 rooted just fine without that extra step. I wish I'd thought of it sooner, but that's water under the bridge.
BTW, if those other tablets work and you're interested in selling one of them, drop me a PM. And if not, no worries; I just thought I'd ask.
Do you have a link as to where I can download twrp flash recovery for tab pro 8.4? It seems like it needs a tar.md5 file.
Thank you!
