Hello, I'm getting today the LG G4(H815) and Im wondering what is the best rom to install?
I've heard the battery life is not very good becuase of the LG interface, so a custom rom should fix it, and from what I've seen there's not much different between Android 5.1 and 6, so I don't really mind, what custom rom do you use, and why?
Thanks.
I'm running die latest nightly of CM 13 and in my opinion it's very good!
Everything I need for daily use just works fine.
There is no "BEST" for every body. There is only what people have found is best for them based on how they use their phone, their signal, setup, preferences, etc. They found what was best for them by reviewing all the top listed ROMs in the development section. The top list means they are the most active. Read the first few posts on each and find out what features they have and if those are the ones you are looking for. Then read the last 10 pages or so to see if anyone has any problems and how they fixed them. Then choose the one you want to try...back up your current setup, wipe all data and flash the new ROM. Give it a try and see if that is the one that is BEST for you. If not, restore your setup or try again.
Happy Flashing!

First thanks for the detailed comment, second, can you please remind me the order from stock new phone to flashing custom rom?(I mean, first you root the phone, then open bootloader, install TWRP, etc etc) Thanks.
I'm running CandySiX. It's very good.

Go into your app drawer. Go to Settings then to the very bottom for device info, then something that sounds like Hardware info. You will find your IMEI number in there.

Oh..THAT Device ID. Here is a better explanation on how to get it if you have fastboot and ADB drivers installed and working:

I already tried that as well, but its not working for me, the cmd says "Device not found", but the device is connected(and the computer is recognizing the phone as well), I also tried to getting into fastboot through flashtool, but its not working as well, I tried many options, usb debugging on/off, mtp/the other one, but its not working(but the computer is recognizing the phone and I can enter the phone storage).

If it says Device not found, you do not have ADB drivers properly installed. Try to download and install fresh drivers for your phone..or plug it into another port and watch the driver installation to make sure all drivers are installed. If you get a red X for ADB driver then you need to remove drivers, download updated ones and install.
On the same topic, how is the camera on other roms?
I'm assuming on all STOCK variants we have the same camera app as LG provides.
But what happens with CM13 for instance? (do we have manual controls, is the quality degraded...?)
Thanks

Either way, your device will need to be recognized by ADB to unlock the bootloader. Make sure if you are using a desktop to use the USB ports in the back directly on the motherboard and not the ones in the front. Do you have any errors in device manager? Whichever error you have you need to fix that driver. With my 6P I had problems with the Google USB driver. Took me 2 hours to realize which was the problem and find one that would install somewhere on the net.

I actually do have a little problem, sometimes, with different time periods, but every now and then, my keyboard stops working for like 2 seconds, my computer is trying to find usb keyboard driver, it fails to update it, but the keyboard still works, don't know if it have any connection, but I'll try to do it on another computer(don't know why I didn't thought of it until now ;o)
Edit - not working on other computer as well, really don't know what to do ;\
Custom ROM's are generally good overall. CandySIX and Resurrection are both extremely good ROM's. However, where they lack seriously is the quality of sound generally from the speakers and headphones. That being said, its best to settle for a Stock based ROM. IMHO Imperium ROM is unparalleled in that department, best battery backup and of course awesome sound. It even integrates with Viper Audio very well. Its my everyday ROM at the moment. If anyone thinks differently, please do let me know. I would love to get some opinions on this.

Tired of all those funky ways of rooting? Wanna just push a button and be rooted?
Guess what I've got something for you.
Introducing FastbootRoot (patent not pending) for the virgin mobile optimus v
FastbootRoot was designed with simplicity in mind. The easy to use ui makes rooting your lg optimus easy and quick without all those adb commands. It takes the guess work out ( is this right, what does he mean by that? ) of rooting your phone.
Features:
flash a custom recovery
this feature only flashes a custom recovery without rooting your phone giving you the ability to back up your current system without root. I put this in here in case of needing to return the phone for warranty matters
flash the entire shebang
This flashes a new boot image, a new system image*, and custom recovery.
Revert to stock
thanks to destundead we now have the stock system image and boot combined with my stock recovery we are good to go
New experimental install windows xp fastboot drivers
My goal is to fully automate this process and to make this as painless as possible for the new users. This new feature is untested and will either work or it won't. Give me some feedback if it does or doesn't.
--------------------------How to Use--------------------------
Download fastbootroot from here and place it on your desktop.
Download the usb drivers from here
On your phone turn on usb debugging by pushing menu, then settings, then applications, then development, and then usb debugging.
Install the drivers ( I find that rebooting after the drivers have been installed will install a whole new set of drivers. I recommend this method)
unzip fastbootroot and inside double click the fastbootroot file. Make your selection and your done.
Here's a video on using it and a little explanation
watch it here
WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS:
no need to install usb drivers
Enjoy this and remember this works fully on windows 7 and I tested it myself. No matter what there's always room for user error though in which case I take no responsibility if things go wrong.
PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS
Some people are reporting problems like drivers not installing or other things. First off if you have a problem you need to state exactly what operating system you are using (windows 7, windows vista, or windows xp).
This only works with the virgin mobile optimus v. Make sure you have the virgin mobile optimus v (not a optimus t, m or a picture of the v pasted on top of a w490)
Tell me what you did exactly don't lie. I know from experience when someone says, 'I did this I definitely didn't do that', whether or not they are holding something back. The more info you can give the better if your holding something back that's gonna delay the process.
This is free. I ask for donations but they aren't required at all. So when your asking for more things remember this is free.
Like my work donate to me herehttps://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=FEP8NQ8J49MX8

I removed the battery and the phone restarted without issues. Not sure why things did not go the way they're supposed to--could it be because I had the drivers from the ROMTOOLS package installed before? NOTE: Prior to trying this procedure I uninstalled all of those and rebooted before installing the drivers linked here.
Another thought, OP says he is running Windows Seven; I am on Windows XP. Could this have anything to do with my trouble?
--bornagainpenguin
UPDATE: I tried installing the drivers included with the ROMTOOLS package and my phone was recognized again. No luck when trying to run fastboot. Not sure why this is happening or why I am unable to use the drivers OP linked to. They seem to install when clicked but the system doesn't seem to think the drivers apply to this phone for some reason...
Okay what happened was your fastboot drivers didn't install correctly I'm in the process of uploading a video to show you how to install the fastboot drivers.

I appreciate the effort, but unless the video is closed captioned it may not do me much good. I am hard of hearing (one of the reasons why I picked this phone was its high T4 rating which works well with my hearing aids and telecoil adapter --think headphones for hard of hearing people) so cannot always hear audio on videos very good.

I've integrated the fastboot drivers into the next release for windows xp I need a beta tester before I release this.
Does this just root our existing system, or does it install a whole new rooted image (requiring us to reinstall all of our programs and settings)?
I have XP, by the way. If it just roots, I would be willing to beta test (but if it doesn't work, if it doesn't work, I want to be able to get back to where I was as my phone works well).
This is F*****KIN GREAT!!!! Thanks!!

Hello guys!
I am noob right now. I just bought an used rhodium100 and I am trying to install a new rom on it. It has a different language, one that I do not understand.
So I read and read, and I download HardSPL app, RUU, and I wanna get it going when I realize that my phone is not recognized by my computer, nor by a laptop of a friend (both using windows 7). So my question is:
Can it be something wrong software wise that does not allow to connect to the PC or is a hardware thing for sure?

Are you plugging it in while in bootloader mode, or while in WinMo? Bootloader mode = tri-color screen where you flash.
Honestly, I would flash via SD. Much easier, no need to worry about drivers or any of that nonsense.
Thanks dude for that quick response.
I tried in both ways. As I said, I tried not to be a complete total noob and I read and read.
I tried to flash it via SD card, but I guess the previous owner did not HardSPL it, so when I reboot it in bootloader, it just goes to the screen "Loading..." and it freezes. I've let it over night but it just drained the battery and no progress.
Any other idea?

You should be able to HSPL from the SD. You just can't revert HSPL from SD.
Also, you can tell at the tri-color screen if it's unlocked or not - if you see anything about OliNix, it's unlocked.
well, there was nothing about olinix. So it's not unlocked. Can you tell me how to HSPL it from the sd? Can I then install the ROM via sd card? I do not need to revert the spl.

I do not have any clue how to fix your problem, it might be a software related, a cable issue or even the MB/connector could fail.
You could translate the rom using a cab file, but this isn't easy and requires a lot of resources and knowledge.

XDAndroid is completely different. Please don't mix issues here - Android questions go in Android section, preferably in the build thread you're using. That probably does rule out a hardware issue with the USB port on the phone tho.
I would ensure that you guys have the right setup for flashing. Make sure you try different USB ports, different cables, etc. Triage.

I understand that. I just said that the connectors are OK. Working. If android can connect so should original ROM load, or at least that's what I think it should.
I just hate that neither in active synch nor in bootloader mode can't connect it. Is there any program that facilitates the connection?

I've literally tried every method on the internet to root the GSM Galaxy Nexus and I keep getting stuck at the very beginning: I can't get past the driver step and making sure the computer recognizes the phone as an ADB device. I've tried Samsung driver install, pdaNET drivers and just about any other method and I still can't get my computer to show that the device is a ADB device and therefore cannot root the phone.

I've tried updating via device manager. The problem is, it always says its up to date or when I manually select one it still doesn't work. Should I just not pick the newest driver? Pick an older version when selecting a new driver?
EDIT: also, another issue is that with Wug's when it searches for the adb device is searches in an odd folder that doesn't exist and I can't figure out how to change where it looks

Or download the GNex Toolkit. Was having driver issues as well today (they were installed but for some strange reason Windows didn't recognize it anymore) and used the ones that come with this toolkit to reinstall through device manager. Of course as always with these things, use at your own risk, fiddling with drivers can be tricky .
What are you getting from your adb devices command? I had a problem with mine showing as consistantly offline. I had to change from a frontal USB port (usually a bad idea anyway) to a rear port. Some device/computer combinations make adb unhappy when using a USB hub, which most frontal USB ports essentially are.

When I use WugFresh and check for ADB it checks a nonexistent directory and returns an error. I found another method on google (I think the webpage was Foolproof method or something) and I check through command prompt and when I do it says List of Devices: then a blank line underneath
EDIT: just installed the GNex toolkit and drivers, plugged in, adb devices and it returned the blank line
EDIT 2.0: I just witnessed the most beautiful thing in the world. I plugged in again and it miraculously worked. I think I might tear up and cry a little
Yeah, for some reason the USB Driver in the Android SDK does NOT work. This was incredibly frustrating when I was trying to unlock my phone originally. I spent probably 30 minutes googling and trying different driver downloads.
I have attached the ones I used that DO work.
So here is the new story:
unlocked bootloader but it did not factory reset. It rebooted and my phone is as it was.
When I went to do fastboot boot boot.gsm.img, It says boot.img downloads and then it takes me to the google logo screen and gets stuck

I've never rooted an already installed ROM for the Galaxy Nexus, but might I ask why you're not just installing a pre-rooted ROM from recovery? It'll save you a lot of headaches for sure. Even if you're not into custom builds, there's plenty of AOSP pre-rooted builds out there

I don't think the pre-rooted ROMs get OTAs, or do they? I've been trying to root on stock so I can still get OTAs and I like how stable it is. I've messed with other ROMs on other phones and I almost always go to stock or CM but I'd rather stick to stock on this for now
Okay I can understand that. However do realize that once you install an OTA, your root will probably be gone and you'll have to root manually once more ...

Unlock your bootloader, bla bla follow guides on how to set up/use fastboot, BOOT cwm (not flash it) with 'fastboot boot cwm.img', flash that supersu zip, reboot. Done, you rooted jb, install voodoo root keeper or something, back up root. Thats one way how to root a Nexus. You can even relock your bootloader after you finished customizing.

So here is the new story:
unlocked bootloader but it did not factory reset. It rebooted and my phone is as it was.
When I went to do fastboot boot boot.gsm.img, It says boot.img downloads and then it takes me to the google logo screen and gets stuck

EDIT
All I want to do is flash back to stock, I feel like I am gonna lose my my mind or go buy a new phone. I have mostly spent a solid 10 hours of time trying to get it to work.
I have been endlessly looking, searching, trying all these different methods to get my ls980 to connect to my pc. So basically everytime I have hooked it up it comes up as unreconized or unknown device doesn't connect.
List of things: Latest LG mobile drivers I have installed them through there exe and tried to install them manually when the ! comes up on the device. I have tried my laptop and my desktop every usb in all of them. I have tried the stock cable, and about 8 other different cables. I have tried it in debugging mode with mtp and without debugging. I tried the support tool as well. Tried composite usb setting.
I guess I am at a loss at this point to what even to try besides sending it to be repaired. Which I don't feel like it's a phone problem and I am just missing something I can't find, I say this because the phone charges perfectly fine and no damage to the usb port at all. If anyone has good information or just a direction I can go will be greatly appericated.

Is your device functioning normally, besides from this? Also, did you use the T-mobile drivers?

It works just fine, only notable thing that I never figured out was why OTA updates don't ever take, it's still on ZVC. I tried the T-mobile d802 drivers as it was suggested by another post I saw on here.
And you've removed all drivers to android and lg for it.

Correct, I uninstalled them, tried new ones a couple different ways from other posts, and removed them and tried again. Right now I just have them all uninstalled. Trying to figure out if it's something that's stopping it. In error I did forget that a couple times it reconized it but would :fail to start code 10.

OK, that shouldn't be the problem. Zvc yet updates do not take.
Is it rooted?
And it is running on sprint network?

Long story short, it's on ZVC, even with other updates that came up it would never update past it. I took it into sprint several times they didn't know why, I did root it as one guy said that was an option, I used stump root, but then I unrooted as I felt I was getting into something too complicated. It is on the sprint network, about 90% of the time and all the times I tried to update previous to the root/unroot. But I am not trying to update it since the root, mostly trying to restore to stock and start overish.
I'm thinking maybe a virtual machine with Linux might find it. If it can then there is something. And maybe we can redo the partitions and such.

I was unable to find anyone outside local computer store that I know. Kind of problem finding that in rural midwest. I also tried installing drivers in vista compatability as that was suggested no luck..

As for driver removal, one thing I remember with the nexus devices. There is wugfresh nrt, nexus root toolkit. Let me see which application or program they loaded for removal before reinstall of drivers. I know they have 2 places you check into.
Dang, I'll have to try to load them via a windows emulator. I'm running Linux right now.

Let me know.. I am kinda at the point where I might try to find someone to flash it back to stock, and just activated my old phone til it gets back.. like I am past the point of frustration and no legit just don't get why, since all my other devices have zero issues connecting.
Good day my friends. This is my first post but i read these forums very often. I own a Digicel Dl750 (alcatel 4037a) which i would really appreciate some help with. I tried to flash my phone some time ago using a tutorial i found online since i couldn't find anything useful here (my go to source for these things). However, after trying to flash the rom and failing, i am stuck with a phone that won't respond to any input. COnnecting it with a usb simply gives me a white light on the phone, and device manager reads a "MTK usb port" device. it won't boot or anything else. Been trying to install some kind of recovery but i've had no luck so far. Is anyone here able to provide me with a backup of a working phone so i can fix mine please.
Edit Note1: After a bit more testing, I have pretty much confirmed that it is a problem with the preloader as the phone seems to completely skip the preloader when you connect it to the pc, and after a few seconds goes to the bootrom(?) instead. I am making this call based on the hardware ids show in device manager.
