I bought HTC PRO2 (RHOD500) from Telus. I just noticed that it does not work on fido 3G network. GSM is fine.
If the Hard-SPL for world phone is released, can I use 3G fido network at that time?

You can pay to get it sim unlocked now and it will work. Search for tmobile unlock on ebay. I am on Telus and it works perfect.

I knew that, and my phone has been unlocked. I can make phone call without any problem.
However, I can not use it with fido 3G network.

I don’t think its the phone . I have seen this issue many times in the past All your data settings are still set up for TELUS and the CDMA network, It’s not as simple as just unlocking the SIM card to get the data to work you have to go in an re-program the phone. I would suggest finding the Data setting on a Windows mobile device Fido has and just copying those into you Touch Pro 2. (you will most likely need to do this by hand)
Can’t promise it will work as I know some Carriers have certain fields added and removed to fit their needs which messes up the phone when you unlock it to use on other networks.

I think the issue here is that the Telus TP2 has had the 850/1900MHz UMTS bands disabled for some retarded reason. (Seems especially retarded seeing as how they are rolling out a UMTS network running on those bands in a couple of months).
There is speculation that the bands physically exist on the Telus TP2 but they have been software disabled. The other possibility is that the hardware is not physically present to utilize the 850/1900MHz bands that Fido/Rogers use for their 3G data and that the Telus TP2 will never work on their 3G networks (as well as its own upcoming one) but I think that would be a seriously regretful move on Telus' part.
The spec sheet for the MSM7600 indicates that the phone may or may not be capable of using the 850/1900MHz bands, but according to HTC and Telus' specifications it definitely is able to use the 2100MHz bands (which makes zero sense in Canada since nobody will be using those bands for a long time).

according to that (if I'm reading right) there has to be at least 1 other UMTS band, no configuration is ONLY 2100MHz (the chipset that does only that doesnt do the 1900MHz PCS band for CDMA). But really, I'm pretty much guessing.
Hi I am using the unlocked Telus version on Fido. It's true that you can't use 3G because the phone does not support the required bands. But I still use EDGE. It's slower but better than nothing. Create a new connection and name it Fido. APN is : internet.fido.ca

Go to this site, click on the Details button and you'll see that the TP2 supports all of the above mentioned Bands. I think that maybe you are confusing GSM bands with the UMTS/HSPA bands.
There's a big difference between the GSM/Edge bands and WCDMA/UMTS.
I have been following the subject and there`s no concrete evidence that the 850/1900 WCDMA/UMTS bands are only software.
Where the hell did you get your firmware upgrade information? I've only seen this info given as pure speculation!
If the TouchPro 1 is any indication, the phone might be missing some key components to make it work. In the case of the TP1 it was the amplifier that was missing so it couldn't work even chipset and everything could support it.

So while it's possible, until someone does a teardown of the phone and we see all the required component it's simply not possible to say that 3G on a GSM network is possible.
The ONLY indication I have seen that it might support 850/1900 HSPA network is the fact that telus stated that the Tour and Storm will not work on the HSPA network. They failed to mention the TP2 so maybe we can read between the lines:

I have been following this debate on multiple forums.
Based on some information from RileyFreeman, I do think Telus will enable the TouchPro2 for new HSPA network.
Granted, today, you can unlock and use on Rogers, Fido or ATT networks using EDGE, it would be a real poor move for Telus to not have an upgrade path to HSPA.
This is Telus's non Blackberry flagship business device, today, Telus has Enterprise customers testing the HSPA network (likely either PC cards or USB modems). Once HTC releases Windows Mobile 6.5, this would be an ideal time to upgrade the radio's and unlock the 850/1900 UMTS bands.
I can see the 850/1900 bands today, not 100% if they are actually there, also wondering if Telus is also waiting for ATT to release TP2 so ATT can test ROM, Sprint nor Verizon would not have any need to do any regression testing on ROM that supports UMTS bands. Tell tale sign will be if ATT TP2 has same chipset as Telus TP2.
I am crossing my fingers that TP2 will support Telus Canadian SIM.
I agree with you points. By seing the bands you mean in windows mobile band selction settings? If so these are always there.
I highly doubt ATT will use the same chipset as Telus since they use the MSM7600 to support both GSM and CDMA. ATT as no need for CDMA.
Also to support my claim:
ATT is RHOD300 device.
I think Telus is RHOD500 and Sprint is RHOD400 (can't find this info but I know 400/500 are both world phone, so it might be the opposit or something)
Different RHODXXX indicates differents innards.
Bottom line I want a TP2 with 3G on Fido so Im crossing my finders too!

Noob mistake on my part I think the Rhodium XXX is FCC ...so why did I think Telus was in there =\

I noticed that Amazon has the AT&T variant of the LG G3 up and I was curious if anyone knew the differences between them. I assume there will be bloatware for each specific carrier, but, excluding Verizon, would the AT&T variant be harder to root? Would one specific carrier variant get custom roms while the others are left behind?
Sorry for the noob questions, I'm just not 100% familiar with Android devices sold by a specific carrier.

Surprisingly yes, there's a minimum of difference in supported bands according to the FCC. AT&T's website indicates their model (D850) supports 2100 Mhz HSPA rather than AWS, but they probably meant AWS. Basically they have the same 2G, 3G, and HSPA+ frequency support
T-Mobile's (D851) is missing Band 5 LTE, which AT&T has deployed here and there, but that appears to be the only difference in frequency support. Both devices have LTE Bands 2, 4 and 17 (AWS, PCS, and 700 MHz blocks B and C respectively), so the main US LTE bands are covered.
You would have to unlock the device first, of course.
From what I can conclude, the international version (H815) works on all GSM carriers, and it runs on the 850 and 1900 bands that phones need to run on Net10's AT&T-style network. All signs point to it working, but I'm looking for confirmation that inserting a SIM card gets the international version to work. Also, what is the main difference between the international version and a U.S. version of the device? Thanks.

The international version has no bloatware, the (European) variant has an unlockable bootloader, and the international variant supports different LTE bands, though it still includes full support for AT&T's LTE network and partial support for T-mobile (international version is missing T-mobile band 12).
Haven't done Net10 but I do have an H815 running time on Cricket, also using ATT's network.

htc.com says it supports 3G UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz. But is also says it supports 4G LTE: FDD: Bands 1,3,5,7,8,20,28, which is COMPLETELY wrong so i don't know if to trust htc.com.
Can anyone confirm the UMTS band support for this device? I am most interested in 900mhz UMTS because of trips to New Zealand where 900 mhz UMTS is often used.

Really dont know about it, but as far as i know you can flash radio bands anyways, so look for it on the web or this site, i use dev with no prblems at all in mexico with LTE. =D

I am looking into getting the HTC One M9 through AT&T but may switch to T-Mobile in the future.
As such I want a phone that fully supports both networks ...
I found a thread that it is supposedly possible to flash the AT&T phone to support developer ROMs but I can't find any information whether it is possible to also change band support. According to GSM Arena the AT&T version of the phone also supports LTE band 4 and 12 (needed for T-Mobile) but it doesn't support VoLTE on band 12, nor does it have 3G AWS (1700/2100), though of course there is a T-Mobile version of the phone WITH support for all of those.
Can I simply flash my phone so that I can (a) use CM13/AOSP roms and (b) so that the radio uses the proper AT&T or T-Mobile bands and tech?

The T-mobile version of the M9 supports the most bands. The AT&T and Developer Edition are identical and are missing some bands needed for t-mobile LTE (Volte) support in some areas. Flashing different radios will not enable bands the phone does not have. Theirs more information in the T-mobile M9 forums

Thanks for the reply. I have checked GSM arena, plus anything else I could find on google. I don't see a listing for the unlocked/developer edition on this page. I see EMEA, Verizon, ATT and T-mobile.
And yes, sorry, I didn't realized there was an AWS for HSPA, i was just thinking about band 4 LTE on ATT which I think is AWS.

It's pretty difficult to find out info on band support, and I have no idea why. It should be readily available...

Based on that, there are four models sold in the U.S., which are:
0PJA100 (which appears to be the AT&T version)
0PJA120 (which appears to be the TMO USA version)
0PJA200 (which appears to be the Sprint version)
0PJA300 (which appears to be the Verizon version)
The AT&T model supports the following: UMTS 850MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz.
Now, that said, if you look on AT&T's site, they list their model as 0PJA110, so obviously either the FCC site is wrong or the AT&T site is wrong.
I happen to have the 0PJA110 model, which is also the Rogers model (so it would make sense that the AT&T version is 0PJA110 because Rogers and AT&T generally have the same devices, and their networks are generally the same frequencies). Based on HTC Canada's site, the Rogers model supports UMTS 850MHz, 1700MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz.
Now, for the assumption: From what I have read (but I haven't personally confirmed), the unlocked and developer models are the same as the AT&T model. If that is indeed the case, then you have your answer: No UMTS 900MHz support the unlocked and/or developer models (in fact, not UMTS support on any U.S. model).

I know this is a delayed followup, but I wanted to say thanks for this. I finally got HTC to confirm that UMTS 850MHz, 1700MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz are the official specs for the US unlocked edition(which, oddly, is marked 0PJA110 on the back).
I am pushing them for a refund for false advertising. I was so concerned that these specs could be wrong before I purchased the phone, that I did a chat with HTC and they assured me the correct specs were UMTS 850MHz, 900MHz, 1700MHz, 1900MHz and 2100MHz. Once they confirmed these specs for me, I purchased the phone. Now they confirm they told me wrong. Very frustrating experience.
I am waiting to hear back about getting a refund. I am hoping the come through, this is crazy.

Meanwhile every seller in the USA who claims to carry the XT-2087-1 Odessa variant is posting the FDD-LTE Configuration for XT-2087-2 (which lacks B12, B17 and B66) in their specification.
The config I think it is supposed to have is:

No, I'm not from the US
Okay: I finally got a callback from Motorola international (who were no help at all as they referred me to the New Zealand website which is a different model).

This means the only major band this phone is lacking for TMO is band 71. Yes, it is increasingly important for TMO, but even without band 71, this is one of the few Motorola Dual Sim phones to include FDD LTE 12/17 & 66.
It should be fully compatible with AT&T (except that Cricket won't permit it to use Volte on the Cricket network ... AT&T MVNOs apart from Cricket seem to be fine).
I am probably going to take a chance and order this on Amazon. I will report back on how well it works with my two ATT MVNOs --- still looking for a cheap prepaid TMO MVNO sim for testing purposes, if anybody has suggestions.

Okay: I finally got a callback from Motorola international (who were no help at all as they referred me to the New Zealand website which is a different model).

friend. save your files and try to reset it with your carrier's chip and put it later when you go into airplane mode there within 2 minutes you can take it out of airplane mode that might solve your case. Hope this helps . here always help me doing this
