does anyone have a suggestion for a sense 6 KK ROM without all the bells and whistles , and preferably without gapps. maybe a strange request. have looked thru all the m8 threads i could find , just thought maybe i overlooked one. thanks for any suggestions.

hmm, i think op means also without bloat and he did say without gapps...
SlimKat is light if thats what you are looking for.
otherwise, you could try stock, root and remove unwanted apps with titanium backup or similar

OP specified Sense ROM.
OP, what software version are you looking for? That is just as important as KK versus LP, due to firmware differences even between KK builds.
What carrier version of the M8 do you have?

So you're currently on Euro LP firmware. Any particular reason why you want to go back to KK?

just personal preference. thank you @ everyone who took time out to read and respond to my post.
SOLVED : after more searching was still unable to find a sense ROM without gapps. so i downloaded a KK rom and used 'total commander' to strip it down.

Yeah, I've never seen such a thing (and debloated was your best option). Sense doesn't even really use a gapps package like AOSP ROMs do. But rather, their own HTC Sense skinned apps. Closely tied into the Sense framework, so deploying the apps separately would probably not be a good idea.
Mike1986 has a download link in his ARHD thread and if you search around he has a odexed and deodexed stock 4.4.4 flashable. Then just buy root explorer from the play store and start removing unwanted bloat.

What ROMs are okay to flash if you have the Knox bootloader. Im so confused about this Knox thing. Ive read if it doesnt change your bootloader you will be fine and others saying i have to wait for a stok mk3 .tar (i do believe thats the right one) file to be available. one dev posted a rooted 4.3 rom and he said this wont mess with the bootloader. im just nervous dont want to brick my phone. someone please help and shed some light on this confusing situation
This should be Q and A section, and Cnexus posted a FAQ about this in general section....

I'm running the cm11/kitkat experimental build and I have the new knox bootloader, the rom requires some tweaking, I will post it soon if the original dev doesnt incorporate my fixes.

If you want a simple answer, then here it is: you can flash any rom you want.
Only one catch: do not EVER Odin a full stock tar with version < MK3 to your device or you will instantly brick.

Thank you. First answer I've been able to understand. Just stay away from Odin and .tar files. About to flash your ROM so I can have root and from what I've been reading pretty good battery life as well. Thanks for your work man.

I've been running it with ART and I haven't had it reboot on me yet. I think once I was doing something with the camera gallery and the camera 'broke" and required a restart but I can't remember if that was when I was playing with cm10.2 or cm11.

The original ROM checks for "know" baseband versions to make sure you dont try flashing the ROM on the wrong device. I had to unpack the ROM, add support for the new baseband and then repack the ROM inorder to get it to install. I also change he kernel cmdline to set SELinux to permissive mode by default (like it was in 4.3). I will post the tweaked ROM shortly.

i don't care about sense at all. i'm just used to flashing a zip in twrp not all this firmware updating and stuff......
Looks like I'm just going to wait on a ROM
I'd try skydragon, or wait for the upcoming CM12 being released later this month. I can't use wi-fi on skydragon, so i'll just use CM11 until CM12 comes out. It's going to rock.

Here's the damn thing! I don't know which device you came from but if you want a Android L rom, there's a few here. GPE and CM12. If you want GPE, you may need the lastest firmware to enjoy the best of it! Whereas CM12 is stil buggy. Whichever, its your call...
Don't be rude to others when they simply answer you in kindness. If you're so great, next time bloody hell look through the forum before posting in Q&A -.-

I tried to restore this but it didn't even show as a file I can restore.
I think the title's pretty self-explanatory, I'm on a Sense Lollipop rom, and I can't figure out what kernels are compatible
Thanks ahead
There are 2 types of lollipop, the sense and the gpe version. First you figure out what type you are running and then read the specific kernel threads (especially the opening posts) to read for what type of lollipop it is.

The short answer is yes. SD kernel works with lollipop sense, but you can't watch any video. Once kernel source is released by HTC the kernels will be updated
hello. recently updated by my I747 custom recovery NE4 to mj1. since I updated, is giving me problems signal, it overheats and few things more. I feel that this upgrade is giving me problems. my question is? I can go back to the stock rom NE4? and if you can, how serious the procedure?

if your bootloader/modem is nj1 , which i assume you mean by recovery , you cannot downgrade !! it will brick your phone. perhaps using a custom kernel would help.

thx. in that area I can get a custom kernel with support nj1?

One thing to keep in mind is that there are custom TouchWiz kernel and custom AOSP kernels. Don't put a custom AOSP kernel on a TouchWiz ROM, or vice versa. You can sometimes find both kernels in the same post if a dev maintains both. So pay attention to which you download based on the ROM you are running.

Sure you can install a custom kernel.
The stock rom is a TouchWiz based rom, so you would want a TouchWiz (TW) kernel. You can find kernel threads in the dev subforum. I am using the kernel that came with my rom and have not experimented with it or any others. This leaves me with no recommendation as to what would be better for you. All I can say is read the threads and see which ones work with the stock ROM.
Have you check to see what is using the most battery during the times your phone is running hot? This may give you an idea of what is causing the problem.

They're trying to tell you to either be patient and let devs to their magic without the annoying Buzz of "do this for me" and that there aren't any yet.
