I'd like to know how to change the DEFAULT MMS user agent. I don't mean within the MMS app, I'd like to know how to change the default systemwide agent. If this isn't possible, how can I make the carrier (Verizon) identify my phone in a way in which I can receive higher resolution MMS? I don't care how complicated it is.

You best option would be to use a different application. If someone is sending you MMS then their phone will automatically reduce the quality.

Hi all. Does anyone know how (or if it is even possible) to change what application runs when you click the MMS messages icon on the "House" tab of the HTC Homeplug? (Not talking about the App Launcher tab) Maybe through Reg Edit? I never use MMS messages so it would be cool if I could make the icon run some other application. As usual, tried searching through Google.
Thank you

I've installed the Palm threaded messager thats here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308881&highlight=palm+messaging That puts e-mails in the first icon and SMS in the second icon.
Any way to customize it more so that I can have something other than e-mail in the first icon and SMS in the second one?
Therefore, the filter option is pretty much useless. Does anyone know any way to save the filter settings so that i can always see JUST my personal contacts defaulted in my address book? If not, what might be a good third party app (free is always best! ) that will do this, simply, for me. Thanks!

There is an option to filter by category in my ROM. What exactly are you talking about?
It gives you the option to filter, but then every time you go into contacts it is unfiltered. There is no option to "save filter settings." Therefore you are defaulted to only seeing the list you want.
I want to do this b/c i have lots and lots of work contacts i almost never use, but need stored. SO i would like to be able to hide them semi-permanently, but still be able to access them when needed.
Has anyone found a way to have a filter enabled by default?
Thanks.
I would like to know this too.
Thank you!
Do anyone know an solution???
Does anyone know how to change the font type of an email? Any settings for that?
Also when I reply to an email, can I set it back to rich text or html?
Need to change my signature.
Have now DHD with original rom 2.3.3
Whenever I compose a new message in the stock Messaging app, when I enter in a name, I get not only their mobile number, but also their email, their house phone, their work, etc...but I only need to see their mobile. Is there any way to make this happen? I wouldn't like to remove the numbers permanently off my phone (some of them I cannot, they are from facebook).
As far as I can tell, there isn't a way to do this through the phone's options.
The only thing that comes close is this: when choosing names from the contacts list, you can specify a preferred number to use for messaging, but this only appears to apply to choosing names from your contacts. Typing in a name will still suggest all of that person's numbers.
Hmmm, ok. Is there a modification to the messaging app that I could use perhaps? Or, if I were to root my phone (maybe), is there some things I can mess with in the apk to disable this?
To be honest, I don't know. There might be, but I have little experience modifying the system apps.
I did a bit more searching on this issue and it appears there used to be such an option in Android 2.1 or 2.2, but it's missing in 2.3. According to the majority of forum posts I came across, the "solution" to this problem is to install a third-party messaging app like Handcent, which apparently does have an option to filter contacts so that only mobile numbers show up.
Also, I poked around in a decompiled version of Mms.apk (the messaging app) and there doesn't appear to be any easy way to change the current functionality. I think the solution lies in changing what suggestions the app returns when you start typing a name (so instead of returning all numbers/emails, it just returns numbers categorized as mobile), but I can't find what file contains that behavior. I'll keep looking, though.
Ok, thank you for looking. Keep in mind that this is a Samsung phone, and I think they install their own flavor of the MMS app. If you'd like, I can see if I can track down an APK (probably from a rooted Galaxy S II Skyrocket) and send it over to you.
And, If I need to use a different messaging app, is there a way to make it blend in as much as it can, like instead of seeing custom icons/names/ads, seeing something like the stock Messaging shortcut/app.
Was wondering if there is a way to either change/bypass the MMS size compression limit with the stock app.
I know other third party apps give you the option by personally I like the stock JB messaging app, and was wondering if anyone has changed the xml settings for and care to share
