Open the phone app like you're going to make a call, click on more, then settings, call settings section, Voice over LTE Settings, Do Not Use VoLTE, then hit ok.
Depending on who you call most, VoLTE will actually help your battery.
I have a tmobile version of the s6 and i dont have the menu for turning on/off VoLTE..what to do?

You aren't on latest firmware update, you need to check for latest update for your model.
Then update.

Im on the latest firmware 5.1.1.
Is there a newer one?

Maybe you need a 925T with tmobile in order to get the VoLte setting.

Check your baseband version: Settings > About Device (all the way at the bottom) > Baseband Version. You should see a string like G920TUVS3DOJC, that's the latest update; not sure which one added VoLTE, but I know OJ7 had it. This page has a list of the versions.
Just for the record don't think the SM-920F has VoLte setting.

There is a bug that causes Cell Standby to just eat through battery power. I've had mine off since I got my Edge but with all the updates I have not tried it again.
I may want to give it a try since I typically go into the band selection menu and lock in on LTE band 4 (band 12 at work has horrible speeds for data), but that causes me to miss calls since the phone can't switch to HSPA to take the call.

What I meant was to make sure you are up to date with all the carrier / manufacturer updates and you too can see the words floating out of the speaker, this VoLte is like magical unicorns and my battery lasts me a-long-time.

I'm going to avoid it in case they patched something. So far it seems you can avoid it by staying off of WiFi.

If you go in to system updates through the settings and check for the update, you have 3 options, No Thanks, Download Later, and Download Now.
If you click No Thanks, the alert goes away. It will even state in the system update app that the last update (on June 30th, 2105) failed.
Download later allows you to choose a time that better suits you.
And of course Download Now, starts the process right now.
Hope this helps.
When i go to system update all i have is update now or later. I don't get the no thanks option.

Just downloaded and installed software changed to 11A, so far only thing ive noticed is keyboard is a lot smother so far no missed taps
Also seems to have helped with wifi issue before it was like i was on dial up, couldnt get a page to load but now i can actually use wifi
Yes, waiting to d/load it later today.
From Droid-Life:
An update is rolling out for the LG G4 on Verizon, bringing a few features to owners, but nothing all that special. The software version is labeled as VS98611A.
Included is an enhanced Folio display while a call is taking place, an updated consistency for displaying contacts and non-contacts in the Dialer app, and an enhanced Advanced Calling feature. That’s it.

How to get to "field test mode: and see the Lte Band that the phone is connected ?
Hi.
LTE DIscovery app or any other app says LTE BAND UNKNOWN. I tried also *#*#4636#*#* and also at network type says LTE, unknown.
Do you know how to fix this ? Do you know how I can get to field test mode like in samsung code *#0011# ?

No no modification, no root. As it was from factory. Only installed all the push updates that asus made ...
I use this in dial:
*#*#4636#*#*
I don't know if this is the field test, but inside the first menu I can change the mobile network behavior.
Edit:
Sorry, didn't read all of your post, On my device the mode for 4g is "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)"
It connects in 4G and when the signal goes bad it reverts automatic to hsdpa.

Think it depends on user-submitted data. It doesn't work for me in Japan either - says the carrier but reports LTE, band unknown.

Good question. Is a good idea to post on asus forum your question http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php
If many people do that they may find a solution.
LTE,unknown if you want it fix, you gotta write a petition to your telco and get them to script it.
most telco won't bother to do that as it is not important value. what is important to network engineers are the decibels, the LAC, maybe CID, the list rate, the smsc number etc.

If you use nova launcher and set up an activity widget, one of the activities is "field test mode". Set it up on the home screen and click it. Or use shortcut master to launcg the activity. Either way takes you to a menu i hadnt been to yet and it may provide answers. It has 4 options: UMTS, UICC, LTE & ASUS CUSTOM. In here you can change your band preferences and switch usb from vendor to asus usb

It came with 6.0.1 installed. Do I bother updating? Or should I stick to MM?
If I do update, should I wipe afterwards?
You may lose volte after that.

Why would updating to nougat (officially) cause that?
Google VoLTE (voice over LTE). You may use it without knowing it. You shouldn't lose, could be opposite..

You can't revert by yourself.
Also in 7.1.1 there is auto brightness lag and audio equaliser is not working (fixed in some channels, not reteu atm).
Motorola fu**ed up 7.1.1 upgrade, do not want to admit they did and I recommend to stay away until it will be fixed.
Only help you can get about those issues from Motorola are: "clear cache" and "factory reset"
Pathetic customer support.

It is great phone, no doubt, but...
I bought it because VOLTE among others. It was working till I updated to 7.1.1 and it works no more.
In 7.1.1 equaliser is not working for reteu channel. No biggie for me, I use Poweramp.
Brightness lag is nasty bug. For example: I go from bright area to darkness, it is 8-9 seconds and phone is adjusting backlight. That should be immediately like in my other Android phones.
Hardware is fine, but software developer department sucks and they don't react.
Mike
None of those things would both me really, but I'll stay on 6.0.1 for now
Well, brightness adjustment should have some delay. Maybe not 8-9 seconds but for sure should not jump up and down for every environment change.
As far I can see VoLTE works for me.

Stock rom, locked bl, August security patch, retus didn't get latest patch yet.
As you can see, I was in roaming. Now in different country, again roaming and VoLTE is still provisioned.
VoLTE could depends of your mobile provider, sim card, roaming agreement and of course, phone. Looks like that phone is not problem.

Thats because you did a speed test, the faster the connection the more data needed to get an accurate result, the 5G bit of it is irrelevant
In the normal world you wont use more data, you'll just see the what you want to see quicker, 100MB at 90Mbps or 100MB at 600Mbs is still just 100MB.
